• ☽ THE HUNT ☾ •

The night of the summer solstice has arrived.

You and the other willing unmarked are sitting at the main burrow. Waiting. You were prepared by the elders of the Warren. You were bathed in salts and herbs and told to wear your scent proudly. Your hair was let loose and your body purified by the chanting and the burning sandalwood incense around you.

You can hear the rest of the Warren outside. They're laughing, chanting, and singing. You know they're marching to the bonfire. You know they're there to witness and cheer for what's about to come. You know it's too late to back down now. You ask yourself if you would, given the choice.

No time to think about it, the Head Omega and their handmaidens knock on the door. They enter and inspect you from head to toe along with the others. They ask if everything is ready, if this year's harvest can be presented to the Warren and its hunters.

The elders say yes. The time has come.

You're lined along with the other Omegas. Betas bearing flower crowns are brought in to escort you and your fellow Omegas to the festival. To make sure you're safe, 'til time comes you can't be anymore.

The Head Omega leads the procession along with their maidens. Your assigned Beta leads you gently behind them. At the procession's tail-end the Omegas elders that helped prepare you follow in line. Candles in hand for the goddess of fire, and prosperity and protection prayers on their lips in a sibilant wave of whimpering.

The crisp night air and your bare feet on the cold grass make you shiver. You can smell the smoke, you can see the light at the bottom of the slope.

Everyone is there. Faces adorned in the goddess's symbols and colours. They're dressed in their ritual clothing of the festival, green crowns of leaves on their heads contrasting with the vivid yellow one you are decorated with.

They're all excited to see you. This year's harvest was bountiful, the goddess has touched many Omegas to partake in their honour. The Warren is in favour and is blessed. You're a goddess-given gift to the Pack.

You look around. There's tables and more tables of food and drink, but no one is eating yet. Drums and a gong are a further back, but no one is playing yet. There's ribbons and flowers hanging from the frame around the site, swaying in the wind. And in the middle of it all is a tall, raging bonfire. The only light around. The only thing illuminating the dark forest that circles the festival. Your soon-to-be destiny.

Suddenly howling breaks from the crowd, your neck snaps in the direction they're all looking at. From the other side of the fire and down the opposite slope, in a similar procession to your own, are descending this year's hunters. Led by the Head Alpha and their first and second in command.

Unlike you though, they're led to the other edge of the bonfire. Away from the rest of the pack. Older Alphas keep a siege around the young hunters. Oppressing looks keeping their youngling in check. The hunters don't look up at you or any other Omega. You know they can't. You know they want to. You know this just fuels them further for the hunt.

They are trying their best to keep still. But you can see the lust coursing through their veins through the dancing hot air around the bonfire. You know it's like a rope pulled taught, about to snap as soon as the night truly starts.

After the Head Alpha and Head Omega announce the beginning of the festival and offer their blessings and wishes for this Year's participants and the Warren as a whole, your assigned Beta hands you a shallow dish with a colourful liquid. It smells and tastes funny. It makes your body buzz and your mind swirl a little. After you drink everything, your Beta leads you to the edge of the forest. They offer their blessings and wishes for a good match. They kiss your forehead and your hands and depart to join the crowd.

You're on your own now.

No more laughing or singing is coming from the pack. They're all waiting in anticipation. There's silence for a long while. The wind is making you shiver. You can feel the lingering eyes behind your back. The wait feels eternal.

The howling Head Alpha and Omega break the spell. It started. The hunt has begun and you need to run. Now.

You and the other unmarked Omegas are given a head start. The hunters wait back at the festival patiently, eyes cast down, as the forest veils your form. Howls from everyone in the Warren join the Heads of pack in a deafening call for savagery. The full moon is now your only guardian and the dark your only protection.

You run around in the blackened florest, bare save for the flower garlands adorning your hair, wrists and neck. You need to find somewhere to hide. You need to keep moving or any ordinary Alpha might catch up with you. You need to be nimble like a hare and clever like a fox. You need to outsmart your predators.

But your mind is swirling and your legs feel like stones tied to your hips. Every corner looks the same in the dark. You can't tell if you passed here already. If you're walking in circles or if you're far enough from the fire already.

The drums have been going back at the bonfire, you can hear them from afar. The starting gong rings, it vibrates down your spine. The hunters are released in the dark. Your time is up.

Alphas invade the forest. The shadows sway along the primitive rhythm of the music. Your breathing gets louder, your heartbeat floods your ears. It makes it difficult to tell apart the sounds of the night and the stalking of the hunters behind you.

You run for what feels like forever. More howls fill the night as the first of your kin are caught. You can't tell where you are. You can't tell how close they are to you. You don't know if the flowers around your neck are helping to hide you or just signaling where you are to all the moon-drunk Alphas hunting you down.

