39, I just wanna read beau and barzy being dads
39) “they are so your child/children.”
-
Tito hates to be away from home for too long. He knows that Mat can handle the kids by himself when he has to, and he doesn’t mind it just because it isn’t often that he has to, but Tito doesn’t like having to be away from them, doesn’t like to miss out on the little moments. So, although coming home feels a little bit like he’s stepping into the brunt of the storm, the familiar chaos that sweeps the Barzal-Beauvillier household, it always feels like he can leave the NHLPA responsibilities at the door, just be a normal dad for the time being, and spend time with his husband and kids.
He gets home from the airport unreasonably late, the roads practically empty as he maybe speeds home, aching for his family and his own bed. He drops his bags inside the front door, doing his best to be as quiet as possible. The lights upstairs and in the foyer are off, but there’s warm yellow light filtering out of the kitchen doorway from what he can see, bleeding out into the living room. Tinny voices drone on from the other room, too muffled to make out, from what Tito would guess is whatever soap opera Mat had fallen asleep watching. He smiles, letting the door shut behind him. Suddenly, little thumping footsteps are running across the living room carpet.
Rounding the corner is a hip-level rocket hurdling towards Tito with stubby, open arms. Ana crashes into his legs, clinging to his knees like a little octopus. Tito laughs, fake roars, and scoops her up into his arms. She squeals, holding onto his neck as he gently swings her around.
“Hello, little lady, aren’t you supposed to be in bed?” He asks through her attempts to squish his cheeks, a habit she picked up watching him and Mat play with Miles, settling her on his hip. She shrugs sheepishly, giving him a wide smile that eerily resembles the grin Mat gives him when he’s trying to get out of something. Tito’s heart squeezes.
“She promised she’d take a nap today so that she could stay up until you got home.” Mat says from the doorway, holding a drowsy Miles. He’d always been such a calm baby, Tito can’t tell if he’s asleep or not. Judging by Mat’s soft voice, he’s either on his way or already out. Tito carries Ana with him, leaning in to press a quick kiss to Miles’ head, then to the corner of Mat’s lips. He turns his head, and Tito gives him another, more square on the mouth this time. Ana frowns, giving her own kiss to Tito’s cheek, so he returns on to her nose. “She is so your child, so stubborn. She refused to take no for an answer.” Mat recounts fondly, twirling one of her pigtails.
“She’s wearing an old Nets shirt, she’s just as much as your daughter as she is mine.” Tito points out, gesturing to the shirt serving as a nightgown until she grows into it. She adores the Nets with all of her heart, definitely not as into hockey as she is into basketball. Ana looks like Mat, too, more than she looks like Tito. Which is because they’d used his DNA for the surrogate, but it backs his point. Her thick black curls and doe-y brown eyes are so similar to Mat’s, sometimes it takes Tito by surprise. But, yeah, he knows she acts just like him.
Ana lets out a big yawn, resting her head in the crook of Tito’s neck, and that’s his cue.
“Looks like someone’s ready for bed.” Mat teases gently, shifting Miles in his arms. Sweet, quiet Miles, still so tiny. Already, they can tell that he’s going to be Tito’s mini-me. “I’ll get this one to bed if you take care of Ana?” Mat offers, and Tito nods, turning and heading for the stairs.
She doesn’t even request a story, she’s so beat, but she does cling to his neck a little longer than usual.
“I’m glad you’re home, Papa. I missed you.” She mumbles in slurred French into his shoulder, refusing to let him go. Tito stays bent over, hugging her for as long as she needs. She never speaks back to them in French unless she feels like it’s something only they can hear, her more vulnerable “secrets”.
“Me too, sweetheart. Sleep tight, I love you.” He whispers back, giving her one last kiss on her forehead and pulling away. She lets him go willingly, rolling over and clutching her stuffed elephant to her chest. Tito’s heart feels like it’s going to burst, watching her drift into a peaceful sleep. When he turns around, he catches Mat watching him in the doorway, smiling lazily at him. He closes the door behind them, and Tito melts into his arms. “I hate this fucking league.” He laments, and Mat chuckles, running a hand up and down his back.
