Thinking about this exchange in "Chapter 58: Old Friend" of Pluto... rant/spoilers below the cut.

I think it's apt for Tenma to consider himself “the only one who can save [Abullah],” as Abullah’s absolute contempt of humanity follows the loss of his children. For their parallel experiences of loss, Tenma may rightly be considered the only one who can “save” Abullah. Yet Tenma’s insistently passive, misanthropic behaviour throughout Pluto raises the question of what he thinks it would mean and take to "save" Abullah, and what the result would look like.

At this point (Chapter 58) in the narrative, Tenma has allowed Abullah to live for years as the world’s most complicated (and therefore dangerous) robot, never attempting to monitor, track, or control him. Instead, he permits Abullah to roam the Earth, guided by a rage that is also Tenma's rage: the rage of someone who has lost everything to the carelessness and violence of other human beings. Abullah's post-death freedom to navigate and 'live' unimpeded on Earth thereby embodies the continuance of Tenma's unchecked grief and rage over his loss of Tobio. This is bolstered by the fact that Abullah (or technically Goji, but I'm not untangling my take on that distinction here) is a material creation of Tenma's in the aftermath of Tobio's death. On a slight tangent - it brings to mind Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, where the Creature, reanimated by Victor, roams the wilderness, driven by an unchecked thirst for vengeance. I've encountered a lot of criticism identifying the Creature and Victor as doppelgängers, and I think a similar identification can be made for Tenma and Abullah: each pair with one driven by a treacherous ambition to create, the other violently subjugated (also racialized) and driven to vengeful destruction.

That said, Abullah's experience of loss does not simply parallel Tenma's loss of Tobio, nor does his character merely embody Tenma's emotional response to losing Tobio. Abullah’s death and revival also re-enact the death and reanimation of Tobio and re-double Tenma’s experience of these events. 

The re-enactment occurs on the basic narrative valence: both Abullah and Tobio die avoidable deaths resulting from the carelessness of others (for Abullah it’s world leaders, big picture, for Tobio the driver of the vehicle, small picture) and experience a sort of re-animation through Tenma's science. 

The re-doubling occurs on both an emotional and symbolic valence. Tenma worked in the Persian government lab, developing the Goji AI for Lord-knows-how-long. It's safe to assume he had little to no human contact in the interim, given that if he was identified or reported to be in Persia at that time, the consequences would have been extreme. Further, Chapter 48 suggests Abullah is one of Tenma’s only points of contact with humanity — if not Tenma's sole point of contact with humanity, the only flesh-and-blood person in his life — for those months to possibly years. That said, when Abullah dies in the Central Asian war, Tenma's primary touchpoint with humanity dies for the second time — the first time being the death of Tobio, who was his only family, son, and entire world. 

The factors of paralleling, re-enactment and re-redoubling prime Tenma to consider Abullah in the above scene as both dead and alive, a victim and avenger. Yet even with the above context laid out, the reader can only guess whether Tenma here perceives Abullah as reflective of Tobio or himself, an amalgamation of them both, or something else entirely. So who exactly does Tenma think he can save?

On one hand, Abullah’s existence embodies and reiterates the “Atom-is-not-Tobio” dilemma. For Tenma, attempting to save Abullah could mean lodging another effort to improve his AI, such that it better resembles the living-Abullah personality and thereby 'rescues' the deceased person. This effort, repeating (with the hope of ameliorating) the unresolved Atom-is-not-Tobio problem, could be read as an exhibition of stubbornness, ego, or repetition compulsion. So saving Abullah could mean the possibility of saving Tobio, or the inevitability of losing Tobio again and again.

At the same time, Abullah raises a mirror to Tenma’s unexpurgated devastation and misanthropy. So it's possible that, for Tenma, saving Abullah means saving Tobio — thus saving Tenma himself from his own grief. 

