so i was bored yesterday and (with the help of wikipedia, in-game documents and the like) ive decided to write out the entire outlast timeline. or 99% of it anyway. i severely underestimated how big it actually is, but this was very fun to do! never again tho

You know what's funny but also drives me crazy about the Outlast fandom?

They swap Miles and Waylon's personalities.

and I think it's all because if Gluskin. Because the world wanted Waylon to be an innocent twink 🥺 for the man obsessed with wanting a bride👰‍♂️. When he's. You know. The whistleblower???? The guy who was sick of keeping silent over all the fucked up stuff he was a part of?

and then people portray Miles as some sorta stoic badass because the walrider chose him??? You do realize the walrider hosts can only be deeply traumatized individuals, right?? I mean, yeah, Waylon's also traumatized but his bitterness is what keeps him going.

During the game the protags leave notes over what they experience. Miles's notes can be summed up to "holy fucking shit"😫😭 and Waylon's notes can be summed up to "fuck this fucking place"😠😡. He even writes a note to his wife that if he dies he hopes she'll burn the place down.

Waylon is the one with the angry and jaded pov. Miles is not a fighter. His only options are run, hide, or die. Waylon is the one who drags himself out with a leg injury and survives.
