I gotta go with my man, Rock Lock. It's been a while since I have and come on. Y'all know what month it is?!

My first impression: Bro asked about why kids were at a meeting about the yakuza and my first thought was "you have asked a very sensible question, I think I'm going to like you very much". I was right.

My impression now: Oh, Rock Lock is definitely in the top ten of my favorite MHA characters and after Miruko, he is my favorite Pro Hero.

Favorite thing about that character: I already took to him because of his personality. But I definitely admired the fact we have a family man here. I'm a sucker for badass dads who love their families.

Least favorite thing: My guy deserves more shine, just saying. Also, the fact that his wife and son don't have first names. I wanna know their names!

Favorite line/scene: Other than the hospital scene, which I'll talk about later, I gotta say his debut is one of my favorite scenes and I like this line he says "U.A. students or not, kids are kids. Of course I was worried about 'em." To me, it reflects that Rock Lock does have a caring heart. Even after that bit, he acknowledges that younger heroes like Midoriya just need room to shine to show what they're capable of. He's a guy who won't act like he doesn't care. He'll admit he's worried, but he'll still support you like an good person... a good parent will do.

Favorite interaction that character has with another: I want a whole segment of Rock Lock with his family. That hospital scene where his wife comes in running and crying with their son and how she just hugs him and the way he hugs back touched my heart so much! It's crazy to me, now that I'm thinking about it,screening! Pro Hero can I think of with a loving marriage and they barely have had screentime! Everyone else is either single or if they are married, there's problems (Endeavor and Captain Celebrity).

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: I wish, how I wish, him and Miruko had scenes together. They're both heroes who actually take being a hero seriously and you cannot tell me they wouldn't be besties. In my fic , There's Miruko, There's Rumi, they're friends and Miruko is Rock Lock's son's honorary aunt.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: I haven't seen all of Craig of the Creek, just a couple of episodes (I have younger siblings who watch it) but Rock Lock reminds me of Craig's dad. A man who cares about family and does his best for them? I'm here for it!!

A headcanon about that character: He definitely is that parent who attends birthday parties and PTA meetings (when Lil' Takagi goes to school). I headcanon that he and his wife went to school together and also had friends that live in the same area. In their adult years, some of them are married and have kids and whenever there's some party or play date, best believe the Takagi's are there.

A song that reminds of that character: I can't even think of one right now, but I'm gonna need NemRaps, DizzyEight, 954mari... anybody to make one!

An unpopular opinion about that character: I personally feel like Rock Lock is one the better heroes. Again, I hate that when he debuted the fandom was quick to hate on him and call him "mean" because he had a point. Why in the hell was kids dragged into a situation as dangerous ad dealing with the yakuza? And then it makes sense Rock Lock would think like that! He is a married man with a son of his own! And it wasn't like he didn't think Midoriya or anybody was capable because he does recognize their potential. What he's about is if you're going to take up a duty that can cost you your life, be serious about and not treat it as some game. It's funny to me that someone actually had the nerve once to compare him and Endeavor even though in season 5, Endeavor was quick to act like a brat because Bakugou and Midoriya was joining Todoroki for the Work Studies.

#dabihawks do reality TV

back and at it again with another quarantine-induced AU idea that i don’t plan on writing with any finesse. regrettably, this was inspired by all the trash reality tv i watch.

Here’s the rundown --

Touya doesn’t die and Dabi isn’t a thing. Rather, after turning 18 and getting the hell up out of Enji’s house, Touya strikes out on his own with the only goal of never seeing his father again, yet somehow still remaining an over-grown thorn in his old man’s side. Unfortunately for Touya, the only Todoroki the public acknowledges are either Endeavor or his prodigious son Shouto, meaning that no one’s really interested in hearing from the eldest son they never knew about. In any other case, this wouldn’t bother Touya at all (as any chance to distance himself from his father is a win in his book), but damn, if Touya didn’t wish for things to be easy just once.

So, Touya goes somewhere between 4-5 years working odd jobs, probably taking a few courses at the community college here and there, a little bit lost but ultimately doing alright...and then he sees the ad on Instagram.

“Ready to party and got a penchant for drama? Calling all singles between 20 - 27! Big television network is now casting for a new, hot reality show to film during the summer. All genders, races, and quirks welcome.”

Now, Touya knows exactly what this is -- it screams nothing but summer beach house shenanigans and foolishness, like those American reality television shows he likes to drunkenly watch on weeknights but with an overseas twist; the kind of show that’s likely make even the messiest of participants a star while also bringing nothing but utter shame to your family name.

For Touya, it’s really a no-brainer as to if he should audition.

Predictably, once producers run their background check on Touya and see that Endeavor’s son is auditioning for their trash-tv reality show, a guaranteed future of dollar signs and high ratings has executives drooling, and contracts are signed with the utmost haste. 

Fast forward to the summer, when Touya -- all packed and ready to ruin his father’s reputation -- enters the house and lays eyes on his castmates. They’re certainly an eclectic bunch (Yu, a failed pro-hero turned desperate reality TV personality; Kazuho, a seemingly-shy pop-star with an absolutely scandalous album to promote; Tenko, a total misanthrope and gaming nerd), but when Touya lays eyes on Hawks and Miruko in this midst of this ragtag bunch, he knows this is about to be a motherfucking headache.

