whats your meal deal shop ranking?

1) for me personally... honestly sainsburys takes top spot.. the most likely to have hot pastries on offer... coffee as well if you so desire... decent pasta and the love of my life: smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich

2) rogue choice but honestly co op. good hot pastry selection. delightful sweet snack options. good sized drinks. decent sandwiches.

3) tesco has fallen off but i dont think theyre completely awful

4) to be honest ive never actually bought an m&s meal deal but i will regularly go in to gaze at the selection so it deserves a spot... luxurious feel but i remember getting the worst sandwich of my life there as a child...

5) similar situation with boots with an added psychological element. it does not make sense to me that the sandwiches are made of bread and not sponge or polystyrene... the sushi is rice not plastic... though i am enticed by the prospect of gü cheesecake

6) morrisons id give it a go if i was desperate

7) asda dont even bother

8) superdrug are you asking for food poisoning?

Once on a regional train line in rural Japan I ended up sitting across from an elderly couple (man and woman) who kept glancing apprehensively at me. At one point the husband pointed and went “gaijin, gaijin da yo,” at which point his wife jabbed him with her elbow and said (in Japanese) “the polite term is ‘gaikokujin!’”

mahogany: what is your favourite musical instrument, in terms of sound?

I think it depends on the composer or the person playing. Chopin or Gershwin make piano sound best, Robert Johnson or your typical dinosaur rocker make guitar sound best, Mahler makes French horn sound best. In general I have a fondness for instruments with clear, resonant voices--piano, most woodwinds, some types of synthesizers.

eridanus - your favourite myth or legend?

hmmm okay that’s difficult because I honestly just love so many but I’ll say any of the greek mythical stories surrounding the constellations - they endlessly fascinate me

ara - what’s your fondest childhood memory?

okay also a difficult one, i don’t . know if it counts as childhood because it wasn’t actually that long ago, I think I was maybe 13 at the time? But I was in crete, and we were driving at night on a completely empty road, and we just pulled over to a little dirt track on the side of the road and got out of the car. I looked up and the sky was so clear that you could see every single star - I was literally able to see the bands of the milky way where the stars were more densely packed and where they were further apart - it was just insane - my mum basically had to force me to get back into the car because I could have sat there and looked up forever. 

vela - describe your musical taste?

oh god okay - music taste is v eclectic so this is once again difficult but i’m just going to list some of my favourite artists and sub genres 

arctic monkeys (surprise surprise) 

modern british indie rock (does it count as modern britpop? maybe) so bands like catfish and the bottlemen, the night cafe, the kooks (although they’re less modern)
