Just a little fucked up of the alnst creators to make Ivan feel joy when he is in pain and have a pretty consistent motif of any touch = good when he is one of the most detached, non-touchy people in the whole series. We rarely see him touch anyone that isn't Till, and when he's touched by him, it's quick to pass, violent, or aggressive. He thinks those rough little pulls and pushes are love because that's all he's ever known... Only for him to end up strangling the one person he loves to save him? Okay. Fucked up. Big fan.

My belief (at the moment) is that its remarkably easy to make an Umineko Milgram Crossover where you put the Umineko characters in Milgram- like- all you really need to do is to make them all The Culprit of the Ushiromiya Family Massacre and have Battler (acting as Es) try to determine the "actual" culprit and wtv and you can keep the themes of motherhood, family, misogyny and truth and reality vs fiction and all of that pretty easily due to how Milgram's setting is very conductive to introspective character reflection and analysis and what not. Like- a lot of Umineko (where Im at) is just Battler trying to come to terms with:

Which is really funny when I personally don't think the inverse (putting mlgr characters in Umineko) would work at all

hihi new mutual :D fellow decohead ... i hope this ask isn't weird err but i was curious abt your miko + nocturnal kids connection !! i never thought about it before but i can see it ... + i like hearing abt the mlgr covers ppl wanna see ^_^)/ there's lots of possibilities i think

new mutual hihi :D i briefly talked about Mikoto covering it in this post about what cover songs i think each character should get but i will gladly go into depth >:D

Using this NK translation and this voice line translation btw! This post operates under RBGkoto and focuses on Redkoto specifically so if you aren't familiar with that then it might not make much sense ^^;

Starting at the chorus "If you cry in earnest and strain yourself, come this way anytime" "We'll love each other over and over again, shining all the while" "I want to keep saving you." We know Redkoto cares deeply for Bluekoto and his safety, saying "If it's to protect me (Bluekoto), I (Redkoto) will do anything" and singing to Blue "I should have saved you, but why are you crying? Rely on me, praise me with your song, I am your savior." It's clear that Red wants nothing but to protect Blue, even if he does it in a misguided way and Blue isn't aware of it.

Now that we've established how Red feels about Blue, we'll go back to the start. ""How I wish I could finish this and forget you." How long will I fight with that kind of face on? I'm on my own again. Even though I love you". This relates to how Red doesn't make contact with Blue and keeps him unaware of his existence so that he can live the safe and normal life that Red and Green can't.

Continuing, "Every time, my wounds show up again as though to remind. Why are the miseries I take in from 1 to 10 and then to 100 the only thing that doesn't die off?" MeMe explicitly shows that Red is extremely depressed in his life, and doesn't at all enjoy what he does, but continues anyway because it's essential to Blue's safety. And now that he's been trapped inside of Milgram, that pain he feels has only grown, especially since he's failed to completely protect Blue.

This last part is mostly my hopeful wishing, but I'm really hoping for a happy end for Mikoto, in which the system finds a way to work together and accept each other. If this could happen, i guess Nocturnal Kids would work better as a trial 3 song, but either way if this ending comes true, the rest of the song will be perfect. "You can sleep now. I'll protect you diligently, after all." "Shouldn't we look forawrd and laugh now?" "What hurts hurts, but we'll get through it together."

Some extra lil bits that I wanna mention but don't have too much to talk about:

"This indelible awfulness isn't the ideal, but such a euphoric shyness is perfectly all right" reminds me of Green's "The minus energy that I swallowed hugged me"

Nocturnal Kids references Anti Beat, which would be a good link to Kotoko, since Mikoto is paired with her

"It never ends. We're kids another day." Mikoto clearly has suffered an extremely traumatic childhood, and Red is fighting their past constantly to keep everyone safe.

Definitely a reach, but we only ever see Red in MeMe in the outside world when it's night- he's nocturnal :}

Mainly asking this to gain perspective, what was your personal process when it came to making your own Milgram characters (the tsumigram guys), if there was much of a process at all

well let's see.. I don't really have a process when coming up with designs and personalities, they just get generated in my head on their own. the belts' designs are based on the theory that they resemble kanjis from characters' names, so I partially designed them with this in mind, but other than that idk I was placing them randomly and praying

I had some early work notes when I was coming up with the rough concepts of the characters but I deleted them and don't remember what they were about, I was trying to balance out the concepts and make them complement each other is all that I remember... I was also thinking of the possible verdicts at that stage since my verdict system can describe the character's personality in a simplified way

the first ever milgram oc of mine was a milgramsona, I just trapped myself in the prison. the second was gathered from some ideas that I've seen and wanted to elaborate on, one of which was my theory on one of the canon mlgr characters very early in the project when barely anything was known. it has nothing to do with current mlgr story so I don't want to say what it was, but elaborating on the ideas that weren't elaborated on or could exist but don't actually exist in canon works for me as well

I don't have a lot of imagination for the murders themselves but I remember that picking a uniting theme for the duo and going from it helped me coming up with hotaru-remi and toa-miku murders at the time when tsumigram didn't exist yet and they were duos in my drafts. I don't remember how I came up with others' murders I kind of rushed the backstories overnight...

ego was created based on that I think our current es is extremely uncooperative and in the first novel a cooperative es wasn't given a chance to cooperate. it's frustrating me that milgram can't understand that in case to get information more easily you can gain the prisoners' trust first so I'm going to do it myself

when it comes to the prison's structure I mentioned somewhere that my verdict system was inspired by the 4D chess happening in the fandom during T2, and I think the overall atmosphere is closer to the first novel rather than the current milgram, because a lot of things about the first novel frustrate me and I need to see them the way I want to see them

well if it's anything, I like to listen to interviews/documentaries etc that focus on people's personal experiences and I'm always paying attention to what could possibly be used for the characters, even if it's things that don't seem to be connected to central themes of their stories. the writing format of mlgr allows me to not have the full backstories right here and now, since they're revealed bit by bit, I have time to adjust them and add new details to them. so the process of shaping the characters never really stops