Miruko is not some much of a issue, outside of being a hero who is apparently just in need of a vacation (and if there’s one thing consistent about Touya from canon to this fanon is that he still HATES heroes), but Hawks is a whole ‘nother problem. 

Why? Because Hawks isn’t just Hawks, that’s Touya’s former childhood friend right there (emphasis on FORMER), who Touya last saw give-or-take 10 years ago, after a huge fight over being commission pet projects and what it means to be a hero that left the two of them with faces red from screaming.

Sure, Hawks might have escaped the hero system after four (official) years in the game -- rising up all the way to the No. 2 spot before suddenly giving up his own license, exposing all the HPSC’s higher-ups, and suddenly becoming the country’s most popular (yet unspoken) vigilante and hero activist -- but that doesn’t mean Touya is ready to see him. After all, Touya doesn’t know Hawks, he knows Keigo and who knows if Keigo even exists anymore.

Anyways, apparently Hawks is here on the same tip as Touya -- i.e. to continue to besmirch the HPSC’s name and live out his 20′s being a mess like everyone should -- and while it’s caught on camera that two at least recognize each other from somewhere, it’s clear that in that two seconds of eye contact, Touya and Keigo made a mutual agreement to pay their past no mind and avoid each other this summer as much as possible.

Too bad they’re stuck in a single house for two months straight, and all they really have the option to do this summer is party, party, party with copious amounts of alcohol and impaired decision-making.

Needless to say, it’s easy for Touya and Hawks to be drawn to each other like magnets, even if it’s somewhat antagonistically. Despite ten years of distance between them, they were still best friends at some point, and Hawks end up drawn to Touya’s flame no matter how hard he tries to resist. Whether it’s fighting over who is responsible for buying groceries that week (plot twist: it was Tenko’s turn) to how Hawks totally ruined Touya’s chances with some rando at the bar (which was questionably intentional on Hawks’ part), the two end up making quite the pair for reality TV and viewers EAT. IT. UP.

This all comes to a head one night coming home from the club when a drunk Hawks -- no, this...this is Keigo all the way -- just breaks down on a miraculously-sober Touya and asks where it all went wrong between the two of them. He reveals how Touya was the inspiration for his choice to escape from under the HPSC, how Touya made him rethink what it means to be a hero, how Touya has never left his damn mind in 10 years, and how he’s so sorry he couldn’t see Touya’s pain past his own ego all those years ago.

Touya just tells Keigo to shut up, that they were kids, and that he’s sorry too. The two of them hug it out, and suddenly the weight on both of their shoulders has been lifted.

And just like that, things change between Touya and Keigo overnight. Fighting soon becomes friendly banter which soon leads to confused flirtation. No longer is the goal to hook up with hot randos at the club, but instead to have fun and party together -- cutting up on the dance floor. Any drama in the house -- and boy, is there still drama, like the time Miruko stole both Yu and Tenko’s dates in ONE night -- but more often Touya and Hawks always end up taking each other’s side.

Some nights, they end up sharing the same bed, with some lame excuse that they’re too drunk/high/whatever to walk to their own. Other nights, they stare longingly at each other under the club lights when they think one of them isn’t looking. Most nights, they sneak off -- just the two of them -- to hang out and just...be together. 

The night Touya and Keigo finally break through their mutual sexual tension and have sex produces some of the highest ratings the network has seen in HISTORY. It’s the perfect Enemies to Friends to Lovers reality storyline played out on live TV. A technician even starts crying from sheer happiness while in the control room.

Their housemates seem perplexed but cool with things; the only one not shocked by the recent developments being Tenko, who ‘could see this shit a mile away.’ Ultimately, It doesn’t really change much, save for the fact that Hawks (who will always still be Hawks when a camera is on him, Keigo is just for Touya) now has someone who can hold him up as he does a drunken handstand on the bar.

In the end, Touya and Hawks spend their summer getting wasted, falling in love, and making utter fools on national TV. 

Endeavor sits home and watches every episode, absolutely LIVID as his son proudly claims to be TODOROKI Touya while getting a goddamn lapdance. Fuyumi can’t stand to even watch -- ew, who wants to see their brother do that -- but always seems to be around whenever Miruko pops up on the screen. Natsuo thinks this is the coolest thing ever, and Shouto just wonders how he’s gonna explain this all at school.

His job now done and his dad throughly embarrassed, Touya becomes a one-time reality star and slinks back out of the spotlight. Soon enough, posts with Touya begins to decrease from Hawks’ instagram (not that he really uploads anything to start with), and viewers start to bet that he and Hawks won’t last past one month after the show. 

When they both pop up at the reunion with a matching set of rings and tell-tale smiles, the internet breaks..again.

To you, it’s not just a job. At least, not anymore.

 You see them every day. They’re in the ads that play on your TV. The news stories that show up in the paper. The interviews you hear over the radio. The video clips you watch on your phone. And they walk alongside you in the streets. Sometimes in costume. Sometimes not. Sometimes returning from a fight all safe and sound. Sometimes battered and beaten. Covered in bruises. But still alive. Still kicking. Despite all the dangers. Despite all the odds.

