Sometimes I think about how the events of ffxiv happened just because the most married man in ancient Etheirys lost both of his spouses in the span of a single Final Days

Kassandra’s main specialty was in structures and objects rather than creatures - before she was Azem she was involved in the research and design process for the construction of artificial environments like Ktisis Hyperboreia. Aside from her friend-summoning spell, which is her most famous creation (and one of the reasons she was chosen for the Convocation), she was mostly known for her series of concepts made to aid travellers. She designed the ancient method to detect aether currents, for example, which is now the purpose of the aether compass. Kassandra couldn’t see aether herself too well, so she designed a means of detecting them so she could fly. There was also her extremely compact way of carrying recipes on the road, and the earliest linkpearl - a long-distance communication alternative to sending familiars that would work when one has no idea of the location for a message’s recipient.

Her familiar, Helios (a golden version of the Lynx mounts) was also a recognisable sight, and became the inspiration for the Ancient who would design the Coeurl. He was designed alongside Hades’ Grani when they were both still in school back in their hometown, and became her mount and companion from then until the end of her life.

For the most part, he is the only organic concept she is known for, but she did have a period where she tried to create as many awful, dangerous creatures as possible - to try and gauge how far she could go before Hythlodaeus would reject one of her concepts. One such concept was a collaboration with her dear friend and sister-in-law Penelope, who was something of a poison expert (and the person responsible for the Morbol). Together they designed Proto-Carbuncle, and the thing managed to almost gut Azem before the Warders of Pandaemonium managed to restrain it. The Ancients did not directly design Carbuncle’s modern form - that came post-Sundering - but to a fair few people Proto-Carbuncle was famous for being the concept that made Chief Hythlodaeus completely lose his composure with the people who made it. Emet-Selch was less angry about than him (and Emet was, of course, fuming).

(Tangentially related, but the arcanist who designed the modern Carbuncle is a shard of Penelope’s, which would then be adapted by the Allagan shard of Kassandra to become the art of Summoning egis - which is Misede’s main specialty as well.)

Bravely art collab 2020?

I got an email about this blog a few days ago (it’s four years old guys) and remembered this used to be a thing~ It’s been a while since the last one, but I polled a few people on othher platforms and there seems to be some interest. We’ve got a new game due out, so if people are down to participate in a new collab then I’d be happy to set one up again~

The last time I did this was 2017, so a quick reminder if you’re interested:

We’d all choose a theme (e.g. cosplay, beachwear, or no theme if that’s preferable), and everybody participating would claim a character. Then you’d draw the character to fit the theme, and the drawings would be put together into one group picture. The previous ones are on this blog if you want an example~

If you’d be interested in bringing this back, let me know here or on twitter/discord, and if enough people want to take part, we’ll start discussing a theme~~