You run and run and without noticing you've reached a wall. The earth is too slippery to climb. There are no burrowing spaces around and the forest floor looks like a treacherous ocean of fallen trees. You don't know where to go. And just as you think you've found a narrow escape path you suddenly hear behind you: The snap of a twig on the floor. You've been found.

There's no time to think. You take your shot and run towards the path. You're fast. You're clever. You can outsmart them if you only continue running. It seems you'll make it, it seems you've lost them. But as you're running you're caught on the thick weave of roots on the hard-to-see floor. You fall. There's silence. You can't see anyone.

You try getting up and continue moving. But before you can get further, from behind a tree a hand snaps around your arm. Before you know what's going on your back is against the rough bark of the tree. Your wrists are being held above your head and the flowers around your neck are being ripped away by urgent teeth.

You struggle and fight with all your strength. You manage to land a kick on their gut. You scratch away with your claws when their hands loosen up, not caring what you catch in the process. Sliding away from them you try running again. But a strong hand slithers around your neck from behind. You're pulled tight against a solid unyielding body. Hands stuck, locked firm behind your back. Their other hand grabs your hair firmly, and tugs roughly to reveal your now exposed neck glands. This makes you whimper, and that in turn makes them growl. You can feel something warm dripping on your shoulder. It's the blood you drew from their face in your struggle. You can't tell if they're angry.

You wait for the bite to come at once. But it doesn't. Instead the Hunter just buries their nose in your glands. Taking in your chosen scent. Their teeth only graze your mating glands. Their hand detangles itself from your hair and travels down your chest, caressing it gently. This elicits a moan from you. They growl back again. Encouraged by your response, they circle your hips, and squeeze firmly. It feels like they're testing you. Studying you. Making sure you're ripe and ready. They don't bite still. As they lick your neck they seem to only care to take in your responses. You're shivering. You're hot. And when their surprisingly gentle hands travel further south, between your legs, you realise you're also dripping wet.

Your sopping parts are all they were looking for as confirmation. They bring you down to your knees with them still pressed hard against you. You can feel their arousal radiating from their body. They spread your legs as they drape their own body over your back. Forcing you in a presenting position. Their mouth finds its way to your ear.

"Ask for it" they whisper. You shake your head no. But your hips betray you as you press closer to them.

"Yield. It's done. Call for the hunter that earned you" They move their teeth back to your neck. Their canines prickling at your glands. Waiting patiently for your reply.

"Please" You beg. You are still deciding what you're begging for. Release or consummation.

"Clearer" they command.

You can't handle it anymore. Your hands hurt, their teeth are driving you crazy, and you never leaked so much in your life needing to be bred.

"Bind me" you cry at last.

And as their teeth sink into your neck, breaking the skin and spilling your blood on the earth. You know it is over. You've been caught. You've succumbed as the prey.

That's just the beginning, however.

The night is filled with your whimpers and moans as they bite you, kiss you and ravish you. Marking you with their fingers, their tongue, their mouth and their own leaking genitals. Shaping you into their perfect prize.

Your climax sobs mix themselves with their own possessive growls and the howls of the warren in the distance. You collapse tired and spent on the forest floor. You're nearly dozing off as your Alpha picks you up in their arms and carries you back to the festival.

The howling that welcomes you makes your head hurt. Your Alpha has you secured though. They take you to a bench closer to the fire, they sit with you on their lap still holding you tight. The warmth feels good on your sore body. They hand you a bowl of water and prod you to eat something. You don't want to eat, but they insist and so you do. You watch as other Omegas around the fire seem to be in similar positions. Some are already asleep. While the ones with more energy occupied themselves with more rounds of mating. Calling for the goddess and their new partner like their life depended on it.

You let yourself be lulled to sleep by the warmth of their body and the fire, the howling, moaning, laughing and music around you slowly fading into your brain like a single homogeneous call to oblivion.

"Rest, my Omega. I'll be here when you wake".

Before you can help yourself. Without thinking, the words slip from your lips. Naturally, like they've always belonged there. Like they'd always be uttered from then on.

"Yes, Alpha".

Knot Rock- Alpha centric sex music about sexual relations with Omegas with hazy consent rules, mostly popular in the 1970s and 1980s but had chart success into the 1990s

Omega pop- fluffy, sugary, love and platitudes, bubblegum pop music made to appeal to unmated Omegas and beta females, popular from the late 90s onwards

Omega punk- heavy, hard hitting, tied heavily to Omega Rights Movements, although fairly recent affairs, the oldest bands being from the 80s, the songs are some of the few that emphasise consistent consent and the Omega POV

Soft Rock- a more alpha centric version of the progressive and fluffy songs of the 2000s, popularised by the “in the Heat of the Game” movies