 But that doesn’t change who they are. That doesn’t change the fact that they’re a Pro Hero. That they save people. That they save lives every single day. Performing a service that many are too afraid and too weak to do. And it's thoughts like these that make you think about how they have to live. 

 Maybe concealing their identity. Maybe never stepping out into the public. Avoiding this. Doing that. Things out of their control. Things that they have to so carefully control. All because of their job. All because of their lifestyle. The lifestyle that comes when you’re a Pro hero.

 But that’s not you. It’s just not. You’re not a Pro hero. You’re nowhere close to being a Pro hero. You’re a hired whore. You do parties and private rooms and one-on-ones for cash. You keep identities secret, and you keep cocks warm. You spend most of your day naked with someone’s dick buried in between your thighs or your mouth sucking on someone’s clit. Sometimes the other way around. Sometimes in a different order. Sometimes not. 

 But you don’t have a job children aspire to have. You don’t have a job people send thank-you messages to through the TV. The bruises that you earn from work are the type you cover and hide with layers and layers of makeup and clothes. They’re nothing like ones earned from a battlefield. They are not something you can so easily wear with pride. Because you don’t save lives that they do. You don’t save the people like they do. But even then you’d like to think…

 “You look so pretty like this, don't you bunny?”

 You’d like to think that in your own special way, you save them. 

 “Yes…yes, I do,” You find yourself murmuring in between soft gasps of air as you answer Miruko’s question. The corner of said hero’s lips twitches upwards as her smile widens at your response. Your reward for your compliance is decided for you, and it’s decided quickly. It’s her hand adjusting its grip ever so slightly around your throat before starting to squeeze just a bit harder. And harder. And harder. “I…Miruko-”

 You almost choke on her name, but you know it’s what she wants. It’s exactly what she wants as she grins down at you with a powerful look in her eyes. Your eyes flicker to her arm for a moment, sneaking a glance at your captor. Her gaze follows your eyes easily, and you know that from the way she subtly flexed her arms, letting her muscles strain and tense under your watchful eyes. It’s a show of power. A show of strength. A show of stability.

 And a distraction from the hands of another coming down and laying a harsh slap to your ass.

 You squeal at the impact, your head immediately trying to turn back to see the assailant. But your neck is still caught within Miruko’s firm grip. There’s nowhere for you to run as the Rabbit Hero's intense stare lays into you. And absolutely nowhere for you to hide as the woman she came here with comes up to your backside and places her hands on your bare flesh. 

 “Hey, pretty girl,” Midnight’s voice purrs directly in your ear. You can’t help but let out a soft noise of surprise- though the sound quickly melts into a pleasured moan as you feel her lips kiss the side of your jaw. Once. Twice. Three times as the R-rated Hero takes her sweet time pressing her into your back and kneading your ass with her hands. Drawing patterns into your skin. Squeezing it. Playing with it. Slapping it. And making it known that you weren’t just supposed to be servicing one client right now. “You didn’t forget about me, did you?”

 You were supposed to be servicing two.

 “N-no…” You stutter out in a harsh breath, almost yelping at the way Midnight’s left-hand makes contact with your raw ass cheek. She tuts her tongue at you- a sure sign that she doesn’t believe your little white lie as she reels back her right hand and hits that cheek now. This time you do- you do let out that whine you were holding in all this time, and the two women drink it in strides Miruko is quick to cut off the sound by adding more pressure and strength to the fist she has around your throat. “I- fuck…um…”

 Behind you, Midnight continues her onslaught on your ass. Spreading your cheeks with perfectly manicured fingers before letting it all go and watching your backside jiggle and bounce with minimal effort. In between your desperate pants, the R-rated Hero asks for your color. And as you respond back with a whispered “green,” she hums approvingly, before pressing her lips against your shoulder- giving you the sweetest kiss as she goes back to focusing on your body. And as the Rabbit Hero flexes her fingers alongside your throat, she asks you if you’re enjoying yourself. If you missed them as much they missed you. And when you find yourself nodding along in her grip, the look in her eyes gets softer. Like as if that was what she needed from you more than anything at this moment. Not the sex. Not your body. But for someone to indulge her. For someone to indulge both of them. As if they were humans- not just heroes.

 And at this point in your career, it’s something you know you shouldn’t be so horribly turned on by. Something that shouldn’t be making you make this big of a mess in your panties. Something that shouldn’t have you about to beg to feel more of.  But you can’t help it. You just can’t. Like the two women in the room with you- you have wants. You have needs. 

 But that’s the thing. To you, it’s not just a job anymore. It’s a lifestyle. 

 At least, that’s what you tell yourself to justify all that you say and do.

 Still, you know what you do is important in its own way. It’s a job you don’t tell people. It’s a job you don’t brag about. But you show up every day and you do it. And at the end of the day, your bruises may not show up in the same places. They may not show up in the same ways. But you know what you do is important. You know you’re saving people. You know that you’re saving them - in your own little way. 

 And sometimes you’ll come out safe and sound. Sometimes you’ll come out battered and beaten. Covered in those bruises. Sometimes on your neck. Sometimes on your ass. And sometimes, littered all around your body in spots you never think of. In spots you never see. But those are the fights you win. The fights that you came out alive. The fights that keep them still kicking.

 Despite all the dangers. Despite all the odds.