“I know, babe, I know. No more thinking about that, you’ve had a long flight. How about I make you some tea and then we go to bed? Tomorrow, you can tell me about the meeting.” Mat instructs, tilting Tito’s head up to kiss him briefly. Tito relaxes into it. When they pull away, he smiles hazily up at him.
“This,” He grins, kissing his chin, “is why I married you.” He tells him, and Mat chuckles, carding a hand through Tito’s hair and leading him down the stairs to get started on that tea he had mentioned.

51, mat/tito please! Maybe like Ana getting her first period and them having to comfort her and explain stuff to her while also freaking out about it quietly to themselves???
51) “there is so much blood.”
-
There are some things that Mat and Tito weren’t necessarily prepared for when it comes to parenting a daughter, and this has to be one of them. Tito had woken up first, so by the time Mat is blinking his eyes open he’s stumbling out of bed and running into the hallway. A scream had rattled the house, early on a Tuesday morning, way before any of their alarms go off. Mat swings his legs over the side of the bed, brain in panic mode as he follows his husband out of the room.
Ana is standing in the bathroom with the door closed, apparently locked, and Tito is knocking on the door. He appears much calmer than Mat feels, desperate to make sure his baby is okay. They can hear her muffled voice through the door, talking to herself as she rifles around the bathroom. Then, loud and clear, she shrieks: “There is so much blood!” Mat’s heart drops, and Tito’s face goes white.
“Ana, honey, open the door. What’s wrong? Did you hurt yourself?” Tito calls, trying the doorknob again. Mat rubs at his eyes, trying not to picture of the worst.
“Uh, well-” She calls back, and it sounds like something get knocked off of the bathroom counter. Some more rifling, and then the door opens, just a crack. She pokes her head out of the bathroom, looking thoroughly freaked out. “Can you call Aunt Liana? We’re having a bit of a problem.” Her cheeks are bright red and her hair is tied up in a lopsided bun.
“It’s like midnight over in BC, we can’t call her right now.” Mat explains, reaching out to steady himself against Tito’s back. She frowns, looking back over her shoulder and then glancing back at her dads. “What’s going on? You know you can tell us anything.” Ana groans, gently hitting her forehead against the door.
“I am menstruating.” She hisses, peeking over their shoulders to look down the hallway. If she’s worried about anyone else hearing, Miles is still fast asleep in his own room. Mat panics, thoughts going a mile a minute. He doesn’t know much about that shit to begin with, let alone how to handle it, not to mention the fact that they weren’t expecting this to happen for another year. He just kind of gapes.
“Oh, sweetheart,” Tito speaks up, nudging the door open a little more. Ana’s eyes widen, holding the door shut. “Mat, go call Liana. Then, go to the store and get what she tells you. I’ll stay here with Ana.” Tito instructs, then shakes Mat gently to get his feet unstuck from the floor. He starts moving mindlessly down the hallway, unable to form coherent thoughts as he reaches his phone on the bedside table. Thankfully, Liana answers after three rings.
“Mat, what’s up? It’s late here. Are you okay?” Liana drawls into the phone, her words still strung together like she’s just woken up. Mat drags a hand down his face, doing his best to phrase this the best. Instead, all of the words come out at once.
“Ana just got her period and I don’t know what to do.” He blurts, his voice sounding distressed, even to himself. Liana is silent for a moment, and then she laughs into the phone for a good twenty seconds. Mat sighs.
So, that’s how Mat ends up standing at the counter at CVS with various feminine products from the list that Liana had sent him and a bag of peanut butter M&M’s, smiling nervously at the cashier. Thankfully, the man looks like he completely understands, and is hasty with checking Mat out. He waves him off with a smile and a “good luck”. When Mat gets back to the house, just as the sun is peaking over the horizon, Tito and Ana are cuddled up on the couch, Ana tucked under his arm. She’s holding a mug with some whipped cream pillowed on the top as Tito whispers to her.
“Ana, honey, it’s completely normal. Most women have them.” He explains gently, adjusting his glasses and running his fingers through her hair. She frowns and shrugs her shoulders, taking a sip from her mug. “I know it doesn’t feel good though.”