Nova Dancehall- a more traditional reaction to Omega punk by traditionalist Omegas and more rarely Alphas

in honor of my backache from sleeping in my nest on the floor last night (a hardwood floor covered with a sheepskin and a throw blanket) i wanna talk about nest mattresses! in real life and worldbuilding. disclaimer that my knowledge comes from mostly online so it’s probably not completely accurate.

so! cool floor beds i found that would make good nest bases.

the type of bed i could find the most on online is the Japanese futon. it’s what the western futon/sofa bed was originally modeled after but it’s very different. it’s basically a very thin mattress (shikifuton) over tatami mats (rush grass outer layer with a foam or rice straw core). both parts are much more moveable than a western style mattress. another important consideration i think is relevant is that futon covers go all the way around the mattress and can be washed (unlike western sheets which leave the bottom of the mattress uncovered which if it’s on the floor can get gross). futons are also meant to be aired out in the sun, which helps the whole dust thing.

another cool bed type i found are montessori-style house beds. they’re typically used for young children (toddlers and preschoolers) but do come in larger sizes (the biggest i’ve seen is a full). the bed frame sits directly on the floor with a thin mattress and a wooden house-shape on top that can support a canopy/curtains (which would be super cool for a nest lets be real). some also come with bed rails and bumpers so little kids don’t fall out, which i think would also be good for a nest because it’s more cozy.

of course i must mention the “human dog beds” which gained popularity in 2022 from going on shark tank but i remember first hearing about them around 2015-ish (and of course going that would make a great nest!). it is what it sounds like.

another, probably the cheapest option here, is camping mattresses. you know what these are. super thin air mattresses with foam tops. some come in double width (better for a nest imo) but most of them are made of that terrible slippery fabric (good for camping, bad for everything else). this might not be a problem for most people but i’m autistic and i gag touching them. you could cover it with a rug or blanket but those might slip off of it due to the gross slipperiness of the fabric. idk.

the last thing i can think of are traditional mattresses that are just. thin. you could use a mattress topper but a real mattress would definitely feel better even if they’re the same height because real mattresses have a comfort layer and a base layer and a topper only has the comfort layer (=more back pain for you). consider: dorm mattresses (at least my dorm had them, and it made an amazing nest), rv mattresses, and trundle mattresses. they’re all basically the same thing just different keywords (and slightly different sizes for the rvs). my sister has slept on a 4 inch mattress for six years or so and she only occasionally complains of back pain but for occasional use it would be fine (she also has scoliosis so. could be that).

now for some quick worldbuilding notes:

i definitely think that in an omegaverse society nest mattresses would be common. i think they would mimic traditional mattresses but shorter, like rv mattresses, but have an all-around washable cover/sheets to protect from floor grossness, sort of like dorm mattresses but able to be washed more easily. i also think they would come in more square or round shapes instead of the typical rectangle twin shape. i can see them having folding capabilities like some rv mattresses do, so that people could sun them like futons to get rid of dust mites.

i can also see nest frames being a thing, sort of like the montessori bedframes, with pillow bumpers to make a more enclosed vibe. i can also see a huge market for both frame-mounted or ceiling-mounted canopies, because who doesn’t want that.

maybe houses would be built with specific nest areas in mind, maybe with softer floors like tatami vibes or carpet. i’ve heard talk about conversation pits which are absolutely so cool but i can also see the advantage in an elevated nest space. my favorite nest of all time was in a ceiling cabinet because i could see the whole room but was harder to see myself, which made me feel really safe. so maybe houses might be built with raised nest platforms, or even small ceiling lofts overlooking a larger room (i couldn’t find an exact picture of what i’m thinking but this is close:)

I was thinking about this post and the ensuing conversation about retail and customer service workers. In the notes there is a lot of talk about the more scent-oriented stuff, but in this post, I wanna talk about something else that occurred to me.

Karens/Kevins in Omegaverse.

I should immediately state that I'm not from the US, so my personal experiences with Karens may differ somewhat, and my overall understanding of the "trope" or "personality type" is based on both my own non-US experiences and personal anecdotes and stories/footage/other posts I've encountered online. To me it seems Karens are quite universal and have very similar traits regardless of where in the world you are (entitlement, selfishness, bigoted opinions, thinking themselves better than others and just the sheer audacity), but I figured I should state I'm not personally familiar with the US Karen specifically, only through online accounts of encounters.

Anyhow! In the post I linked above I talked about the concept of "alpha males" and "incels" except translated into actual omegaverse- but I don't think I've ever seen anyone talk about what KARENS (or just, shitty not-alpha-male or incel/niceguy/nicegirl types) would be like in Omegaverse. Here are some things I personally feel like would be very common to Karens and Kevins, and the different kinds of them one might encounter.

Types Of Karens in Omegaverse/A/B/O/+

(Or in other words, a look at different types of shitty people in general, using the term Karen/Kevin rather generously.)