One day, while stopping a robbery, you encountered another pro-hero around your age. It was Miruko, the rabbit hero.

"Haha, this will be fun!"She screamed, a smile on her face.

You watched as she stopped the robber singlehandedly using her quirk, restraining him until the police arrived to arrest the robber.

"Woah! That was amazing!" You said to her.

'Mirko's not going down!" She replied enthusiastically.

"Can I get your number?" You asked.

"Sure sweet bun!"

"Hey, how about we have lunch together tomorrow? We could try that new seafood place that just opened and get to know each other better! We could become good friends and team up to fight villains" You suggested.

"Sure! Anything to spend time with you sweet bunny!" She said hugging you.

Deep down she was seething. She wanted to become something more with you. She wanted you to be her girlfriend. She did not show her anger though.

Over time, you girls became closer and closer with one another. Miruko loved you more than a friend. You too would cuddle a lot with each other and were very affectionate. Miruko would get rather jealous when you spend time with other people and interrupt your conversations with other friends you had. One day you had plans to go to a party for one of your other friends.

"Hey Miruko, I'm going to my friend's birthday party. I'll be back in town in a few hours." You said calmly.

"I don't want you to leave me! I get so lonely when you're not around! Plus, I don't want you getting hurt,"She said, grabbing onto your arm and giving you puppy dog eyes.

"Okay then! I'll cancel going to the party!" You said, smiling.

Miruko couldn't believe how oblivious you were to her unhealthy behavior. You brushed off her behavior as a sign of her value as a friend and partner.

How oblivious you are, my dear. But not for much longer. Soon you'll realize my feelings, whether you want to or not, Miruko thought to herself.

No one asked for these, but here is my general BNHA headcanons:

- Class 1A likes to watch RuPauls Drag Race together as well as Trixie Mattel and Katya’s show on YouTube. They even like to joke that Aizawa and Mic are literally just Trixie and Katya respectively (unbeknownst to them, both Aizawa and Mic are avid Drag Race watchers themselves and fully accepted that they embody the two drag queens)

- Sero and Uraraka are besties I don’t make the rules. They speak Spanish in front of each other (this becomes relevant later)

- Present Mic can and will sing Brittney Spears at any chance he gets. If they’re listening to music, they’re lip syncing. If they are at karaoke, they’re most definitely singing “Kill the Lights” or “Piece of Me” I don’t make the rules.

- (Ok this is kinda an AU but it might as well be cannon if a certain death didn’t happen) All Might, Nighteye, and Dave are also besties. Anytime Dave comes to Japan, All Might and Nighteye take him to many places so that Dave can experience Japanese culture. They even host parties so that Dave can interact with the other pro heroes. Lmao it’s at these parties that the heroes learn about staples of American culture such as the Cha Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and the Macarena.

- I have a lot of head cannons about the nationalities/backgrounds of certain characters, so to list a few:

Present Mic is Japanese-Italian (Mom is Italian). They are fluent in Italian because they totally would know more than just Japanese and English I feel it in my bones.

Sero is Colombian-Japanese (Mom is Colombian). In my head, Sero was born in Colombia then immigrated to Japan after his Mom passed away when he was like 13.

Uraraka is Japanese-Mexican I can feel it in my bones again. Her dad is Mexican, but took his wife’s last name when they got married.

Satō is Greek. I have no real reason for this I just saw someone else have this hc and it has been in my head rent free ever since.

Nighteye is Vietnamese-Japanese, born in Vietnam and is fluent in both languages. It just resonates with me.

Edgeshot is Thai-Japanese. It also just resonates with me. He was born in Thailand and is fluent in both languages.

Tamaki is Japanese-Hawaiian, born in Japan to a Japanese father and a Hawaiian mother.

- Every pro hero came to Aizawa and Mic’s wedding. Even Endeavor, who was forced to attend for good publicity or something idk. Aizawa wore a tux and Mic wore a wedding dress that had a mermaid cut at the bottom and lace sleeves that went off the shoulder (can you tell I thought long and hard for this one hc lmao). Everyone cried, including Aizawa and Mic’s parents. Years after the wedding, Aizawa is the one to show Class 1A the wedding pictures after some pestering from them after he lets it slip that they are together.

- This one is random as hell, but Mic, Aizawa, Midnight, All Might, Nighteye, Jeanist, Edgeshot, Hawks, and Miruko all meet up for game night occasionally. A lot of inside jokes get created as a result. (Such a random ass group but I saw it in a dream once and couldn’t stop thinking about it).

While walking through the crowd of strangers trying to buy off small or large peaces of other people's companies I spot my favorite non-human (Sebastian).

Appon noticing me, and about to announce me to the boy next to him, I quickly held up a finger to my lips with a mischievous smirk. He turns away before Ciel noticed he had turned.

I made my way closer to him just enough to graze his back, thinking I was caught I pulled away.

Seeing as he gave no reaction I did it again, being able to fully touch him while to the public it looks as though I'm following him like Sebastian does.

