do you feel positive, negative, or neutral about inaccurate plastic skeleton halloween decorations? like what's going on with this guy's everything?
you may not know this, but I am something of a specialist on amphibian skeletal anatomy, and this… thing is a sin against my entire field.
Frogs do not have ribs. Where is its pectoral girdle? Why does it have mammal feet? What even happened to its hips? Why does it have SO MANY VERTEBRAE‽ And what in the seven hells happened to its skull? Hypertrophy is one thing, but this… this is just lazy. They seem to have decided to give it a beak??? And the nostril is super far back and also somehow integrated into a bone¿?¿?
What in the name of Eru Ilúvatar is going on‽

Small question, does it have to be Gotham for Cass? There's charas like Dick that can go establish their identity in a different city. Then there's Bruce, Steph, Jason and Duke who are so intrinsically tied to Gotham that this has to be the city for them. Where does Cass lie on this spectrum? Tq!
EXCELLENT question. I think Cass' situation is somewhat unique because of the way her character was handled post-Batgirl (2000).
In favour of Cass not staying in Gotham, she doesn't have the same emotional connection to Gotham as the four people you listed. She wasn't raised there, and in Batgirl (2000), she has next to no ties to Gotham civilians. In fact, it's when she moves to Bludhaven in Gabrych's run that she gains her first civilian friend and civilian love interest. The iconic volving panel is from Bludhaven, too. It's undeniable that the distance from Gotham, from Bruce (and arguably Babs), helps her grow:
Batgirl (2000) #71
It can't be overstated how important ownership is to Cass. To own something means, necessarily, that you not an object. You are a person who something belongs to, and who belongs to something. By calling Bludhaven the "first place that's ever been... mine," she's explicitly saying that Gotham was not hers. Bludhaven was the first place that made her feel fully human.
But there are caveats to this. Cass goes to Bludhaven in the wake of Stephanie's death, a Gothamite through and through. It's probable that Steph's death colours her view of Gotham here, and her willingness to embrace Bludhaven is in response to the pain that Gotham now brings her. (This is also after Babs calls Cass stupid). Feeling like Gotham doesn't belong to her might stem from these specific circumstances, and not be applicable in current canon.
Still, if the story had ended there, I'd say Cass doesn't need to stay in Gotham. Unfortunately, it doesn't.
Red Robin (2009) #17
After Bruce's death, Cass goes to Hong Kong. Well, 'goes' is putting it nicely. She was written off to make Steph Batgirl, which resulted in Cass a) not appearing in most comics, b) being stripped of the bat symbol, and c) being isolated from everyone she cares about, besides Tim. It's a horrific and undeserved fate, reversing everything Cass' story once stood for (narrative agency; becoming a hero; finding a family).
Though Cass regains the symbol and becomes the Bat of Hong Kong, she is no longer part of the narrative; her distance from Gotham became a representation of her distance from narrative importance. That's the real danger of Cass leaving Gotham - unlike Dick, who is a big enough character to be guaranteed solos in Blud, Cass leaving Gotham will forever hold the threat of erasure.
I'm discussing this in a meta-textual sense, but textually Cass knows the danger too.
Gates of Gotham #5
Here, Cass rebuffs Dick's assertion that Gotham will never keep either of them because they don't belong. She says, "It's about how you choose to see the world. Everything else is just an excuse." She's repudiating multiple things: editorial's decision to boot her from Gotham; Bruce's decision to take Batgirl away; even, somewhat, Dick's ascension to the Bat mantle when she wasn't given a chance.
This is ultimately why, though Cass could work elsewhere, I think she should work in Gotham. It's the place she ran to after David Cain, the place she chose to stay in, and the place that gave her Batgirl. Most importantly, it's the place that rejected her. It's not about Gotham itself - It's about how she was ejected from it, and how she fought her way back, over and over again. Cass staying in Gotham ensures history doesn't repeat itself. It rewards Cass fans who survived OYL, Batman Inc, and New 52 with the light at the end of the tunnel.
This is just my opinion! I do love her stint in Bludhaven, so I understand other people preferring her elsewhere. Just for me, she may not belong to Gotham in the way Bruce, Steph, Duke, Jay, or Babs does, but she deserves to be there.
#cassandra cain#ask#gotham#batman#batgirl#i hope this answered your question#cass has spent comparatively so little of her history in gotham for a gotham character because she was constantly mistreated#i think she deserves to make a home there#i also think the line 'family is not home' from red robin 17 is incredibly bittersweet#nicieza was trying his best but for a character like cass to just be separated from her family like that? to be so utterly alone?#to be so divorced from the agency and narrative focus that defined her run as batgirl?#it stings so bad#anyway if new batgirl solo introduces a new city i'm all for it since she's the main character and it's not erasure at all#but we haven't even scratched the surface of all her gotham stories yet so#let her be the bat of gotham!

