Kich der baad hum pohonche, aur khoob baatein kari. mera phone aa rhaa tha aur mujhse woh swipe up nahi ho raha tha, woh phoen baje jaa raha aur main usse uthaane ki koshish kar rahi thi, maine uski taraf dekha aur ohir phone ki aur hum donon khoob zor se hasne lage. phone utha liya baad main vaise maine. uske 2nd floor par itni achhi hawa chal rahi thi. aur humne kich pictures khinchi. Uske saath achha lag raha tha. Shaant lag raha tha. Aur phir humne aas paas jagah ghumi thodi si, ghumein ek saath, aur phir usne mujhse poocha tere phone ka password kya hai? aur maine usse bata diya kyonki usne phone pakad rakha tha aur usse mera wallpaper dekhna tha. aur ab realise ho raha hai ki maine usse apna password aise hi bata diya, bejhijhak aur main usse batana chahti thi. main usse apne baarein sab kuch batana chahti hoon. auruska sab kuch jaanna chahti hoon. aur phir kya, waapis ghar aagaye kyonki usne keh diya ki ab ghar chalte hain main thak gayi hoon, toh maine kaha haan thik hai, kyonki jaana main toh kabhi bhi tumhare saath ya tumse thak nahi sakti. maine usse bola ki ghar pohonch kar message kar diyo aur usne kaha tu bhi, aur muskuraayi. aur mera dil maano udd hi gaya. Bas aur kya, thoda sa pyaar aur ho gaya. Usse itni tez gale laagaane ka mann hua na, aur abhi do ghante bhi nahi hue hain lekin uski itni yaad aa rahi hai.

Duniya main jitna pyaar hoga na, mujhe tumse usse shayad thoda zyada hi hoga.

Research

I spent time researching Do ho Suh, and I discovered a few things about him and his work process that interested me.

First the fact that he was born to a well known artist Se-ok Suh, an ink painter and Min-za Chung who is one of the founders of Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation. I can really see both the cultural and artistic influence of his parents in his work.

Do ho Suh has a strong architectural focus in his work, and the Korean house (hanok) reappears in his work time and again. Home and the memories associated with it is a strong concept for him. ‘Home started to exist for me, when I no longer had it’ Suh said in an interview.

In one of his projects, Seoul Home/L.A Home which focuses on his sense of displacement. It was sewn together from custom made fabric. The colour interested me. It’s a beautiful translucent jade colour. He picked the colour from the ceiling paper in the traditional Korean house. In the traditional house, you hang white papers on the wall and on the ceiling you have this sky blue or jade coloured wallpaper. It symbolises the sky or the universe. That house is for the scholar, so when they study in that room the colour allows them to think about the universe or a bigger a space.

Colour is a really important aspect of design for me personally and I love the amount of thought and meaning Do ho Suh puts into his use of colour.
