Fic titled 'Brother I'm Not Much A Poet But A Criminal'
Where Kinn finds out that kim didn't actually leave the mafia world he just hides the fact that their father makes him do shady shit in exchange for being otherwise left alone and doesn't interfere in Kim's life besides calling him to do what is practically suicide missions for anyone else every couple of weeks Kinn sees Kim stumbling around the compound, bleeding and bruised after a particularly bad mission but Kim refuses to tell Kinn why he's like that, he manages to get to the infirmary and pass out. When Kim wakes up Kinn is by his bed side asking what happened and being a concerned older brother, but Kim's too high on painkillers to tell him to fuck off and just starts crying with how frustrated he is with his situation and starts telling Kinn about how the only reason their father let him leave and pursue music was cause he was using Kim as an attack dog.
#it ends with kim waking up to find out korns dead :)#i was listening to mcr and the lyric just fits kim so well okay#will i actually write this? idk#id have to rewatch the show cause i honestly forgot what kinn is even like in canon and i wouldnt know how to write him#kim theerapanyakul#kinn theerapanyakul#kpts#i have a whole list of song lyrics for fic titles but no actual fics to go with them gshjfhkgdfhggdfg đ#i had another version of the same title (minus the brother part) but it was about chay finding out wik was a serial killer#like i have vague ideas to go with the lyrics but every time i try to write them i just cant

Everytime I listen to "Ruthlessness" from Epic The Musical, it always reminds me of a scenario in Minus One where "Hey, what if Tachibana did NOT forgive/help Shikishima and continued to hold that grudge against him?"
Therefore, I am compelled to bring you...
My TED talk of why I think this song is basically the scenario of Tachibana if he never forgave Shikishima;
Disclaimer: I will not take from the musical itself, only the lyrics I see on screen
Blue ; Lyrics
Normal coloured text ; Analysis
Also HUGE Godzilla Minus One Spoilers and I am totally 100% sane making this
---
(I'm not counting the multiple "Poseidon"s at the start because you can't really analyse that </3)
" In all my years of living, it isn't very often that I get pissed off,
I try to chill with the waves, but damn you've crossed the line. "
The mention of the waves - I see as a direct reference to the fact that Shikishima is a minesweeper - sailing the waves on his boat. (This is assuming this is all being said to Shikishima after he becomes a minesweeper)
" I've been so gracious, but yet you hurt this son of mine "
Instead of the 'yet you hurt this son of mine' line making an accusation of hurting his son, I'd say Tachibana would instead make a direct reference to Shikishima letting his friends get injured(killed)
" That's right, the cyclops you made blind is mine. "
" No, "
[ N/A - Dont have analysis for these lines ]
" I'm left without a choice, and without a doubt
Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the sharks now
I gotta make you bleed, I need to see you drown,
But before you go, I need to make you learn how "
Okay, so, for the first two lines, I took this as two meanings. My first idea is that the whole "sharks" mention is another little reference to Shikishima working on the ocean. But then, the pack of wolves swimming with the sharks could be a direct signal to the large group of corpses (Tachibana's allies) on Odo Island being washed into the sea after the Godzilla attack. And clearly the third line of harming Shikishima is Tachibana wanting to practically kill him due to him blaming Shikishima for his crew being gone.
" Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves "
First of all, such a banger line in general. Second, I think this would be Tachibana saying that you need to kill to be 'Ruthless' and execute certain actions sometimes to save those around you, which in a way saves ourselves because if he saved everyone around him, he wouldn't have to feel that guilt. He considers Shikishima to have had a choice when aiming at Godzilla, and Shikishima "actively" never took that choice. If he did kill Godzilla - In which perhaps the powerful guns could have in Tachibana's eyes - then he would have mercy on himself because he wouldn't live with the added guilt of being responsible for all those deaths caused by the lizard he "refused" to kill.
A Greek who reeks of false righteousness, that's what I hate!
" You are the worst kind of good 'cause you're not even great.
'Cause you fight to save lives but won't kill and don't get the job done,
I mean, you probably could have avoided all this had you just killed my son,
But no "
Alright so, the first two lines I feel like this is Tachibana criticising Shikishima for taking the role that's known for saving their people and being heroic (hence the false righteousness) but failing to protect those on the island because he couldn't do "one simple thing" per se, and pull the trigger on the guns aiming at Godzilla. And of course the worst kind of good not being great ties into what I talked about him seemingly taking up this role and not being able to save those Tachibana cares about.
The third line sort of ties into what I've just explained about with Shikishima being a pilot in WW2 but failing to kill Godzilla, and the last part is pretty self explanatory, replacing the 'my son' part with him talking about his crew again.
This whole verse could perhaps refer to him being a Kamikaze pilot too and taking a dig at him surviving the war, even if it does kind of make Tachibana a hypocrite by then.
