Managerial Duties: Inarizaki
The gym hummed with the familiar sounds of practice—sneakers squeaking against the polished wooden floor, the rhythmic thuds of volleyballs being passed, the sharp whistles from the coaching staff calling out drills. Despite the usual intensity, one corner of the court stood out, where a first-year was repeatedly failing to receive a serve. Every time the ball came hurtling over the net, it ricocheted off his forearms awkwardly or skidded away in an uncontrolled direction. His frustration was palpable, his shoulders tense as he shook his head and muttered under his breath.
You had been watching from the sidelines, arms folded as you observed the way his stance shifted just before contact. His weight was off, and his timing was a fraction too slow—small errors that compounded into one big problem. With a sigh, you stepped forward, motioning for him to pause.
“Try widening your base a little more,” you instructed, tapping your foot against the floor to demonstrate. “If you keep standing so stiff, the ball’s just going to knock you off balance. Loosen up, shift with it, don’t fight it.”
The first-year hesitated before nodding, adjusting his stance as you had suggested. Before he could attempt again, however, a familiar voice cut through the air, dripping with smug amusement.
“She may be the manager,” Atsumu drawled from across the court, his golden eyes glinting with mischief, “but try takin’ advice from an actual player.”
A ripple of laughter followed his words as he sauntered closer, spinning a volleyball between his fingers. His smirk was lazy, self-assured, the kind of expression that made you want to wipe it clean off his face. You slowly turned to face him, leveling him with an unimpressed stare.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you had a PhD in receiving,” you shot back, voice laced with dry sarcasm. “By all means, Miya, please educate us lesser beings.”
The gym’s atmosphere shifted instantly. A few players who had been in their own drills slowed, turning their heads with interest. The rest of the team wasn’t going to let this pass unnoticed. Osamu, who had been idly refilling his water bottle, perked up from his spot near the bench, already smirking as he anticipated the banter that was about to unfold.
Atsumu’s grin widened, his cockiness unshaken. “Ain’t about havin’ a PhD. It’s about experience. And last I checked, ya ain’t the one out there servin’ in nationals.”
A slow, knowing smile curled on your lips. "You're right, I'm not. But then again, you spend all your time servin’, while I actually learned how to receive."
The reaction was instant. Aran let out a low whistle, Osamu barked out a laugh, and even Suna's smirk twitched slightly. Atsumu tilted his head, clearly amused, but you caught the flicker of something sharper behind his expression—curiosity.
“Oh yeah?” he mused, tapping the volleyball lightly against his palm. “Then how ‘bout ya prove it?”
The words barely left his mouth before the other players reacted. Suna, who had been casually stretching nearby, sat up straighter, his gaze flicking between you and Atsumu like he had just stumbled upon something far more entertaining than practice. The rest of the team quickly caught on, whispers and murmurs spreading like wildfire.
Atsumu ignored them, eyes locked on you. “C’mon, manager. Think ya can handle one?”
The challenge hung between you like a taut wire, the weight of every gaze in the gym settling on your shoulders. Most of them, you knew, were already betting against you in their heads. Atsumu was known for his ruthless, pinpoint-accurate serves, the kind that left even the best liberos struggling.
But that’s exactly what made this fun.
You exhaled slowly, reaching up to unbutton your team jacket before sliding it off in one smooth motion. A hush fell over the court as you folded it over your arm and set it aside. Without a word, you walked to the opposite side of the court, rolling your shoulders as you moved. Along the way, you grabbed a pair of spare knee pads from the equipment pile, sliding them over your track pants. Then, with practiced ease, you crouched into a libero’s ready stance, feet planted, knees bent, weight balanced perfectly.
“Bring it,” you said simply.
Osamu groaned, already sensing where this was going. “Don’t be stupid. Ya know his serves are hell.”
You didn't talk much, getting into the zone. "I know."
Osamu’s brows lifted. “You know?”
Atsumu’s smirk twitched slightly, something unreadable flickering across his features. “And what exactly do ya know?” But you don't respond.
You didn’t move, didn’t blink—just stared at him, completely unfazed, waiting for him to serve.
You rolled your shoulders, shaking out any stiffness, meeting his gaze. “That your serves are fast. That they’re heavy, deceptive. That if I blink, I’ll miss it. That you’re expecting me to screw this up.” You smirked slightly. “That about sum it up?”
A beat of silence passed before Aran let out a low whistle. “Damn.”
Atsumu tilted his head, his usual smugness fading into something else—interest. He bounced the volleyball once against the floor before catching it, eyes gleaming. “Alright, then. Let’s see what ya got.”
Aran crossed his arms, letting out a slow sigh. "This ain’t a smart move."
Osamu clicked his tongue, shaking his head. "Hope ya like bruises."
The court stilled as Atsumu took his place at the baseline, rolling his shoulders before tossing the ball in his usual pre-serve routine. The tension was palpable now, a mix of disbelief and anticipation.
Most of them thought you were about to get wrecked.
"Ten bucks on the manager eatin’ dirt," Ginjima muttered, arms crossed as he glanced at the others.
"Nah, I’ll say she gets a hand on it but doesn’t control it," one of the first-years chimed in.
"I got five on Atsumu embarrassing her," another snickered.
"Idiots," Aran sighed. "At least bet somethin’ interesting."
Suna, however, leaned lazily against the wall, arms crossed, watching with a smirk.
“Put me down for a win,” he said, voice calm.
Osamu looked at him like he was insane. “Ya serious?”
Suna’s smirk widened. “Yeah. I’ve got a good feeling.”
Atsumu, unaware of the exchange, exhaled deeply before tossing the ball high into the air. In the split second before he made contact, everything seemed to slow.
Then—
A sharp, deafening crack as his palm connected with the ball, sending it screaming over the net with vicious speed. It was a perfect serve—fast, cutting, barely losing momentum as it hurtled straight toward you. Gasps rang out as everyone braced for the inevitable.
But you were already moving.
Your feet pushed off the ground with practiced precision, body reacting purely on instinct. Time snapped back into motion as you lunged forward, reading the spin in a split second, dropping into a perfect tumble to absorb the impact. The ball met your forearms with a loud thwack, and for a heartbeat, there was only silence.
Then, impossibly, the ball arced upward—clean, controlled, perfect.
It landed precisely where a setter would need it.
The gym erupted.
“What the hell?” Ginjima gawked, eyes wide.
“No way,” one of the first-years breathed.
Osamu just stood there, mouth slightly open before slowly dragging a hand down his face. "Well, damn. I should’ve bet against ‘Tsumu."
Atsumu, still frozen at the baseline, blinked at you in genuine disbelief. His mouth opened, then closed. He tried again, but all that came out was, "How—?"
A pause. His brows furrowed, his brain visibly short-circuiting. "But ya—?"
Silence. A deep inhale, then a third attempt. "There’s no way—"
Nothing coherent followed.
Atsumu looked genuinely betrayed by reality itself, struggling to reconcile what had just happened with everything he knew about volleyball.
You couldn’t help it—you burst out laughing. A sharp, satisfied sound, the kind that made the stunned silence in the gym even more ridiculous. "Oh my god, you look like you just saw a ghost," you teased, shaking your head.
You rolled your shoulders, exhaling slowly as you straightened up. "I played libero in middle school, and I still play casual games." A brief pause, then you nodded toward Suna. "We went to the same middle school. Suna knows."
Every head in the gym turned to Suna, who simply smirked, arms still folded. He let the silence stretch for a moment before tilting his head toward the rest of the team.
“So,” he said smoothly, “who owes me what?”
Before anyone could react further, a new voice cut through the noise. "What’s everyone standing around for?"
The entire team turned to see Kita standing in the doorway, his usual composed expression tinged with mild disapproval. The court immediately fell into silence, the players straightening unconsciously as if caught slacking.
"Uh," Ginjima cleared his throat. "Just—observin’ somethin’ important, Kita."
Kita’s sharp gaze swept over the court before landing on Atsumu, who still hadn't moved from the baseline, then flicked toward you, standing composed and unruffled. "Hm." His eyes narrowed slightly before he simply nodded. "Get back to work."
Without another word, the gym broke back into motion, though murmurs still floated around, disbelief lingering in the air.
With that, you dusted off your hands and turned toward the exit. "Alright, I'll be back."
As soon as you stepped past the gym doors and out of their line of sight, the composure you had held so effortlessly cracked. A sharp, searing ache radiated through your forearms, the sting of the brutal impact catching up to you all at once. You sucked in a breath through clenched teeth, resisting the urge to cradle your arms like they had just been run over.
"Holy shit," you hissed under your breath, shaking out your wrists in a futile attempt to lessen the throbbing. Atsumu really didn’t hold back. The ball had practically dented your bones.
You glanced down at your skin, already seeing the faint beginnings of bruises forming beneath the surface. Yep, no way you were getting through the next week without feeling this.
Forcing yourself to walk straight despite the radiating pain, you took a sharp turn down the hallway and made a beeline for the nurse’s office.
"Long sleeves for the next week, it is," you muttered to yourself, resigned to your fate as you pushed the door open, fully ready to drown in an ice pack for the next hour.

Bestfriend!Atsumu who couldn't muster up the guts to tell you he loves you, has loved you for ten years, and will keep on loving you, because he fears you don't feel the same love he does. You looked so happy and he didn't want to selfishly ruin that.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who is an outspoken, confident and shameless little bitch in doing everything, but he's always extra thoughtdul and careful with you, he's still annoying, but more considerately. He just can't find it in his heart to say or do something that might hurt you, because he's aware he can be too over his head.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who loves hanging out at your place because he claims it's "close to his college and he's too tired to walk the extra 4 blocks to his place."
Bestfriend!Atsumu's real reason for that is because he loves how your place is so evident of you. The lingering sweet scent in the air, the warm lights, the fluffy rugs, the decorations of your favorite things displayed everywhere. He loves them, because he loves you.

