All I Have Left ch1/?
Summary: you were in love with Randy, you had a life plan with him. But after his death, you cut out everyone in your life. It’s not until you take custody of his niece and nephew that you begin to live life again.
An: this is going to be platonic/motherly!reader to the twins. The idea has been bounced around my head for a couple of days, so I wanted to try it out
It’s not overly long, but if I continued with the idea it would have been way to long. So I may write a part two

“I think it will be a girl.”
You glanced up at Randy when you heard his words. The two of you were in the middle of a movie night in his dorm room, you tucked into his side while his arm was wrapped around you. He wasn’t even looking at you, making you wonder if you were hearing things.
“What?”
“Our first kid, I think she’ll be a girl.” He further explained, looking down at you. The two of you had been talking the night before about life after college. You were high school sweethearts, and had talked about it plenty of times. He was going to major in film, and you psychology. You would live in Hollywood while starting your carriers, and once ready for a family you’d move to a close by suburb. A plan you had started making the summer before senior year. And last night, you’d talked about kids.
“You think so?”
“Absolutely,” he confirmed.
“What makes you so sure?” You asked while giggling slightly.
“A dad just knows,” he winked.
“Well, so does a mom and I think it will be a boy. Besides, it’s not like you’re currently a dad.” You poked his chest lightly, making him chuckle.
“I’d love to have a son, and I’d love him,” he reached down to grab your left hand and place a kiss on the engagement ring on your finger. “But I’ll get my little girl. Don’t care how many times I have to fuck you.”
“Wow, so noble,” you teased as he pulled you to straddle his lap. “What would you name her?” He had clearly put thought into this, and you wanted to know how far his mind had gotten.
“Mindy.”
—•—•—•—•—•—•—•
That night was only a week before Randy was killed, and every night after you wished you were dead yourself. Everything made you angry. Seeing Sidney or Dewey made you angry, and even thinking about Gale and her stupid book made you angry. Seeing the school made you angry, and the police made you angry.
So you dropped out of school. You cut people off, distanced yourself, and moved back to Woodsboro. You only went to town when you had to, and worked at home in any way you could. You didn’t need a tone of money, just enough to live in your small house alone. Sidney had tried to reach out a few times, but eventually got the hint that you didn’t want to see her. The only person you were slightly civil with was Randy’s sister, Martha.
She worked at one of the stores you went to often, and you just couldn’t bring yourself to hate the women. You’d known her for years, being friends with Randy for years before going out. So when you saw her at the store, you said hi. If she asked you to come over for a drink or dinner once in a while, you said yes. And when she got pregnant, you promised to be as involved with the kids life as she needed.
“Please…” Chad whined, giving you his best puppy eyes. You had to hand it to the seven year old, he was pretty good at it.
“No, your mom said you’ve been wearing them for the past three nights. They need washed,” you attempted to reason with the boy. Which didn’t work in the slightest.
“Mom said she ‘gave up on that fight’” Mindy spoke up. She had already changed into her pjs, quickly complying when you promised a treat during the movie. Martha and her husband were out for the night, and you had offered to watch your niece and nephew (technically godchildren but as Martha said ‘you would have become their aunt’).
“Enough,” you scolded her before turning back to Chad. “I know for a fact you have more then one pair of train pjs. Get one of your others.” You were at a standstill, a staring contest with a seven year old. You were pointing towards the dresser, and you were determined to win this fight.
“Fineeeeee,” he stretched the word before walking towards the dresser. “But can you wash them for tomorrow night?”
You agreed, knowing Martha would appreciate the clothes at least being clean. You helped the two kids get ready for bed before sending them down stairs to pick a movie. You grabbed some more of their clothes, starting a load of laundry. The sound of arguing drew you downstairs, but you stoped at the fire place. A small shrine that had been set up for Randy. You still didn’t know how to feel about it. Every time you saw a photo of him it reminded you of finding him in that van, but at the same time it reminded you of whatever goofy memory surrounded the photo.
You were pulled from your thoughts again when the arguing got louder. You were sure you knew what it was about. Mindy was attempting to get Chad to agree to whatever movie she wanted to watch. He mate as of splitting it up you grabbed the two bags of candy, one of each of their favorite, and walked into the room to flop onto the couch. This caught both of their attention.
