Astral Travel - Kikuo & Hatsune Miku i've been listening to Kikuo's stuff for a while but somehow i didn't notice that they dropped a new album?? honestly that's how it goes most of the time for me, it's always a fun surprise

Whisper - The Dear Hunter i'm kinda surprised it took 4 other songs before i hit a TDH one tbh but yeah this one!!! the migrant album was the album that got me into TDH, actually, and it's in my top 3 albums i think??? this song is especially fun to scream-sing loudly when you're feeling emotions. what emotions, you may ask? who knows! just as long as there's lots of it! just look at the lyrics cmon. also not to sing casey crescenzo's praises to the sun and back but, this man's voice. when you hit the chorus, man oh man. i love it.

The Carousel - Best Frenz & Joywave JOYWAVE joywave my beloved!!!!!!!!!! joywave's another band that i completely failed to follow along with and then suddenly i re-found some of their music, went "this is so good please tell me there's more" and then found all their albums??? and then there were NEW ALBUMS??? this is one of the tracks from one of them. this ALSO gives me tremendous oc brainworms (shaoyuan my beloathed again)

The Moments in Between - The Reign of Kindo if you like TDH, you'll probably also like the Reign of Kindo, because that's how i found them lmao. completely unrelated, if i have enough brainworms about an oc, i inevitably end up associating them with a band/multiple bands, and this band i strongly associated with tora. not even sure why!!

Burning Pile - Mother Mother wow, what a blast from the past. i used to listen to this as a sad depressed teenager!! and now i am a sad depressed adult, and i have different music i listen to, but this one still hits the same. damn. i'm such a sucker for a song that sounds happy and then you listen to the words and you're like fuck.

Ring 1 - Tower - The Dear Hunter ANTIMAI MY BELOVED. i cannot, for the life of me, decide which my absolute favourite song from the album is, because i love them all. but this one is definitely one of the top top faves. when the music slows down around the 2 minute mark?????? and the narrator in the song gets all smugly menacing?????????? and the instrumentals get all chill????????????? i simply die

Sword of Drossel - OSTER Project i think i found this track when i was in my late teens?? and then i forgot about it for a while, and then relatively recently (in the last 2 years) i had a sudden vocaloid nostalgia kick, and then i actually found this one on my streaming service and i was like oh shit???

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

hm. that’s kind of a tough one. i think i’ll say this one for mcyt, which is funny in theory but execution… idk. it’s a twist on the solidaritek fic i did a while back.

feat. my partner in crime @bibliobasilisk who encourages all my terrible ideas.

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?

several—in many different fandoms. i actually download them off ao3 and ffn to take with me on my ereader! lemme list a couple from a few of my main fandoms.

fullmetal alchemist — i’ve got nearly 100 fma fics on my kobo. uh. safe to say i’ll read and reread anything by tierfal or batsutousai.

one piece — aural pleasure by unda has my entire fucking heart and i was absolutely devastated to find it deleted but thank fuck i had it saved.

homestuck — anything by callmearcturus is worth reading but my favorite is this one with a shoutout to this one for the dave&jake&aradia friendship. and i would be remiss if i didn’t rec this beautiful fic my friend @mintchocolateleaves wrote for me when i wasn’t feeling well.

mcyt — and since i’m sure this is the fandom you rly want to know about i’m include some specifics. it’s a mix of scarian and solidaritek for the most part.

literally anything by illuminamint. you could never know. we’re here together. we are the foxes. some kind of trouble is coming. are we dancing after death, you and i. crushes and confessions. i don’t think i could stand to be where you don’t see me. one word from you and i would jump off of this ledge i’m on. set you sailing from my harbor. worlds apart (but never too far).

there’s another fic i have saved that was deleted at some point, coffee for dinner by belligerentren. and also trust life by capritarius which is v long at 278k and not on my ereader yet bc it’s still unfinished but so, so worth it.

Ohhhh ouch this hurts so much! But it's amazing, like I love how cute these two are together? Hakuba moving away is definitely heart breaking, especially if Kaito wasn't expecting him to go. AMAZING! I love it!!

aaaaa thank you so much ;;-;; I love HakuKai so much cause it’s nice to explore their relationship. It’s just sad we don’t see more canon interactions with them both.

listen, if you tell me that kid plushies (not of the voodoo variety, thanks akako) don’t exist as a thriving market in-universe (complete w/ tinny recorded “ladies and gentlemen!!1!” voices) i’m just not buying it

At any rate, the magician definitely isn’t a morning person, unless one includes the hours of midnight to 3am. It’s an entertaining sight, frankly speaking.

ok so this is 100% me projecting my own tendencies (sorry, kuroba) but also lbr, kaito literally would not be able to pull off the entire kid shtick if he wasn’t already a night person to begin with

Kuroba gives a considering hum as he wanders over to the fridge for an onigiri. “Isn’t the question mark sort of… I dunno, implied? I always assume it is with this sort of thing, that’s worked out fine so far.”

confession: i snickered a lot (a LOT) while writing this part, because i’m hilarious like that

also, i feel like neither of these two would cook much?? at least not on a regular basis?? even though they’re both probably somewhat competent at it, having lived fairly independently and all

(honestly, if they all ended up at the same uni somehow i could definitely see ran and kazuha like...... cooking big portions on the weekends and distributing it around – they get to try more recipes and everyone gets their fridges filled, win-win)

Not for the first time, Shiho seriously wonders if she should’ve accepted the offer to move in with Kudo and the rest, even though the science faculty is across campus from their apartment near the law school. That’d probably have entailed corralling case files and discussions of murder instead of glitter bombs and doves – and she wouldn’t rule out the possibility of actual corpses, not with Hattori around – but she’s at least 80% certain the detectives would keep it out of the kitchen if she asked them to.

i figure shiho is still in some kind of biomed field (or possibly forensics? idk), shinichi and co. are studying criminal justice, while..... well, no one really knows what kaito’s doing?? not even he really knows sometimes tbh – ostensibly he’s an engineering major with a minor in chemistry, but in practice he’s just ridiculous as usual.

meanwhile, in the detectives’ lair: lots of Murder Things and case notes pinned up on the walls, although heiji’s is kind of a Hot Mess™ to everyone but him (shinichi can actually follow the reasoning if he tries, but they just tend to organise things rather differently to start with)

(also yes there was probably an actual dead body once because corpse magnets)

overall, as far as fics go this was one of the scenes that pretty much popped into existence quite fully formed (hence why i could dash it off before class) but aNYWAY um i just remembered that i did halfway-write a fic preceding this one where shiho doesn’t react as well to one of kaito’s antics? so i’ll just. post what i have won’t i

I mean, it’s not like I hate ‘im or anythin’ like that, I mostly just don’t know what ta do with ‘im. I’m not that good with kids in the first place, but that kid’s kinda in a class of his own.

I mean, what kinda kid is so at ease around murder scenes even if he does wanna be a detective when he grows up? It’s good that Kazuha’s watchin’ ‘im, but…

I guess he’s an okay kid though, other than the weird part. Won’t let me check out those gadgets that that Professor makes, though. It wouldn’t hurt if I just took ‘em apart a little, right???