*note: while I'm classifying the different types of Karens into omega/beta/alpha, it doesn't mean that all Karens of said type MUST be of the dynamic mentioned- any dynamic or subdynamic can express the behaviors of a specific Karen-type, it's just more common for certain dynamics to embody a specific stereotypical karen-ness.

Omega (Ω) Karen, type: "Bitter"/"Bitter&Entitled"

Often, when speaking about "Karens", this is the type that comes into mind first. Karens of this type are the most likely to be similar to the perfect stereotype of a soccer mom parent, who believes they're entitled to anything and everything simply because they exist. They will not hesitate to use their kids/pups as an excuse to demand special treatment, and are exactly the type to berate a teacher for their own brat misbehaving in class, because "my McKaylwynn could NEVER, she's an ANGEL!". Almost always, they are trying very hard to live through their own kids, and often show favouritism towards any alpha children they may have. These are the type who will wonder why their kids move out at 18 and almost never talk to them. These Karens almost always stay in unhappy marriages at any cost, as they believe their alpha is what gives them their status and worth to a large extent, and often factors such as religious views on divorce being bad or a belief of bonding being "for life" is a part of this. They can, and in many cases DO cheat on their partners, however (and the partner likely does the same anyway). Military wives (the stereotypical kind) are a subtype of this Karen.

Usually, on the inside, these Karens are bitter omegas who grew up in conservative enviroments and internalized the idea that their purpose is to have kids. Now that they've had those kids, they feel entitled to special treatment, because they've supposedly been a "model omega" and believe that they deserve to be praised. These Karens are the type to ask other (often young) omega family members invasive questions during family gatherings, and tell them "they'll get it when they have pups of their own!". These Karens also cannot fathom the idea that an omega may choose to remain child-free, and does not approve of any same-dynamic relationships, especially omega/omega ones, as they believe it's "just a phase" and "they just need to meet the right Alpha to change their minds".

Deep down, as I mentioned, these Karens are likely just extremely bitter individuals, who have convinced themselves their lives are "good" and that they are "happy" because it follows the conservative ideal for an omega's role. Almost certainly, these Karens actually had dreams and ambitions of their own that were squashed by the enviroment they grew up and lived in, so now they are hellbent on taking out that bitterness on anyone who dares to step outside the mold for the "ideal omega", even more so if those individuals are clearly happy doing what THEY want. Usually, these Karens aren't aware of any of this however, so introspection and therapy are rarely going to help as their protective barrier of entitlement and self-impotance is simply too strong at this point.

Common phrases of the Bitter & Entitled Karen:

"I want to talk to your manager!"

"The HOA rules clearly state that..."

"Don't you KNOW who my husband is????"

"You'll get it when you have children of your own."

"Excuse me, don't you see that my child wants to play with your (valuable personal item, i.e. phone). Give it to them NOW! They're a CHILD! They deserve it MORE!"

"What do you mean you don't sell organic, dairy-free, gluten-free, gmo-free butter here? I want to speak to the owner of this place."

"Speak (language), this is (country), or go back to where you came from!!!"

"My husband knows the mayor. I will have you fired for talking like that to my precious child! They are NOT a bully, they would NEVER do something like that!!! Are you saying I raised MY CHILD badly? Do you even have kids of your OWN?"

"I shouldn't have to WAIT for service, don't you see I have KIDS?"

"Those two alphas shouldn't be holding hands in public, it'll confuse my child"

"My child started saying they're 'transdynamic' or something, I don't accept that kind of stuff in my house so I sent them to a camp to set them right. It was that or moving out at 15."

"No, my husband is never home, he's a BUSY man!"

"I wonder why my children don't talk to me"

Bonus: (Excessive use of a public f*cebook profile where they share increasingly personal details and very misinformed articles and talk about how it's the fault of 5G/gay people/vaccines/etc that their kids refuse to call them on mother's day)

Omega (Ω) Karen, type: "self-centered" (outdated term: "Narcissistic")

This is another type of omega-dynamic Karen, however, this type is less focused on their offspring and the entitlement they feel over being a "good omega wife/partner/husband". They're also less of a traditional Karen in the sense that they'll rarely cause public disturbances that inconvenience others, but they definitely aren't incapable of doing that.

The "self-centered" type (Omega) Karens are usually the children of wealthy, or at least upper middle-class families, but this is not mandatory as they can be found in any and every "class" of society. It's mostly about how they were raised in said families, than the financial background: either very spoiled, or not really paid much attention to and given no rules as a kid. These Karens also tend to be women, though exceptions exist- this is mostly because they've grown up believing themselves to be superior to especially Beta, but also Alpha females. Male omegas of this subtype exist as well, however their sense of superiority often comes from a deep sense of insecurity, and they've adopted the self-centered personality as a defense mechanism against said insecurity.