“What are you doing?” Mindy was practically glaring at you, and you had to do your best to hold in your laugh.
“Well, i was going to give you guys this for during the movie, but you are busy arguing so I figured I’d eat it myself.” A horrified look crossed their faces at your words, and it took minutes for them to chose a movie and to climb onto the couch with you. They each stole their respected candy, giggling as though they had tricked you into handing it over.
It was almost 2 in the morning when you woke up to the sound of the house phone ringing. Chad and Mindy were up in bed, and you must have fallen asleep while waiting for their parents. You blindly reached over to grab the phone, pulling it to your ear.
“Hello?”
“Is this the Meeks-Martin household?”
“Ya, can I take a message?” You yawned a bit through your sentence, trying to wake up a bit more.
“Y/n? Its Dewey.” You sighed lightly at the man’s words. You did your best to be civil with the man, it wasn’t his fault that your worst memories in life included him.
“What can I do for You officer Riley?” You questioned.
“I um, I’m calling for Woodsboro memorial Hospital. I have some bad news.” You quickly sat up, suddenly not so tired. “Joel and Martha Meeks-Martin were in a car accident. They um- they were dead before getting to the hospital.”
“W-what?” You whispered, unsure of what else to say. Your entire body felt numb, the same way you had felt when sitting at the police station after Randy. A feeling that made everything feel fake, like in a dream.
“I’m so sorry y/n,” Dewey’s voice practically whispered through the phone. “But we need you to come down and identify the body’s, as well as decide what will happen with the kids.”
You squeezed your eyes shut, willing tears not to fall. What felt like your only two friends left were gone, and you had to tell their kids what had happened.
“Y/n? Are you ok-“
“Do you need me tonight or can it wait until morning?” You cut him off.
“Tomorrow is Fine. Listen, if you need anything at all-“
“I’ll see you then Dewey.” You quickly hung up the phone, setting it on the couch next to you. You let your head fall to your hands, a small sob being let out. You would cry tonight, morn your friends tonight, and tomorrow you would be whatever Mindy and Chad needed you to be.

“Pick up the pace guys!” You called up the stairs, pouring yourself a mug of coffee. You could hear the twins moving around upstairs, every so often one of them yelling at the other.
“Mindy! Knock it off!” The two walked into the kitchen, Mindy holding Chads phone in her own hand.
“This is so cheesy! Have you and Liv every had a normal conversation?!”
“Mindy, give the phone back,” you scolded while taking a drink of the coffee.
“It’s like Reading a bad romance novel!” She whined as Chad yanked his phone away from her.
“Guys, do we have to do this every morning?” You questioned as the two of them started getting breakfast.
“Maybe if Mindy learns to grow up.” Chad mumbled, earning a glare from you. He quickly shut up, taking a bite of the bagel he’d been making.
“I have some errands to run after work, so I can’t pick you up after school. I’ll be home by 5 for dinner though.” You told the two while sitting at the table.
“Actually,” Chad spoke up. “Would it be ok for us to run by the hospital after school?”
You raised an eyebrow at his words.
“Amber texted, someone broke into Tara’s house two nights ago.” Mindy cut in.
“Is She ok?” You had known Tara’s mother in school, and Tara had been friends with Chad and Mindy for years so you knew the girl relatively well.
“I mean, she’s in the hospital but Amber didn’t have much information besides that.” Mindy explained to you.
“So, would it be ok?”
You thought it over for a moment before nodding at the two. “Ya, but don’t be to long. And you know the drill, text when you leave the school-“
“And when we get to the hospital” Mindy cut you off.
“And when we leave the hospital,” Chad continued.
“And when we get home,” Mindy finished. While the two may not follow every rule you lay out for them, they were relatively good at following this one. And understanding why it existed.
“Good, now come on. You’ll be late to school.”
————————
“How long is it going to take that lady to learn how to tell when your lying?” You attempted to ignore Randy, who wasn’t really there, as you walked out of your therapist office. You went every Friday after adopting Mindy and Chad.
