[ text: man ] tell me you're not working all night again tonight
[ txt; Ramsey ]: I don’t do it because I enjoy spending all night doing it, I do it because it has a habit of piling up on me otherwise and nobody enjoys that.[ txt; Ramsey ]: It’s been a lot lighter lately though. I can risk a night off if you’re not working either.

Too Old for Platonic Dates
It wasn’t very often Joel was the one to indulge in social calls. Something about hangouts had never really interested the lawyer too much, so he never actively sought out any interactions that weren’t purely business.
Unless there was alcohol involved. Always a good way of relaxing him enough to actually talk with others like he was a real human being, instead of the amazing machine persona he kept up to remain at the top of his line of business.
But when he’d received the text from Geoff, he hadn’t even hesitated before agreeing. Maybe it was the fact that he’d finished his workload for the evening early; maybe it was the fact that he’d already been through a couple of shots of whiskey in the past hour. It probably mostly boiled down to Geoff being a good buddy of his; probably the only person he was always comfortable with. Alcohol or not, he would’ve agreed to an evening in.
Hell--- he didn’t even like watching movies.
By the time the lawyer had sent off the final text, he’d already left his office (after picking up another unopened bottle of whiskey) and was heading for his car. Ditched his jacket on the passenger seat--the evening was surprisingly warm--and he was off. Luckily, a couple of shots never affected his driving ability; so he could easily navigate the hills and turns between his place and Geoff’s.
It only took about fifteen minutes to make it to Geoff’s. He parked out front since he didn’t have the slightest idea when he’d leave (depended on the alcohol intake really), so it felt like the best bet option. Keep out of the way and everything.
Before heading for the door, he slackened his tie a bit (business casual, right?) and grabbed the bottle he’d brought. The whole area was pretty dark aside from the tall lights in the street, but he managed to navigate the way to the door. No real point in buzzing since Geoff had been the one to invite him, but after making his way to his actual apartment he still gave the door a couple of knocks to let him know he’d arrived. Far more polite than his usual enter-without-making-himself-known.

Fuckin' drinking orange juice from a straw is some sort of sin now. News to me, I guess. I don't know where he comes up with this shit, really.
What else does he expect you to use, a funnel? It’s a straw, I don’t get the big deal either.

The Plan
Michael had texted Geoff the details to where he'd be. The bar was off the main strip of Vinewood, just a little back hole one. A little dusty around the back, but private in the way he needed it to be. No punk bitches to deal with. He'd ordered an entire fucking bottle of Whiskey and that was sitting on the table in front of the New Jersey born Wild Card. Michael had his sunglasses pushed up into his hair as was looking over an interactive map of the city on his cell phone.
He hoped, at least, that now with the entire crew back together and things behind them that they could actually do a real heist. He had no idea if Gavin would be in trouble yet or not, but if it was a good enough plan, would Geoff leave Gavin out of the team? Doubtful.
The shit with Dan was something none of them could have expected after all. Nah.
He should have invited Jack along too, but for now, Michael just wanted some him and Geoff time. They could have a laugh and still put the idea out that he had. They had a cop car now, they had a helicopter. Maybe they could even swipe a cargobob from the airport for the express purpose of getting this job done. Maybe.
Either way. They needed the full team. Michael lifted his eyes to the door as it opened. Smile sliding onto his face for a moment.
This just needed to be like old times, and for the first time.. this was Michael's idea. Really. Not like stealing cars or planes, an actual heist, and the Wild Card was excited to see what Geoff would think of the plan.

I was hoping you'd feel that way. [break] Griffon and I can send some your way, but I'm not opposed to you catching some yourself either. [break] Honestly, information isn't too vital. I just want these other crews to know we aren't to be messed with. [break] Leave at least one to two alive, and I fucking love that idea of you putting our emblem in play. Get creative, I know it's what you do best. [break] This is your project, buddy. I trust you.
Of course I do, Geoff.
[break]
Send a few down. If I find I need a few more, I'll be sure to pull something together.
[break]
If fear is what you're going for, intimidation, I can take care of that. I'll aim more for gruesome and foreboding than tactical.
[break]
I'll make sure I send a body back with our emblem, then, I'm glad you approve. Creative is what I do best, you know that. Perhaps I'll pull out some books for a few ideas. It's good to hear that you trust me with this, though; it is one of my more mastered areas of practice, after all.

I'm ready to throw Gavin in front of a train because he's judging my straw usage. [break] Help me.
I’m on it, Geoff. I’ll talk to him, but I make no promises. You know what he’s like.

...What is it about your straw usage is he judging?

Too Old for This Trip
After sending off a final confirmation text, Joel sighed to himself and slipped his phone away. Not a bad kind of sigh; tired, or frustrated as most of his were. It was... Pleasant. Perhaps relieved. Although he distanced himself from the crew and acted with annoyance when they interrupted his natural flow of things, he wasn't lying when he said Geoff was his best buddy. Nor was he lying when he said he needed this night out.
The crew was top-priority to the lawyer when it came to legal work, but he wasn't contract-specific to only them. He was an independent worker, and as such accepted clients from outside of the crew; especially during cooled periods with the crew where not enough action occurred for him to see it as sufficient work. He needed to be working constantly, or he didn't feel like he was doing enough. Ever since he had shifted from his esteemed office of Liberty City to follow after the crew to Los Santos, he'd had to rebuild his reputation. Going from several clients from all sectors to just six wasn't as simple as it had been when he'd first started working seeing as he had been a lot more open at the beginning, but with the incredibly strenuous weeks he had when the crew hit real spikes in the road, he was careful to limit the clients he accepted.
Bored. Maybe even lonely. Figures, huh?
Finishing off a final few points to appease a client in a courtroom case, Joel neatened up his scrawlings and slipped them away into their folder before standing up with a long stretch. He'd been sat at his desk for hours; only breaking from work to check the markets around midday before returning to work. He always felt so strange about pausing his work, but he'd already made the plans. He'd be back tomorrow afternoon at the latest, so he couldn't feel too off about dropping everything.
...Might slip a couple of files into his briefcase. Just in case he has a break while they were out, right?
He didn't bother to pack anything, since they wouldn't be gone long enough for him to really need things other than his case (which he brought everywhere anyway -- fucking cliche lawyer). So he just shrugged his jacket on and collected the case before heading off out the front door to his always-faithful Zion, into which he ditched his case in the backseat and slipped into the driver's.
It didn't take him long to make it to Geoff's place. Traffic was surprisingly light (always made for a good day when the people on the roads weren't all acting out their asshole-isms), and it left Joel with an oddly pleasant air to him as he approached his buddy's door to give the panel a couple of quick raps before his hands returned to his pockets as he took a step backwards.
This was going to be an interesting night to say the least.

You're my best friend shut up. Happy birthday, old man.
Best friend? You make my heart happy, boss.

Yeah, thank you. We need to go out drinking some time to spite all the young people draining our youth away.
