2. The artstyle and the eyes of the characters I thought they were really pretty
3. I’m into MILGRAM which cough music project,,, but hypmic was the first one that put me through multimedia hell so thanks to hypmic for that
4. Doppo definitely. I loved him so much in the beginning. Now to a lesser degree, but I’m still obsessed with him. I did not really care about BB, but I liked Saburo. Now I really like Jiro!! And saburo!! I have personal beef with Ichiro. Same with MTC tbh. Samatoki was pretty so yeah. I liked FP and MTR originally, that hasn’t changed
5. Doppo or Gentarou thanks to the anime probably
6. Kuko and Ramuda. I did not really like Kuko, but then I became a changed man after watching multiple lives (I love his VA) uhmhmhmh I did not really like Ramuda in the beginning but now I think he is super silly and I cherish him dearly. On another note, I did not like DotsuHom in the beginning cause I don’t like change and DotsuHom was a division I didn’t know after I finished the anime. Well. Guess who loves DotsuHom now
7. Matenrou and Fling Posse
8. Well Sasara is my favourite character now, and Rosho is a very very close second I don’t even know what happened I was influenced by my twitter mutuals,,,, and then I still adore Doppo and Gentarou, and I have a feeling BAT are gonna start creeping up too
9. Whatever the first rhyme anima song was. Besides that, it might have been BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE
10. Dont stop the party, both Sasara solos, Positive is my life, Rinka (I LOVE Rinka), both jyushi solos, black or white, and hmm too many to name tbh

Kvaen - The Great Below When I got into heavy metal about ten years ago, give or take, I never got into black metal. I understand the appeal for it, although I don’t really understand the appeal for the lo-fi black metal that sounds like it was recorded it was recorded on a gramophone in 1895, where you can’t hear absolutely anything and it just sounds like a bunch of noise. That’s where I don’t get the appeal, but I do understand more standard black metal. The tremolo riffs, the blast beats, the screechy vocalists, the corpse paint, the “trve kvlt” aesthetic, and the lyrics about Satan, burning churches, etc, etc. That’s super “metal,” so I get the appeal for that stuff, but I just never got personally into it. I like some black metal, such as some blackened death metal, or a few straightforward black metal bands, but it’s a genre that’s never done a lot for me. Another part of why, aside from the music itself, is the attitudes that a lot of fans and artists have, whether it’s their very elitist and pompous attitudes towards other styles of music, even within metal itself, or their very racist and nationalist ideas that a lot of black metal bands have under fire for in years past. I’ve wanted to get into more black metal, I just don’t know where to start. I had the new album from one-man Swedish solo project Kvaen reccommended to me, entitled The Great Below, so I thought I’d check it out, especially when there’s not much else I’m dying to hear right now. Thankfully, this album is really cool, and I had no idea what to expect when going in, but what I got was was a blackened speed metal album. I didn’t know that type of black metal or speed metal existed, but okay, I guess. It’s one of those things I didn’t know I needed until I heard it, but The Great Below is a pretty fun album, although I do have a few slight issues with it. Let’s get what I like about it out of the way, and it’s simple -- its sound. I love how this record is very fast, akin to speed metal, but it’s dark and menacing in the same way that black metal typically is. Black metal, for better or worse, takes itself too seriously, and this album doesn’t do that. It leans into that speed metal sound, and a lot of this album is lean and fast. The black metal is still there in full force, mainly in terms of song structure, guitar tones, and the vocals, but the speed metal takes hold very nicely. At a nice 39 minutes, this album doesn’t overstay its welcome, but that leads me to one of the problems this album has -- it’s not memorable enough. I love the instrumentation, as the guitarwork in particular is stellar, but despite being so short, the album never has a chance to breathe, and I don’t have time to remember what I’m listening to, so by the time it’s done, I like what I hear, it’s just one long blackened speed metal song. It almost seems like the focus is more on how fast the songs can be versus the songwriting, especially when the songs are between five and eight minutes in length. Black metal is never a genre that’s fully captured my attention, but this album kind of has. I wouldn’t say it’s a top album of the year, although I’m sure there are plenty of folks that will have this quite high (and for good reason). I’m happy I checked this out, because I have been going back to it, but not really in the way that I wanted to. It’s almost an album that I like when I hear, but I don’t take anything from it after it’s done, minus some good instrumentation and a relatively unique sound. Honestly, there’s another band that I’ve been listening to that does this sound, too, and they do it a bit better. I’ll talk about them soon enough as well, but that could be why. I’ve been excited to go back to this one, but I don’t want to revisit any specific song, it’s more so the album as a whole. There aren’t any specific moments that stick out at me, because there are so many of them. If you’re a black metal fan, or even if you’re a speed metal fan, you’ll probably enjoy this. This album’s pretty solid, even if it doesn’t have any real standout moments, but that’s kind of because the whole album is a standout. I guess that’s a good problem to have, so it’s not really an issue that hinders the album, per se, but it does make the album less memorable in a sense. I don’t know, I’m glad that I checked it out, despite not being the biggest fan of black metal (although I do love me some good speed metal; Judas Priest’s 1990 album Painkiller is a masterpiece and a masterclass of speed metal), and it’ll be on my AOTY list, for sure, I’m just not sure how high it’ll be.