" You are far too nice, mercy has a price
It's the final crack, we're bound to break the ice now
You reveal your name, then you let him live
Unlike you, I've got no mercy left to give 'cause "
I feel like the "you are far too nice" could perhaps be a hint of sarcasm, followed by mercy being mentioned, which solidifies the idea of Tachibana thinking it was Shikishima's choice not to kill Godzilla rather than the truth of his hands freezing up. I feel like he's too clouded by his frustration and anger of losing those he cared about to consider that Shikishima didn't choose this. Or maybe he's too filled with anger/hatred to care in this case. The more he thinks of such a thing, the angrier he gets, so he tends to push it out of his mind until this scene.
" And now it is finally time to say goodbye, today you die
Unless, of course, you apologize
For my son's pain and all his cries
Poseidon, we meant no harm
We only hurt him to disarm him
We took no pleasure in his pain
We only wanted to escape "
[ N/A - No analysis other than what I've already spoken about. Perhaps the part about him only wanting to escape but thats about it ]
" The line between naĂŻvetĂŠ and hopefulness is almost invisible
So close your heart, the world is dark and
Ruthlessness is mercy
Die. "
With the thought of Tachibana still thinking that Shikishima had a choice, the first line possibly could refer to it's niave to inflict mercy on ruthless creatures such as Godzilla, because it won't get him anywhere. The hope that Godzilla will take any mercy is naive. And of course, the second one is enforcing the first line, telling Shikishima that the world is a dark place that doesn't take kindly to mercy. I feel like in terms of the last line of "Die," Tachibana would actually want to kill Shikishima in that moment to avenge his friends. I mean, we see in that scene where he gives over the letter, and his anger surfaces how he attacks Shikishima. We also know how far people can go when placed in a stressful setting whilst filled with anger and hatred for a certain person who has wronged you as much.
What have you done?
When does a ripple become a tidal wave?
43 left under your command
When does man become a monster?
I am your darkest moment
The monster that always draws near
Any last words? "
Last but not least, the final verse I am going to analyse. (Yippee!!!)
Now I see a ripple becoming a tidal wave as Godzilla surviving Odo Island and then causing distruction another few times. One event which went wrong turned into a bunch of them occurring. Last but not least, I feel like for the 'when does a man become a monster?' Up to 'The monster that always draws near' instead of Tachibana saying these lines, it's Shikishima's survivor's guilt surfacing as he reflects on what he's done and how he believes he's handles everything. It makes him beg the question of does he even deserve to live at this point? Is he part of the problem and the true monster who has been a catalyst for these events, no matter how much he's tried to stop it - seeing as it follows HIM around?
Finally I feel like the final part is him getting ready to take his revenge.
For the last few lines thats left of the song, honestly doesnt fit in my humble opinion so I shall not include them :3
Extra;
Setting/Time: I think in my mind, this argument with Tachibana arguing with Shikishima during the scene when Shikishima finds Tachibana and Tachibana has seen the letters and is visibly furious about this. It would explain his anger filled explanation and his desire to just get rid of "the root of his problem". Plus he was intentions angering Shikishima in order for Shikishima to actually find him, which would fuel his rage even more!
A quite note that I am taking this from the perspective of Godzilla being a real, tangible creature. I know in the movie he's meant to represent survivor's guilt but I feel like this whole analysis above would make a tiny bit more sense if he really was a real creature. I dunno,
That's all for now! I'm just cramming my thoughts into this one post X3 They don't call it Cherrydrop rambles for nothing!! I've honestly had this concept in my head for a while now and as much as Id love to make this into an animatic, I dont have the time nor motivation for it. However, hope you've enjoyed reading through this chaotic post, and gold star if you did! :3

#pardner playlists#yehaw aesthetic#cowboy core#cowboy aesthetic#this playlist is mostly indiepop but theres also some bedroom pop and neofolk#tbqh it's basically a reject pile for all the (catchy-- very catchy) songs i cant put into my other cowboy playlists#because theyre too modern and/or electronic sounding to fit with 1800s settings#(ex: i desperately want to put the lyrics of 'cowboy hat' onto an rdr2 playlist--#--but i cannot stomach the idea of associating y2k bedroom pop music with my grimy gruff outlaw blorbos)#'cowboy dreams' is a really fun cheery playlist ! i listen to it when im tidying up my house or doing laundry#its also smth i listen to when i go on morning walks bc its optimistic and energetic#im proud of how i handled the graphic design on this one !#the glittery cowboy hat is a good visual representation of the sort of Vibes the music has.#its the audio equivalent of a plastic glittery cowboy hat that you can buy for $5 at party city.#its not so much about real cowboys as much as its about the idea of them. the campiness. the artifice.#these songs play around with the cultural icon of the cowboy as a costume#ex: ''the real clint eastwood / the real lee van cleef / ended up in a bar in hull / minus all of their teeth''#if i had to connect this playlist to a western movie i'd probably link it to#zachariah (1971)#or something else similarly camp and absurd#anyways ! enough of my rambling. enjoy and lmk if you found this entertaining.#đ¤ #pardner posts

So while Iâm on my âYouâre Losing Meâ riff, another thing that really strikes me about the song is how pervasive loneliness is in it.
This isnât inherently unique in Taylorâs music; she is after all the narrator in most of her songs. They are inherently self-centered and not in a selfish way, but in a literal way: these are songs about her and her perspective. It makes sense then that YLM is uniquely about her experience in this relationship and this breakdown.