Bestfriend!Atsumu who always looks for you and up at you first everytime he wins his games.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who runs to you, as if he's running in a race, and hugs you tightly, as if it's the last, everytime you meet him by their changing room after their games, whether he won or lost. He just happy you're there.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who sometimes gets drunk with his teammates after a game, and so comes home to your place, laying down beside your front door passed out. You always have to carry his heavy and muscled body, his breath reekingbof alcohol, but always, always holding you so tightly. Either by your waist, or bluntly hugging you with you sat on his lap when you finally place him on your couch.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who gets drunk again with his teammates in celebration for their awesome win, this time inviting you out to drink and eat with them.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who makes sure to sit next to you.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who smiles so fondly while looking admiring you and even holds your hand under the table while you bond with his teammates.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who got drank continously and got drunk first, eventually speaking incoherently in a louder volume with his actions all clumsy.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu who gets tired and leans his head on your shoulder, not caring about his teammates looking and teasing.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu who moves his head to look up at you and without thinking, kisses your cheek. His lips stay there for a few seconds, eyes locked with yours, then on your lips. His hand moves up to caress your other cheek, pathetically leaning his drunken body over yours.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu who would have almost kissed you then and there with his teammates oggling, if it weren't for drunken Bokuto throwing his chicken nuggets at his face.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu attempted to slap Bokuto across his face with an empty pizza box.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu who's eyes widened, face reddened and flustered, body twitched when you held his hand to stop him.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu who just stood there, oggling at your hand on top of his.
Drunk bestfriend!Atsumu who enterwined his fingers with yours and pulled you up and towards the exit to have some alone time and some fresh air.
Drunk Bestfriend!Atsumu who ignores his annoying teammates' cheers and exclamations of "Go get her, loverboy!!" "WOOHOOOOO!" "lOvE iS iN tHe AiRrRrRrrrrrrr~~~~~ "
Drunk Bestfriend!Atsumu who holds your two hands in his big and warm hands, eyes searching for any emotion in yours, tall and buff figure hovering over yours. He inches his head closer to yours and rests his forehead on yours.
"I.... love you."
He breathes out. Mouth agape, hands tightening his hold on yours, chest rising and falling, eyes intensely staring at yours for your reaction. He speaks once more before you can reply,
"I have always loved you.
Your smile, your laugh, your big brown eyes, the way they crinkle when you're happy, your hair, your hands, your attitude, your kindness, your voice, your presence....... I can't love anyone else but you. Just being with you makes me nervous, happy and content. I know I have always..... always loved you and I know I will keep on loving you, and so...... I want you to know that and...... maybe...... make you love me too."
Bestfriend!Atsumu who's heart is pounding more loudly than it is when he's playing, he's nervous. He doesn't want to lose you.
Bestfriend!Atsumu who registers it late in his brain the feeling of your soft lips kissing his. The way your hands grip his curls to push his face on yous, and...

CLASSICAL CONDITIONING- m. atsumu
timeskip
[manager y/n pavlov-ed that hoe]
“hello?” a groggy voice answered.
“tooru i need help.” you spoke.
“it’s 4 in the morning.” oikawa replied, slight annoyance in his voice.
“i think i have feelings for atsumu.”
he quickly sits up. “i knew it!”
you stay quiet, phone still up to your ear. “what?”
“god y/n, the way you talk about him makes it so obvious.” oikawa scoffs.
“i talk about him a certain way?” you started to question yourself.
“you talk about him like he’s your husband.” he deadpanned.
“well… i guess we now know why.” you awkwardly laughed.
“so what did you need my help for?” he asks.
“i don’t know, i just need to get rid of these feelings.” you shrug.
he stays silent for a couple seconds. “what?!”
“what?”
“why don’t you just— i don’t know, tell the man?!” he exclaimed.
“well, im not sure if he feels the same way.” you sigh.
he sighs louder. “then there’s only one way to figure this out.”
you stay silent, waiting for him to continue.
“classical conditioning.”
your face holds a confused expression. “that pavlov thing?”
“do you do something to him everyday? like— a good morning or something?”
you think for a second. “well yeah, every time i arrive, i pat him on his arm and say good morning. why?”
“stop doing it for a week. if he notices then there’s a chance he likes you back. but just to be clear im no psychologist so don’t trust me.” he says. “good luck, babe. let me know how it goes!”
“this is so not going to work.”
“oh but it will.”
“good morning guys!” you greet everyone as you enter the gym. they all mutter tired greetings as you walked past each of them. completely walking past atsumu.
he pauses what he’s doing for a second. he looks at you as you’re mindlessly doing your own thing, not even glancing at him.
he ultimately shrugged it off, thinking, “maybe she forgot.” plus— it’s such a small gesture why would he care?
oh but he does.
a week passes and not a single pat from you. a stupid pat you’ve been doing for 5 months. why is he so bothered that you aren’t doing it?
you seem to be talking normally to him. none of your actions scream— “im pissed at you.” so what the hell is going on?
it’s the seventh day, the early morning where it was only you and him alone in the gym, he finally speaks up.
“wait.” he stops you. you turn around, waiting for him to speak. “why’d you stop doing that thing?”
no way. play dumb. “what thing?”
“that pat you do when you greet me in the morning. you stopped doing it.” he says.
you laugh. “i didn’t know you cared that much about those pats.”
he scoffs. “how could i not? im the only one you do that to!” he pauses. “so why’d you stop?”
so, this is the one error oikawa made on this stupid experiment. what the hell are you supposed to say?
“i dunno, i guess i just forgot.” you quickly replied, immediately trying to walk away.
“lies.” he playfully said before getting up and following you. “tell me the truth.”
you stop, turn around and stare at him. “i did tell you the truth.”
he rolls his eyes. “how could you forget a small action you’ve been doing for the past 5 months? hm?”
the smug look on his face only made him look more attractive. he steps closer and closer to you, taking advantage of the empty gym.
“i-“ you breath. “i don’t know.”
“oh c’mon y/n, tell me!”
you bite the inside of your cheek, hoping it holds you back from saying the truth.
“fine. if i tell you why im so bothered, will you tell me why you stopped?” he proposes.
your eyebrows furrow as you slowly nod.
“okay. well— i like it. i like it because im the only one who gets that pat. i like it because it genuinely is something i look forward to in the morning, and i like it because it gives me hope that you possibly like me back.”
your eyes widen at the last couple words he spoke. “say that again…” you said, a little breathless.
he chuckles at your expression, holding a small smile. “i like you y/n. everything you do, i look forward to because i like you.”
you don’t say anything but move forward, stepping closer to him, grabbing his collar and intertwining your lips with him.
and of course, he doesn’t protest.
his lips melt perfectly into yours as you wrapped your arms around his neck, his hands mounting themselves on your waist.
you both pull away after a moment, a little breathless.
“i like you too.” you say with a smile.
and then you hear a throat being cleared.
you both look to your right, seeing the whole team with a look of “finally.” on their faces.
“about time.”
“well your experiment worked. congrats doc.” you laugh as you ponder about the events earlier.
“i can feel your ugly smile through the screen.” oikawa jokes.
“no congratulations?”
“congrats! hope its a boy!”
“ugh! tooru it seriously felt surreal…”
he laughs as you continue your small tangent about your newly found reciprocated feelings with atsumu.
about time.

hi there!! you have wonderful work :) i was wondering if you could write for akaashi, kuroo, and atsumu with a girlfriend who finds out her friends are fake (talking crap, bullying her, etc.). i just wanna know what the boys would do about it. im sorry if this is too specific!
a/n: AHHH my first request!! Don't worry anon, this isn't too specific :), thank you hsjdhsjahdj
Fake Friends
Includes: Akaashi, Kuroo, Atsumu (separately) x Fem!reader
cw: cussing, bullying, spitting, hitting, hair pulling, slapping, implied slapping, corny chemistry joke.
Akaashi wasn't too concerned about friendships, relationships, or anything of the like. That's what he used to think, until he met you.
Before he met you, he would walk home alone, he would only hang out with his team when they celebrated a win. But now he has someone to walk with him, someone to hold when he needs the comfort. He has someone who he can rant to when he needs to.
Those few things are the reasons why he loves you so much. But he wonders if he's ever going overboard when ranting to you. He never hears your side of things, he never hears you complain about things. He wonders why. Maybe you're just not comfortable with sharing?
He finds out the reason after just a few days of worrying.
Akaashi came to pick you up from your class, ready to walk you to your next like usual. But he hears some noises, which isn't out of the ordinary. But he hears girls saying mean things, almost like they're patronizing someone.
And when Akaashi opens the door a little wider, not enough to be seen but enough to see what is going on, he sees you. You're at your seat, head down while your hair covers your face. Three girls surround you.
One points her finger at you, "what gives you the right to think you can blow us off?" She gives you a stern look. But this wasn't something a friend would say, no. She said it in a vial and cruel tone.
"You should know by now that you're nothing but a dog for us."
Another girl laughs at the statement, her hand covering her lips as she looks down at you. The third girl sits on the desk facing you.
"Answer me, you bitch!" The first girl grabs your hair, which makes you look up at her. Tears are flowing down your cheeks.
"Aww, she's crying. Fucking pathetic." The girl sitting on the desk starts laughing at seeing your tears. She puts her hand out, showing her rings to your face, "come on, mutt. You know what to do."
Just as you're about to lean forward to kiss her rings, Akaashi stalks towards the girls and slaps the girl's hand out of your face. He has an angry expression on his face, his eyebrows furrowed and his lips in a straight line.
"What gives you the right to treat my girlfriend like a dog?!"
Akaashi clenches his jaw. He's seen enough, no wonder why you were always so quick to do something for him. You're used to this kind of treatment.
You look to the side, eyes wide at the seen in front of you. "Keiji, it's not what you think!" Akaashi's head snaps over to you, are you really defending these girls? How long have you been accustomed to this kind of behavior?
But Akaashi doesn't respond, he only grabs your hand and leads you out to the hallway. "Those aren't your friends. Do you understand?"
You can only nod in response, your eyes brimming with tears, afraid that he's mad at you now. But Akaashi pulls you into his chest, hiding your face from anyone who passes.
"Don't let people like that control you, Y/n. You're too good for that."
Kuroo had a goofy smile on his face, ready to tell you another science joke. He knows you hate them, that you cringe every time you hear one. But you still smile at him, you still laugh at his stupid jokes.
He rounds the corner, about to make it down to your street, but he catches sight of five people on the sidewalk in front of him.
Two boys and two girls surround another person that is sitting on the ground. They all have a big smile on their faces as they yell at the fifth person. Kuroo isn't one for confrontation, when he sees something like this happening, he usually just threatens to call their parents or something of the like.
But as he walked closer, he realized that you're the one on the ground, a big, ugly handprint on your cheek. Your head is down, tears streaming down your face. Kuroo can't even imagine how you managed to fall to the ground.
