rich.  young.  successful.  if  jane  seemed  to  have  everything  she  wanted  (plus  more)  then  why  did  it  seem  like  she  was  always  begging  for  attention?  wanting  to  be  front  in  center  of  everything  she  was  apart  of,  purposefully  doing  the  most  -  good  or  bad  -  just  to  make  sure  that  her  name  was  in  the  papers.  literally  whatever  jane  could  do  to  keep  people  not  only  talking,  but  talking  about  her  was  all  she  seemed  to  strive  for.

why,  you  may  ask?  daddy  issues.  they  had  no  mother  and  the  only  person  who  could  be  considered  a  parental  figure  was  her  dad.  anyone  who  is  either  close  with  the  family  or  pays  enough  to  attention  to  them  would  know  that  attention  was  never  given  within  jane's  home  growing  up.  her  father,  a  very  sought  out  for  lawyer,  seemed  to  keep  all  of  his  attention  on  his  clients  and  hardly  ever  made  time  for  her.  hell,  the  only  time  he  ever  acknowledged  her  was  when  he  had  something  to  critiqued,  to  scold  or  to  simply  tell  her  to  leave  him  be. 

her  brother  on  the  other  hand?  according  to  jane,  he  was  the  apple  of  her  father's  eye.  the  one  with  the  good  grades,  who  didn't  have  to  be  spoken  to  often,  who  kept  his  head  down  and  did  whatever  her  father  and  the  nannies  asked.  the  one  who  didn't  cause  trouble  and  moved  in  a  way  that  would  make  anyone  in  their  family  upset.  the  exact  opposite  of  jane.  admiration  seemed  to  only  grow  fonder  when  her  brother  seemed  to  show  the  slightest  bit  of  interest  in  the  kind  of  work  their  dad  did.  while  jane  was  handed  credit  cards  and  money  to  make  her  feel  better  about  whatever  she  was  complaining  about  that  day,  her  brother  was  able  to  sit  in  the  office  and  go  over  paperwork  with  their  dad.  seeking  the  kind  of  attention  that  jane  could  only  wish  to  have.

and  when  you  spend  your  whole  life  begging  for  attention  and  never  getting  it,  you  seem  to  crave  it  from  anywhere  that  you  can  get  it.  tabloids,  cover  spreads,  purposefully  sounding  tone  deaf  in  that  one  tiktok  video  to  make  sure  people  are  actually  talking  about  you.
