Having some random bullshit thoughts from ages long ago, pop into your head is horrid. Makes me wonder, do I really need to be remembering this? Why did i happen to remember this crap when dealing with nothing related in anyway or form to the said subject. And what sucks even more is that one thought, suddenly opens the flood gates to all the other crappy memories that I have hidden away. 13 Austin nonprofits chosen to participate in inaugural Inclusion Assessment

This summer, 13 Austin nonprofit organizations will participate in The New Philanthropists’s first Nonprofit Inclusion Assessment. We’re excited to partner with Kazique Prince, PhD, of Jelani Consulting on this project. 

American Youthworks Austin Emerging Arts Leaders Big Medium CASA of Travis County Farmshare Austin Hospice Austin Impact Austin Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas MINDPOP Parents in Partnering Rude Mechanicals Urban Roots Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center

These participating nonprofits have at least 70% of their current board members participating in the Intercultural Development Inventory, which will prompt them to consider their individual challenges and goals for working with people from other cultures and nationalities. Throughout the month of August, these participants, which make up more than 90 current board members and executive directors, will complete the IDI, then we’ll gather them at the end of the month to review their responses and share insights. 

For The New Philanthropists, this assessment marks a major step toward our work assessing and preparing boards for diversity. We believe increasing the diversity is a major change to most boards, therefore it’s imperative that we first gauge the readiness of each board as a group to help them determine their next steps. 

As we continue to research and assess current board needs in Austin, we’ll share our findings with you.
