the different twins i muse or muses who have twins that i have are on my mind rn

nathan rayner and micah ravenwood are twins in a complicated sense. they're not biologically related, technically, but they also aren't human. (it's complicated.) nathan is physically older than micah by a couple years but micah is the older twin. micah lived lifetimes by itself waiting for its brother to be born again, nathan has died several times before but always comes back looking for his family. micah is death itself and nathan is fear embodied, the two of them have been intertwined since the first people began to die and fear was breathed into the world. micah always comes first – in the cycle of creation and in the cycle of rebirth. micah will change his vessel and nathan will be reborn and they will always look enough alike to pass as siblings.

mason and aubrey keay are the most functional twins. they've had good lives, good parents, and more siblings than they know what to do with. they're stable and they support each other well. the sports they've both chosen to compete in were originally chosen so theyd be able to spend time together. mason is a competitive figure skater and aubrey plays hockey. when mason starts streaming it's only natural that aubrey will join him. aubrey's handles on everything are almost the same as mason's, even the name he uses to stream with mason. his is resekaplan2 to mason's resekaplan. mason's fans call him reese whereas mason is kap. they're each other's best friend.

and the most tragic twins of all time, jackie and kieran bennett. they're so cain and abel coded and they can both hold so much mental illness in them. kieran thinks he's his sister's murderer and jackie sold their souls to bring kieran back to life. jackie is willing to be something less than human because a life without her brother wouldn't be much of a life at all. they're the same age but jackie is his big sister and always will be, sometimes it feels like she's older than him only because kieran feels so small and she is so stable to him. it's jackie who comes to pick him up when he's sixteen and alone in the emergency room after a fight that he had no chance in winning. it's kieran who's learning how to help his sister as best he can, who's taking his meds and trying to do better because jackie doesn't worry as much when he's doing better.
