Solangelo Headcanons
Will wakes up at sunrise but doesn't actually get out of bed until at least ten (assuming there's no medical emergency)
Nico usually wakes up around nine, but he gets out of bed
Nico makes breakfast since Will can't cook to save his life
But Will makes great coffee
It really shouldn't taste any different but for some reason it's just better when Will makes it
Except when Will's been studying all night for exams or had to suddenly rush back to camp because a medical emergency, then Nico always greets him with a coffee
They always get into "arguments" over things like pancakes vs. waffles
Nico once tried to make a pancake-waffle hybrid but it didn't turn out well
It's on the list with Albania, in "Things that we don't ever mention"
After that they decide to alternate between pancakes and waffles
Will expects Nico to be horrible at video games but he beats him all the time
Nico's actually adjusted to modern technology quickly since Will's handwriting is horrible
After two attempts at handwritten notes and reminders they keep a laptop open to leave notes on since texting alerts monsters (Cabins 9 and 6 partnered to make some demigod friendly technology, but they could never get texting quite right)
Jason randomly stops by all the time with bags of food to make sure Nico's eating enough
They finally give him a key so he stops scaring everyone by flying up to the windows
Hades will randomly come by to play a game of cards or something once in a while
Then Apollo joins in and they just kind of accept that every third Tuesday is game night
It's hilarious watching Apollo try to figure out video games

quick image description of the excerpt from the original post:
[Image Description: A conversation from Mark of Athena between several characters. It reads:
"He's been going back and forth," Leo said, "and he didn't tell either side."
Jason sat forward, his expression grim. "You're wondering if we can trust the guy. So am I." END ID]
---------
So I was thinking about this 🤔 PJO is clearly about family!!! Found family and birth family, and it's such a strong message. What's so crazy about HoO is that most of the villains that Leo or Jason fights has a crazy relationship with their own family. Khione and Heracles come to mind, but there are others 🤔 but then... There's Gaea.
So Gaea in HoO didn't have the strongest motive, but she's LITERALLY called Mother Earth. One of her most famous myths is her protecting her titan children and fighting with them against their father. I feel like that aspect of Gaea's nature could've been entwined with Leo and Jason's arcs more!!! There are a few times where Gaea approached them (Leo specifically) to convince them to stop fighting, but why wouldn't she play into the mothering role that both boys lacked?
Regardless, Leo and Jason being the prophecy kids is intriguing with their fathers as well! Leo is his dad's favorite, while Jason is ignored. (Leo literally sees his father like 3 days after getting claimed, and Jason sees his dad at the end of BoO) This could've caused tension between the two, or even bonded them in some sort of way. Their moms are different as well: Leo's mom loved him while Jason's mom gave him up. They're opposites when it comes to most things, and family is another one of those things. It's the whole different sides of the same coin. Leo and Jason mirror Percy and Annabeth in this regard as to how their parents treat them, with Percy being Poseidon's favorite and loved by Sally, while Annabeth is used by Athena and her father couldn't take care of her as well.
So Leo and Jason being the next protagonists to lead the prophecy after following the family theme of PJO and the dynamics of Percy/Annabeth makes sense!!! It's darker as well because their moms are dead and they were both forcefully abandoned and never found a home, while Percy and Annabeth did. And what @miscellaneousheadcanons mentioned about Percy and loyalty is AMAZING to bring up!!! Percy is loyal to his friends and his loved ones!!!!
Jason's entire arc is about how he doesn't know where his loyalties lie!!!! Leo doesn't know where he belongs!!! Neither of them have any actual loyalties, except when they decided over the course of TLH that they (along with Piper) will be best friends. Their only real loyalty was to each other.
The problem is that there is just something about this concept that never actually clicked in HoO, despite it being right there. Like I said in the original post: this plays as an interesting contrast against the earlier series in which family and trust were most emphasized in PJO, here are the prophecy duo who lack both. The main antagonist they are fighting against is literally about family and trust. Down to their very first quest during TLH boiled down to family (Piper's dad, Medea, Thalia, Jason's memories, Hera, Tía Callida) and trust (Piper lying about her dad, none of them knowing anything about Jason, not knowing about being a demigod, Leo not talking about his fire). Jason and Leo needed to trust each other from PAGE ONE, and they even dished out their hated feelings about each other in TLH, ready to killed the other, and then fought like a team in the next page.
It was literally all there and set up as the best fucking continuation to PJO. It is INCREDIBLY unfortunate that NONE of this ever played out in the long run
Tumblr media
So it’s super interesting to me that it’s Jason and Leo who don’t initially trust Nico. At first, the most obvious reasoning was because they didn’t know Nico too well, and thus were suspicious of a trap 🤔 However, this is debunked because Frank and Piper didn’t know Nico too well either and were not as callous and cold about this situation
→ however, what next came to mind is that, Jason and Leo are the only ones in the seven who didn’t grow up with family. Annabeth and Percy had CHB and Sally, Frank had his grandma, and Piper had her dad. Hazel’s home life was super rough growing up, but this is Nico, her only brother so it’s a no brainer. Jason and Leo, however grew up without having family, being outcasted (Low for obvious reasons and Jason standing out because of his dad and strange younger-than-usual raising under Lupa)
It’s incredibly fucked though, regardless 😒 They’re both extremely loyal, but here they remain loyal to their quest and duty over another person. However, they’re not people who understands what family even means. Leo’s lived with hating himself over his mom and his other family hating him, while Jason’s never felt like he fully fit in with the Romans and was left wondering about his birth family. They don’t know what it means to have a Nico, or a Sally, or a Luke. 😒 Still gross, but it’s interesting that it’s them: the two guys of the prophecy, whose entire lives were based on following directions. They didn’t want to take the chance, even if it involved someone else’s life (disturbing). → This just plays an interesting contrast against the earlier series in which family and trust were most emphasized in PJO 🤔 here are the prophecy duo who lack both… wished this played out a bit more

PJO New Years Headcanons
The Heaphestus cabin puts on a huge fireworks show like on the Fourth of July
Percy usually spends it with his mom and they have lots of candy and popcorn to snack on
He usually doesn't go down to watch the ball drop (it's too cold and crowded)
Annabeth usually spends New Years at camp but recently she's been going over to Percy's or spending it with her family
Jason flew Piper up to a rooftop to watch the ball drop
Other years he spends New Years with Piper and her dad
Nico shadowtravels with Will to Camp Jupiter to spend New Years with Hazel
Other years Hazel comes to Camp Half-Blood
Camp Jupiter usually holds a feast that goes through midnight
Frank celebrates New Years with his friends but he also celebrates Chinese New Year
The first year without his mom and grandmother is difficult
Hazel asks if she and some others could celebrate with him since his mom and grandmother aren't there
His grandmother made the best dumplings (jiaozi)
His still taste good but they aren't quite the same as he remembers
Hazel helps make fish since the jiaozi take a while to make (Frank makes sure to mention the fish is served whole)
Nico is really good at cooking so he helps with the noodles (symbolizing long life) and some other foods after being given some instructions from Frank
Frank also puts out a bowl of tangerines and oranges for everyone (symbolizing luck and wealth)
Hazel, Nico, and the others really enjoy learning about his culture
Frank is glad he didn't have to spend New Years alone