These Karens are demanding, self-centered, and have a sense of superiority over everyone except maybe people in high positions in society. Almost certainly, they were a "mean girl" or bully at some point in their life, and you can often find these types of Omega Karens going into nursing, child-care, and other traditionally "omega" professions: not because they enjoy it, but rather, because they enjoy the power they have on the people under their care. This is the main difference between this type of Karen and the previous type; These ones tend to use their status as an omega to their advantage, rather than their children/husbands/role as a "model omega wife"/etc like the Bitter one might.

Unlike the more conservatively-minded "Bitter Karen", these "self-centered" Karens are not afraid of break-ups or divorce, and often actually use it as a threat to manipulate their partners. These Karens are less likely to use the "don't you KNOW who my husband is?!?!" Sentence, but will do so if they happen to be dating someone even moderately important (which could mean anything from "the general manager at the local grocery store" to "talked to the mayor's secretary once" to someone ACTUALLY important, such as a CEO or the mayor, etc.) Often, if these Karens end up having children, it's to try to baby trap someone, whether it works or not. They usually don't actually care about their kids at all, but WILL use them as ammo/shield for any criticism the same way a bitter Karen might. These Karens are also more likely to date Betas, unlike the previous type who often believes that an omega should only date an Alpha. The self-centered type Karen often is a more manipulative type, where they'll use others to get their way, while the bitter type tends to demand things more directly. Their goals also tend to be more about themselves than their status or kids, i.e. they may buy themselves luxury items while ignoring their own children's needs.

This Karen is somewhat less likely to fall for Antivaxx/Conspiracy theory stuff than the "bitter" type (however, not immune), but the ones that do usually end up being the especially dangerous "crystal mom" types. These Karens, unlike the Bitter type, still retain their own interests and hobbies, though these hobbies and interests almost always are centered around whatever will increase their status and make them seem more desirable and good. Their sense of "perfection" does not come from being the "perfect omega" as in mother and wife, but rather, being as desirable as possible, usually to alphas, but honestly, even a sufficiently well-off Beta will do. While many Karens of this type could be called gold-diggers who are attempting to climb the ranks of society, this isn't necessarily the case: rather, it's the APPEARANCE of being "better than", that drives them, in whichever social circle they happen to be in. This could mean becoming a recruiter for a MLM scheme, becoming the "leader" of their local crystal mom group on f*cebook that everyone looks up to for advice, posting to social media about going on (fake) luxury trips and about spending (nonexistent) money to induce envy in family members and so on. Basically, these Karens seek power and acceptance/admiration, or at least, the appearance of it- whether that is in the form of wealth, knowledge, or by being the head nurse at the local old folks home. They crave being envied and admired more than they crave actual status, hence why they're prone to exaggerating on social media. Often, this chronic desire for power is a result of growing up as an Omega and feeling powerless because of their status and enviroment- only to eventually realize they can actually use it to gain power. This type of Karen loves to use their scent/pheromones excessively to affect others around them, and doesn't like to be told to control their pheromones. They will claim a disease or state that their pheromones are just naturally strong and act like the victim, if told to reel it in for the sake of others.

**Various people may refer to this type of Karen as "Narcissistic" or "Narcissist", however, having NPD is not a requirement to behave this way, nor does having NPD automatically make anyone behave this way- it's considered offensive to Cluster B Personality Disorder sufferers to refer to these Karens this way, which is why "self-centered" is the appropriate term to use.

Beta (Β) Karen/Kevin, type: "hateful bigot"

This type of "Karen" is more likely to be of any gender, rather than usually being a woman, hence why Karen/Kevin in the title.

These Karens/Kevins are practically always Betas, however their gender (male/female/other) can be anything. The reason they're called the "Hateful" type is because this type embodies the "Beta that absolutely hates all alphas and omegas" stereotype seen in some works of fiction. Interestingly, this type can be divided further into two subgroups based on their political views- the conservative types have likely grown up in families that have instilled the belief that alphas and omegas are bad for generations, and their ideology tends to be more "alphas in power are always bad and entitled and are only there to make betas suffer and don't deserve their positions" and "omegas are disgusting sex creatures meant for making babies". Meanwhile, the more liberal type tends to mask their hatred of alphas and omegas under the guise of advocating for "equality", while in reality they still share a very similar view- that Alphas should be treated as "lesser than" because their positions of power seem "undeserved" and "gained through nepotism" (regardless of the actual circumstances. They simply believe that Alphas should NEVER be in power, no matter what) to these people. The more liberal subgroup often has less to say about omegas, given they're already often at a social disadvantage, but will occasionally pretend to campaign for "omega rights" as an attempt to have sex with omegas by appearing supportive. (A real-world equivalent would be men that pretend to support feminism in order to try to make themselves seem more progressive and thus desirable for women, even though deep down they don't actually care about feminism at all.)