i feel GENUINELY insane because nobody in canon or fanon has brought up ruidusborns in these conversations.
@caeslxys made a very good post about it, shout out to Peyton, but in general you're totally correct! imo, a lot of people are discursively motivated to disregard the plight of ruidisborn or justify the suspicion and ostracization they face, because to do otherwise is to admit that Liliana Temult is a sympathetic character.
(When she brought up the fear of the gods and their followers retaliating against ruidisborn, regardless of involvement, if Predathos was subdued, most of the responses i saw either called her delusional, said it would be her fault, or even a few "good"s.)
(Also Orym saying this, which I'm assuming was a line he had on the tank for a while regardless of what Liliana said-which, lmao-given that the other option is that he's saying ruidisborn being hunted down would only start to make up for Will and Derrig's deaths, and I don't think that's what Liam meant to imply.)
But no, it's the same viewpoint applied to undead like Laudna and every mortal whose had negative experiences with the gods-they're making a big deal out of nothing, and if it really is happening its their fault. The oldest rhetoric in the book for dismissing the concerns of the marginalized. The fact that Ruidisborn are a more X-Men style of oppression doesn't change the way these systems work on them, and in fact just further heightens the cycle of suspcion and isolation leading to anti-social behavior, leading to punitive measures and further suspcion and isolation. See: people saying that if ruidisborn are all hunted down, its the fault of Liliana and other ruidisborn who joined the Ruby Vanguard to get the first chance they've ever had at understanding and belonging.
In the last week or two there's been a growing appeal to the idea of a silent majority in Exandria who have a great relationship with the gods, actually, and who don't deserve to have their loves disrupted for the sake of those who don't. The truth of this claim doesn't particularly matter, because it serves the same purpose as people saying that it made sense for people to chase Laudna out of towns because undead are scary, or isolate Imogen because having to talk to someone who can read minds is uncomfortable; it's a grotesquely utitilarian way of saying that the people on the outskirts are acceptable sacrifices. It's "fuck you, I got mine" disguised as "looking out for the little guy." It's "those that matter, and those that don't" with a friendlier, broader vision of who matters.
#so uh. i hope this was a rewarding answer to your ask in some way#i made the connection between the recent gods thing and previous ruidisborn and undead conversations and had to talk abt it#crposting#asks#anonymous#equality often results in the priveleged being less priveleged lol. which feels bad on an individual level but is not reason to fight it#and often rising tides lift all boats and these all three are specifically issues where it Could Be Anyone#you are far closer to being mistreated by a god than being a god etc etc

silly question. do you have any favorite famous horses?
never silly. don't you even fret. particularly fan of brooklynn fucking supreme (not actually his name. his name was brooklynn supreme)
belgian draft horse that could have been the heaviest horse ever seen at 1,451.5 kg or 3,200lbs (but not the tallest). i say "could" because the horse that is believed to have been the tallest ever, Sampson renamed Mammoth, has alledgedly been recorded at 1,524 kg (3,360 lbs). however i prefer brooklynn supreme because his name is silly and i love the massivity on this beast which looks like pure raw chonk, whereas shires, which sampson was, tend to be finer in features.
i also love Prometea... the first ever cloned horse... here with her mom
she was born in 2003 so she should be turning 21 this year. i love her in the same way i love Dolly the first cloned mammal but even more because she's a horse. & she made it into adulthood & even middle age (20+ is that for a horse). also her name makes me smile. like prometheus who defied the gods to give humanity our fire and was bound to eternal punishment... but she never was punished and has thrived and even had a baby of her own (a normal one not a clone).
OH AND VALEGRO
it is on his back that Charlotte Dujardin broke the world's Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special, and Free Style Dressage records in the span of 3 years. & still holding strong. he was able to retire before he got completely exhausted, which is what the other record-holding horse before him (Totilas) went through over years of intense competition.
#ring ring (answers)#anonymous#horseposting#totilas' story makes me sad mannn he should have been able to retire earlier. go out with a bang and an applause instead of slowly getting#worse until he became too injured to compete. & i think there were mistreatment scandals over him too. poor boy