All thoughts leave his mind when he sees one of the boys lean down and spit on your shirt. Kuroo's eyes widen, and he grits his teeth. Did that scumbag really just do that?!
"What makes you think you can be with Kuroo?" He hears one of the girl's voices shouting at you. She points her finger at you and sneers, "did you get with him because you knew I like him? Answer you ugly whore!"
Kuroo grows tired from hearing these words. He walks over to the scene, but not before hearing an insult from one of the boys.
"You're such a fucking pig. Always stealing guys, you'd really let anyone use you, huh." He laughs.
Kuroo starts walking faster, and once he gets to the scene, he grabs the guy's shirt, pulling him back and pushing him. The guy falls to the floor and looks up, he glares at Kuroo.
But before anyone can try to throw a punch or slap, Kuroo grabs your hand and takes off, running down the street.
Once you both get to a safe and secluded place, he immediately pulls you into a hug. Your tears start flowing down your face as you hug him back.
"Carbon and hydrogen went on a date. I heard they really bonded."
You pull back from the hug and playfully slap Kuroo's chest, "'s stupid." He smiles when he hears you laugh through the tears.
You never thought you would be dating Astumu Miya. You always thought his fangirls were a bit too much, and maybe they'd even threaten you.
But now you're having the time of your life because of him. Every worry ceases to exist when you're around him. He just has that effect on you.
But that doesn't mean his fangirls wouldn't try to hurt you in any way.
Over the time your relationship started, you gained new friends. You didn't recognize them as Astumu's fangirls, so your worries were unfound. Oh, how wrong you were.
One of his fangirls, Hana, managed to squeeze her way into your life. She was nice at first, gaining your trust, making you feel good around her. She was so nice that you considered her your best friend.
But once she gained your trust, she immediately turned against you. She would copy you, steal your clothes when she slept over, blame you for things that aren't your fault - she would do everything in her power to make you feel horrible.
Astumu didn't catch wind of this problem until a few months after it started. At first, he thought that you two were super close. He thought that someone was on your side.
But he knew he was mistaken when he started noticing the signs of her behavior changing. One of the main things he noticed was when you tried to talk, she would interrupt you and start talking about her day or other trivial things. She would take credit for your ideas. She even stole the necklace that he gifted you for your third mensiversary.
Astumu could only sit back and watch you let this happen. He knew that you didn't have many friends, so you didn't want to lose her.
But after a few more months, he knew that he had to put a stop to this. He knew when he saw you looking at yourself in the mirror after your 'friend' told you to lose some weight.
"Astumu would look better with someone who doesn't look like," she paused, "that."
While you were talking to Astumu in your bedroom, he comes over frequently, with your 'friend.' She interrupted you again as she stood up and smiled at him.
"Y/n, just stop talk-"
She was cut off by Astumu's glare, his jaw clenched, and his eyebrows furrowed. He looked pissed, and the girl had her eyes widened at his expression.
"When my girl speaks, you sit and fucking listen."
His tone was harsh, cruel, making the girl sit immediately.
But she couldn't listen to another word, she was scared out of her mind. She huffed and stormed out of your bedroom, grabbing her coat and shoes as she ran off.

Pinpricks {Miya Atsumu x Reader}
You know... All this brain juice should really be going into writing my assignments, but it’s whatever :D
Anyway, I'm thinking of posting a masterlist soon, there's not a whole lot, but please look forward for that! :D
|| Masterlist ||
-Seven
You and Atsumu have been friends for as long as you can remember.
Not too long ago, after he had won a championship game, you confessed your feeling to him.
“I’m sorry, YN, I just… I just asked another girl to a date a few days ago.”
A thousand needles. All over your body.
“Oh.”
Tears prick at your eyes and you clench your hands to will yourself from letting them drop.
“That’s,” You give him your best smile, “That’s great!” You chuckle a little.
You both know it’s the kind of smile that doesn’t reach your eyes.
Who were you trying to fool?
You laugh a little - as a coping mechanism or from embarrassment, you don’t know.
“Hah, forget I ever said anything then.” You shy away from his gaze.
“YN.” He says as he reaches his hand out, “Look-”
“No,” You’re quick to cut him off. You tuck your hands around your waist and lean back ever so slightly, “I, uh…” You clear your throat to stop your voice from shaking, “I should get going.”
You turn to leave.
“YN, wait I-”
Act normal.
You’re fine.
Haha.
You lift a hand to wave at him, “I’ll see you around, Tsu-” Your hand drops slowly. Tsumu? Could you even call him that anymore? You bet his new girlfriend would.
With these thoughts in mind you quickly correct yourself, “Atsumu.”
You don’t think you’ve ever gone this long without talking to Atsumu. Well…Aside from greeting him like you normally would. Or at least as best as you can without breaking down.
In between classes, you take the most convoluted route possible. At break times, you hide yourself amongst your girl friends; forgoing the rooftop to eat in the crowded cafeteria.
In some classes it’s quite hard to avoid him when he literally sits next to you.
“Pssst. YN.” He leans towards you.
You spare him a glance, “Shh.” You give him your best glare, “I’m trying to write notes.” You speak while scribbling in your notebook, “You know this topic is hard for me.”
Not true... But it was your best excuse.
From the corner of your vision, you see him narrow his eyes.
With your eyes trained on your notes, all you can hear is a huff and tearing of paper.
Moments later said piece of paper lands on your desk.
I need to talk to you after class.
You turn to him, who already has his eyes trained on you.
You answer with a subtle shake of your head.
To which he replies with a frown before turning to write another note.
You’ve been avoiding me
You hold the note in your hands and stare at it for a few seconds.
You look up at the ceiling and blow out a breath before writing down a reply.
Fine. After class. 2 minutes.
Short and sharp.
You pass the note back to him and he looks to you with a smug smile.
But pins prick at your heart once again.
You once thought of confessing by passing a note to him like this...
After all, it was something you two did almost every day.
Just how long had you been harbouring these feelings?
It doesn't matter, it's too late now.
…
You don’t think you’ve ever dreaded the end of class as much as you have right now.
Everyone is speeding away, having thrown all their belonging into their bags to head to lunch.
But your hands are shaking as you pick up your notebooks.
What am I supposed to say to him?
Lost in thought, you don’t realise that Atsumu is holding your pencil case for you to pack away into your bag.
He’s standing in front of your desk with his bag slung over his shoulder, “YN?” He asks.
Snapped out of your trance, you look up from where your seated but don’t answer him.
“Let’s go,” He laughs lightly, “Ya only gave me two minutes, I gotta hurry.”
You take your pencil case, “Right…” You whisper, “Thank you.”
“C’mon.” He motions to the door with a nod of his head.
Languidly, you follow after him. Every step pinches at your heart.
“Look Astumu,” You try to beat him to the chase, “I-”
But he cuts you off, “You’ve been avoiding me.”
You bite your lips. Of course I have. You think.
He places a hand on your forearm, “I told you, you don’t have to be awkward with me.”
You almost scoff at him, “It doesn’t— I can’t just—” erase my feelings for you.
With a deep breath, you gather your thoughts, “I—” You look up at him, “I just need some time to get used to it.”
You gently cover his hand with your own, “I’m embarrassed enough as it is.” You admit and dip your head as you feel the tears rising, “I’ll—” You pull his hand away, “I’ll come to you when I’m ready, Atsumu.”
“And when will that be?” He whispers.
You can only shrug.
He sighs, “You’re my best friend, YN.”
That’s what makes it hurt more. You grit your teeth. Why can’t he understand that?
“I don’t want to lose my best friend.”
Again... A thousand needles. All over your body.
You close your eyes for a moment as the tears threaten to spill over.
“Neither do I.” You hate the way your voice shakes.
“Atsuuuu~” It’s his girlfriend’s sickly sweet voice.
You quickly wipe your tears and turn to leave, “I have to go.” You point behind you with your thumb, “I have to borrow PE clothes from a friend.”
One thing that is both a blessing and a curse about being friends with Atsumu is that you inevitably become friends with his twin, Osamu.
“You know you can’t avoid him forever.” Osamu says, leisurely leaning back in his seat in front of you.
You scowl, “Watch me.”
You know this is misplaced anger, but this heavyhearted feeling is becoming too much to bear.
“Will you at least come for our birthday later this week?”
Your body goes slack.
You've never missed their birthday, and they've never missed yours.
It was an unspoken promise at this point, one that you, unfortunately, think you can no longer keep.
…
When the morning of their birthday arrives, you’re curled up in bed.
You’ve been vomiting all morning; feeling lightheaded with a fever but feeling so cold all the same.
Osamu came by a while ago. He was meant to pick you up and head back to their place to celebrate their birthday.
“Just take the presents.” You groan as you prop yourself up, “The blue one is for Atsumu. This black one is yours.”
You began preparing their presents months before today - collecting little volleyball trinkets that you think they would have liked.
You gather the blankets around your body and take small steps to the presents you prepared.
With all the strength you can muster, you give him a smile and say, “Happy birthday, Osamu.”
... and Atsumu
…
When Osamu arrives home, he delivers the present on your behalf, “Here, Tsumu. This is YN’s gift for you.”
He smiles when he takes the box, “Oh, nice. Thank you—” He looks around... Behind Osamu... To the door, “YN?” He says slowly as he tilts his head.
“She’s sick.” Osamu explains, “She was vomiting all of last night and this morning when I came to pick her up.”
Atsumu frowns at that, “What?”
Why didn’t she call me?
When your eyes blink open, you see Atsumu sitting on your bed.
He lifts his hand to your forehead and greets you with concerned eyes.
I must be seeing things.
“I’m going crazy.” You mumble and turn your back to the figure. I guess I’m more ill than I thought.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were sick?” The voice is crystal clear in your ears.
“Nope.” You push your fingers into your ears, “Go away. I just need more sleep." You nod your head, "That’s probably it.”
Atsumu pulls one of your arms away, “Why didn’t you call me?” He asks, barely above a whisper.
You freeze at the realisation. It’s not a dream… He’s actually here.
“You always call me.” He mumbles and turns to tuck the blankets under your feet, “You hate being sick.” He states.
You watch him fix the blankets some more before asking, “What do you mean?” You croak out, “It’s your birthday…”
He turns to look at you, “So?”
You blink at him confused, “Soooo…” You drag out, “I’m not gonna call you to take care of me.”
He doesn’t speak, but his gaze is too tender to simply be concern for someone who is sick.
