Closing thoughts on Heartcatch Precure! Movie: Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show… desu ka!?
The first mahou thing of the year is the Heartcatch movie. Not a particularly good one but not the worst out of the Precure movies. The movie exclusive kid character was not awful and the antagonist side had an ok story, but surprisingly the Cures were the weakest element overall. The whole thing felt like the antagonists were having their own drama and the Precure side was a tacked on afterthought, and Tsubomi was super out of character as far as I'm concerned.
Cure Ange had practically no presence, but to compensate there was also this sudden shot of other past Heartcatch Cures which I can appreciate.
Final takeaway was that this had some good shots and scenes but by tomorrow I've probably forgotten all about the plot.

2024 Media: 59. Heartcatch Precure! Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show... Desu ka!? (2010) - 6/10★ I think this was a decent precure movie. As per usual I feel like they're either AMAZING or bland and this fell somewhere vaguely in the middle for me. I think it tried to give all the cures their own screentime, in the short run time of the movies I guess it did decently this time in that regard. Moonlight's fight parts really shone through in this one to me also, idk she just felt cooler than usual for some reason? I wasn't overly invested in the plot but at the same time it didn't bore me to tears so I consider that a win for precure movies at this point T.T

On January 26, 2011, Toei Animation premiered the film, "Heartcatch Pretty Cure!: Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show... Desu ka!?" at the l'Elysées Biarritz theater in Paris, France, as the film takes place in that city. The premiere was a luxurious event with a fashion show and various activities for the children attending. The film was dubbed into French with localized names for the cast, despite the fact that, at the time, the Pretty Cure series had no official presence in France. The film’s dub was directed by Antoine Nouel, who has worked on other Toei properties.
Nolife was a French TV network geared towards geek and Japanese culture that hosted a number of programs, including "Tôkyô Café." Their reporter, Suzuka, was at the premiere, and this episode aired on February 23, 2011. As the film’s French dub remains lost media, this video, which resurfaced a few years ago on a Nolife archive YouTube channel, is one of the few pieces of evidence for this dub’s existence. As such, I have subtitled it to make it more accessible. I don’t know French, but luckily "Tôkyô Café" episodes have French captioning, so that made things easier.
Other evidence for this event taking place include a few photos taken from French voice actress Dolly Vanden's website. She voiced Itsuki/Cure Sunshine in the film's dub.