“I mean, that you talked to Sidney or that you aren’t seeing things that aren’t there-“
“I didn’t lie about that. She asked if I was seeing him, and I’m not.” You finally said as you climbed into the car. You glanced in the mirror, expecting him to be sitting in the back where he normally did. When he wasn’t there you frowned, but practically jumped out of your seat when you caught a glimpse of him in the corner of your eye.
Randy looked exactly like he had that day 24 years ago. He wore the same blue and white button up and green jacket as the day he was killed, the clothes having holes from where the knife was stabbed into him and completely caked in dried blood. It took you a long time to get used to seeing him like this, why couldn’t you have a mental break where you saw the man you loved at his best instead of after he died?
“We both know what she meant when she asks ‘are you seeing him at all?’ If she knew you were seeing your dead boyfriend then maybe she would be more concerned.”
Your hand automatically went to your ring finger with the intent of messing with the ring Randy had given you, instead you found your finger bare. A few months back someone had broken into the house, and while they had stolen a few random things, they had taken a tone of your/Randy’s stuff. Including the ring. The one time you decided to not wear it out of fear of losing it you actually did lose it forever. It was after that that Randy started calling himself your boyfriend instead of fiancé.
“Shouldn’t you be encouraging me to lie? You are just a delusion after all.” You spoke while pulling out of the parking lot. You had tinted windows, so you didn’t have to worry about people seeing you talk to ‘no one.’
“I’m not allowed to want you to be mentally well?”
“The only reason you do is because I want you to care for me, you are a trauma response.”
“Maybe, but you still talk to me everyday.” He had a point there, you didn’t really know anyone in town. Sure, you went to school with many of them and a few you knew because of Chad and Mindy bringing friends with their kids, but you didn’t know them. You weren’t going to go out for drinks or hang out on your own.
You chose to be silent the rest of the ride to the store so you could get some stuff for dinner. Your ringer on your phone so you would hear if Mindy or Chad needed anything.
Randy was quiet as well, not saying anything in the car. When you finally got to the story he quietly followed behind you, making comments ever so often.
“Chad wanted bagels.”
You didn’t need much, so the actual shopping was done quickly. You were loading the groceries I go the car when a voice called out.
“Y/n!”
You turned to see Judy Hicks walking towards you. She was still in her uniform for the day, and you gave her your best fake smile. You knew her fairly well due to her son, Wes, being friends with Chad and Mindy.
“Officer Hicks, how are you?” You did your best to greet.
“Good job! You almost sounded like you care!” Randy gave a sarcastic thumbs up from behind Judy.
“Not great. Currently looking into the break in at the Carpenter house. Poor Tara, I can’t imagine what it felt like to be all alone like that.”
“I heard, Mindy and Chad were telling me about it this morning.” You didn’t not like Judy, but you never really talked to anyone longer then necessary.
“I’m surprised you let the kids go visit Tara.” Her words made you stop for a moment, frowning.
“I’m sorry?”
“I mean, considering what time of year it is and what Tara told us I would think you would have told the kids to stay as far away as possible-“
“What did Tara tell you?”
Judy’s face fell slightly as she realized you didn’t know what she was taking about. “Oh I- Wes knew and I assumed Chad and Mindy would have heard and told you.”
“That can’t be good,” Randy mumbled.
“Told me what?”
“The person who broke in had the… mask.” Judy waited for a response, you knew she was expecting some sort of big reaction. Instead you slid the last bag in the cara d closed the door.
“Excuse me, I have to get going.”
“I’m really sorry that you didn’t know-“
“It was Good Talking to you,” you cut her off and walking over to the drivers side door.
“Right! Um, good Talking to you too!”
You quickly closed the door once in the car, taking a deep breath. “You’re shaking.”
“No shit Randy!” You snapped, trying to calm yourself down. Your mind was racing on what to do, the last time someone put that damn mask on the kids parents were alive and all out of town. But this time they went to visit the victim in the hospital.
“Check that friend App thing.”
You nodded slightly, pulling your phone out with shaking hand. Chad had begged you to download this, claiming it would let you check up on him and Mandy. The whole time he was helping you set it up Mindy was making fun of him for being the only kid who would happily let their parent on the app.
You quickly clicked through, finding Chad’s gps at the house. Normally you’d be pissed that they didn’t text like you told them too, but right now you were just worried about getting home.