It makes you feel uneasy and you fidget under the blankets, “I’ll be fine. Where’s Osamu? You should head back.” You ramble.
You grunt as you sit up, “Go.” You urge him by pushing his shoulders with whatever strength you have left, “You’re missing out on your own birthday party. I’ll be fine.”
“YN…” It almost sounds like a plead.
“Just go.”
But, you can be just as headstrong as he is, “Just go, Atsumu.”
A few beats of silence passes and he stands up on his own accord.
You r gaze drops to your hands in your lap, but you can hear his footsteps fade followed by the click of the door.
You didn’t actually think he would leave.
But he was right, you hated being sick and he would always be the one to take care of you.
But things have changed between the two of you. He has someone else he has to take care of now.
Your body falls back onto the bed at the thought.
You pull the blankets closer to your body to muffle the cries that fall from your lips.
Crying when you were sick was always the worst. The tears feel so much hotter on your cheeks. Like little pinpricks to your eyes.
Atsumu used to be the one to wipe them away.
For now, they’ll just have to soak into your pillowcase.
The first thing you feel when you wake up again is the cold towel on your forehead.
When you look around, you notice that there’s a humidifier on your nightstand and another blanket draped across your body.
“What?”
As you try to make sense of the situation, a loud bang comes from behind the door followed by a string of curse words.
Huh?
You groan as you sit up and your vision sways from having laid down all day.
As you stand, you have to brace yourself against the bed momentarily as your body aches in complaint.
When you exit your room, you’re greeted with the sight of Atsumu crouched down on the kitchen floor, rubbing the top of his head.
“You’re awake.” He says, “Ugghh,” He presses against the sore spot, “I was tryna cook, but damn, your rangehood is so low.”
You’re speechless for a moment, “Why… Why are you still here?”
He places a pot onto the stove as he answers, “Well, yer super sick, why wouldn’t I be here?”
You would be lying if you said you weren’t even the least bit happy to see him here, but of course you’ve got a traitorous mouth, “Atsumu, I told you that I’d be fine.’
He shakes his head, “You were 38 degrees before I left.” Then makes his way over to the dining table, rummaging through a plastic bag, “You need ta take some meds. Come here.” He beckons you over with a wave of his hand.
Your feet moved on their own and before you knew it, you were inches away from him.
But of course, you’re still at war with yourself, “Just go.” You bring a hand up to stop him, “I’ll take them later.” You assure him
But evidently, it does nothing of the sort.
He looks at you with a frown, “Why do you keep brushing me off? Telling me to go away?”
“Because it hurts seeing you here, okay?!” The words fly out of your mouth in a tone you didn’t quite like.
Your chest heaves as you admit it to him.
But your outburst is met with cold silence.
“I really can’t see you right now.” You say through clenched teeth, “I want to stay friends, I do. I want to go back to how we were before… Before all this.” Your hands motion between the two of you, “But it’s so hard, okay?” You look up at him, searching for anything in his eyes.
When he says nothing, you curl into yourself, “Just…Just leave me alone. You’ve done what you need to do.” You place a hand at his back in an attempt to guide him to the front door, “We can end everything here and I…”
You pause as he begins to push back against your hand, “I don’t want to see you again.” You mumble.
Swiftly, he turns around and grabs the plastic bag from the dining table
Oh, right… He can’t just leave without his stuff. You think
But he turns and grabs your wrist as well and leads you back to the bedroom.
“Atsumu! What are you— Let go!”
“Lay down.”
“What?”
“You’re not in your right mind, right now.” He throws the blanket over you. “We can talk when you’re better.”
“Atsumu!”
“— No.” He says sternly.
His tone is enough for you to cease your struggling.
“Sleep.” He guides you to lay down, “We’ll talk when you’re not sick.”
“ You—”
“Enough.” He cuts you off whilst jabbing the sheets between the bed and your body.
You huff in defeat and childishly untuck yourself, “You can’t just bulldoze your way—”
“I said enough.”
In anger you glare at him and it’s only then that you see the hurt that's masked behind his sharp tone.
It catches you off guard.
As he turns to leave, he says, “I’ll... I'll wake you up when I’m finished cooking.”
Why do I hurt myself like this? hahahha

[read part two here]
FEM ALIGNED DNI
(name) had moved away to from hyogo to miyagi halfway into his first year of highschool, but he quickly adjusted to his new school. sure, going from a school that frequented nationals to a former powerhouse is a large change of pace, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle! especially when the first years seemed full of potential.
so when his team finally got a chance to go to nationals, you can bet that the first person (name) told was his boyfriend, atsumu. several misspelled messages were sent in all caps, only prompting a reply of ‘???’, to which (name) responded back with ‘WPN GAME. GO NATONALS.’
atsumu understood that at least. and honestly? he was ecstatic. he gets to see his boyfriend play? and maybe even play against him? he was teeming with excitement at the thought. and the idea of beating (name) sounded pretty appealing.
but that was before their match together. that was before the ball had narrowly escaped his teammates fingertips. that was before inarizaki had lost the game.
(name’s) eyes were glued to the ball as he watched his friend fail to get it up. the ball hit the floor. the team erupted into cheers. (name) latched onto the closest player to him— which happened to be tanaka— shaking him by the shoulders vigorously. they won. he couldn't keep the grin off of his face.
seeing how he hadn't had a chance to see atsumu until their match, (name) had split off from the rest karasuno to find him. eventually, (name) found him by a vending machine.
“‘tsumu! hey!” (name) called, running over. atsumu glanced up.
“hey, love.”
atsumu was engulfed in a hug, his boyfriend's arms wrapped snug around his neck. he faltered for a moment, before returning the hug.
“can't believe we won, ‘tsumu! it's freakin’ crazy! gosh, i knew hinata was a lil’ freak, but he really stepped up this game. did’ya see ‘im receive aran-kun’s spike? that was incredible!” (name) rambled on and on, not noticing the bitter look on atsumu's face.
“yeah, it was pretty cool,” he huffed. “congrats, (name).”
maybe it was because (name) wouldn't shut up about how great his teammates were, or how he was so overjoyed with his win, but something about it made atsumu’s stomach churn. there was a bitter feeling in the pit of his stomach.
“‘tsumu? you okay?” (name) asked, eyebrows furrowed. apparently his response sounded more sarcastic than genuine.
“yeah. why wouldn't i be? m’team jus' lost at nationals.” atsumu scoffed, shoving his hands into his pockets.
“. . .okay, sorry. could ya at least not be all pissy ‘bout it if your boyfriend won?” (name) said.
“i’ll jus' leave, then, if you're really gonna take it personally,” he scoffed.
“maybe ya should.” atsumu retorted. god, he was acting like a child.
(name) stared at atsumu for a moment, before turning around. “. . .fuckin' hell, ‘tsumu.” he groaned quietly, walking off to rejoin his team.
atsumu watched as his boyfriend walked off. ‘shit.’ he kicks the vending machine, a loose can rattling down. he picked it up through the slot.
it was (name's) favorite flavor.
can you guys tell I don't know how to write angst 。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。

[And After?]
(kind of a part II but could be read as a stand alone)
You broke up with Atsumu your final year of high school.
Was it because you both would be in separate areas of Japan and you didn’t want to go long-distance? Partially.
But when you uttered those words, you both knew that wasn’t the real reason.
You stood in front of him, eyes downcast and refusing to meet his.
“I’m leaving for Yokohama. I got accepted to university there.”
His eyes widened and you smiled wryly.
“No congratulations?”
“Congratulations.” Atsumu couldn’t help but say flatly.
“I’m guessing you’re going to continue volleyball.” You felt a tinge of regret. You hadn’t bothered to ask him about scouts or recruitment.
He nodded. “I’ve already gotten offer...None close to Yokohama though.”
You gave him a small smile and shrugged in what you hoped looked like a nonchalant way. “I want to focus on my studies and I don’t think I’ll be able to do that if I’m trying to make a long-distance relationship work.”
His hand clenched and his eyes took on a stubborn look that usually signalled the beginning of an argument. “I’ll make it work. I can come visit and I’ll make time when I’m not practising to call and -”
“Atsumu.” He ached at the resignation in your voice.
“‘Tsumu, I need to get away from here. Just start again y’know.”
His eyes flitted toward the boot on your ankle and you unconsciously shifted in discomfort, at the real reason why you were making the decision. He cursed - at it and the entire situation and you couldn’t help but blink back the tears forming at the corners of your eyes. It wasn’t his fault - it was entirely yours.
There was a thud and a ‘oh my god’ rang out from the women’s volleyball captain.
Atsumu was beside you in an instant. He had watched, wide-eyed in horror, as your leg had crumpled, taking you down with it.
“Give her space,” the captain’s voice rang out as you clutched at your ankle, face twisted in pain. “What even happened?”
“I tripped -,” you spit out through clenched teeth. Atsumu saw how your foot had been wrenched in a position it should never be in and felt a rising panic he tried to stifle. Years of experience on the court told him that this was not a minor injury.
You looked up at him with pleading eyes, and he scooped you up, speeding away to the nurse’s office and away from the pitying looks of your teammates.
You groaned in pain and looked at him with panicked eyes. “Atsumu, this-”
“You’ll be fine. It’s okay, it’s going to be fine.” He chanted as if it would make it true.
Your skin had already turned purple and the area surrounding your ankle had swollen up bigger than an egg. You whimpered, both at the pain shooting up your leg and fear of the consequences of what just happened to you.
A trip to the hospital later and you found yourself hobbling back to school in a few days, ankle held tightly in a brace and leaning against crutches. You knew your ankles were weak from a few sprains over the years and they finally gave up and the muscle had torn.
Atsumu had held you while you sobbed as the doctor told you that you couldn’t play for the rest of your final year and most likely needed rehab for longer than that. He was there, waiting outside the classroom to carry your bag between classes and helped you around school. He was there when he found you, squatting with your back against the outside of the gym doors, crying about how unfair it was and he was there to shush you when you beat yourself up for being so clumsy.
It took a while, but eventually you came around and accepted the situation - well you made your peace with it as best you could. You focused on steadily on doing rehab exercises, gritting your teeth and sweating through the pain. You began to joke around again, bickered with Atsumu as you held hands in the school corridors when you graduated to just wearing a boot, and went back to chatting animatedly with your friends.