I trail my have down and he spins around quickly, I can't help but snicker at him "Try not to get whiplash hun"

He blushes a bit at the fact that

2. He had to slightly look up at you

Who Should You Fight : Pro Hero Edition

All Might (pre-retirement) Who Wins: All Might, by a long shot okay, you can try fighting him. if he knows it’s just for fun and games, he might actually indulge you and let you land a punch or two. it won’t be so much as a tickle to him though, and once he decides he has actual important heroing to do, he’ll have you on the ground in .2 seconds. should you fight him? as a casual challenge, sure, i guess, it’d be a fun anecdote at parties

All Might (post-retirement) Who Wins: You, but you should Feel Bad what the fuck is wrong with you, that man has the strength of a wet paper tissue, a strong wind could knock him out. of course you would win, but at what cost to your conscience???

Endeavor Who Wins: Him, insufferably you’d lose so bad and it’d probably be embarrassing... but the point is, please fight Endeavor. i will give you real money to fight him. everyone should fight Endeavor, it’d be immensely pleasing to just land one punch. like, even if you like him as a character, you can’t deny there’s something so punchable about him

Hawks Who Wins: Him, but he’ll be chill about it honestly, a fight with Hawks would probably be over faster than a fight with even a full-powered All Might, unless you actually have a useful quirk for this scenario. the most he’d do is taunt you a bit from the air before sending literally just a single feather and that’ll be all it takes. that said, great entertainment value and he might buy you lunch after

Best Jeanist Who Wins: depends on your preparation i can’t be the only one who thinks you could probably beat Jeanist if you went in completely naked, right? i know he still has his own clothes, but his surprise could give you the advantage needed to kick him right in that vulnerable giraffe neck of his. this still requires you to have no shame and probably some basic combat skills

Miruko Who Wins: Her you would die.

Fatgum Who Wins: You, but you’ll always know he let you win he’s just too nice. he’d pretend that your punches are actually doing something. he’d go “ow, that was such a strong one, you’re really good at this” and eventually surrender. Fatgum will 100% invite you to at least a snack after

Present Mic Who Wins: it’s 50/50, honestly Mic is not unbeatable because he probably wouldn’t use his quirk against you at all, unless it’s to make you duck or dodge out of the way. the real danger here is his DJ punch, and I don’t think he’d go all out even on that if you don’t actually upset him before. he might get too caught up in commenting his own fight to keep up his defenses. he’d laugh off losing and tell you it was a good spar and everyone goes home happy either way

This is just for fun! So… Mirko knows Bakugo has a massive crush on Deku, so how do you think she helps Bakugo out to get Deku as his boyfriend?

You know what's crazy? I actually want to write a story with this! A side one to go with "Almost Wives" that's a prequel to "Tragedy Wives".

Long story short, in that AU, Miruko is married to Burnin while Izuku and Katsuki are a couple.

Izuku and Katsuki are aged up, but they're still younger than Miruko and Burnin. Like when they're toddlers, Miruko was already starting elementary.

She actually has known them for years here, since diapers. Their relationship did get rocky at some point, but she was the one that was like "Hey, talk this out right now or I'm locking you both in a room and not letting you out until you do". So because of her, their relationship is better just after high school starts for them.

This AU is also takes place in the modern day but with some horror elements in "Tragedy Wives".

But I digress!

I have actually thought about this!

I imagine Miruko being like "It's like middle school all over with you two again! This time, you got heart eyes and everything! Stop beating around the bush! If I have one of you come at me one more time about how you wish the other one would like you back, I'm gonna lose it! I love you both but I'm this close to locking you in a room together. This close."

Like she's not one to prolong anything, she'll be blunt. Especially when she knows if both parties are consenting and their feelings are mutual? Yeah. All that time wasting pining when they could be boyfriends already? Yeah, she's the fastest working matchmaker ever. 😆

Like with Katsuki, since in this AU she's closer to Izuku because their families knew each other and they're so alike, she's...

I know, revolutionary, a fic that I didn’t name after a song. I did have to stop myself from naming it after Dress by Taylor Swift though because that song sort of fits this story PERFECTLY. Anyway, this was a request from the lovely @thetruthunspoken, and for some reason Tumblr won’t let me post their submission on desktop but this is inspired by a TikTok from Deku cosplayer @/fourmonthsold. It should be right above this post on my blog!

Warnings: None. Reader flirts with Hawks who is like, 7 years older I guess??? Everybody is an adult though.

You loved being Izuku’s friend-date to things. It had started out as a fun thing when you were kids. You had both complained about how nobody would want to invite you to school dances and had come to the conclusion that it was better to just go together. You had suggested it, since Izuku was too shy to ask any of the 1-A girls at the time and you weren’t getting asked by any of the gen-ed guys. No pressure to get a date if you were just going with your best friend.

Over the years though, the reasons had changed and so had the parties. Now you appeared with #1 hero Deku to keep the thirsty girls off his back, and the parties were far bigger and more lavish. Not that you were complaining, since Deku provided your wardrobe. There was really only one downside.

You had made the fatal mistake of falling in love with your best friend, and he wouldn’t even be seen with you in front of paparazzi. You were a great buffer for all of the women who had noticed how handsome he was, but that was all you were to him anymore. Part of you wanted to scream that you had seen him first, had noticed how perfect he was long before all the muscles and heroic stunts, but you knew that would be pointless. You had missed your chance a long time ago, if you had ever had one.

