i’ve got you nonnie (& @pastelle-rabbit & @zeninsama). a continuation of beta breaker toji ��

toji comes in for coffee at the same time every morning. he orders the same thing—black coffee, hot—and always pays with crisp bills and clinking change. and as sure as he is to walk through the door at 10 am, you’re sure to be at the register wearing a too-bright smile.

for weeks, you exchange nothing but tense pleasantries.

he doesn’t consider himself adept at much, but reading body language is one of his specialties. he can feel your hackles raise the moment you see him, taste the disdain radiating from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes; the clench of your jaw, the tick of your brows, the tightness of your voice—you’re nowhere near as subtle as you think you are.

eventually, he bites.

“your usual, mr. fushiguro?” you ask before he can speak.

toji splays his hands hands on the counter and leans forward, hovering above you; it’s the closest you have ever been. he’s wearing a warm, musky cologne that floods your senses. for a split second, your veneer slips—a bolt of frustration flickering through your irises, lips falling a millimeter—before you gather yourself.

he cocks his head and smirks. “you don’t have to play fake nice with me, kid. you won’t hurt my feelings.”

“i don’t know what you’re referring to, sir,” you lie. “would you like your usual? or will you try something else?”

“you’re a shit liar.” he chuckles, gesturing to your arms—you didn’t even realize you had them crossed. he leans in even closer. “i know your tells.”

you sigh. as much as you aren’t interested in backing down, you want the bastard to leave. “what exactly are you getting at? are you going to order anything? or are you just here to waste my time?”

for the first time, you see toji smile.

his scarred lips split, gleaming teeth on display as he grins. his canines are large like every alpha’s: razor-sharp, intended to burrow beneath flesh and draw dark claret while marking his mate. the sight is as beautiful as it is intimidating; you swallow.

“i’ll have my usual,” he states before dropping some cash and turning around to find a seat.

the conversation leaves you unsettled for the rest of your shift. what’s he after? you aren’t scared of him, but you’re wary. beta breaker—you can’t stop thinking about your coworker’s warning. it sounds far-fetched, but you have half a mind to believe her.

toji, on the other hand, got exactly what he wanted from your interaction. by getting close to you and making you uncomfortable—an action that would have any omega putting off a foul scent—he was able to confirm his suspicions.

he’s all too aware that his cute barista is a beta.

#13 when was the last time you ate?

oh. precisely fifteen minutes ago. had my dinner (on time, surprisingly).

i had a chicken wrap. c:< what about you? have you eaten? <- you’re so sweet for worrying about me not eating. AUGH please tone it down a little this is not good for my rib organ.

#26 a scenario you’ve replayed multiple times?

to put it very briefly, there’s no such single and specific scenario that i replay in my head. i may sound very out of it right now, but i have a tendency to remember most things that people would say to me. <- including the small talks. i don’t know, i just. can’t help it HAHAHA.

it’s like taking notes for a subject you’re never going to give an exam for. just scribbling it down, y’know? and when i look at certain things around me, i’m like hey, <name> likes this. maybe i should send a picture or something. and then, that person’s mention gets me thinking about the conversations we had— just as a bgm, except that i’m actually focused.

i hope you got the memo. (i need to stop being so confusing. TTT)

Good girls. A venomous smile is framed by crimson red lips, the television in her suite displaying the start of the game and calls all players to the lobby, automated voice loudly announcing the request from all speaker sources. The Beach has become the game venue for Ten of Hearts, the final out of the 40 that have been played and won. How fast time could fly when you were having fun~ Mira had almost forgotten. It’s bittersweet to think things might come to an end, but music to Mira’s ears hearing the panic ensue just outside her window, the mad chaos brimming beneath the surface as players rush to get to the lobby and obtain their precious devices that’ll give them answers.

Her phone is collected, and confusion bubbles through the crowd over Momoka’s death… name of the game and rules declared so swift and matter-of-fact it’s left her puppets stunned. Arguments begin, finger pointing as fast as she’s calculated, and soon the Militants are using the Witch Hunt as an excuse to kill every person at The Beach.

With a place to watch the lobby chaos continue below, a voice calls out to her, naturally low and honeyed, and Mira’s disappointed he’s not already dead, somewhat banking on Niragi to do the job for them all. Too smart for his own good, and a problem from the start, protected by Hatter as one of his top players, Diamond minds as valued as the real things back in the real world. And quiet, lurking in the shadows but hidden in plain sight, bright white hoodie a beacon to catch eyes like moth to flame. Mira schools an expression of worry and concern. “Fun? In all of this chaos? They’re killing each other without blinking an eye! If we don't win, we won't get the last card... and that ruins our chances of going home.” A faux stretch of horror takes over Mira’s doll-like features next. “Are you having fun, Chishiya…? Is this the sort of game you find entertaining?” She could kill him too, make it look like an accident, throw him over the banister and watch his head go deadweight first and catch his fall. But that’s not how she plays. Besides… if he survives, he’s also, unfortunately, a prime candidate for her.

er. i don’t have any specific environment requirements for writing, to say it very frankly. does it count if i usually get productive after midnight, though?

(that does not mean that i’m disgustingly consistent. i’m an unpredictable little shit and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. c':)

#16 favourite place to write?

similar answer to the one above,, there’s no such desired ‘place’ for me to write.

i just seek a place where i can curl up like a shrimp (<- the everlasting doomed posture guys) and disconnect myself from the rest of the world for some time.

researching. as i mentioned in the earlier ask, i have unnerving admiration for delving deep into unnecessary topics. 10/10 experience would kiss forever.

and of course, the joy of writing itself— and sharing it with people that you’d want to see. i think that’s what makes this whole ordeal something that one would want to do again. of course, there’s more to it that i what i’m actually leading on, but maybe let’s save that for another day (or ask LOL).
