The thing about Demons (2009) is that at first glance it's about exhausted older man Rupert Galvin desperately trying to herd, control, and keep alive three out of control young adults. But then you keep watching and it's actually about exhausted older woman Mina Harker desperately trying to herd, control, and keep alive two literal young adults and one overgrown and overarmed teenager, with all the exhausted worn-thin patience of a primary school teacher two more bad days away from either packing it all in and retiring to Gibraltar, or finally snapping and going on a murder spree.

One thing about the monster fighting team in Demons (2009) is that they're all very horny and yet none of them fuck. They're all desperate for it and none of them are getting it. This really adds to the dynamic I think.

Sometimes a family can be a middle aged alcoholic, a blind vampire, an angsty teenage boy, an annoying (affectionate) young woman who never read Dracula, and their shared love of unnecessary dramatics and unbelievable violence.

Okay so like. Logically I know Rupert/Mina is the Demons (2009) ship that makes the most sense. And on my first watch through I was absolutely obsessed with it. And I still love the idea of it so so much. But unfortunately I have been driven insane by watching it about 40 times without having anyone to really talk about it with and how I am possessed by Mina/Ruby and Rupert/Ruby brainworms. When I lie in bed at night it's sexy Mina/Ruby scenarios or angsty Ruby/Rupert scenarios I imagine until I fall asleep. It's incurable I'm afraid.

Crying because I love babyfic and I love Demons (2009) but I know in my heart Rupert, Ruby, and Luke would all be absolutely awful parents, but if any of them went to Mina for help she'd be like "been there, done that, accidentally turned my own son into a literal monster. you're on your own"
