Bucky’s not going home for Christmas. But it’s fine. He’s spending Christmas alone in his apartment, but it’s cool. He’s not feeling up to seeing his family after his accident anyway, plus he has to work. He’s totally fine with it. But then he runs into Steve, literally, and suddenly his Christmas isn’t looking so empty after all.

Hurrying was a bad idea. Bucky’s foot hits a patch of ice and slides out from under him in what would have been a comical cartoon banana-peel-like trip, if it wasn’t happening to him, and he braces himself to hit the ground. This is going to hurt.

“Fuck,” Bucky screeches, but as he lands on his back, it’s not the cold hard concrete he expected, but a solid mass beneath him. Oh god, Bucky thinks as he realises he smacked into the person behind him and took them down with him.

Steve was nervous.Yeah, maybe he had been the one suggesting this particular date, but still. That didn’t mean his social awkwardness had magically evaporated. The only thing he knew about the guy was that his name was James, he was a friend of Sam’s and he was supposedly wearing a red shirt. Hi, I wanted to recommend "Under the Bridges of Fame" from the Cap Big Bang by notlucy. I finished it two days ago and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. The premise is one I haven't seen before (it's Shrunkyclunks) and the story is so compelling with really great characterization and development. I want to give it a million more kudos but I can't so I am recommending it instead!

For better or for worse (usually worse), Steve Rogers has been the most famous guy in the room for a while. And though newsreels have given way to YouTube, people's reactions haven't changed much in seventy-some years. Steve's become an expert at keeping his head down and getting on with his life.

A head-on collision on a busy street sends books flying and sweeps Steve off his feet. The point of impact has a name: James. A charming mess of long hair, thick glasses, and a crooked, not-quite-smile. If he recognizes Steve, he chooses not to comment, placing him firmly in Steve's good graces.

As far as Steve can tell, they might be Bogie and Bacall all over again, save for the group of idiots with selfie sticks who surround them. But for once, the request isn't for Steve.

Which begs the question: if James is James, then who the hell is Bucky?

I want to rec the amazing fic that REALLY deserves much more recognition than what it currently has. “Begin Again” by maikurosaki 💛. It’s a beautiful story of two people so in love with each other to let past heartbreaking ruin what they have. Really, every Stucky reader should get on with it. Also, I want to start a petition to include Bucky’s father in every story from now on.