There is one other option I've considered — the simplest and (in my opinion) the unlikeliest: that Tenma envisions saving Abullah as the carte blanche act of alleviating someone else's suffering, that he considers the effort to alleviate anyone's suffering worthwhile. I honestly don't think this is what Urasawa intends or expects the reader to take away. It would be characteristic of Ochanomizu, sure, but not Tenma. That said, the ambiguous possibility of Tenma recognizing Abullah as a redeemable person seems purposeful. It opens up the text and enables the reader to consider the narrative and characters with compassion and grace. It also opens up what could be the only path which, if taken, would lead to the effective moral “saving” of either man, to the possibility of this redemption, perhaps not in the action but in the aftermath of Pluto.

Okay, I'm officially never joining the Billie Bust Up community... I mean, I'm still interested in the game and all, and I definitely like the characters! I even wanna have Billie and her trio of Lewis and Lilly, and Oscar, make appearances in Chaotic Quintet.

It's just... Holy crap, it turns out Billie and Seve's Adventures ain't the only time they decide to witch hunt fanfiction and the author, obviously-- and when fan content (stories/art/etc) that doesn't actually victimize nor target real people is enough to cause a mobbing session, that's sign enough to not take part in a fandom. I sure hope BBU isn't about to be associated with an "Attempted Suicide Incident," like Steven Universe was... If you're wondering, they considered it "disgusting" that someone paired Billie up with Barnaby this time, and a few other contents of the tale...

I mean, here in the Corn Kidz 64 community, I don't like the fanfictions that have Seve, Alexis and Ally in explicit situations with each other-- especially as they're minors (though Ally's canonical age is debatable); but do I want to see the authors of it get witch hunted and all, let alone do any such thing myself? No, 'cause it's all fiction and doesn't impact the source material at all, and-- again --who is the real person that's being legitimately harmed?! Plus, those stories, like the Billie x Barnaby one, are also properly age-rated on their sites and thus fault cannot be put on the authors over viewers being made uncomfortable and other "consequences" of the content...

It's just... Oy vey, sometimes, you're glad things like CK64 are so niche and obscure 'cause you worry how toxic their fanbases would become with enough certain people...

May I ask why you dislike Achillies? I don't know much about Greek Mythology, so I'm curious! :)

Honestly I don't dislike Achilles per se... It's more like, in the lack of better words, the hypocrisy culture that surrounds him. I think I would be fine with him otherwise, there's nothing wrong about liking characters who're not good people - yet there are so much people who don't seem to like it when you point out that Achilles isn't a good person or god forbid, even like him precisely because of that! It does also feel like there's some purity culture mixed in, truth to be told... Most modern adaptions of his life aren't accurate for a reason, and that's because he doesn't exactly fit in the modern description of a hero. He's a borderline villain protagonist.

I think what makes it especially weird is that pretty much everyone else is free meat. People always give trash to Zeus, Poseidon and Apollo for being horny, people trash Hera for hating Zeus' lovers and bastards, people trash Demeter for being panicked and later sad because her daughter went missing, people trash Aphrodite for trying to kill her pregnant daughter-in-law, etc... And they hate Agamemnon to the Moon and back. Maybe on a good day you can see criticism regarding Odysseys killing Hector and Andromache's toddler or that of Athena was happy about Troy's destruction. But say one true yet bad thing about Achilles as a reason why you don't like him (like that he's a catfisher, kidnapper, rapist, child murderer or that he demanded a human sacrifice beyond the grave) all hell breaks loose. And it's coming from the same people who trash these other characters for doing bad choices... It's just odd to me. It's like they've never heard of the term problematic fave and that they're called problematic precisely because they do problematic things, which means that some people will not like them by design. Having problematic faves is fine, but being all hypocritical when someone doesn't like them because of said problems is weird.

