OKOKOKOKOKOK SO AS WE KNow Mirabel does not have a gift like her family (excluding her grandma 🙄) What if casita didn’t see Mirabel to be special and didn’t have anything to go off when the time came? Like Antonio has a love for animals, his gift was understanding/talking to animals.
So… going off on this (and forgive me if I forgot anyone)
- Julieta liked (and still does) cooking/helping people
- Pepe liked the weather and possibly learning about it and/or was (and still is) really emotional
- He (we don’t DARE SPEAK HIS NAME) always wondered about the future (maybe not anymore tho)
- When she was younger, maybe people forgot Dolores was there so she just listen to what people were talking about. Now she hears EVERYTHING. (godblesshersoul)
- I have nothing for Camilo. He’s just a silly boi. Maybe because of his name?? Idk
Long story short, Mirabel just didn’t have a interesting interest.
Btw I think we should keep in mind that she’s casita’s favorite (for what I heard). Possibly to make up not giving her a gift. Which is not surprising tbh imo.
Also I heard that in the movie (I didn’t see as I only watched the movie once and I was distracted by the scenery and music) , young Mira wiped her hands after touching the candle. And that could be it. She wiped off the magic. If that was canon, I would cry.
I think she wasn't given one bc she didn't need one. In the candle scene, Estabela and Camilo tried using their powers and failed, while Mira managed to make it.
Mirabel is creative and helpful, shes good at art and music, she's kinda and caring, there was a lot she could have done with a gift that involved that.
Its possible she was meant to be the next head of the family. All the gift users only really focus on chores and things that involve their gifts, but Mira was able to do a bunch of different things, and help in different situations.
Leaving her giftless lets her focus on different things.

An Unusual Interest
Tumblr media
Warning: Potentially Triggering Subject Matter
Icebreakers in any context are annoying as hell. You want me to narrow down the three measly things that can generalize my personality? Here’s the three you’ll always get: My name is Kiyara, I’m a Libra, and I love clowns. That is absolutely fucking true. No, I’m not a Juggalo or have a clown fetish, and no, I don’t know why I like clowns so much. The only viable explanation I’ve come to is that I’m weird and I like weird shit, whether it’s to shock others or because I’m genuinely fascinated. This is not a recent thing with anything to do with the new IT remake (fucking flawless btw) and I didn’t jump on the band wagon when people were chasing strangers at night dressed like clowns because that’s fucked up and those people perpetuate the stereotype that all clowns are evil scary stalker child molesters. I can honestly say I’ve had a healthy appreciation for clowns since I was 7 or 8 years old, and since then it’s been a battle of convincing others it’s a legitimate creative talent, like being a drag queen.

Weapons + Sharp Teeth = Scary, Masks + Jumpsuits = It’s A No From Me.
I don’t even know where to start with my interest in weird stuff. First 6 years of my childhood I was always gifted porcelain dolls. Creepy if adults have them but apparently not for a little girl who couldn’t even play with them… So it escalated from there. My friends and even my family thought the dolls, my toy clown (Quincy Tyler), and my interest in serial killer t.v. shows were… Scary? I can understand spiders, the dark, the ocean, those are all undeniably threatening things. But birthday clowns? Glass dolls? Actor portrayals of murderers? Harmless. So yeah, I love the gory horror movie clowns too. I love the shock value it has on other people and how they’re irrationally afraid of things that aren’t immediately harmful, but even other weird people think my thing is too weird. White trash people dressing in clown makeup is cool, but performance artists with colorful costumes entertaining children (and adults for centuries), NOPE TOO CREEPY. “I’m afraid of clowns”, “Why?”, “They’re just creepy and I don’t like them”, “OK WELL I’M AFRAID ONE OF US IS A LIL BITCH.”

p. Mira Fujita: Sad Pierrot - Actual painting in my bedroom c. 2010
If people were going to shut me down because they were too afraid of something for no real reason, I was gonna up the ante. My grandma’s friend gifted me a beautiful painting of a french clown that hung in my room for years, and I now deeply regret getting rid of it. I kept my dolls on the shelf above my bed until my younger sister started sharing my room, and in the box they still live. When I was hospitalized as a teenager in the psyche unit, I brought my little bead-filled clown with the rabbit’s fur red hair, I literally cuddled with that toy every night because my mom gave him to me. My best friend since 4th grade, we share our favorite serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. That one guy killed over 30 men and boys, simultaneously making clowns widely hated. I’m not crazy about birthday or circus clowns, but they are really talented at balloon animals. If someone is going to look me in the face and say they don’t like clowns for no reason, well they’re just close-minded. I’m not the one who’s going to allow generations of acrobatics, makeup artists, harlequins or court jesters to be saddled into the same vile category as pedophiles. This use to be an enjoyable profession and now it’ dying out like birthday parties themselves. They’re not scary. Murderers, pedophiles, people chasing you in the dark, bad makeup artists, those are all scary. Stop fucking ruining cool parts of history by hating on me and my clown homies. They didn’t do shit to you, if anything they helped protect me from my fears of the judgement of others who avoid the macabre.

^ Equal parts freaky and ridiculous. Just like me, sans murder.
