Work Friend: So what did you do at the mall yesterday?

I Thought I’d start this blog off with my first ever Tumblr post, and my first minilock scene. I just opened their boxes and was sitting at my favorite noodle restaurant at the mall freaking out over them. People were staring my Best friend was amused, awesome times.

I kept “the victim” for a while before I was forced to toss him when I moved.

The shadows of the immense structure stretched over him as he sat still and silent on the bench outside the Church of Dark. Ithamar was on his shoulder close to his neck, crown feathers drawn to a guarding pose. They were getting looks. At least people had the sense to keep their distance, could be due to the aura of murder he was emitting. Might also be the reason behind the looks. Oh well, win some, lose some.

Finally he felt a familiar presence on the other side of the courtyard. Eli sat firmly in place, sure that soon his steely presence would turn him into a gargoyle to join the decorations of the church. But he was also sure she would notice and would not ignore it, not when he was specifically calling for her.

Sally barked. Then she howled. Ban, groggy, sat up in bed. Light poured in through the bedroom window. Sally kept barking but Ban blinked blearily to see what time it was. 11 in the morning? Had he... oh. He must have fallen asleep.

Usually, Ban didn’t leave Sally outside when he was asleep. She must have gone out and wandered around behaving herself long enough for Ban to fall asleep. He sighed and grabbed the phone off the hook as he walked to the front door. Sure enough, Sally stood at the bottom of the big ash tree to the right of the porch barking at a big black cat hissing from a high branch.

“Hey, Mini?” Ban said when she picked up the phone. “Your cat’s here.”

Uncharacteristically, she laughed. Zadie hadn’t planned on looking as miserable as she felt, but after two hours in the Bakehouse, she thought she’d rather go through another night of war again than--

No, that wasn’t true.

Glancing at the brunette, she shrugged. 

“It’s the right thing to do.” Come out, see people. Maybe she was growing soft. Or maybe Ban had just stood at her doorstep and insisted long enough that she’d given up entirely. “Christmastime, and all.”

The ground squished beneath her feet, cold and damp. The moment Rowan woke up, she knew something was wrong. The ritual had built up around the gathering of witches and warlocks in such a way that it was unbelievable to think they’d been killing each other for the past five years. It was almost--hopeful. But the feeling was replaced with a sense of emptiness, a different kind of company. Because Rowan realized she was at the cemetery.

She shivered and fumbled with the zipper of her leather jacket to finally zip it up, stuffing her grey scarf under the layers to guard from the cold. The temperature continued to drop. Regaining her sense of direction, she started walking, figuring she needed to make good time back to the village to make herself useful.

The first person she saw was a witch she knew had been at the circle. So maybe she wasn’t the only one that had been flung out of the ritual? “Hey, uh, Minerva, is it?” Rowe asked her. She chuckled weakly. “Weren’t we just at the square, or am I having a weird dream?”

Preferred to sleep in a location hard rather than soft, and woke after a few hours to stare into the dark. Wondering if he was prepared for what might come next. 

Everything was forgotten when he turned a corner down a narrow musty aisle lined with high shelves. Maddox saw a tiny figure with a stream of dark hair down the back and gravitated there like moving to a light at the end of the tunnel. 

A Locke and a Keyes resided on opposing ends of a social spectrum in the Church of Dark. Lockes and Keyes weren’t made to fit together. He found the end of a long thick wave of black hair and pinched it between long fingers, brushing his thumb over the fanned ends. “Miss Locke. Shall I wait here until you need someone tall to reach a book for you? I’d like to make myself useful.” 

She was awfully tiny. He knew she’d have a comment ready too.