“None of my friends have theirs yet, though!” She protests, dropping her head onto his shoulder. Tito nods gently, leaning his head gently on hers. Mat rounds the corner and holds up the plastic bag. Ana smiles weakly at him, reaching out for the bag. Mat produces the candy and hands it to her, dropping the bag on the coffee table. He settles down on her other side, holding her mug so she can open the M&M’s. He looks over at Tito, who looks exhausted, but content. Mat presses a kiss to his hand, and turns up the TV.
They’re gonna be okay.

I don’t have a prompt number preference, but would you be willing to write more about mat and Tito being fathers???
82) "what happened here?”
-
(i just picked a random prompt, but it’s still about the family! ana is 6 & miles is 3)
After Liana visits them over the summer, Ana cannot stop talking about the glitter Aunt Lia had on her cheeks and eyelids. She loves to paint and draw and create, so it would make sense that she’s so into the idea of makeup. At first, Tito is a little hesitant, obviously he’s still pretty new to the whole parenting thing and he doesn’t want to try to enforce any beauty norms on their 6 year old daughter, but she’s just so into it that he can hardly deny her what she wants.
So, he buys her some makeup from, like, Claire’s, cheap, basic things that she can play around with, glittery lipgloss and eye shadow and stuff, and she goes batshit. Sure, Tito may be biased, but Ana strutting into the living room with an Islanders blanket tied around her neck as a cape and bright blue eyelids is one of the cutest things to ever walk this planet.
Luckily, Mat and Tito switch off on days they have to work, so they both get to spend time with the kids equally, and on weekends they get to all be together. It’s a pretty good system. Today, Tito gets home around 3, only one afternoon meeting that he had to be in for, so he was able to have breakfast with the kids and spend the morning with them before rushing off to catch the train. When he rounds the corner, still in his suit and tie, an interesting scene unfolds in front of him.
Mat is sitting at the kids’ play table, knees up to his elbows, balancing a laptop on the edge. He’s looking back and forth between the screen and Ana’s face, who he’s holding delicately in one hand and powdering blush onto with the other. Tito’s heart feels like it’s going to leap out of his chest at the sight, it’s just so goddamn adorable. Ana already has dark, glittery shadow caked onto her eyelids and an impressively steady wing streaked over her lash line. Mat isn’t too bad at this. Tito snaps a picture and posts it to Instagram, with the caption daddy daughter bonding time… thinking @lianabarzal may have had something to do with this.
He’s pulled out of his thoughts by a tugging at his jacket, and at his feet is a happy Miles, also with glittery eyelids, grinning up at him. Tito’s heart melts, bending down to scoop his son into his arms. Miles giggles, which gets Mat’s attention. He stills the makeup brush he’s holding to look back at Tito.
“What happened here?” Tito asks fondly, watching Ana flutter her eyes open. Mat sits back, stretching his shoulders and tilting his head up for a kiss. Tito willingly obliges, straightening up as Miles begins to wiggle in his arms.
“How do I look Papa?” Ana questions, striking a few poses to show off her new look.
“You look beautiful, honey.” He tells her honestly, unable to stifle the grin on his face. Miles makes a noise, tugging gently at Tito’s hair. “You look beautiful, too, Miles.” Tito blows a raspberry into his cheek. Miles squeals, pressing his cheek into his shoulder, dissolving into giggles and reaching for the ground until Tito lets him down again. Mat finishes painting lipgloss onto Ana’s lips before standing up from the table, his knees popping. He pulls Tito in by the tie, brushing their noses together. Ana makes a noise and runs into the kitchen.
“She did Miles’ makeup and wanted me to do hers.” Mat explains sheepishly, stepping away to clean up the supplies and put them all back into the Hello Kitty purse Ana keeps her makeup in.
“You aren’t too shabby as a makeup artist, maybe you have a post retirement career to consider.” Tito teases, helping to throw away the makeup wipes and sweep the excess powder from the table. Mat chuckles. “You’re too good with them, especially Ana. You’re such a good dad.” Mat’s cheeks go a little pink and his eyes soften. He just shrugs, reaching for Tito’s hands. Their lips barely brush before a high pitched voice yells from the other room.
“Daddy! Papa! Miles is chewing on the remote again!” Ana shrieks, and Tito sighs, laughing against Mat’s mouth.
“Duty calls.” Mat tells him, pushing Tito towards the doorway with a smack to the ass, and Tito goes willingly.