Atsumu had tried to be positive and not treat you any differently to maintain some sort of normalcy. But when he realised you no longer came to watch the teams practice, he found it hard to swallow the lump in his throat and felt his chest tighten. He stopped looking towards the stands at games, knowing you weren’t there, and forced a fake smile that reflected yours when you politely congratulated him on his wins. He’d never felt such helplessness whenever he caught you staring absent-mindedly out of the window during class, your eyes dull and shoulders slumped.
“The change will be good for me and I don’t - I don’t really want anything to do with volleyball anymore," you said, confessing what he’d known all year.
“It might seem dramatic because I know I can do PT and get better again but I’ll never be back to how I used to play.” You shrugged again casually and he hated it.
“And honestly? I was tired of it anyway. I can’t remember a time I haven’t had bruises or walked without stressing about getting hurt. I like waking up at a normal time and not at the ungodly hours of the morning and not having to force myself to exercise or eat a certain diet. I want to go somewhere completely new and live life free without remembering how difficult all that was.”
Atsumu felt hollow. “But you loved volleyball so much you never minded that before?” He wanted to yell. But he knew it was hopeless - you were determined to throw volleyball away and he was always going to be a part of that.
And so, you were throwing him away too.
“Don’t worry, I’ll still be cheering you on, even if I’m not there,” you gave him another smile that he wanted to scream at.
He couldn’t bear to see how hard you were forcing yourself to be normal and he pulled you into his arms and squeezed tightly, as if you’d disappear right then and there.
“We can keep in touch okay?”
He nodded into your shoulder, not trusting himself to say anything that could drive you any further away than you were already were. He knew you well after dating you these past couple of years. He knew how stubborn you could be about certain things and while he was equally as stubborn, he didn’t want to end things with the two of you screaming and arguing. He needed to accept that you needed to heal and that you didn’t want his help in doing so.
Your hand stroked the back of his hair affectionately, untangling the knots and failing to soothe him.
“I’ll see you around, Atsumu.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few years passed. You survived university and you managed to get a job back in Osaka at an arts museum and were grateful that your hard work had paid off. You got a new apartment, dated here and there, and went out with friends. All in all, you were content with your life.
And some nights after work, you’d make a cup of tea,
snuggle into some blankets on your couch,
grab the remote,
and watch the MSBY game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You loved being at the museum. Everything was neat, orderly, and most importantly, quiet. The silence, save for soft murmurs, was comforting. You didn’t have to speak much and spent most of your day hanging out with paintings. It was a stark change from the sounds of balls smashing against wooden floors, sneakers squeaking, and the constant cheers of teammates. Playing such a team-oriented sport had forced you to be around people all the time and you savoured being able to introspect and have alone time now.
You were in a particularly good mood that day. The cute barista had drawn a flower on your cup, you managed to get on the bus on time, and a new exhibit with one of your favourite artists had just begun.
You weaved in and out of different rooms, occasionally writing down information on your ipad regarding the works to present at a meeting later. The muffled atmosphere was music to your ears until you heard a loud laugh accompanied by not-so-silent whispers.
Ugh who is being so disruptful? Do they not know basic etiquette for places like this?
The voices grew louder as you walked in that direction and you shook your head. Probably some youths who didn’t know respect.
You strode into the room ready to scold some rambunctious teen boy when you locked eyes with a very familiar blonde-haired guy.
He had put his hand by his face in an attempt to whisper to a girl beside him and had frozen with his mouth open when he saw you. You kept a straight face as you walked forward, catching yourself nearly snorting at the “caught-with-his-hand-in-the-cookie-jar” expression he had.
“Excuse me sir,” you said sternly, “I’m not sure if you read the sign outside, but you are supposed to keep your voice down here.” He straightened stiffly at your tone and the girl he was whispering to looked at you with alarmed eyes.
“I-I’m sorry ma’am.” She stuttered out.
Atsumu tried to stifle a laugh, saving himself by coughing as your eye twitched. Ma’am? I’m not a grandma.
You whipped your attention to him. “And I’ll have you know that we don’t have any exceptions - even for superstar volleyball players.” Your voice was cold but your eyes held a familiar shine, and he relaxed. He made a note that you still sucked at having a poker face and he could tell you weren’t actually mad.
“What about the handsome ones?” He said grinning but faltered when you didn’t crack. Perhaps he didn’t know you as well as he used to.
You finally sighed and Atsumu mentally danced in victory as you finally gave up your act. “Especially the handsome ones. We hold those to an even higher standard.”
“What are you doing here?” he demanded and you shushed him, dragging him out of the room.
“What are you doing here?” he said whispering this time.
“I work here. What are you doing here?” you shot back, “Since when do you go to places like this?”
“Actually he’s been into art for a few years now,” you turned to see Osamu walking towards you grinning. “Hi y/n.”
“'Samuuu,” you greeted and gave him a hug while Atsumu twitched at the exchange.
“Yeah well I -,” the setter said, scratching the back of his kneck and looking uncomfortable, “It’s an important part of society and culture and stuff.” It's not like he used Osamu to mildly stalk you over the years or anything weird like that.
You looked at him incredulously. "And you chose to come here?”
“No, my fiance wanted to go,” Osamu cut in. “Apparently it has one of the best collections.”
The blonde girl who Atsumu had been whispering to peeked from behind his figure waving. “Hi!”
You blinked, surprised. You had assumed the beautiful girl was Atsumu’s girlfriend. Not that you cared of course.
The three of you exchanged pleasantries, Osamu mainly driving the conversation. His restaurant was doing well apparently and he and the girl were due to be married in a month or so.
“Congratulations!” you squealed, beaming at the both of them.
“Yer welcome to come,” Osamu said winking and you giggled. Osamu was always easy to talk to and you were glad that hadn’t changed.
“I’ll have to see if I’m free,” you replied with a smile and internally pushed the thought of seeing Atsumu looking radiant in a suit and standing at the end of an aisle out of your mind.
Speaking of the man, he had been uncharacteristically quiet during the conversation - a fact that did not escape his twin.
“Well,” Osamu said, “Kaori wanted to check out the special exhibit so we’ll head there first.”
The now dark-haired brother dragged his fiance off and with that the two of you were left alone.
“I should head back-”
“How are you-”
Both of you stopped and he scratched the back of his kneck again. “Right yeah you have to work.”
You nodded. “I should go.”
He bit his lip and looked at the floor. You couldn’t help a small smile looking at such a large man looking so timid.
“Atsumu.” He glanced up, your eyes locked for the first time. It registered how he was a man now, the softer curves of his face had become more angular and he was even taller than before with a broader build as well.
“It was really nice to see you again.” A glimmer sparked in his eyes your statement.
“And we have some cool new exhibits coming up you know since you’re so interested in art and all now…” You trailed off as he shot you a breathtaking grin and you desperately tried to ignore the fact that you were still weak for it even after all these years.
“Yeah I saw some of the posters. I’ll drop by if I see something I like.” He winked and you almost rolled your eyes as you turned to swiftly walk away, heart pounding in your chest faster than it had in years.
Why did I have to blurt that out??? You groaned internally before speeding off to your meeting. You remembered the warm brown of his eyes. Yep. Definitely still weak. Damn it.
After that, Atsumu started showing up to the museum. Every Saturday in fact.
You did a double-take the first time you saw the setter standing in front of a painting with headphones on. You walked over to stand beside him and peeked at him, catching his attention.
“What are you doing here?” you found yourself parroting when he lowered his headphones.
“It’s a museum,” he said confused, “I’m looking at the artwork. You said to come by?”
“I-” you tilted your head to the side, a bit flustered at his re-appearance. Ah that was a stupid question why y/n why??
You bit your lip. You didn’t think he’d actually come. Wasn’t he busy??
“Okay, please enjoy our collections.” You said in a formal voice before walking away, cringing at your awkwardness.
But after a while, you began looking forward to Saturdays and would make an excuse to wander the halls to see where he was. He’d shoot you a toothy smile when he saw you before turning back to the works with a pensive face. Hasn’t he memorised the works by now? You shook your head as you headed back to your office. He did have poor memory from what you remembered.
As you sat down at your desk, you thought back to what happened years ago, remembering how overwhelming everything felt. It took all this time for you to become yourself again and it had taken nearly repressing most of high school to succeed in forgetting all the trauma.
But after seeing Atsumu, you remembered all the good that came with those times too. How you’d hit Atsumu with the volleyball the first time you met, the fighting and bickering that came after, and how surprising it was that the two of you ended up dating. How he used to walk you home after both your practices ended and helped you with your serves. How after your injury, he spent his time not practising nodding off beside you in the library to keep you company and his goofy smile when he saw you supporting him at games . He’d even show up at the part time job you took your final year in a desperate attempt to find something to occupy you during all the free time you suddenly had by pretending he was a customer. You fought back a smile.
Kind of like he was doing now.
You swung your feet as you sat on the edge of the fountain, the both of you sipping on iced coffees. He’d taken to accompanying you on your break and you’d often go to a nearby cafe together.
“Are you even allowed to be out in public like this? I mean Sakusa-san’s always in a cap and glasses whenever I see him in the news photos.”
“Omi hates being social to begin with so he’s extra paranoid when he goes out.” Atsumu shrugged before grinning cockily. That cockiness made you bristle in annoyance - a reflex of yours that hadn’t changed. “What, scared you’ll get caught in a scandal with me?”
“I just don’t want your fangirls coming after me,” you said flatly.
He scoffed in response. “Don’t tell me you’re scared of them?”
“I don’t want to be harassed about it. I’ll end up getting pushed around,” you frowned.
“As if,” he snorted, “You aren’t the type to be bullied so easily.” He felt the ghost of a volleyball slamming into his back and chuckled.
Your frown deepened in disagreement and Atsumu glanced at you before continuing. He never liked to see you doubt yourself. You used to be so confident, standing on the court steadfastly with your eyes alight with mischief. Even when you told him you got into university, there had been a prideful look on your face that he had been relieved to see.
“Though it might be a good idea to have a few photos snapped of us. Our PR team says I need to shake off this playboy image.”
“Image?”
An indignant noise erupted from the man beside you. “Contrary to popular belief, I am NOT a fuckboy. When do I have the time to sleep around? I’m either at practice, matches, or here with you!” He pouted and crossed his arms.
“I’m honoured that the great Atsumu Miya chooses to grace me with his presence during my busy work day,” you said dryly.
“Exactly, you’d be lucky to be caught with me,” he said, winking.