Even so, tonight you had pulled out all the stops. Usually, Izuku had some kind of request for the dress depending on the event, but this time he had just thrown some money at you and told you to go at it, and go at it you did. Your long red dress was backless, a slit up the side racing up to your hip to show off your legs. Even if he wasn’t going to appreciate it you might find another hero to get with. You heard the winged hero, Hawks, was going to be here tonight and he was notoriously popular with the ladies. Maybe out of your league, but not in this dress.

When Izuku picked you up, you saw his eyes go wide.

“Wow…you look great. I mean, you always do of course, but this is something special. Did I miss something?”

You laughed a little bit.

“Nope. Just felt like dressing up.” You shrugged.

Izuku didn’t ask any more questions, despite being suspiciously quiet on the way to the party. When you got there you scanned the room, trying to see if the rumors were true. Sure enough, Hawks was over by the bar.

“I’m going to go get a drink,” you told Izuku, eyes never leaving your target.

You leaned your elbows against the bar, conveniently near the pro-hero you had your eye on. You ordered a drink for yourself, knowing Izuku probably wouldn’t want anything this early in the night. It always took him a minute to loosen up.

“Now what’s a beautiful young lady like you doing here all alone?”

You smirked to yourself before turning and resting your hip against the bar.

“Just doing some bird watching.” You shrugged.

“Is that so? Aren’t I a little old for you?”

You leaned in teasingly. “If you were, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now. Don’t worry. I’m a big girl.”

“I can see that. You know, if you’re not busy later-”

“She is.” A familiar voice spoke as an even more familiar, scarred hand wrapped possessively around your waist.

“Oh, Deku, this one is yours? That makes sense. I thought I’d seen her around before. Your…best friend, right?”

“That’s me.” You kept your confident smile in place, despite the racing of your heart at Izuku’s warm touch.

“So, you guys aren’t an item?” Hawks verified.

“Nope. Never have been.” You didn’t have the heart to say you never would be.

“So why come to these?” Hawks seemed genuinely curious.

“The dresses. He buys me a new one every time he wants something. It’s almost a shame we aren’t a couple. I’d probably own more of these gorgeous dresses.” You sighed theatrically, looking back at Izuku. “If only you were mine.”

Izuku frowned slightly but seemed to shake off whatever was upsetting him with an easy smile.

“Baby, I’m a hero. I can’t be your boyfriend.”

You felt a spark of annoyance at this newest excuse. I mean, that was just insulting. He was really going to use his job as an excuse not to date you?

You decided to put the power of your dress and the newfound confidence that came with it to use. You leaned back into his chest, placing a well-manicured hand along his face to tilt his head closer to yours. Anyone watching might have confused you for lovers.

“I know, I know. You’re the #1 now. Can’t be my boyfriend. You’re too busy being a big strong hero. Just like All Might.”

Izuku laughed nervously, sounding a little breathless. Maybe you had laid it on a little too thick.

“Maybe I could be, but I don’t know if I should be.”

You frowned, turning to face him better in your confusion.

“What is that supposed to mean?” It was a genuine question, all of the anger sapped out of you.

“Well, it’s dangerous being a hero. I probably shouldn’t date anyone until I retire. Actually, I always kind of accepted I wouldn’t be able to have a love life as a hero. Anyone who gets close is a target for villains. It’s why I always try to keep the paparazzi off of you. I don’t know what I’d do if you got hurt.”

“Wait…that’s why you’re never seen with me?”

Hawks found somewhere else to be just then, conveniently enough. You heard him get out of his seat behind, leaving you to your secluded little part of the bar. No doubt he decided not to be involved in whatever argument was about to go down.

“Yeah. I thought you knew.” Izuku frowned.

“No.” You stared up at him, mouth open in shock. “I always thought you were ashamed of me.”

“What?” Izuku grabbed your arms, pulling you closer so you could look into his bright green eyes as he spoke his next words. “I have never been ashamed of you. Ever. I’m so sorry I ever made you feel like that. I had no idea.”

He ran a hand through his hair, letting go of you to pace in place. He began mumbling under his breath, too fast for you to understand what he was saying. Meanwhile, you felt shocked tears well in your eyes, overwhelmed at this sudden discovery and the emotions pooling in your chest.

“All of these years I’ve been in love with you, thinking you just kept me around to keep girls at parties off your back.”

Izuku stopped dead at that, whirling around to face you.

“You’re-”

You clapped a hand over your mouth, horrified that he had heard you.

“Forget I said anything. I didn’t mean to tell you that. I’m so sorry Izuku. I don’t know what your reasons for keeping me around are, but it’s honestly not my place to ask. You were always very clear that we were only ever friends, and whatever I feel isn’t your responsibility.”

“Of course it is! You haven’t been just my friend for years! I’ve loved you since our third year. I just never thought you wanted me back, and when I became a hero I didn’t think you’d want to accept the danger of that kind of relationship. But…I was too selfish to let you go, and I’m sorry for any pain I caused you.”

“You love me?” The only words you really heard, you repeated them breathlessly.

“Yes.”

Throwing caution to the wind, you grabbed Izuku’s tie and pulled him down to your level, planting a reckless kiss on his mouth. He tasted warm and faintly spicy, like cinnamon. The smell of his cologne enveloped you as you breathed him in briefly before pulling away.