This type of Karen/Kevin-ness usually forms from a deep-rooted sense of insecurity and inferiority, a belief that as a Beta, they're seen as secondary or unimportant (which, in modern society, is very rarely the actual case), and thus they find themselves hating all Alphas for the power they perceive Alphas to possess, and being disgusted by omegas because of the perceived lecherousness and sexualized idea of the omegas they have. It should be emphasized that this is all born from their personal perception of the world, either through their upbringing or negative personal encounters and/or some unadressed insecurities, and not the actual reality. This type of Kevin/Karen isn't actually all that common, but they do exist.

This type of Karen/Kevin is the type to scoff at or be rude towards workers of Alpha/Omega dynamics, no matter what their position is. An Alpha cashier might get a nasty look and be told they "probably didn't even apply for the job, just got accepted because they're an Alpha" and an Omega construction worker might get a nasty look because "what is that omega doing working a manual labor job, shouldn't they just be at home carrying pups for some shitty alpha, what if they go into heat in the job, also they're probably weaker than any Beta coworker anyway..." -the discrimination can come in any form, and occasionally, these Karens/Kevins can actually end up causing public disturbances just because they happened to have a bad day and took it out on the nearest alpha or omega just trying to do their job or mind their business.

Common Phrases of the Hateful Karen/Kevin:

"Aren't you ashamed? You stink of filthy omega/alpha pheromones, that's disgusting."

"I'll bet that Alpha CEO is a nepo baby who got her position because daddy was another rich Alpha as well"

"That omega celebrity is disgusting, who talks about slick and heats on national tv. They should lose their career."

"I bet you don't even know how to do your job, you just make others do it for you since you're an alpha."

"Why are omegas even allowed to be high school teachers, don't blame anyone but yourself if some young alpha goes into rut and takes it out on you. Your fault for being there as an omega. The alphas are just as bad. Why don't they just separate schools by dynamic, they used to do that back in my day..."

"Of course I support omega rights! It's so awful how much discrimination you guys face, honestly, it makes me feel so sad. Oh, by the way, I really like your scent, do you wanna hang out some time ;)?"

"Jeez, you work retail and can't even do your job right? I always knew Alphas were useless, and still get so much favouritism. I don't care if its your first day, you should know how to (do a difficult job task) already"

Alpha (Α) Karen/Kevin, type: "superiority complex"

This (almost always Alpha) Karen/Kevin is, unfortunately, like fuel to the fire of the "hateful bigot" beta Karens/Kevins. They share some similarities to the "alpha alpha-males" mentioned in the post linked at the beginning of this one, however, they're not exactly the same.

These Karens/Kevins come in a variety of different flavours and convictions, in the sense that some of them are flat out alpha supremacists, while some of them simply have this internalized belief of superiority that they aren't necessarily aware of, resulting in micro-aggressions and shitty behavior, but not necessarily flat out discrimination towards the other dynamics. This type is common for some specific families, who have a belief that they should try to keep their "Alpha Blood" pure by only having children with other Alphas- in some cultures this is a remnant of historical social structures and often specifically something family elders believe in. In other cultures, it's more of an individual family belief, where at some point it has simply become a custom because Alpha children were seen as more desirable and valuable (be it for labour at farms, for more education possibilities, etc) and thus marriage between female and male alphas was the encouraged pairing. Any beta or omega offspring would often get treated unfairly in families like this, and often, especially the male alphas of the family, would almost always go into the same profession (for example, lawyer, law enforcement, doctor, business, etc).

On the more severe end of the superiority complex karen/kevin spectrum, there are Alphas who genuinely believe Omegas should not work at all and that Betas are below Alphas in terms of rank and thus should obey whatever the Alphas demand. On the less severe end of the same spectrum, there are Alphas who don't necessarily consciously discriminate, but will make insensitive jokes, behave inappropriately towards omegas in work enviroments believing that the Omegas must like it or expect it since they're working there, and not really understanding why anyone thinks its a problem if an Alpha CEO favours hiring alphas, especially their own family member alphas, as the higher-up staff.

While this type is rarely a public menace, they share some similarities with "alpha male" alphas in the sense that they may harass omegas in public, though they'll often be a bit less trashy than your standard "alpha male guy"- these karens/kevins aren't too likely to catcall or yell obscenities at omegas who refuse to pay attention. Rather, these Karens/Kevins might interpret a customer service smile from an omega barista at the coffee shop as an invitation to keep coming back and being uncomfortably flirty with that specific barista even after they have expressed that they're simply doing their job. They may also be the type to stand uncomfortably close to omega coworkers and make belittling comments, for example questioning an omega's ability to perform a task as well as a beta or alpha, or recommending only menial tasks far below their skill levels to omegas working with them.