What’s worse is that the same people who dump all over Billy Hargrove are the same people who are drooling all over Gator (Joe Keery’s character in Fargo.) And it literally drives me insane.
Like you’ll condemn a literal teenager who never got a chance to grow but the adult character with similar qualities who has an incredible amount of privilege that he gets from who his father gets a pass?
People who mention anything about Billy that isn’t negative or explore a possible Billy redemption that doesn’t end with him dying get so much hate but a post about Gator makes it rounds like wildfire.
Sorry for ranting. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about for awhile and your post got me all fired up about it again.
OMG THIS^^
like i’m not saying people can’t be attracted to more.. morally questionable characters (for a lack of better terms) because that’d be hypocritical of me but why do people give adults who know what they’re doing a pass for shitty behaviour but draw the line at an, at most, abused 18 year old?
i saw the same type of treatment with vecna/001/henry creel when s4 came out. like i kinda get (jamie campbell bower is 😍) but if you compare everything he did to everything Billy did and still think Billy is irredeemable but vecna isn’t… idk dude maybe you don’t care for victims of abuse
#you don’t have to like him just because he’s a mistreated character (by the show/narrative AND fandom) but you shouldn’t hate him for being#a literal product of abuse imo#stranger things#billy hargrove#billy hargrove deserved better#Star answers :3#first submisson let’s go

in the collective reality where oda actively bothers to do something with alvida and/or galdino in this new post cross guild going for the one piece reality, how plausible do u consider either of them actively caring for buggy or going behind his back to help him in some way? i find the fact oda kept alvida with the narrative extremely fascinating and it frustrates me how she is so underutilised (then again with such a huge cast it is hard to get every character to do a lot, but alvida could have been discarded quite easily post loguetown. yet here she is, a 1000 chapters later, sitting on the cross guild couch drinking wine)
i do wonder sometimes what oda is thinking when he keeps characters like cabaji, mohji, and alvida around a thousand chapters since they last really did anything. does he like drawing them? does he want to throw a bone to the handful of east blue stans out there who miss when op pirate crews had a simple gimmick they stuck to? is he trying to show that buggy lifts his crew up with him, or refuses to leave anyone behind? i just don't know.
modern day alvida has a lot in common with galdino. she's calculating, analytical, and sides with the person who will give her the greatest advantage. that's been buggy for a long time because he's had the appearance of power for a long time. even now, the appearance of power is still there. does she actually care for buggy? does galdino? i'm not sure.
but for the purposes of answering this question, let's assume that she does, that they both do. i think their pragmatism still outweighs any fond feeling, unless:
it's to their significant advantage to help buggy, and/or
they won't get caught
safety above all else, you know? and getting on either mihawk or crocodile's bad side is not particularly safe behavior.

gncrezan get behind me the girlies CANNOT be normal about this poll 🤺🤺
LMFAOOOO i don't think i made clear enough that this poll is genuinely low stakes, i enjoy talking about it !!! and i like to see what others also think of the situation!! it's obviously a very complicated one which is why people are defending their takes in the tags (thanks everyone the 200 word tag thinkpiece is literally exactly what i wanted from this you've fallen into my trap)
if anything the poll has shown that sevenmancers are stronger than me. schrodinger's cat of a RO like you don't know if you've bagged them or not until you check the metaphorical bag
#does sev hate you? check the bag. oh does sev like you? check the bag! etc etc#also i dont dislike seven!!! i am a sevenologist !!!! i wrote a stupid ass textpost I CARE ABOUT THE SLOW BURN RECONCILIATION ETC !!!!#my mc just happens to be unwell and very undiagnosed and maybe if he'd taken his ass to therapy#instead of writing songs about it then i could conceivably see a happy end for aki and sev. but as they are now...#well. yeah.#ME ENJOYING THE TRAGEDY ASPECT IS JUST A SITUATIONAL THING. I SWEAR TO GOD!!!!!#and sometimes a new normal even if its not perfect is a better end to the story than 'and then it was all okay!'#i am trying to play infamous dead serious like a dnd rules stickler i kind of want this playthough's ending to like#stay true to how my mc is. and that would mean an ending where there's closure but no closeness#but yeas. thank you anon for defending me#i don't think that people are necessarily mad or anything!! just cautious because of how the mc was like#seriously being mistreated at the start by the 'fans' where people would send anons like 'theyre less talented and boring' etc etc#untrue. skill issue. i want my infamous mc so bad i dream of him#here comes the most specialest mc in the world if everyone doesnt cheer and clap for them im blowing this place up#answered#anonymous