Also I personally find the Trojans much more likeable characters than the Greeks, but that's just me

actor toji would be one of those hot dilf actors that women would always be drooling over, edits of him always popping up on your fyp, the most outta pocket comments underneath all of his insta posts, he would be the number 1 dilf for all the old man fuckers.

toji rarely posts on social media. he’s at that age where he just does not care to post his whole life online, but that only attracts people to him more because he is so mysterious. he would have like 10 million followers and only follow 12 people (including you)

toji would probably be one of those actors that have no variety in their roles, but everybody would still eat it up anyways. toji as an actor would typically play a villain/antagonist or an anti-hero, typically in an action movie/series and he plays them well. toji can embody an intimidating, frightening, intelligent villain very well. he could be cast as one of the most horrendous, horrible villains and be a menace towards the main cast but because he looks like that, he is forgiven.

but there are those rare times toji is casted as a father or father figure and his character would do anything for their daughter and everyone just loses it. he plays the father role well, almost too well. he is so caring, protective and sweet towards the actress playing as his daughter, even behind the scene clips with one another, he is just so gentle and dreamy. the fans cannot handle it!

during interviews, toji can be charming. he cracks jokes and he answers questions honestly, even if they make him look unprofessional. he really does not give a fuck about that, which only makes him even more attractive. he’s a little sleazy sometimes, but that just adds to his lazy effortless appeal.

he just has such a dominant personality and not in a bad way either. like if an interviewer asked a question that made a cast member uncomfortable, he would smoothly change the subject and the mood, making everyone forget about it entirely. also, his stare is really intense…like when the interviewer or a fellow cast member is speaking, he makes sure to look at them and listen really closely, not even realising how intimidating that could be 😭

despite his unprofessional personality and wealthy background, people who work with toji cannot say anything bad about him. he is a great actor with great work ethic and is always respectful to his cast members. and most of all, he is humble. due to his background and accomplishments, other actors on set expect him to be all flashy and all head in the clouds, but toji isn’t like that. toji is very aware and down to earth and he doesn’t see himself as superior because of his wealth. he sees what that power does to some people (his family) and he wants nothing not do with it.

overall, for the most part, toji is a respected actor, with a loyal (albeit crazy) fanbase, he actually enjoys his job and lives a relatively private and quiet life. people barely know anything despite his wealth and fame and prefers to keep it that way.

The shot is an Animation shot showing Grif and Simmons from a chest down view in their Kevlar suits, before they're suiting up and they're just bickering about some dumb bullshit that leads them into a rock, paper, scissors match. Best two out of three. Hands have no gloves so we see their bare hands and they're wearing rings. This is the only time we see this and it's just never mentioned/referred to again. - - Or, ending shot of S19 is just, everything is said and done... theirs a base or some other place they're at. A BioWare Guide on How to Murder a Fanbase

I have been a Dragon Age super-fan for almost fourteen years, now. I have played every game, with every DLC. I have read every novel, lore book, and every comic — yes, even the terrible ones that are better off forgotten. I have seen the anime film, the animated series, and the web mini-series. I have enjoyed all of these pieces of the franchise over and over, more times than I can count. So, make no mistake: the negativity you’re about to hear comes from a place of love for this fantasy world, developed by many creative people over the years. I would love nothing more than to see the resurrection of passion in the Dragon Age fandom again. But the unfortunate truth is, that resurrection is only needed because BioWare took the fandom out back and shot it in the first place.

In December 2018, three years after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Trespasser epilogue DLC, BioWare first announced the then-untitled next Dragon Age game with a teaser trailer. At this point, most fans were anticipating this would mean within the next couple years, we would see the game. This assumption was based on the fact that Dragon Age: Inquisition was first announced in 2012, and released in 2014, with an extra year of development added last minute.

There have been dribbles of extra content since then, adding to the franchise. This was enough to keep some fans still breathing and interested. 2020’s Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights was a lovely anthology. 2020’s Dragon Age: Blue Wraith and 2021’s Dark Fortress were wonderful comics tying up the story started in Knight Errant. And 2022’s Dragon Age: Absolution was a well-animated series with an interesting cast of characters and story. But all these still left the fandom with a major question: What was going on with the next game? It was untypical of BioWare to be so secretive, in comparison to how they handled sharing information of the past games in the franchise. The only form of updates fans still have to go on is mostly just concept art and short stories, hinting that something must be in production. But why was the wait so long?

