Getting into "Shin Sekai Yori" really makes you think about the rights and wrongs in a world where everyone has psychic powers. When you look at how harshly Yakomaru is treated, it makes you wonder if the society in the show is too extreme in their justice system. Episode 4, where they learn about their history from that creepy Minoshiro Modoki, really puts a lot on the shoulders of Saki and her friends. It’s like, suddenly, they have to deal with the heavy past of their own world. Plus, the show doesn't shy away from asking some tough questions about what makes us human. Watching how the Queerats and kids labeled as dangerous are treated really makes you think about how we define ourselves and treat others. It's kind of wild how the show mixes these deep topics in with all the psychic power stuff. I've been really speed running the first half of the show since I've been reading that it gets better, but jumping from episode 4 to 12 made it pretty hard to find more to write about the first half. Still enjoyed it, but I'll see if I can connect a little more to the series in the latter half.