“We can talk about your stupid belief that I wouldn’t want to date you because your job is dangerous later. I’ll make a PowerPoint to remind you that I wanted to be a hero too, and just because I wasn’t accepted into the hero course doesn’t mean I didn’t learn how to fight. But right now? Right now, I have other things in mind for you, me and this dress.”

Izuku blinked before looking you up and down. “I am so glad I bought you that dress.”

Top 10 Things I’m Looking Forward to in Season 5!!

WARNING UNMARKED SPOILERS

As a manga reader, I’m looking forward to season 5 (though not as much as the 3rd movie and season 6) and hyped to see how Bones is gonna handle this season. It starts tonight, and I’m HERE for it. Here’s the top 10 things I’m looking forward to the most this season:

#10. THE CHRISTMAS PARTY CHAPTER EPISODE

I demand the chance to make MHA a Christmas tradition, dammit. I really hope they get to this chapter, and go all out with the holiday theme and fun. One of the last chances for the cast to have fun before it all goes to hell. 

#9. THE END OF THE PRO-HERO ARC

The first really exciting thing we’re guaranteed in this season is the wrap-up to last season’s “His Start”. There are a lot of points on it I’m really hyped for, but in the main: The Reveal about Hawks, the Todoroki family drama, Miruko in action, and a fourth component that belongs to a group I’ve compiled into another ranking on this list. Get ready for the passive-aggressive soba slurping. 

#8. MOMO VS KENDO

BRING ON THE BADASS LADIES HYPE, SHOTO. The animation on this fight in the trailer looked pretty sick, and I’m always down for Yaoyorozu screentime. She had so little in season 4, but now it’s her time to shine. This is the arc where she was voted the most popular female character, dammit! This part will be a blast.

#7. BAKUGOU VS TOKAGE

This was one of my favorite parts of the Joint Training Arc in the manga, and one of the biggest Bakugou moments since DVK2. Obviously he’s had a few even bigger rescue moments since then (OMG when those happen....) but this was the first step, the sequel to DVK2, and just great in general. While it’s mainly this “win to save” bit I’m hyped for, the rest of this fight is pretty great too.

#6. SHOTO VS TETSUTETSU

The Todorokis are responsible for quite a lot of great moments on this list, and Shoto’s big Fireball Explosion against Tetsutetsu is definitely one of them. This is a bit that’s definitely going to look great in the anime (especially if they bust out the real good animation for it). GO FOR IT SHOTO. Go all out dammit.

#5. THE WINTER INTERN ARC

I mean, if they’re making the movie about these three they must be planning on getting to this arc, right? The glorious wonder of the TDBKDK family dinner (the subject of the most popular post I ever made), all that Todo family angst, the character development for the Wonder Duo alongside it? Hell yeah I am here for all of it. 

#4. TOGA VS CURIOUS

This is unapologetically one of the fights I am most hyped for, action wise, in this season. No kidding. Toga is such a dynamic fighter, this fight is so brutal, and the character development that comprise this particular fight, are all in all one of my favorite bits in the manga to date. It’s one hell of a battle, and the blood is gonna look sick. 

#3. TOMURA SHIGARAKI: ORIGIN

Basically all of Tomura’s backstory, + the fight with ReDestro. This whole thing was so disturbing in the manga and I can only imagine how unsettling it’s going to be animated. How emotionally devastating, and how relevant now given recent manga events. Lil Tenko turned into the crazy hands free Tomura Shigaraki.

#2. ALL THE TOUYA TEASES

LOL I seriously considered making this #1, no joke. Now that The Reveal has happened and is no longer just a theory - and happened in such glorious fashion - I’m gonna be looking forward to watching and reliving all the crazy obvious teases in hindsight (mostly Chapter 190, the training flashbacks, the fight with Geten, and the drama of the Winter intern a rc). 

But my #1 for Season 5 must, of course, be...

#1. ONE FOR ALL SIX QUIRKS 

Yes, in all it’s controversial, crazy glory. All of this moment. The backstory at the beginning. The glorious BKDK feels that start it. The crazy hype of seeing Blackwhip animated out of control. The excitement of watching Ochako and Shinsou fight to save Deku. The Reveal itself (we’ll see if the anime community handles it better than the manga community, which they usually seem to do). I’m here for it all. BRING IT ON, #6QUIRKS.

Rabbit Dad Theory: A Weapon to Surpass Dad for One

okay so. I know that the theory about local big bad of the series being the protagonist’s father , but I’m pretty sure the real reason that midoriya’s dad hasn’t shown up in the plot is because he’s a rabbit

Part 1: Rabbit Motifs

To get this party started properly, let’s begin with a bunch of the rabbit symbolism regarding Midoriya himself.

The most notable of which being that his hero costume is literally him dressing up as a rabbit

His freckles are even stylized to look like little rabbit whiskers. fuckin naruto kinnie

It bleeds into his fighting style too

Two big innovations he has that aren’t based on previous users of one for all

are hopping from place to place

and his big, rabbit-like kicks.

(which would also go a ways to explain why the plot thought Midoriya having legs was a big deal)

A lot of this goes into his characterization as well. The most notable bit being how much the first chapter of bnha parallels the story of the moon rabbit.

(Sometimes referred to as the jade rabbit which. Green)

Anyway, the story goes that a rabbit, along with a bunch of other animals (it varies depending on region) decided to gather food for the full moon as an offering, believing that the best one will bring a reward from the gods.