“Still a celebrity I see,” you said shaking your head and opted to look away to focus on the bustle of people around the plaza.
“I’m not bothering ya, right?” You looked at him, confused, as he kept his gaze on the passersby as well. “Ya know, from yer busy work day.”
“Since when do you care about things like that?” Miya Atsumu was not the type to ask permission to intrude on someone’s life.
“I didn’t know if it would be okay,” he said softly and in a tone much more serious than you expected. “To see you again. I know we tried to leave on good terms but…”
You knew what he was talking about. It was good terms - well the best you could do at the time but there was a sense of uneasiness. As if you lost something and you had been so eager to get away that you didn’t realise just what you lost. Seeing him again brought memories back, memories of a time that meant a great deal to you.
“Why do you come back then?”
“I can’t seem to stay away,” he said, chuckling weakly.
“Don’t tell me you haven’t gotten over me yet or something,” you teased, trying to lighten the mood. When Atsumu didn’t respond you felt your breath hitch as your throat felt suddenly tighten. You snuck a peek at him and when your gazes locked, both of you cleared your throats looking away quickly.
“Osamu’s wedding is next week,” he suddenly said, pulling you out of your thoughts.
“Oh right. He must be excited,” you smiled. It was nice that your friend had gotten such a happy ending.
“Want to be my plus one?”
“I believe I was invited.” You raised an eyebrow at him.
He mirrored your raised eyebrow and said, “What, so you’re bringing a plus one?” You laughed at his audacity in automatically thinking you didn’t.
“Maybe I am? You never asked me if I had a boyfriend ‘Tsumu.”
He frowned. “Well do ya? It’s hard to do better than me, you know.”
“Wow, you’re still a dick.”
“And you still dated me. So do you?”
You wanted to press your palms to your eyes in exasperation. How was he still the same?
“No I do not have a boyfriend, Atsumu.”
“What a coincidence,” he said, shooting you the toothy smile. “I don’t have one either so we can go together.”
“You don’t have a boyfriend?”
This time it was Atsumu that felt a surge of exasperation. “A date smartass. So it’s perfect if we go together.”
He cut off your noise of protest at his sudden declaration by waving his hand, “I think your break is almost over. I’ll text you more about it later okay?” he said and walked off, turning around once to frantically wave goodbye at you.
You gave a half-hearted wave before making a shoo-ing motion at him. As you watched him finally turn and leave, you felt your smile slowly fading. You wanted to keep Atsumu at a distance and you had a strong instinct to flee - to go back to ignoring that part of your life. But how could you? You stupidly still found him charming after all these years. Miya Atsumu was slowly managing to worm his way back into your life and you found you were reluctant to kick him out.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the insistence of his fiance, Osamu had decided to hold his wedding near the beach. You had been stunned at how pretty the venue was and admittedly a bit jealous at how gorgeous Kaori looked when she was showing you her wedding gown. You were also a bit nervous at spending a whole weekend with Atsumu around and knowing his personality, he would make sure he’d be harassing you the entire time.
Your suspicions were indeed correct. After you arrived at the hotel, you slid your key card into your room lock and found the red light blinking, preventing your access to a hot shower you desperately needed. You grunted in annoyance, dumping your heavy suitcase on the ground and aggressively slid the card in and out. The red light continued to greet you and you swore in response.
“Why is this not working??”
You heard a click and the door opened to reveal a damp Atsumu, towel slung around his neck and wearing nothing but boxer shorts.
“I thought I heard a sailor with a potty mouth,” he grinned, rubbing the end of the towel against his hair to dry it.
“Atsumu?? What are you doing in my room??”
“y/n I think you mean my room?”
“What? I’m in room 261?”
“You’re in 262,” he said simply and pointed down the hall.
You blinked at him and he snatched the card from your limp hand, lifting your discarded bag from the floor.
You spluttered uselessly as you trailed after him. He slid the card in and green light betrayed you. He easily opened the door and looked at you pointedly, “See this is what it looks like when you use the key for the right door.”
“Whatever,” you grumbled and just as you were about to thank him, he strolled through the door.
“What are you doing? I never said you could go in!”
“Nice,” he said looking around. “It’s the same as mine.”
“No shit,” you were about to say but yelped again when he dumped both your suitcase and himself on the bed.
“I swear your bed is softer,” he remarked as he laid sprawled out on his back.
“You’re getting it wettt,” you whined and he propped himself up on his elbows, his eyebrow lifting.
“You have a hot, shirtless pro-athlete on your bed and you’re complaining about the bed getting wet?”
“I think I’m more questioning why you have boxers with ducks on them,” you mocked trying to ignore that you did, in fact, have a hot, shirtless pro-athlete on your bed.
His lips stretched into a familiar shit-eating grin. “Maybe you’re just grouchy that YOU aren’t wet on the-.”
“MIYA ATSUMU,” you screamed, horrified as you rushed over to clamp a hand over his mouth. Of course, you being you, you nearly tripped as you reached the bed and you yelped as strong arms pulled you forward.
Your palms landed on a VERY solid chest and you looked up to see Atsumu’s face dangerously close to yours. Your eyes widened and you pushed yourself up only to have warm hands grip your thighs, stopping your attempt to get off of the offensive boy.
His eyebrows shot up as you sat, straddled on top of him. “Now we can change that if you-”
“UGH,” you threw your body weight to the side and tumbled off the bed.
“Nice to see you’re still clumsy.” He peered down at your dishevelled figure sitting on the floor glaring at him. “How you managed to play a sport, I’ll never know.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Atsumu regretted it. He internally cursed as you refused to meet his eyes, lips twisting unhappily. His mouth was dry as he tried to smooth over his mistake.
“I mean I didn’t-” He stammered.
“I don’t know if you recall Miya,” You nearly spit and you saw him flinch as you stood up putting your hands on your hips. “But I was an EXCELLENT volleyball player.”
Yours eyes flashed at him in a defiant way and he nearly fell for you all over again.
“Ehh but your serves kinda sucked.”
“Oh I don’t think you’re in a position to call my serves shit Mr. ‘Don't make me lose my focus or I’ll throw a temper tantrum’.”
“Though,” you pondered for a moment. “You don’t seem to mind people cheering nowadays.”
He sat up, a triumphant smile slowly spreading across his face this time. “Oho and how would you know that? Has someone been stalking my games?”
Your eye twitched and your mouth opened and closed. You wracked your brain desperately for a way to deny this without sounding stupid before settling for a lame, “Get out Miya.”
“You know if you wanna come watch all you have to do is ask, princess,” he said half-jokingly, half-hopeful that you would make the request.
“Leave Miya,” you repeated, refusing to acknowledge that you did want to see him play. “I’m going to take a shower and I don’t wanna see you when I get out,” you warned as you moved towards the bathroom.
“I can help you if you feel lonely~” he chuckled as he heard the door slam. Not wanting to push your wrath any further, he got up stretching before leaving the room.
He was greeted with a face identical to his standing outside the door.
“Ah so this is why you asked for the room next door to y/n.”
“You were listening? Creep.” He said, striding past Osamu towards his own room.
“I’m glad the two of you seem to be getting along,” he heard the amusement laced in his brother’s voice.
“Yeah,” Atsumu said softly with his hand paused on the handle of his door. “I hope we are.”
There was a silence between the two brothers and they distantly heard the sound of kids running down the hallways of the hotel somewhere.
“What? Too reluctant to leave her already?”
Atsumu grimaced and Osamu nearly threw his hands up. “I know you’re whipped but she’s next door ‘Tsumu.”
“Osamu,” Atsumu said in a serious manner that made his twin scrunch his face in concern. “I forgot my key card.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sun was setting as Atsumu blearily opened his eyes. He hadn’t had a nap in years and it felt weird to actually get some rest. He rolled over to grab his phone and saw a message from his brother.
If you plan on waking up anytime soon, we’ll be down at the beach.
He groaned and opted to scroll through instagram when he got another message.
[y/n] is here too.
He remained unmoving on his back for a moment before groaning again and rolled his eyes up towards the ceiling at the bait his twin set. Pulling on a pair of red basketball shorts and throwing on an old Stussy shirt, he made his way down to the beach.
The sound of seagulls and crashing waves greeted him as his feet hit the sand. There were yells, the sounds of laughter, and he was surprised to see a volleyball net set up nearby. His eyes flitted towards Kaori blowing Osamu a kiss from across the net and froze as he saw a familiar figure yell at her about fraternising with the enemy.
There you were, face glowing with excitement, standing at the service line and spinning a volleyball in your hands. His feet took off towards the net before he could think and his gaze was glued to you as your palm made contact with the ball.
He could practically hear your ‘tsk’ sound as Osamu dug it up and he couldn’t help but worriedly look at your ankle as you crouched low. Kaori jumped to block and his heart pounded in anticipation.
You darted out and dove, sending the ball high into the air. You scrambled to quickly get up and jogged back, your eyes following the set arching back towards you.
Atsumu unconsciously held his breath as he watched you jump, feet kicked back behind you and arm drawn back - the orange sunset behind you highlighting your form.
A malicious smile spread across your face as you found Osamu jumping up to reach over the net and you spiked against his arms.
“OUT,” his fiance screamed as the ball ricocheted off the block and outside the court.
“C’mon ‘Samu,” Atsumu heard your teasing voice. “You must be getting old if you let me score off of you like that.” You finally noticed his figure by the makeshift court and perked up. “Oh, 'Tsumu’s awake!”
He finally let out a breath when he saw you and Kaori waving excitedly at him. “Atsumu! Come join us!”
“Aw, how is that fair,” Osamu’s teammates groaned. “You guys can’t have a professional player on your team!”
“Suck it up,” you stuck a tongue out at him. “Atsumu is mine so you can’t have him.” You laughed gleefully at the protest that came from the opposing side and you playfully nudged him as he came to stand beside you at the net.
He smiled down at you for a second and as you stared into his eyes, momentarily mesmerised. He looked at you with such familiarity and warmth and you couldn’t help but shyly smile in return.
Your gaze was interrupted by a low growl.
Atsumu’s eyes flitted up to meet his twin's through the net. “Pro or not, 'Tsumu you’re going down.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The games continued until the stars were coming out and you all settled around a fire, snacking on fruit as a reward for all the exercise. You felt the sand shift and Atsumu plopped down beside you.
“I didn’t know you played.”
You grimaced at the slight hint of betrayal in his voice.