This specific type is actually more often a Kevin than a Karen, however both exist in fairly equal numbers.

Common Phrases of the "Superiority Complex" Karen/Kevin:

"You sure you can handle that, cutie? Isn't that something better suited for a Beta or an Alpha?"

"You're really smart/strong/etc for an Omega"

"I don't know if we can hire you, you're at that age where you'll probably start having pups soon and you'd have to miss work a lot because of them... maybe you can apply for something part-time instead? Or maybe your partner can just take care of you, you focus on delivering those healthy pups and being a good parent!"

"Well aren't you a cute omega, working in customer service like that! The regulars here must be coming back just to see you! I see why they hired you, must be great for the business to have a cute face like yours here!"

"Honestly, I don't really get why omegas wanna work so bad. They'll just end up having pups and being stay-at-home-parents eventually anyway?"

"Sorry, we don't hire omegas for positions like these, they're too demanding"

"You know, I could consider giving you a raise, in exchange for something you could do for me... of course, no pressure, but do consider it"

Note: these are just the more dynamic-specific ones I headcanon to exist- there are WAY more different kinds of Karens and Kevins than just these, I just wanted to come up with a few examples of my own of types that could be more prevalent in specific dynamics. You can see a lot of traditional/real-world sexism reflected in these specific tropes since it's something Omegaverse can often explore in different interesting ways, and I didn't go into a lot of detail since the post is already long. Alpha nesting really depends on the person! I know of a lot of miscecanis alphas who nest just as enthusiastically as omegas, as well as alphas who nest to a lesser degree, and alphas who don't nest. My alpha likes to nest sometimes, but her definition of nest doesn't include nearly as many blankets and pillows as mine does :P i think that her favorite kind of nest are the ones that i make though, and when she cuddles up in them, she considers that nesting for her as well.

I can't speak for other miscecanis folks, but I headcanon that alphas (and betas) in a/b/o would nest for similar instinctual reasons as omegas, but they might have different behaviors around their nest. some ideas:

alphas tend to be territorial about their den, and if that alpha is a nester, they are likely to be even more territorial about that nest

alphas with an omega mate might be less likely to build a nest because omegas tend to be so proud of making nests for themself and their mate

omega nests might be pretty fluffy with lots of pillows and blankets and scented items-- I feel like alpha nests are less fluffy, but have even more scented items to remind them of their pack or their loved ones

alphas only nest in a place where they feel absolutely secure. omegas and betas keep private nests too, but they might be more likely to also nest on the couch or somewhere less private like that

if you think that an alpha's den smells strongly, wait till you smell their nest

bonus hc: beta nesters are known for nesting in unconventional places like under their desk, and they are the best at incorporating boxes, tables, shelves, etc in order to keep their favorite things within reach of the nest

This will be a short overview of a lot of things, so it's just gonna be a lot of thoughts and not a lot of depth. However I am planning on actually making an indepth post about each one of these topics.

With that being said...

𑁍just general food headcanons𑁍

The omega stereotype is craving carbs and sweet foods, specifically because of what they're like after heats. Most energy during heat is depleted, so in order to get their stamina back they have to eat all of carb heavy foods

The alpha stereotype is craving tough or crunchy foods, because of their ruts. With biting instincts ramped up they tend to want things that are harder to chew through. It's like the equivalent of putting a live cricket in a spider enclosure because they want the stimulation from hunting their food

Carb and protein filled foods tend to be stocked in most houses. Especially filling carbs. Families are typically very large, with multiple generations all living within walking distance or in the same house. Keeping dense foods stocked is important to keep everyone fed

Pups in particular tend to have slightly stricter diets because their stomach isn't built for handing some foods until at least their preteen years

𑁍naming your children, as well as derogatory names𑁍

I think that people would tend to name their kids after items that smell good, their favorite foods, other family members, plants, and religion

I also think they'd be a fan of situational names as well as generational names

For example, have three kids, one being named Sunday (situational, born on a Sunday), Suzie (maybe a pack members or a family members name), and Sumiya but her nickname is sushi, and all of the names starting with "su" makes the names generational.

You could even expand on that and have all the packs kids names be something like suki, sumirah, summer, summo, ect. Giving you a quite literal generation of names. (<- my family did this ! All the girls names end in "ah" and all the boys end in "en or on")

I can also see a kid being named something like Foxglove, Cedar, Jasmine, or even something like Honey or Teatree, because that's what the parent's mate smells like

I think calling an omega a "slick dripper" or a "slick house" is uhm... Not exactly a slur but it's not something you should say.