In 2015, the first version of the next Dragon Age began with a clear vision, clear scope of practice, and a reportedly happy developer team. Most gloriously in my book, there was no multi-player… but this did not align with the Electronic Arts typical money-mad schemes. EA’s push for “games as a service” meant they wanted to monetize all their games as much as possible, and therefore, they wanted them to be a live service — as Anthem demonstrated, that meant sacrificing things that are staples of good RPGs, like narrative and character choice. So in 2017, version one of the next Dragon Age was scrapped and replaced. This new version would have, in total or to at least some degree, an online portion of play.

There is one part of Schreier’s article, “The Past and Present of Dragon Age 4,” that really sticks out to me, regarding this:

“One person close to the game told me this week that Morrison’s critical path, or main story, would be designed for single-player and that goal of the multiplayer elements would be to keep people engaged so that they would actually stick with post-launch content.”

The idea of splitting up components of a game into single-player and multi-player is a terrible idea, because it means that there would be a large bulk of content only accessible through online gaming; something many fans, like myself, are repulsed by. Even if I did enjoy it, I spent most of my life growing up with either no internet or shoddy internet incapable of playing online games. I know many rural people who are still in that position, losing more and more of their favourite gaming pastimes because they are locked out of the ability to play them. It is a disservice to hide content behind a wall like this, especially in a world that is so lore-heavy like Dragon Age. The news of multi-player in Dragon Age understandably upset many, and this is when I first noticed a large drop off in excitement over the next game.

However, in 2021, the failure of Anthem (multi-player) and success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (single-player) led the executives at EA to bend to the wishes of BioWare leadership and allow them to go back to the drawing board yet again on the next Dragon Age. This meant removing all multi-player content!

While I am very happy that there will reportedly be no multi-player in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, I can’t help but feel bitter and a little disgusted over the ridiculous development time spent on something no one but EA wanted in the first place. If it weren’t for this foolishness, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be in our hands right now. Instead, it’s been in development hell for nearly nine years and counting. Nine years is a long time to expect fans to carry a torch for you through radio silence, but it’s no wonder BioWare has shared barely anything about the next game; it’s been in flux for so long, they likely haven’t had anything concrete to show.

BioWare hurt its reputation even more when the news broke that the studio very suddenly laid off 50 people who were working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. This is pretty damning on its own, but BioWare took it a step further. Former developer Jon Renish shared a statement revealing that the studio was only willing to offer laid-off employees two weeks of severance per year of service, and denied health benefits. The denial of health benefits in particular is a pretty wild move for a studio with a reputation for “stress casualties”. The latest news on this is that BioWare has still so far refused to negotiate better severance packages, leading to a lawsuit. The lawsuit originally had 15 former employees, but this dropped due to the fear of not being able to afford to pay their bills. So now, while EA sits on $400 million net income, the laid-off employees are struggling to buy holiday presents for their children. These horrid business practices are not to be ignored when accounting for a lack of faith in a studio. What kind of monsters reward workers who make your games special with vaguely reasoned lay-offs?

The latest news on the Dragon Age: Dreadwolf front from BioWare came early this month, December 2023, with a trailer… announcing a trailer that will come next summer… that will announce the release of the game. Supposedly. Maybe. We’ll see. But by this time, BioWare is something of a laughing stock of their own fandom. Reactions to the video released with a pretty map graphic and a few rendered locations were, from what I personally observed, mostly sardonic in nature. People have commented on the vapourware nature of the game, and like all vapourware, that leads to disintegrating trust.

