       Damian Desmond had always prided himself on his keen powers of observation. As the son of a powerful figure and a top student at Eden Academy, he had learned to notice the smallest details, the nuances in behavior that others might overlook. Today, however, something was off. It was a subtle shift, but it had been enough to catch Damian's attention.

       Anya Forger, usually so vibrant and filled with an infectious energy, seemed… different. There was a quietness about her that didn't sit right with him. He couldn't pinpoint what exactly it was, but she wasn't smiling like she normally did. The absence of her usual grin, which he secretly found infuriatingly charming, was enough to unsettle him.

       As the bell signaled the end of another class, Damian found himself unconsciously following the path Forger usually took to her next class. He weaved through the throngs of students, his eyes scanning for that familiar tuft of pink hair. Finally, he spotted her in the school's garden, sitting on a bench, her gaze fixed on the ground.

       He pushed down the strange fluttering in his chest and walked over to her, clearing his throat to announce his presence. "Forger," he called. "What are you doing here by yourself?"