“I can’t seem to stay away,” you laughed, repeating his words from the fountain. “I play some pickup games here and there.”
“...and you’re all healed now?”
“Yeah,” you said quietly. “I go to PT but the muscle has been healed for a while. I have to wear a brace when I play but it’s more out of caution.”
“It still creaks sometimes though,” you made a face.
“Still. It’s good to see you stand on a court again.”
You looked over and winced at the expression on his face. He had a wry smile that didn't suit his face and a distant look to his eyes.
“I’m sorry Atsumu.” His gaze remained trained towards the darkness of the ocean. “I realised I never apologised for treating you badly back then. I know it’s not an excuse, but I was angry and hurt and all I could think was to get away to protect myself. I couldn’t think about anything else - anyone else.”
A muscle flexed in his jaw. “I know. I know better than anyone but god y/n, I was there for you wasn’t I?” He couldn’t help the reproach in his voice. “And you,” he bit his lip. “You just threw me away.”
With those words, Atsumu realised what he’d been feeling since your breakup all those years ago - resentment. He felt guilty for doing so and he’d pushed it deep down but it was threatening to spill out from him now.
“‘'Samu quit playing and then you left,” he said hoarsely. “You both left me alone.”
“You had your team,” you tried to argue weakly.
“Wasn’t the same.” He shook his head, broad shoulders slumping and he tucked his knees up, resting his head on them. “And you said that you would always be there for me," he said in a small voice.
This boy - no this man - had done so much for you. Back in high school and now, he remained insistent on being by your side, even when you pushed him away.
“I’m sorry,” you repeated lamely. “I can’t thank you enough for supporting me and loving me then.”
“And I’m thankful that you’re in my life again.” You reached out a hand to cover his. His palm turned and he wrapped his fingers around yours. “I know I’m late,” you hesitated, gathering your courage before taking the plunge. “I’d like to be a part of yours again, if you’d let me.”
The blonde setter finally looked at you and his eyes crinkled in a joyful manner that suddenly made you see the image of a younger, teen Miya Atsumu - the one you had loved so much. You both felt something - as if you found a missing puzzle piece fallen on the floor - placed back into its rightful place.
“I’d like that."
Epilogue
“Relax, she said she’s running late right?” A sullen boy with raven curly hair pushed Atsumu towards the court. The stadium was already loud as people waited in anticipation for the MSBY match to start.
He nodded, repeating to himself that you indeed sent him a text earlier saying you would be late. Besides, they were just warming up. The match hadn’t started yet and there was plenty of time left.
The empty seat beside Osamu seemed to mock him as he recalled the time when he ached upon seeing it empty yet again. He shook his head as if to clear it as the whistle blew to signal the teams should start warming up their serves.
“WHOO let’s go ‘'Tsumu!”
His eyes couldn’t leave your figure, clad in his jersey, lifting both your arms in the air and shaking pom poms. He let out a smile, one goofy enough that Sakusa rolled his eyes as he mouthed an ‘i love you,’ towards the stands.
He looked away triumphantly at your stunned figure as the whistle blew, this time to signal the beginning of the match. He focused his mind toward the game giddily and cemented his resolve that they would win today.
Because the seat was finally filled. You were there.
Right where you were supposed to be.

I need someone to write this-
OKAY! Basically, I love the stupid playboy trope where your character of choice is a huge playboy (usually in college), kind of a hoe doing hoe things right. Along those lines, I love the angst where they end up going for reader cause either they’re gen interested but keep up a facade for looks or do it for a bet.
Anyways, in au, character of choice is a huge playboy. Going from person to person, hottest bitch there and knows it. They decided to set sights on the reader for one of the reasons above. Reader in this case can be like a nerd or not (for me pls be a sorta nerd- they don’t have to be quite but like they don’t usually run in the same friend group character of choice does, also for some ppl- NOT ALL NERDS ARE QUIET, they will be the loudest ppl esp with their friends). Sooo, character of choice is trying to get with the reader, being all sweet and flirty. Reader isn’t buying this bs and keeps turning them down- until the cliche where the character does something that makes the reader’s heart go dokie dokie.
They eventually start dating and eventually do the thing right- and after that character of choice kinda ghosts them. Like either they get distant, makes fun of them, and/or straight up ghost them. This spreads around and reader is crush- popular or not it’s a sucky situation (I hope no one in real life gets put in) and is stuck with that for the rest of their senior year in undergrad. Luckily, they’re not a whole outcast so some people stick up for them but character of choice just doesn’t give a fuck (or in some cases does but can’t show it cause they don’t have the balls to do so🤷). Anyways, the whole situation sticks but reader keeps pushing through, ignoring all the shit but keeps going (they also have friends cause I’m not that mean and i think I’d cry tbh).
Fast forward, they graduate their senior year of undergrad. Whatever field they’re in they plan on furthering the degree cause they’re a bad bitch like that. But a month after they graduate- the big cliche, they’re pregnant. For this troupe ofc the reader is afab but feel free to have them be gn! If you so please (as an afab genderfluid person I pray for this but ofc whatever makes you comfy).
They panic obviously unsure what to do cause- they just got in postgrad, their baby daddy is a dick, and they’re not fully ready for a kid. Time goes on and they decide to keep the child but not tell character of choice.
(Purely cause I plan to major in it, maybe they’re going into marine biology or something performing arts like Idk. Realistically you could have them go into some sort of science thing or something along with business- idk I guess I’d like to see other and different careers stuff for reader 😭)
But yea, it moves to present day which is like 6-7 years in the future. There are a couple of ways this pans out:
1. They end up getting their post grad degree or whatever and work at the same company character of choice is working. Obvi reader recognizes them but character of choice (for more angst) doesn’t or does but chooses to ignore it feeling a bit guilty. They work together and reader is VERY closed off to them, ofc still very pissed on what went down between the two. But, they still work together and character of choice kinda wants to get closer. Reader keeps putting up more walls out of fear for what happened in uni and having to reveal they have a kid with them. Yet, some crazy event happens (their parent can’t watch the kid, something happens at the kids school, whatever) and reader has to get their kid. It ends up character of choice spotting the kid and freezing cause they looks exactly like them OR have a good mix of both reader and their psychical traits (like maybe they got character of choice’s eyes or hair 🤷). Eventually, the two have to have a serious talk and reader finally admits the kid is theirs. ATP you can have it where they decide to let character choice in since the kid deserves their other parent if present (as someone raised with an absent dad and 2 shitty step dads I can see all different perspectives of the situation). And blah blah blah, the character of choice tries being a good parent and eventually does and even falls for the reader (even more maybe). But obvi reader doesn’t trust them so it’s up to how you want it to end.
2. Reader peruses a career in field of choice (if you do follow with the marine biology idea- I’m giving you so many kisses 💋). Either cause they’re in the same field, they have an event that causes an overlap, or purely they see each other again- character of choice and reader meet. Again, character of choice can either not remember them, does remember but pretends not to out of guilt or whatever, or does remember and tries to show remorse. Reader just bushes it off and tries to get away. If you want, character of choice does try to go after reader- maybe on the edge of stalking but mainly going to their work and trying to talk to them or what not. Up to you boo. It all leads up to the same situation where the character finds out about the kid and ends up being apart of their life.
This idea came to me cause deadass finished reading a couple fanfics and needed more angst (and fluff) material. Idk why I love playboy troupes (daddy issues, trauma, being seen as special, etc) but I like when they change for the better or at least try too. Also, I just love the idea of having a family (with or without a partner cause single parents are baddies).
If I have the time or energy, I’ll probs write this but if not- if someone does end up writing this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAG ME. <3

One Track Mind
Miya Atsumu x f!reader | rated E | 1.3k
Atsumu is horny, as usual, but you’re a little busy with work….until you’re on top of him.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~
“Babe, I’m working,” you tell him, sitting on the floor with your back against the couch, typing away on your computer to finish your last hour of work.
“But I need you,” he whines, stretching out on the couch, laying with his arm around your neck.
“You’re such a baby,” you tease him, still typing.
“Oh yeah?” He smirks. “Would a baby do this?” He trails his hand down your chest and cups your breast, squeezing it hard and jiggling it.
“I mean maybe?” You joke with a flat face, completely unphased.
“You know some fucked up babies then,” he laughs, his hand still holding your tit.
You both sit like that for a while in silence as you continue your work. His hand slowly kneading at your breast as you type your response to an email.
“Babe,” he suddenly whispers.
“Hm?” You perk your ear up to him, not taking your eyes off your screen.
“I’m horny,” he says.
“You’re always horny, babe.”
“But I’m extra horny today,” he whines in a deep guttural voice that sends a chill down your spine.
You hear him shift behind you, adjusting his position on the couch. His hand on you slowly trails down your stomach, lifting the hem of your shirt and dragging it up. The tips of his fingers flutter across your skin, as the rough patches of his hands give your goosebumps. He reaches to grab your tit again, your nipple pebbling at his touch.
“Mm,” he moans behind you. You hear his breath quicken and a familiar squelching sound.
“Tsum?” You hum, punctuating your last sentence and sending the email.
“Yes, love?” He strains to answer you through gritting teeth.
“Are you touching yourself right now?” You ask, closing your laptop and slightly turning to see his eyes closed and lip caught between his teeth.
“Mhmm,” he hums. His hand slowly stroking himself in his sweatpants.
“Do you want me to help you?” You ask, devilishly smiling up at him now that your work is done.
“God, yes!” His eyes fly open to see you on your knees next to him. His hand slid down your body with the movement, landing on your ass and giving it a quick, teasing slap, making you gasp.

Jealousy: Atsumu
The celebratory buzz of victory still lingered heavy in the air, blending seamlessly with the steady hum of the dimly lit bar. Neon lights glowed softly overhead, reflecting off half-empty glasses and illuminating faces flushed from laughter and excitement. The MSBY Jackals had just secured another victory, and the night was young—filled with endless possibilities for celebration.
You excused yourself briefly, slipping away to the bathroom to freshen up, confident Atsumu would manage fine for a few minutes without you. After all, he was your boyfriend, and everyone on the team knew it.
But apparently, not everyone in the bar did.
Returning a few moments later, your eyes instantly zeroed in on your boyfriend, who was leaning against the bar, drink in hand, politely nodding at something a pretty brunette was enthusiastically telling him. Her gestures were exaggerated, her smile bright and flirtatious, eyes gleaming with undisguised interest.
