🎙️| HERE IS AN INTERVIEW WITH HV71 D Mira JUNGÅKER, TAKEN BEFORE SDHL PLAYOFFS!

Can you tell us a little bit about your team and how the season is going so far?

It’s been a tough season, from last year to this year we almost have a totally new team and coaching staff so it’s been hard. We are in the bottom but hopefully we get to the playoffs!

How was it or is it for you to play a typical male sport? Was it difficult to be accepted in the beginning or how was it for you?

For me it has never been a problem to play hockey, my youth team that I played with took care of me and my closest friends are actually boys from that team. I’m thankful that I got the opportunity to develop with those boys and team. Of course it was hard to get use to have a own locker room to shower and stuff like that but the coaches had good rules so I could be in the boys locker room almost all the time.

How is women's sport viewed and publicized in your country?

There is not much publicity about women’s hockey, but I think it’s in the right track. For example the U18 worlds here in Sweden there where around 3000 people watching live during semi and final game.

In your opinion, what can be done to make women's sports more popular in general?

That’s a hard question but overall give women the right conditions to give everything for hockey. Now almost everyone need to work or study and that makes it harder to train harder and develop.

But then the sport needs more money and I think women’s hockey needs to get attention and public to the games.