Anime
(armored people may not read it)
I watched 162 anime this year.
This year I decided to once and for all surpass my old feat of 150 films (I think in 2017) and watch the maximum number possible. After chrome crashed and my laptop broke, I lost my list of movies to watch twice. I had to restore it from memory.
This year there were 4 films that I was looking forward to a little.
Boukensha ni Naritai to Miyako ni Deteitta Musume ga S-Rank ni Natteta (8). A film with a hero. The girl's father deserves a separate film.
Atarashii Joushi wa Do Tennen (15). A film about creatures completely devoid of courage and in general everything that should be in a man. I liked the moment in the second episode, when the train stopped in the dark. He talks about the past, how he saw a black billboard, how he went to the planetarium, how he quit his job… and at that moment they show the passengers of the carriage admiringly listening to his story. Funny. Probably so in Rome the slaves looked at the slave who received freedom and Roman citizenship… And also in this film the most beautiful background women, those who walk in the background, sit in the subway cars, etc. Many of them are worthy of being the heroines of some women's films.
Helck (24)."Big Bad John" and the little long-eared woman traveling with him are the best married couple. (They only lack 30-40 children).
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka IV (25). Such a long story. I already forgot how it started, how it continued, where I stopped. And I even forgot that such a film exists…. Long films without a hero are worse than cholera.
Shangri-La Frontier (34). I've been waiting for this movie for a long time. The scene where the big hare sings the blacksmith's song and the "stern credits" of episode 18 are the best things in the movie.
Sousou no Frieren (35). I was waiting for this movie. For a year before I started watching it, I deleted about a thousand annoying videos on YouTube about this movie. Obviously, this is some very popular movie. Popular can't be good - this is an axiom. This is just a long women's movie about a stupid elf. However, the concept of the nature of demons is probably the best in the history of anime.
Himesama "Goumon" no Jikan desu (40). The beginning of episode 6 reminded me of an incident from the life of Agesilaus 2… (when the King was playing with children and someone saw him…). By the way, Roi Demon in this film is the best in appearance that I have ever seen in anime.
Ore dake Level Up na Ken (42). Not a Japanese story, so a little original, a little devoid of boring stereotypes. A little. Dynamic, realistic and bloody battles. The situation at the beginning of the film in the "figurine room" is very effective. One of the best films of the year.
Saijaku Tamer wa Gomi Hiroi no Tabi wo Hajimemashita (53). a film about a reward of 155,000 mice. hehe the only film of the year where a medieval person will not argue that the main character is a GIRL.
Sasaki to Pii-chan (54). The battle in the second episode, if you watch it with the "right eyes" - one of the best knightly duels in the history of anime. The film is not serious, but it turned out calm, mannered and gallant.
Kurayukaba (62). 5-7 years ago I saw the announcement of this film. And now finally…
Pluto (68). Most likely this is the best film in the history of anime about the life of toasters and coffee grinders. But they are just toasters and coffee grinders. The only character that evoked sympathy was Darius XIV.
Dungeon Meshi (71) is one of the expected films. I will write everything, without cutting. Despite the grotesque situation with food, this is one of the best films of the year, and now the most realistic autochthonous film of the decade. The film has very realistic armor. I especially liked the "lower arms" - mittens and gauntlets on some characters are very plausible. Also very realistic are the byrnie and hauberjons sticking out from under the cuirasses. The scene where the stormtrooper, not having time to put on the cuirass, runs out in a hauberjon - very realistic.
I liked how the characters are relaxing at a halt/in the camp - in their underwear by the fire, calmly, naturally, without the boring anime idiocy. And another unique thing. Probably only biologists will understand this. This stupid cat is drawn without a chest. For the first time in the history of anime, biology has won over anime idiocy. "A cat-girl" without the attributes of a Paleolithic Venus is just a miracle. more: it's funny how their stormtrooper sings the song of the sirens and the sirens, unable to withstand this "fierce battle", flee. now I understand how Odysseus defeated the sirens…
there are many stories about how people fight the elves and eventually win and the power of the elves comes to an end. if you look at the mad mage from the dungeon or these western elves, it becomes clear why… a man with dark skin and blue eyes. I recognized him as Zheng (roi Zheng de Qin). A typical future cruel tyrant. I didn't like it - the modern attitude to food. And also: everyone should have helmets. Without exceptions. You can live without an arm. But not without a head…
Unnamed Memory (83).A movie about: a normal man conquers a woman despite her stupid whims. A common thing in the life of a normal man. And they lived happily… until the end of the movie. And then the author was probably stung by the tail by a wasp and he came up with this ridiculous change in the plot, destroying the meaning of the whole movie…
Aura: Maryuuinkouga Saigo no Tatakai (105) is not a new film, but one of the best films of the year.
Tsurune: Tsunagari no Issha (108). Season 2. Probably a different studio - different colors, but it is still a pleasant and funny film without love torments. Watching Japanese ballet with a bow is always funny.
Maou gun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta (110). I'm tired of it… Absurd tales about "magnificent rice" are capable of ruining any anime about a pseudo-ancient world. Rice is the most inefficient grain. It needs a warm, humid climate - because digging in wet mud in the cold means death from pneumonia. Growing rice requires colossal human reserves. The entire village must create a flooded field, and then work on it.at the same time, one family can cultivate a wheat or barley field. spend less time and effort and get more harvest.(yeah i dont like rice…hehe) and this is the third film with the same Daemonium Regina and the second with her and arquebuses…. but the song from the "bow credits" reminds me of something from the 90s à la oasis. at least something…
Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi (111). A few years ago I ignored this film. It turned out that behind the external colorful frivolity there is an interesting science fiction drama. It's a pity that there is no sequel… one of the best films of the year.
Ore wa Subete wo "Parry" suru… (117). I liked how the main character refuses the awards. I liked the reaction of people who for the first time in their lives see a person who does not need anything, to whom they have NOTHING to offer. It is always a funny sight, both in anime and in life.
Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction (122). a potentially interesting story about the apocalypse… but it turned out to be the usual nonsense about senseless schoolgirls. Too bad. I wanted to watch a drama about a father looking for his stupid daughter in a destroyed world… but the scene of the destruction of the city is one of the 3-4 best in the history of anime.
Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru (123).The main character, 32 years old. (He's old enough to be my son, hehe). A man's life is just beginning after 30. He passed the critical period of "the average life expectancy of a person (25 years) and proved that he is a skilled warrior/hunter/craftsman… in general, young and capable. But in modern Japan they don't understand this.
Senpai wa Otokonoko (128). I endured this movie with all my might. The scene where the main character's friend punches someone in the face is the best thing in the movie. It's a pity that such scenes are not in movies where they are really needed…
Hazurewaku no "Joutai Ijou Skill"… (132). Evil gods, betrayals, dungeons alone, revenge - all this has happened more than once. This is at least the third film with an invasion into another world straight from the bus. However, the main character is a pretty serious man and this compensates for all the shortcomings of the film.Long-eared nana will definitely appeal to many young people who watch this film.
Dungeon no Naka no Hito (136). interesting movie about dungeons. I would watch it again and again…
Kono Sekai wa Fukanzen Sugiru (139).invasive movie about a game. A movie without a hero, but it is one of the best movies of the year. I hope the sequel will be shown in my lifetime.
OSHI NO KO 2 (141).the law of the universe - after a spectacular, dramatic first film, any sequel will be a …… the entire second season I wondered: what is this film about?. and constantly remembered the herald from the film "Rome"… and only in the last episodes it finally all started. I note that the "stern music" very effectively ended several episodes, successfully hitting the right moment. I hope the third season will be the last and will end with a severed head impaled on a pike or a cut out heart. and it's good that the sister finally found her doctor and now she's in business…
Kami no Tou: Ouji no Kikan (147).The first film was one of the best of its time. I waited 4 years for the sequel.the second season is like a bottle of mineral water a week after opening….
Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi (152).Mitsuuroko!a bold and original grotesque comedy about the despised Hojo rebels (who were destroyed in the 14th century). Surprisingly, the film is not labeled "only for children over 30". Modern jokes about Nobunaga and the 16th century are already quite boring. And here is such a rare era. The film is full of anime wisdom, like in Goblinslayer - you can't use a long sword in narrow corridors. Heh (the author of the manga doesn't know that a long sword is just a short spear). This film has enough of such wisdom. But in general, this is the best modern frivolous samurai anime.
Sayounara Ryuusei, Konnichiwa Jinsei (160).Serious main character. He found himself a tailed woman. Hehe. Probably because he himself is a former dragon.
epilogue. this year: some highly effective films never got sequels. I'd especially like to point out the situation with kaifuku jutsushi no yarinaoshi which they even started but stopped. this is not disappointing. this is ANGRY. this year there were a lot of thoughts about: although there is no money, strength or health anymore, it seems like it's time to remember old traditions, start breeding goats and sheep for… sacrificing them to the "God-in-the-Horned-Helmet". and when He is sated with sacrificial blood, maybe He will finally send me the second anime in my life with a real hero. because there are no other ways… almost "hehe"…