I think that married betas and omegas are told they are "Collared". It's typically derogatory, but there are exceptions. I think the alpha equivalent would be "Bitched", which is basically always derogatory

I think some people call betas "baren" or "scentless". Once again, not a slur, but definitely something close to it lol

𑁍pack houses and their differences𑁍

There's two different notable styles of home. There's a regular house, and a pack house

Pack houses don't have too much of a difference, but they are larger and tend to follow similar layouts. With one floor being taken up with giant meeting rooms and similarly size kitchens, as well as at least one bathroom with either a huge tub or multiple small ones. The upstairs floor(s) tend to house all the bedrooms and a few smaller on suite bathrooms

Some pack houses are essentially just mini mansions, completely with a few different wings of the house all marked by a different meeting room

And the term "meeting room" is also a difference. They're essentially just big living rooms. Why is there a different name, isn't that a bit pretentious? You ask. Bc some guy who thought he was better than everyone else coined the term pack house and decided there needed to be a difference, for some reason

Big families !!! Huge families even !! Families that take up entire neighborhoods or culdesacs !!

Not everyone's parents are romantic !! Some are just part of the same pack !!

In my personal au I use prime omegas and prime alphas, but they're just titles for the leaders of the pack. Even then, modernly they aren't doing much leading. It's more event planning, pupsitting, tie breaking lol, things like that

Your primes do not have to be mates or anything. It's just about who's the most reliable and level headed. Oftentimes, anybody who stays home for most or all of the day falls to this roll by default

Collars aren't typically worn outside casually. Typically they have a cause. Whether it's newly weds, protests, covering scent glands, or some secret 4th thing, they typically have a purpose.

Honestly this whole section would need to be it's own post for me to do it justice tbh

Clothes that "trap scent" are pretty commonly worn. They're made of a light but thick fabric that cinches or cuffs around the scent glands and they often comes in matching sets. This is especially common in omega targeted gym wear, but there are sets made for everyone

Nuns also typically wear this type of garment

𑁍miscellaneous headcanons𑁍

Gift giving is very important. Specifically, giving food is very important (I am biased, I am a very food orientated and motivated person). Giving someone food they don't like by accident is alright, but if you know they don't like it, and give it to them? Disrespectful.

So I'm semi familiar with the Christian Bible, I grew up going to church (<- religious trauma haver). You know how a lot of people draw Jesus as white even though he very much wasn't ?? Yeah I think people claim Jesus was an alpha, but he was a beta and there's overwhelming evidence in the Bible to show he was beta and people just ?? Ignore that bc they want to lol

Some people are born with animal features, some aren't. The place you were born in + your parents (and maybe a little plot relevant magic lol) determines what type of features you get. People who live in deserts or next to mountains are often born with horns or scales, while tropical and temperate climates tend to be born with more feathers and furry features

Heat blockers/suppressants as well as rut blockers/suppressants can only be prescribed by doctors. Giving them out or selling them can land you in prison post haste, but they're also so hard to get your hands on that the market of people buying them counterfeit grows everyday, despite the complications and risks

Blockers and suppressants can lead to fertility issues as well as immune issues, particularly in omegas, but don't count out anyone with ruts either, it's just less common. Lots of people on blockers are immunocompromised

Scent/pheromone blockers on the other hand, are much easier to come by, especially because they sell patches right over the counter. Though, if you wanted a much more discreet pill you would need to get those prescribed as well. It is particularly hard for omegas to get them prescribed, as usual

Last year in may you got a question about menopause in ABO and i really liked your answer that it happens to everyone! Though the part of there being no medication for it got me thinking.

I personally started going through menopause at 12, and my body just kinda deteriorated until i started testosterone at 19 which then my gonads actually kicked online and i had normal, consistent, and symptomatic menstral cycles as well as other feminine changes while getting masc changes from the T at the same time! (I also need shots of additional female hormones that i never made as well to help balance effects i get from this)

I say all of this because it has influenced my own miscecanis lifestyle and how i even view transness, dynamics and the mixes between them!

If something like an extremely early menopause or another gonad malfunction like this happened to a pup in an ABO world, what do you think could be done about it? How do you think it would effect how they would present? Im really curious about your thoughts! Thank you for your time

I am neither trans, miscecanis, nor have personally experienced menopause yet but here's what I do know -

Depending on what time period the au is set in, the individual unfortunately may not be able to receive medical help. Perhaps a local healer may be able to assist them, but I'd imagine this is an uncommon condition so it's possible they would not.

A good pack or a good family would always support them and look for ways to provide care - even if it was just to improve their quality of life and not solve the problem.

In more modern aus, there would absolutely be hormone therapies and treatments the individual could take to quell their symptoms and provide medicinal relief, although to keep regular menstrual and heat or rut cycles, the individual may need to be on a steady cocktail of medication through the rest of their natural lives, or at least until a time menopause was appropriate.

I'd like to think in that world, menopause and things like menstrual health aren't as taboo as they are here, and so people would be quicker to speak up if they were having issues, leading to medicine being more advanced in that field - in the same ways I outlined in that old post.
