i'm also really disappointed that it almost felt like it ... didn't matter that Adrien was Chat Noir. like, yes, Marinette might not have offered to help Gabriel, so he might not have been able to make a wish, but I think there's a fair chance she would have anyway

i don’t know what is happening to lila in her final scene, but i do know one thing: if lila’s as smart as the writers want us to believe she is, she won’t be going to school to turn everyone against marinette. no, her new identity will be angling for the role of marinette’s best friend.

after all, being marinette’s rival turned out pretty well for marinette, didn’t it? but being chloe’s best friend didn’t turn out so well for chloe.

if she’s smart, she’ll veer away from the outlandish lies about jagged stone and prince ali. if she wants to play marinette like a fiddle, she’ll tell stories about the bullies at her old school and standing up to them. she won’t give adrien a second glance. maybe she’ll even make comments about gabriel agreste and wonder if he was really as great as they say. maybe she’ll ingratiate herself as the perfect confidant for a stressed marinette who’s tired of keeping secrets. even better if she can position herself in opposition to what alya is saying, especially if alya is saying a hard truth marinette doesn’t want to hear.

if she’s smart, marinette won’t even realize she’s the enemy.

that would actually be so cool if true. that gabriel's wish includes marinette not revealing the truth about him (perhaps the "sacrifice" is that she has to tell the world that gabriel was a hero).

and so now marinette just doesn't tell chat noir. i don't know if it would be more interesting if it's a conscious or unconscious effect. does marinette simply never think of it? or does she keep saying to herself "I need to tell Chat this" and then either something comes up or she just can't seem to do it.

potential for a lot of angst when adrien/chat finds out that marinette hasn't told him — either him — and to the entire world it seems like she just chose not to, rather than being forced to not do so.

Okay so I get Maribug not telling Adrien about the whole situation with his Father, but I have to question. She really didn’t tell chat noir? She told Alya and Su han, but not chat noir? She doesn’t know Chat noir is Adrien, so what is stopping her from telling her trusted partner? To her, telling him shouldn’t be a big deal either. He was hit by the ring effect so she would probably need to explain the situation anyway.

I’d love to see that explanation. This is one of those situations where it doesn’t make sense that Marinette doesn’t know Chat noir’s identity. Chat noir would also probably would be interested in the details, especially now that he idolized his father.

So the ONLY reasoning I can think is that the wish made all of the events unfold like they did, from how ladybug gave Adrien the rings. The wish must have made Marinette do what Gabriel wanted. And because Gimmi is the kwami of reality and would know Chat noir = Adrien, it made it so either chat noir never asked or Ladybug never told him.

the ml fandom's climate and attitude towards leaks is a direct consequence of the show's structure, wherein the showrunners keep building up conflict, putting the audience on edge emotionally without granting any resolution in a years-long cat and bug game. in this essay I'll--

the best part about this is that this actually makes so much sense, because a) why wouldn't she tell Chat, b) she's trying to tell him and trust him more when she can.

There's a ton of different ways Adrien could find out about who his father really was but I think the funniest by far would be if he and Ladybug met up post battle to catch up, and she casually went "Oh no Monarch was actually Gabriel Agreste, I just lied to everyone because he asked me not to tell his son"

She's sitting there telling him about Gabriel's evil masterplan to bring back his wife and his final defeat in excruciating detail while Chat just. Blue screens

at least we now know that neither Marinette or Adrien are aware of him being a senti. after the S3 final we all assumed Adrien knew Rena Rouge and Carapace's identity, because it was so evident: cue Rocketear. after Félix and Kagami's theater kid nonsense we all thought Marinette finally knew Hawkmoth's identity, because how could she not? : cue Confrontation.

As we know (and are unfortunately accustomed to), episodes will not be premiering in order. According to miraculous.to, I have 10 days 5 hours to decide betwee:

I will watch them in release order, which means that if 5x06 releases before 5x05, then the ml 5x05 tag may have spoilers for 5x06

I will watch them in production order, which means I will have to wait, but the tags will be consistent (ml 5x05 will only have spoilers for 5x01, 5x02, 5x03, 5x04, and 5x05, even if 5x06 had alreay released).