as for rarepairs, I'm into the following:
ReiSouya (sangatsu)
Tickles my brain every time they're compared and contrasted. Also thank you for reminding me that there are dimensions to their story in relation to shogi that only they can understand and/or desire.
Sometimes, well, I just see them as cats in the neighbourhood that aren't particularly close but they tend to sleep in the same shade behind the big flower pot in the yard anyway.
SolMari + RoMari (FGO)
What can I say other than Marisbury pretty ... But for real, something enticing about earning the devotion of a powerful being (and his disguised contempt). Just servant × master things.
YamAlcor (Desu 2) and HibiAl
been a truther of YamAlcor angst when Desu 2 came out, and then when Record Breaker came I—
narrative wanted to push Miyako onto Alcor, what with the teasing, but I tunnel vision'd during the scenes where (1) Alcor and Yamato stayed in the Akasha to repair Hibiki's data (and where Yamato was briefly worried about Alcor not returning as promised) and (2) the Human Administrator ending where Alcor pushed Miyako aside to take her place in serving as Hibiki's sword
also anime gave me food with the chess games, chef (!) Alcor and the double death hug at the end ugh these gays
* All in that order, only when it matters.

okay finished the Heartcatch movie. overall 6/10 too much french
but seriously now this might be one of my favorite Precure movies now. I found the story to be very intriguing and captivating and Oliver's character is really strong, and his relationship with Tsubomi was really cute to see. I feel this was the Precure movie with the most focus on story I've seen so far, so I'm giving it a 10/10 honestly it was a blast
#precure#heartcatch precure#Heartcatch Precure Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show... Desu ka!?#review#my only complaint is that I thought Olivier was gonna transform into a full feral wolf instead of just getting bigger hair and shinier eyes