But when I talk about the theme of loneliness, itâs how alone she as narrator is throughout the story. Even in the opening salvo, where he says, âI donât understand,â and she says, âI know you donât,â the conversation represents two people fundamentally pushed to their own corners.
There is a clear split between we and I throughout the story.
We thought a cure would come through, now I fear it wonât. We loved this room cause of the light, but now I just sit in the dark and wonder if itâs time. Should I throw out everything we built?
Thereâs a divide between when they were on the same team, and when sheâs been cast adrift. They were working on fixing their problems, but now she alone is burdened with the knowledge that theyâve passed the point of no return. They chose a home to house their future dreams together, but now sheâs left all alone in the dark feeling those dreams slip away. They built a life, but now sheâs the one having the make the call to take it down.
But it gets progressively darker than that. The line about being a phoenix mending all her own gashes has always jumped out at me, because it connotes her dealing with blow after blow by herself, having to put herself back together each time, the onslaught relentless even if she ultimately overcomes. Yet itâs him who tears her apart for good. The image it paints is of a person continually facing her own struggles on her own, dealing with the fallout like a lone wolf (sorry for the continued animal allusions?), but whatever it is that the subject he does breaks her worse than the thousand cuts sheâs experienced before. Even here, the idea is of a person who shoulders her burdens by herself and being praised for it (something something when I used to fight youâd tell me I was brave etc. Even though I know thatâs an entirely different situation but itâs also not) or at least being expected to do it, but the subjectâs actions â or lack thereofâ cut deeper than any of those lonesome fights. She keeps fighting for herself, trying to grow from the hurt, but his âblowâ threatens to undo it all in one fell swoop.
Of course, as the song continues, the story expands and becomes one about miscommunication and apathy. Iâm not one to believe that every single line in Taylorâs songs is literal; sheâs a master at metaphors and scene setup, so as much as some commentary interprets the line about glaring and sending signals as literal and therefore putting the onus on her for not communicating effectively and expecting the person to be a mind reader, I feel like this is where her affinity for being flowery paints a far sadder picture.
She glared at him with storms in her eyes could mean sheâs acting pissed but not saying why, but it could just as easily be a metaphor for sharing anger/upset with your partner who refuses to acknowledge its weight. (How can you say that you love someone you canât tell is dyinâ when itâs right in front of you?) I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick could be seen as again not saying whatâs wrong and expecting him to pick up on her behaviour, but I also feel itâs an instance where her penchant for emotive language is at play: itâs not that she expected him to read her mind, itâs that she tried every way she could and he still didnât care. The signals could be that like a lighthouse in a storm: clear and guiding, but dangerous if ignored. She told him in all the ways she could, literal, emotional and physical, that she was wasting away, but he wouldnât take it seriously. It once again details the experience of a person living through this tragedy completely on her own, whose pain is dismissed at every turn.
Which brings us to, âMy face was gray but you wouldnât admit that we were sick.â It could mean, she was making herself ill and he ignored the reasons why, but as I mentioned in my post earlier, death hangs over the entire song. (Thereâs a larger essay to be written about that theme alone.) To me, itâs not just that sheâs grey because sheâs ill, her face is grey because sheâs (metaphorically) dead. Sheâs already died (or the relationship is dead) before heâs even admitted there was anything wrong to fix. She alone is sitting with this realization.
As the song continues, the loneliness with the burden of this knowledge shifts to the loneliness of everything she feels sheâs done or felt thatâs been ignored or dismissed.
My pain is an imposition. (On you.) I gave you all my best meâs. (And I didnât get yours in return.) I bled and tried to be the bravest soldier only in your army frontlines. (But you didnât fight in mine when I needed you.) Iâm the best thing at this party. (But youâd never acknowledge I exist.)
By the time she gets to the end of the bridge, sheâs fading fast but even as sheâs losing the battle, sheâs still imploring him to fight for her and them in a last-ditch effort. Show me youâre still with me. But she never gets that answer, because ultimately theyâve lost the pulse, and her heart has stopped. While the song begins with them fundamentally misunderstanding each other, it ends with her confirming her fears in the opening: there is no more we, but there is no more her either. Sheâs gone, all alone, without anyone there to see it.
In spite of the fact that the song is super catchy and uptempo, with a characteristic banger bridge that is fueled by anger and seeping with resentment, âYouâre Losing Me,â is incredibly sad and kind of morose. It leaves such an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach, which I imagine is only a fraction of the feeling of the person experiencing the story is.
#me thinking too hard about taylor lyrics#lyrics analysis#taylor swift#Midnights#youâre losing me#writing letters addressed to the fire#Sadly i relate a lot of this song to my mother minus the marriage stuff lmao#it makes me so sad for Taylor because the feelings of loneliness pain and apathy in this song are just so heartbreaking#especially for someone shouldering it alone#and not to compare to current events#but it must be wild to feel some lightness after sitting with all this for so long#Again the death imagery is a lot and I donât think Iâm the person to discuss it#but itâs definitely A Thing
