disagreeing with dad is not treason cr: austerlitz. especially as being on the tail of calling logan out for circulating the drug rumors abt kendall. this to me is such a youngest sibling moment; the mix of defiance and deference with which she says it has the cadence of lines you repeat over and over to yourself quietly enough that the practice never matters when you do say them out loud. anyway austerlitz ep of all time for the failfiance insight it gave us but that's off topic

rome you're a superstar and i love you (--youre a fucking bitch) of summer palace fame due to it encapsulates perfectly how weird they are all abt love and the projections of it all with re roman and shiv....the only way shiv can leech the vulnerability out of expressing love is by asserting (while you can see her grow cold on the inside w the discomfort) but this makes her come off as calculated and even sarcastic, mocking the listener a little for even assuming the existence of love in the potential for a misunderstanding in its expression do you get it. do you get how deeply closed off she is how there are compartments in her that can only be broken with herself. that moment after roman leaves jn which shes staring out at the sea w a devastated pinched look and then shakes her head and gathers herself into steel in the span of an instant is so. all the bells say foreshadowing 2 ME she really is just like me fr 😐

the look she exchanges with tom over the table after kendall's announced as the sacrifice. enough said

the empty exchange of sounds between her and caroline after caroline hugs her at the funeral and realizes shes pregnant. i could choose the you were an absence conversation later but honestly this hits like nothing else theyre saying absolutely nothing but everything at once and recognizing it too. and (sigh) shiv IS dressed like the mourning wife. normal show for normal people