“We need to leave for a bit.” You mumbled, mind moving a thousand miles an hour as you drove.
“What if they follow?”
“We know why they went after Tara, and I’m not going to be apart of another movie crazed fan killing. And my kids aren’t either.”
You were arguing with yourself, you knew that. Anything critical that came out of Randy’s mouth were your own worries, but it was easier to be mad at the person who wasn’t really there.
When you finally pulled into the driveway, two cars made your heart drop. One you didn’t recognize, but the other? Nothing good in your life had happened when the owner of that car arrived.
You pulled into the driveway, and got out while slamming the door shut. Randy was no where to be seen. You couldn’t get to the door fast enough, practically ripping the door open.
You were able to see the group sitting in the living room, and they all turned to look at you. Mindy and Chad were both there, as was Dewey Riley and Sam Carpenter, Tara’s sister. The was another man that you didn’t recognize as well.
“Mom-“
“Get out.” You didn’t look at either of your kids, instead looking at the other three. “Get out of my house.”
“Y/n, I’m really sorry for bothering you but we need your help-“
“I wasn’t joking. Get out of my house.” You cut Sam off, pointing to the door.
“Y/n, calm down.” Dewey stood up to stand behind Sam.
“No offense, but every time you get involved in my life shit gets awful. And you,” you turn to look at Sam. “I know exactly who you are, who your dad was, and as of right now I don’t want you around my kids.”
“Wait- you knew?” Sam looked shocked at your words.
“I was the only person you dad told that he slept with your mom, and she told me when she was pregnant. She wanted my advice on what to do,” You explained. “And i told her to leave me alone and that o didn’t want anything to do with her pregnancy.” Sam looked slightly hurt at your words.
“Mom,” Mindy stood up to get your attention. “They Just came here for some help-“
“I don’t care Mindy. If Dewey wants to help then good for him, but I won’t.” You looked back to the three. “So I’ll say this once. Leave my kids out of it, and do not come back here.”
“Wouldn’t you have liked help back then?” Dewey asked, making you glare at him.
“I would have, instead I got an officer who could barely walk and a journalist who profits off our pain.”
“Ouch…” he mumbled.
“Maybe we should go…” The man spoke up for the first time since you got there, grabbing Sams hand.
“I agree.” You mumbled, arms over your chest. Sam nodded, practically dragging the guy out of the house.
“I’ll let you know if something happens.” Dewey mumbled before walking past.
“Please don’t.” You closed the door behind them.
“That was Kinda rude.” Chads voice made you turn to the two teens.
“I’m not in the best mood.” You snapped. “And im going to make this very clear right now. Neither of you are to get involved, at all. I’m finding someone where to stay and we are leaving town tomorrow.”
“We can’t just abandon Tara,” Mindy argued.
“I’m not putting you in danger just because she’s your friend. You haven’t dealt with this before, and you never will if o have anything to say about it. Understood?” You stared at them waiting for a response.
“Find.”
“Whatever.”
“Thank you.” You mumbled, taking a deep breath. “I’m going to go grab the groceries.”
You walked towards the door, but movement down the hall caught your eye. When you turned to look, you thought you saw someone in a white shirt, but no one was there.
“Is anyone else at the house?”
“No!” Chad called out. “Why?”
“No reason…”

“Randy!” You screamed, slamming your hands on the door of the news van repeatedly. You could hear his yelling, feel the van moving as whoever killed him. “Randy!”
Tears were streaming down your face as you yanked on the door. You’d never felt this helpless, not even two years ago when Billy shot Randy or when you were bleeding out while Sidney fought billy and Stu. Your screaming had gotten people’s attention, and soon the movement stoped.
You didn’t know where Gale or Dewey were, and when the doors unlocked you didn’t even think to try and stop the person from escaping. Instead, you yanked the door open, a scream leaving your mouth at the sight. Randy was laying on the ground, blood soaked through his clothing, his eyes completely empty.
“No! No, no, no, no, baby, Randy.” You collapsed next to him, pulling his head to your lap. His blood was stuck and warm, your own body being covered in it, and he wasn’t breathing. “Please, baby, wake up. I need you to wake up!” You begged, sobbing as you held his head to your chest the best you could.
