Dreams Do Come True

This journey to Miss America has been nothing short of spectacular. I have thoroughly enjoyed growing as a communicator, performer, community advocate, and most importantly as Jaryn Franklin. I have had the privilege of meeting and learning from numerous experts. Whether it be hair, makeup, singing, stage presence/walking, or interview, I have been provided with an abundance of insight and beneficial information from an array of knowledgeable people. The girl that won her state title just 3 short months ago is drastically different than the girl who is writing this post. Did they change who I was as a person? Absolutely not. Rather, they have accentuated my assets and abilities. My mantra is to always stay true to who you are and to embrace what makes you uniquely you. I feel like a polished Jaryn, definitely not like a whole new person. I have grown into the person I truly am. I have already been exposed to numerous organizations, individuals, and events that have changed my life. This experience has enabled me to expand my network and connect with people who will only continue to help me along this beautiful journey. The continuous preparation may seem tiresome, stressful, and certainly emotional, but I would not change any of those roller coaster days for the world. It has been absolutely worth the tears, sweat, and hard work. I have been so driven to make me the best me possible. After 7 mock interviews, 3 round table discussions, countless hours of listening to the news and researching hot topics, hours after hours of perfecting my voice and choreography for my talent, many trips to sponsors for hair, tans, and dresses, fittings after fittings, memorable appearances, hair tutorials, debriefings with family and friends, and early morning workouts, I am READY for Miss America. I am confident, well prepared both mentally and physically, loved, and supported by many. I remind myself daily to just be me and to enjoy the experience. Keep my head in the game, stay positive, and have fun. I am more than confident that I will walk off that stage knowing I could not have possibly done anything better. This is a dream come true. My dream has become a reality. With the mindset that you are fully capable of your wildest desires, you CAN and you WILL succeed. I did, I believed, and now I am! I’m headed to Miss America, everyone!! THANK YOU to my Illinois fan club who shower me with encouragement and LOVE every single day. ❤️ YOU ALL ARE MY WORLD.