Despite all this, people like Mary Kirby, (one of the veteran Dragon Age writers who was a victim of the layoffs,) said, “it’s bittersweet that Dreadwolf is my last DA game, but I still hope you all love it as much as I do,” encouraging fans to still support the game when it eventually is released. There's a scene towards the end of the movie where Abby is hiding from foxy and runs to hide behind some arcade games -> reference to the sequence where Foxy is chasing Charlie in the silver eyes (lighting is almost one on one too)

The animatronics realize they're getting manipulated by afton /spring bonnie when Abby shows them the truth through a drawing depicting spring bonnie's true nature -> reference to Carlton showing the dead children that spring bonnie / afton is their enemy through drawing spring bonnie as their killer

A/N: After 3000 years of inactivity, I decided to be productive 🥹🥹🫶🫶

From vlogs, to quick instagram live and to dance practices, you were always there with team Bebe. People are becoming curious as to who you are, why you're so close to the team, especially with Bada.

"Y/N-unnie! Say hi!" Kyma calls out to you as you enter the studio, bringing them food. You looked at her and the camera she was holding, you realized the girls are doing a mini vlog.

"Hi~!" you waved at the camera and gave them their food. You volunteered to buy them food since they were busy practicing for something and you figured you'd let them relax, especially Bada. You're in a secret relationship with her but you're keeping it as low profile as possible since you didn't want to put unnecessary pressure on Bada considering her career is taking off. You're doing fine on your own, you have a thriving career but far from the spotlight so no one really knows you that much except a few people.

"Wahhh Y/N-unnie is really a boyfriend material if she was a guy.." you heard Cheche say and you could only shake her head in amusement.

"Too bad, I don't have a dingdong." you shot back and the girls laughed. You looked at Bada and nudged her, giving her a bottle of her favorite drink.

"How's my favorite girl doing?" you whisper to her, smiling when you see her cheek turning red from your words.

"I'm nervous, jagiya.. What if we're not ready for the competition? I don't want the girls to be discouraged if we end up failing.." you could see Bada's worries and you gently stroked her hair. When you noticed the camera wasn't pointed near you and Bada's spot, you kissed the top of her head and pulled her in for a hug.

"You'll do great, yeah? I'm sure you and the girls will crush the competition. You're born for this, jagiya. And I'll be there with you every step of the way. You don't have to face this alone, you got me and the team." you reassured her and gave her a quick kiss before both of you interacted with the girls and wreaked chaos in their little vlog.

Schedules have been hectic but you kept your promise to Bada. You were there with them all throughout the competition since you wanted to support your girlfriend and her team after all. You really didn't think anything of it but Bada's and Team Bebe's growing fanbase are growing really curious about you. It was all fun and games until people started flooding your socials, the comments on team Bebe's vlogs and quick instagram live are also flooded with questions as to who you are as well.

"Should we tell them?" Bada asked one time as you both sat together while they were taking a break from filming. You looked at her and gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

"You know that I don't mind, right? I'm just worried about you.. I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on you as you're already going through a lot." Bada just smiles and rests her head on your shoulder.

"I want to. I want to tell everyone that I have the best girlfriend.." She says and you chuckle, wrapping your arm around her waist.

"Best girlfriend because I let you steal all my clothes to look cool on the show?" You joked and she laughed before sitting up, grabbing her phone and snapping some pictures together. She even kissed your cheek on one pic before she posted them on her Instagram account, tagging your account as well. She captioned it simply with 'My Girl 🩵🩵'. It was simple yet it answered most people's questions regarding your identity and why you're so close with the team and to Bada.

Some people didn't like the announcement but some also loved the relationship you have with Bada. Some fans are even saying that they wanted a girlfriend like you. Hot, supportive and caring.

"I love you, and thank you for being here for me and the girls." Bada says and you just held her in your arms.

"I love you too. I'll always be here to support and care for you no matter what happens. Win or lose." You smile and kiss her forehead. Unbeknownst to you, the sweet interaction was caught on camera and has been posted online. People have divided opinions regarding your relationship with Bada but you could hardly care.