It felt like hours, and at the same time seconds, before two pairs of hands were gripping you and pulling you away.
“No! Please! Randy, please!” You fought against the arms until one pair pulled you to their chest.
“Deep breaths, It’s ok.”
Your eyes shot open at the voice, making you look up. Mickey. Suddenly, you weren’t outside. Instead, you were standing in the theater, Mickey standing in front of you, a bullet wound in his head.
“What’s wrong baby?” He gave you a look of fake sympathy, making you walk backwards until you hit someone else. You spun around, making eye contact with Mrs. Loomis. She had stab wounds all over, blood leaking from them, but she was standing just find.
“How do you think randy would feel, knowing you stabbed me 17 times?” You looked down, seeing the bloody knife in your hands. “People already think you had something to do with Woodsboro, and now you slaughtered me. Even Sidney didn’t do that.”
“Shut up!” You begged, hand wrapping around the knife tighter. “Please, shut up.”
“I wonder,” Mickey walked up from behind you to speak in your ear. “What it would take to truly make you a killer?”
“No…”
“Yes.” Mrs. Loomis spoke, taking the knife from your hand and stabbing it into your stomach.
•
“Y/n!”
You sat up quickly, a hand shooting down to where you had just been ‘stabbed’. Your eyes frantically searched the room around you, trying to remember where you were.
“Y/n?”
You looked to your left to see Chad standing next to the bed. He looked nervous, waking you up a bit more.
“Chad?” You reached a hand up to whip away the few tears that had gathered on your face. “Are you ok?”
“I got up for some water, but I heard you- you were screaming.” The boy mumbled. Your eyes slid closed for a moment, cursing yourself for the dream. You may not actually be able to control it, but you felt bad for worrying him.
“It um, was just a bad dream.” You explained, rubbing a hand over your face. Chad didn’t say anything for a moment, just watching you before quickly walking out of the room.
The suddenness of it shocked you, which in turn made you get up to follow him. You followed him into the kitchen to see him getting two glasses of water, bringing one over to where you had sat down at the bar.
You took it, raising an eyebrow at him. “You always gave me and Mindy one when we had nightmares.” He attempted to explain.
You nodded, pulling him to your side. “Thank you Bub.”
“Do you want to talk about it? Your dream?”
You sucked in a breath at his words. You’d never actually talked to the kids about what had happened to you in your life, and you had no idea how much they really knew about that kind of stuff. Mindy had recently asked about seeing the newest Stab movie, in which you immediately said no. The reasoning you gave being she was to young.
“You know, how I was going to marry your uncle Randy?” He nodded.
“Well, I was dreaming about when he passed.”
“When he was killed?” You flinched slightly at his forwardness, Chad noticed, his face falling slightly. “I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said that-“
“It’s ok, It’s ok,” You quickly calmed the boy. “But yes, i was dreaming about that.”
“What was he like? Uncle Randy?”
“He was, sweet and caring. He was always there for me, and he always made me laugh.” A smile came to your face as you thought about your late fiancé. “One time, I got sick at college and he skipped all of his classes just to stay with me and make sure I was ok. He would have loved you and your sister.” You whispered the last part, imagining how Randy would have interacted with the two kids.
“Do you feel better?”
You pulled the boy into your arms fully, hugging him. “I do, thank you Bub.” He hugged you back. “Ok, come on. It’s 2:30, you need to go back to bed.”
You put both of your cups in the sink before leading him upstairs to his room. While he was to old for you to really tuck him into bed anymore, you did pull his blanket back so he could get into bed.
“Good night Chad.”
“Night mom.” You couldn’t help but smile at his words. While both kids had called you that a couple of times over the last few years, recently they had started to call you that. And you couldn’t help but view them as your own kids.
You ran a hand over his head lightly before leaving the room and closing the door. You glanced into Mindys room to check on her before going back into your own room to lay down.
You played with the ring on your finger while laying there. “They are so much like you,” You spoke quietly. “You would have loved them so much.” You rolled to your side pretending that randy was there next to you. “I love you.”

Idea for All I Have Left. Maybe a chapter dedicated to old memories of y/n and different characters. I’d like to do one specifically for Dewey and her, but I could also do Tatum, Sidney, Stu, and Billy.