Atsumu, ever the people-pleaser, was wearing his usual easy smirk, clearly indulging the conversation while keeping it just polite enough to not be rude. He wasn’t uncomfortable—just looking for the right opportunity to leave without making a scene. You, however, were not nearly as patient.
The sharp twinge of jealousy that shot through your chest was unexpected, hot, and immediate, intensifying further when the girl boldly reached out, her delicate fingers lingering on his bicep as she laughed at something he said. Your eyes narrowed sharply, irritation prickling beneath your skin, making your pulse quicken.
You moved forward before you fully processed it, steps deliberate, chin held high. Without hesitation, you reached Atsumu’s side, sliding your arm firmly through his and pressing yourself close, your chest intentionally brushing against him. You felt him tense slightly in surprise before relaxing instantly when he recognized your touch.
"Hey, babe," you purred softly, voice dripping honey as you leaned up, pressing a slow, deliberate kiss just beneath his jawline, lips grazing the warm skin of his neck. Atsumu stiffened again, but this time it was from something entirely different, a shiver rippling down his spine as you let your lips linger just a bit longer than necessary.
Pulling back with a possessive little smile, you turned your attention to the woman whose hand had fallen awkwardly away, eyes wide in stunned silence.
"Oh," you said innocently, tilting your head just slightly. "Who's your new friend, 'Tsumu?"
Atsumu cleared his throat, clearly biting back an amused grin. "Honestly, I didn't catch her name."
The woman laughed awkwardly, cheeks flushing pink as she waved a hand in embarrassment. "Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize you were... together."
"Oh, no worries," you smiled sweetly, your eyes glittering with playful sharpness. "He’s a pretty polite guy, isn’t he? Almost too nice for his own good sometimes." You chuckled lightly, your fingers tracing gentle circles along his arm. Then, as if remembering something, you turned to Atsumu, voice light and casual, "I think I’m done for the night. Wanna head out?"
Atsumu barely hesitated before flashing you a lazy grin. "Yeah, sounds good."
You turned back to the woman, still smiling as she swallowed thickly, her face now a shade darker. "Are you a fan? It's always lovely to meet his fans."
The woman opened her mouth—then closed it, nodding mutely.
"Well, we’re heading out. Hope ya have a great night!" you chirped before steering Atsumu toward the exit, satisfied with how quickly the situation had turned in your favor.
The second she was out of sight, Atsumu glanced down at you, eyebrows raised, a mischievous grin slowly spreading across his lips. "Ya okay there, sweetheart?"
You sighed, lips pursed in annoyance. "I’m fine."
His grin widened knowingly. "Ya sure? Seemed a little territorial back there."
"I was not territorial," you huffed defensively, fingers tightening unconsciously around his arm.
Atsumu chuckled warmly, leaning in until his lips brushed teasingly against your ear, breath warm as he whispered, "Sure felt like it."
Heat spread across your cheeks as you shoved at his shoulder lightly, embarrassment mixing with lingering irritation. "Shut up. You weren’t exactly doing a good job of making her leave."
He laughed, the rich sound rumbling through his chest as he wrapped an arm securely around your waist, guiding you gently toward the exit. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever helps ya sleep at night."
Rolling your eyes fondly, you leaned into him, smiling despite yourself. "You're impossible."
"Mhm," he hummed, pressing a teasing kiss to the top of your head, his voice dropping to a low, amused murmur. "But ya love it."
Then, in a lower, rougher tone, he added, "And, not gonna lie, kinda turned me on."
You blinked, heat spreading to your ears now as you gave him a side glance. "Are you serious?"
Atsumu smirked, tugging you just a bit closer as his lips barely grazed the shell of your ear. "Wanna head home and find out?"
The weight of his words settled between you, thick and charged. You exhaled softly, your fingers brushing along the hem of his jacket. "You’re really impossible."
"Mhm," Atsumu hummed, mischief dancing in his golden eyes as he leaned down, lips hovering just over yours. "But I’m yours."

atsumu..i can’t..
Description: this can’t happen i can’t do this to you, i refuse to use you for my own selfish desires.
takes place in a college setting!
╔══《✧》══╗
you’re here sitting on his dorm room floor, knees touching and your face is hot. “ i still can’t believe i’m away from osamu, finally my own room”. he responds throwing his head back on the edge of his bed.
“ i still can’t believe you have a twin, when do i get to meet him?” you respond to him smiling when he makes a twisted face. “ hopefully never, i don’t need his grubby hands getting ahold of you, you’re one of the only people who’re mine. “ he responds while crossing his arms.
You’re heart skips a beat. ‘ his? ‘ the thought it self makes butterflies form into your stomach. “ what? what’s with the face?” “ huh? “ you respond.
“ you’re smiling to yourself…don’t tell me you’re think about that black haired freak!! just letting you know i’m wayyy more handsome then him.”
you laugh at his childish antics, “ hmm i don’t know, a strong guys who can cook? sounds like a snack..literally .”
Atsumu pauses for a second before he stands up from his floor and says “ i can see you no longer want to be friends! i’ll take my leave.” walking out of the room with yours and his water bottle on hand.
Standing up and walking out to his bathroom you smell a smell. ‘ smells like man ‘ but you give him grace, living with 3 other guys must be hard. You do your business and as you dry your hands from washing them, you hear a knock at the door.
“ Y/n! are you in there? “ “ come in “. the door opens and you see atsumu “ did you poop it stinks in here.” “ it’s you and your smell dorm mates “ “ fair enough “.
“ sooo” “ so”. silence, comfortable but still silence. decide to be the first one to speak up you say “ is there any reason you stopped me in the bathroom? “ poking his lips out and putting and hand over his heart he responds “ i missed my favorite girl.”
“ don’t call me what you call your hook up girls.” “ hey i haven’t done anything with a girl in like 2 months “ he says while pointing a finger at you.
“ i always knew you and suna had something going on the way you talked about high school was-“ you’re quickly cut off by a finger on you lips shushing you. “ Stoppppp “.
Removing his finger from your lips he says “ you’re not funny “ feeling like pushing his buttons you smirk and say “ you know you’re making me mad, sitting osumus lap would probably fix it”
Quickly shutting up after atsumu takes a step closer to you. putting his hands on your shoulders he looks you in the eyes. “ stop with this osamu crap” he says in almost a mumble, barely audible to the ear.
“ atsumu “ you speak. instead of listening he lowers his hands and settles them on your waist. pull you into a hug, raising one hand back up and pressing your head in his chest. “atsumu “ you speak again but this time it goes straight into chest.
Turn your head to the side having ur cheek smushed into his chest. warping your arms around his waist you say “ i didn’t expect to get a feel of your boobs “
Peeling your head away from the warmth of his chest, astumu’s hand falls down to your cheek. You lean into his cheek, astumu takes a small step towards you and leans down. your hands coming up to his chest you mumble out a “ tsumu..”
“ i’m way better then him.” “ are you telling me that or yourself?” you say with a small smile. He looks down for a minute then looks back up into your eyes. “ just making sure you don’t leave me for him “ he says.
your eyes going wide you mumble out a “ what”, but he doesn’t hear. all he’s doing his leaning in, his forehead touched yours and you feel him slight turn to the right, feel your breathe on your lips, it brings you back to the situation at hand. you’re about to kiss him, you’re about to kiss atsumu miya.
Atsumu closes his eyes trying to get a snag at you but you slightly push him away. opening his eyes he looks at you with no emotion. “ what’s wrong?” he asks.
“ atsumu..i can’t “ pushing him away farther, he’d asks “ why”. figuring you’ve come this far you might as well come clean. taking hand off you and your waist you hold them in your hands and take a breath in.
“ I like you, i know this would only be a hook up for you and nothing else, it would hurt me a lot knowing you only wanted me for sex and i can’t use you like that for my feelings. it’s wrong both ways “
“ y/n-“ “ atsumu i’m sorry-“ pulling you by you wrist back towards him and placing his hands on you face. you instinctively grab his wrist. “ i’m not trying to h-“
“ woah sorry dude “ you and atsumu turn to look at the voice. his dormmate had came back home. “ i should go “ you say as you slip out of his hands and bathroom.
“ did i interrupt something “ “ shut up man “atsumu says as he runs after you. back in his room your gathering your stuff back into your backpack. as you grab you keys and waterbottle that he filled up you turn to the door you see him peek through.
“atsumu i really need to-“ “ no you can’t leave, please listen. i never was trying to hook up with you tonight i made sure the guys were gone so we could spend some alone time together. in fact i haven’t done anything with anyone because i like you to, and i didn’t want to ruin it by not keeping it in my pants “
you look at him wide eyed. “ you…like me?” “ yes “..” let me take you out yeah? we can go to the to that garden you wanted to go to then go to the boba shop that you only get taro at because that’s the only place that you like taro from” he says as he walks closer to you.
“ i’d really like that” you say with a smile.
“ sooo usually in these story’s you give the guy a kiss, you know, for being so romantic “ he says while placing a hand on his hips.
“ your tired to kiss me you your bathroom after insinuating i pooped in there”
“ so no kiss?”
walking up to him you give him a kiss on the cheek. “ Only my boyfriend can kiss me “
“ uhhhgg your killing me y/n “
“ maybe i’ll kiss osamu…”
“ HEY WHAT?!”
╚══《✧》══╝
not really inlove with this but oh well i wanted to post it. feel like i talked about sex to much.

— PICK IT UP! | miya atsumu
genre . . . fluff!! [event drabble]
synopsis . . . in which a seemingly harmless game of uno ends wihh a butthurt atsumu
note . . . for @avid-idiot
"pick up two" you place a +2 into the pile of cards in the centre of the table hoping atsumu wouldn't stack it. "nah you pick up four". he placed another +2 thinking he would give you four cards. "i don't think so, pick up six". his eyes widened in disgust as he watched you place another +2 giving him a total of six cards to pick up. "you. are. evil." he mumbles spacing out his words with every card he picks up. as the night went one, the two of you were both down to one card. having both said uno and not knowing what the other had tension began to rise. luckily atsumu didn't have the that was need so it was your turn to put down a card. "y/n you're not gonna to win against me 'kay, just pick up a card and—" you cut his monologue short by ending the game on a wild card and to make matters worse - it was a +4. atsumu packs up the game with speed and walks away pouting like an angry child.
"you're sleeping on the couch tonight".
