Miley Cirus is a walking karaoke machine. In 20 years, she’s had 3 pop hits. Other than that, she’s made a career out of singing other people’s songs at a rate unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Most music acts have a few covers up their sleeves, but Miley’s made it a habit of finding the original songwriters and doing a collab on some talk or variety show. She’s got a particularly unique, solid voice. And I feel it’s wasted on Jim Buckley tunes she should not be signing and songs meant for people with a little more life experience than starring on a Disney teen TV program. No matter how many tattoos she gets, or potty mouth things she says, at least Madonna came out with new albums which had as many top hits as Curus has had her whole career. Genuine Q: I don't follow KPop or have an opinion on Dreadgate, but I am curious why this has struck a nerve with so many black fans when other aspects of black culture like music, dance, fashion etc being used by non POC ppl tends to be seen as more benign?

I don't know. Maybe if other cultures take up dance and musical styles, its not something for which black people are generally looked down on, not things that are used to totally discriminate. They're OK because if black person invents and performs a dance or musical style, then its not looked down on if black people do it. (Wait let's not mention that twerking or dutty whine or Pon Di River are ghetto when black ppl do it, but edgy when Miley Curus or BlackPink or GOT7 does)But hair has always been something deep for black ppl. Black peoples' hair do GREAT in twists, plaits and locks; our hair is well taken care of in those styles. Yet African-Americans and other black groups are still judged over it and its not cool on them. In my own lifetime, if a woman's hair wasn't chemically straightened or you didn't have a weave in, you'd be seen as not as good as those who did. Kinky/coily hair = 'bad' hair (to this day, in the year of our Lord 2017, I've heard my own black ppl say 'bad' hair, because that is what years of society and media has fed us. 'Good' hair is long and straight). A black man is profiled as a thug. As recently as last year in the US Army, there were updated rules working against black women's natural hairstyles.Dreadlocks were popularized in Jamaica as a fundamental part of early Rastafarianism, a black movement to shun white colonialism and honour, literally and figuratively, our roots.So when you pile all of that up and someone who is not black just...takes it, uses it to sell a product by being More Urban, it comes across as exceedingly shitty to me.I'm sure that there are black people out there who think that having non black ppl wear dreadlocks/cornrows/twists are ok, but those black folks don't talk for me. I'm also sure there are more black folks who will say even the taking of dance/music without acknowledging the source is still appropriation but you asked about hair. The answer for me is that it's complicated and HURTFUL and we've been spending so long explaining WHY it hurts but people keep doing it...well.

Your Face Sounds Familiar| Αυτές είναι οι μεταμορφώσεις της πρεμιέρας!

Την Κυριακή 23 Απριλίου στις 8 το βράδυ επιστρέφει στον Ant1 το πολυσυζητημένο “Your Face Sounds Familiar” για να γεμίσει τις Κυριακές μας με τον πιο ευχάριστο τρόπο. 

Πρόκειται για τον τέταρτο κύκλο του δημοφιλούς show που ρίχνεται στη μάχη της τηλεθέασης απέναντι σε σκληρούς αντιπάλους. Η νέα δεκάδα καλλιτεχνών που θα μιμούνται διάσημα πρόσωπα της τέχνης είναι ταλαντούχα και το κανάλι πιστεύει πως αυτή θα είναι ίσως η δυνατότερη σεζόν του show.