So many arcane fanfics have Jinx being like, this creepy abuser because she's mentally ill and it makes me mad cause in actuality she'd be the one more likely to be abused because of her mental illnesses
I have become pretty selective with the fics I read because of these types of issues that I haven’t really seen many fics like this. Mostly only reading Jinx centric fics where this wouldn’t be an issue as she’s the character we are meant to be sympathizing with.
But in general I am kinda surprised how little there is of Jinx being abused fics. But I suppose Jinx goes through enough that you don’t really need to add abuse to it.
Though I always have wanted to read an abused Piltover Powder fic to counter balance more of the Powder adopted in Piltover so things are fixed fics. I think it could be an interesting AU where we see how Piltover treats those who don’t conform. And how Powder would struggle in those kinds of environments where she is stifled and struggles with her need to please and her chaotic nature.
It’s Jinx’s codependent nature that also sets her up as a character who can easily end up in an abusive relationship and stay. We see with Vi and Silco what it looks like when they have her best interests at heart. And how unhealthy it is. So when someone would want to control her through it seems like it would make for prime fanfic material.
Sorry that I couldn’t really answer your question, but thanks for asking.
#Wiskey answers#anon#jinx arcane#arcane#I get why we don’t see more abused jinx#but it could be a really interesting take#particularly amongst Piltover powder AUs#I think Jinx could easily end up mistreated if she ends up in Piltover

What does one genuinely do if they have both fibromyalgia and me/cfs. its an actual comorbidity that exists, and Im curious whether one is supposed to undergo graded exercise therapy or do pacing if thats the case, wouldn't either just worsen one of the conditions?
hello! good question. it’s a sticky situation for sure. i may go on an extended ramble now.
i’m not a professional but from what i’ve seen, the way overexertion impacts ME seems to be riskier than the way inactivity impacts fibro. yes, inactivity may make fibro worse, but the effects are usually proportionate and logical (and often reversible), meanwhile a few days of overexertion beyond a person with ME’s limits can sometimes cause an astronomical worsening for years afterward, which sounds nuts, but is a legit risk. there are reports of people with ME walking into exercise programs and leaving in a wheelchair and never recovering. personally i went from mild to severe after a school trip that involved a lot of walking. before the trip i was technically able bodied and after the trip I was bedbound. I have both fibro & ME and atp my docs say the risk of pushing is not worth it lol. public health guidelines are gradually changing to reflect the reality that it’s not safe for people with ME to increase activity beyond their individual limits, regardless of any comorbid diagnoses they might have.
luckily, pacing isn’t necessarily total rest—it’s doing the maximum activity possible without triggering post-exertional malaise, aka staying within your ‘energy envelope’. you can still preserve muscle while staying in your limits :) people with mild ME may even be able to exercise, especially stuff like very gentle swimming and yoga, as long as it doesn’t trigger PEM.
in my personal experience, when i do pacing, the resting seems to allow some degree of repair and i actually end up with slightly more ability/mobility. long term, i lose function when i push myself (even if i only push gradually in tiny increments) and i gain function when i rest. it’s almost paradoxical. the less i do, the more i become able to do. obvi I’m not recovered but pacing is the only approach that stopped me deteriorating and gave some improvement, which lets me be more active without breaching my limits, which is good for my fibro! yayyy
footnote 1: in case it wasn’t clear, graded exercise usually DOES help people whose sole diagnosis is fibromyalgia. it only seems to be risky if you also have ME. i know people with fibro or POTS/EDS who found improvement from graded exercise :)
footnote 2: almost every doctor i’ve met has a different opinion on how to treat ME & fibro. medical professionals are individuals with varying views depending on where and how long ago they were educated, their personal biases, how up to date on research they are, etc, and your doctor may not agree with my doctors!
