-at the beginning of January I really wanted to start reading Boy Parts by Eliza Clark, but soon afterwards I found out an internet booktube friend died suddenly, so I was a little out of it last month. Boy Parts was actually on her 2024 tbr, so I definitely want to get to it soon when the spur strikes again. 📷 -honestly, since finding out about her death, though it has taken me some time, I'm even more determined to get to books and movies I've been wanting to read and to watch for years! things I've put off because of high expectations or whatever. things I think will be new all-time favs, 5/5 stars, etc. I'm going to read them! and one of those is A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers 🍖🍇 -I'm now realizing, when you think about it, certain Jean Rollin films could probably be categorized here 🧛🏼‍♀️

didn't address this when it popped up because I had to take a step back from how genuinely vile the things people were saying about my friend. but.

internet slap-fighting. I can't even begin with how callous that description is when one side is telling you that you need to place the safety of minors above your ego, and the other side has:

- mocked and invalidated my friend's serious trauma

- made jokes about grooming their very young siblings and nieces/nephews with tickling (haha isn't that absurd?? no. no it's not. that's actually an extremely common way for sexual abuse to start and anyone joking about that is utterly repulsive).

- obsessively posted about him and harassed him in his inbox calling him a pedophile

all for wanting adults to leave children online alone and put up appropriate safeguards against minor interaction.

do not take this post as a suggestion to post more about my friend, or send them asks, or anything like that. they are done with this shit. if you want to get mad, get mad at me.

Also, I find it really amusing that you published an ask that you could easily smack down after I sent it in, but not mine, which I will post in full:

And I conclude this can only be because you're irresponsible. Because you're egocentric. Because you can only think of the mean words other people are calling you instead of the actual things they are telling you, from their perspectives as older adults, as people with this exact kind of trauma, and as people versed in sex education and CSA prevention. Because you care more about whether your blog is labelled kinky or whether people say that you are enabling groomers as opposed to the literal ongoing grooming problem in this community, that happens in large part because adults and minors are allowed to freely mingle in this kink space.

No one, aside from an insular little community on Tumblr who have shamed themselves so far into a corner that they are utterly in denial of what they are, thinks this isn't a kink community. Especially not the parents of the children who are trying to participate in it, not knowing the risk of doing this online with total strangers. Don't twist my words. This isn't about sex. This is about activities which require the same level of trust, intimacy, active negotiation, and respect of bodily autonomy as every other kink. That's why it's a kink, even if there's no sex, no bondage. If you are actively fantasizing about it, roleplaying, teasing online, planning out or even performing "sessions", that is engaging in kink.

I'm going to go into more intense discussion of the nature of sexual abuse, especially CSA and predation underneath the cut. Don't read if you find this triggering. Instead, stop here, and think past how mean my words are and how angry I sound. I have no personal vendetta against you as a human being. I am angry because of the way my friend has been treated, and because of the danger you are putting people in by continuing to act flippant about this subject. Take responsibility. Do better.

CSA and SA is about more than just direct sexual touching. It's about asserting control over another person's body that violates their autonomy and consent. It is having your sense of intimacy twisted and manipulated in a way that results in being unable to trust others not to hurt you, making you feel unlovable and disgusting, making you afraid of intimacy for fear of violation again.

And while adults in this community have definitely blatantly sexually interacted with minors they accessed through "SFW" tickle spaces, i.e yourgigglebugmaya/giggly-girl-maya (see this post below:)

That's not even necessary to traumatize someone. It can be by being pushy about roleplay scenarios, inappropriate questions about tickle spots and favorite techniques, asking for "SFW" pictures, verbal teasing, and so onwards. It's the kind of thing that makes you feel disgusting in your own skin for years afterwards and you don't even know why because there was nothing outright sexual about it.

Do you understand what I mean about how easy it is for a minor to be groomed on here? People as young as 13, 14, 15 who believe that everyone else is so well intentioned and innocent about tickling, that strangers cannot lie about their age and make a kidcore blog to tease "other" minors? That openly talk about which parts of their body they like to have touched, on their pinned posts? That use kink terminology like lee, ler and most importantly switch, because yes, those are BDSM terms that originated from the BDSM community. That talk about very intense scenarios involving tickling?

Why are you encouraging this? Why are any of you people encouraging this? This genuinely looks insane and beyond alarming to me from an adult's perspective, from an educator's perspective. And it's not about 'slap fighting' or internet brownie points or because I want to unnecessarily sexualize everything. The #1 priority in kink communities is safety, and I genuinely care about these minors' safety, which is why I believe they shouldn't be participating in this community.

If you refuse to see this, then, well, I don't really know what to say. But if you can't see the harm you're doing by encouraging this behavior, then you're not responsible enough to be part of this community either.

And that's a wrap. I've blocked the person in question because of continued public Internet slapfighting, which does not aid the situation.

Additionally, my point keeps getting misinterpreted and my words have also been twisted.

And the discussion has shifted to grooming when it was ORIGINALLY about people's platonic and SFW blogs being labeled as kink blogs, which is the whole reason I wanted to speak up.