All of the animals bring plentiful amounts of food, sans the rabbit, who brings only grass.

Eventually, a starving old man comes along.

The other animals have food to give him, but refuse to do so to meet their own ends.

The rabbit, sympathizing with the old man,throws itself into a fire he was kindling so that he can be fed.

The old man, touched by the rabbit’s actions, reveals himself to be a god and saves it.

In honor of the rabbits deeds, the god imprints his image on the moon, bestowing special gifts to him.

Along with this there are a number of other mild rabbity traits tho.

Such as his skittishness.

Not to mention his general resourcefulness.

The show regularly conflates Midoriya being himself with him looking and acting more and more like a rabbit. This isn’t too hard to understand from a Doylist perspective; Horikoshi blatantly just likes bunnies. (I mean just look at Miruko)

What’s interesting here is that we’ve never been given an in-universe explanation for why midoriya himself identifies this way. In a series that is otherwise really invested in dissecting the ideal versions of themselves that characters want to live up to, the show doesn’t provide any justification for a character motif Midoriya has that is almost as present as all might himself.

Judging from the title of this post, you can probably guess what my reasoning for this choice is.

**Part 2: Hisashi’s Quirk **

“But snake,” you may be asking yourself, “We already know what Hisashi Midoriya’s quirk is. He breathes fire.”

This is true. he probably does. Consider what we know in-universe, though.

Characters with heteromorphic quirks don’t have their physical attributes listed as a part of their quirks if they have a secondary characteristic.

Tokoyami is the most obvious example. He’s a bird person, but his quirk is dark shadow. The fact that he’s a bird man goes unmentioned because as far as anyone is concerned, the shadow monster is his power.

Characters like Spinner have their animal attributes listed as quirks, but that’s only because he can’t do anything a gecko wouldn’t. If he didn’t make his lizard powers his quirk he’d have nothing to put.

If Midoriya’s dad happened to be, say, a rabbit that could breathe fire, the fire quirk would be listed while the rabbit bit went unstated. In fact, in a roundabout way, the fire quirk makes rabbit dad even more plausible.

You see, most of the animal character designs in bnha are actually recycled from an old series horikoshi did called oumagadoki zoo. Mind you this isn’t a knock at horikoshi or anything. A lot of mangaka do this sort of thing. I’m mostly bringing it up because one of the main characters is a rabbit called Shiina

and one of the early gags in the series is him smoking a carrot like a cigar.

This would be very easy to translate to my hero academia’s setting if said character happened to breathe fire.

I should also say for those keeping score at home that I don’t necessarily think Hizashi is a Shiina expy specifically (tbh I kinda imagine him being more like a fluffy spike spiegel). At most I think it’s probably just some design motifs and some VERY loose plot points.

There is also the somewhat mild rebuttal of Midoriya never attempting to do anything rabbit-like while trying to see if he had a quirk, but I think that’s self explanatory. If Izuku was a rabbit he’d notice right away, so of course he didn’t bother checking.

**Part 3: Why He’s Absent **

Of course, another big question that might be on your mind is why he’s not present if that’s the simple truth of his identity. Why have him fail to show himself for what has now been 300 chapters?

I can think of two simple reasons:

1) It’s really funny

Just fuckin. The Mystique of it all. You can’t tell fans a character is going to show up eventually and fail to have them appear without piquing someone’s interest. It’s bound to make fans speculate, especially with the canon dabi twist hanging in the air. Years to imagine what his presence might entail if it was something big enough to be worth planning ahead for.

And then. Boom. Bunny.

Fucking. Hysterical.

2) The themes. Oh god the themes

You might have noticed by now but Horikoshi has a tendency of making like. The Shounen Jump equivalent to that rpg character you make as a joke that then has like. an undeniably tragic life when you’re actually forced to tackle with the implications of your own character building.

I would not be surprised if the Midoriyas ended up falling into that category.

So let’s get into that.

One of the big things that my hero academia attempts to tackle is the concept of normalcy.

Mostly how it’s kinda bullshit and, in many cases, outright harmful.

What makes this bit interesting within the context of Midoriya family is Izuku’s sort of. Artificial Plainness.

He is a character deliberately designed to look as normal as possible. The key word there is look. Basically anyone who’s been following the series long enough to be reading this post knows that the kid often struggles to keep his head down

which also makes it interesting that the only two scenes where Midoriya wears his rabbit cowl are scenes where he is actively questioning the status quo.

Methinks there is some symbolism here.

Which I guess brings us back to square one.

At the end of the day, the concept of Midoriya’s dad being a rabbit is funny because it’s so unexpected. Without him around, the Midoriyas look like a normal family.

But that’s also the kicker.

A lot of people are quick to call Izuku’s dad an absentee father, but technically speaking, we don’t quite know that yet. We’ve only been in a position where we don’t see him as the audience.

And, well, when your kid is being bullied for something as banal as being quirkless, you might not want to give society more ammunition to use against him.

It wouldn’t strike me as strange if he just avoided being seen in public with his son to keep him safe in his own way.

They say that the nail that sticks out gets hammered down the most. Under those circumstances, it’s not too hard to understand why the loosest nail might just feel safer wriggling out of the wood altogether.
