Who're your favorite aa characters and what're your favorite aa games?

oh man, this is probably gonna be a long post LOL

favorite aa game is hands down the great ace attorney chronicles. there's no competition. that game is literally the best: character wise, story wise, and soundtrack wise. there was not one part of tgaa that i did not enjoy playing. the way that they bring details back in the second game is absolutely mind blowing.

i remember watching my brother play through it after i had played it. realizing things that you didn't notice in your first playthrough is absolutely amazing. (literally watching him play dgs1-3 was such an experience)

if you want my favorite main line aa game, i'd say aa4. i wish it was longer! i love apollo, and i love what they were doing with phoenix. the soundtrack in that game is really good too! plus apollo and trucy's dynamic is good!

klavier is also one of my favorite prosecutors so... that game will always hold a special place in my heart <3

as for favorite characters.. i'll try to limit it to my top five LOL

(in no particular order)

edgeworth. my ride or die, the loml. his character arc is amazing, and seeing his rise to stardom was amazing. i love how he goes from being an ass to being one of the chillest mfers. gotta love miles (and the spinoff games are fun!)

sholmes. i dont think i need to explain myself. but, his personality and vibes were always fun! i loved seeing him randomly pop up at crime scenes. and the fact that he was always eight steps ahead of you was fun.

ryunosuke. in my eyes, the best defense attorney just because he's written so well. seeing his growth from dgs1 to the end of dgs2 was amazing.

susato. god, this list is gonna be mostly dgs characters, isn't it? but susato is, in my eyes, one of the better written aa women LOL. she's given love and a personality outside of the bubbly girl assistant and i like that about her!

phoenix. you thought id made a favorite aa character list and NOT include the best boy, the best dad??? you'd be wrong. can't NOT have nick in my top characters. i love him, i wanna give him a hug.

So, I just saw this email in my inbox:

Seriously, I love the whole fic. The way they are relating to each other, how Phoenix is talking about Trucy...Very touching and relatable. I like this here in particular:

"Still, the human mind tended to dig its nails into traumatic memories and drag them out into the light as a reminder of the agony one’s been through, trying to keep the recollection sharp so the body still knew what to do if it happened again."

"He’d come to terms with those things years ago, but the mind remembered, always foisting them upon you at your most vulnerable, chronic and incurable, no matter how long you went without a relapse."

This is just so universally applicable. In real life, definitely, yet we can also apply it to any AA character who has a particular traumatic backstory. Barok comes to mind, but there are others, of course. It's real. Many of us have been there at least once in our lives. Thank you for these words.

I can also appreciate how calm and reasonable Edgeworth is in this fic. Or the subtle yet significant change from Edgeworth to Miles, and from Wright to Phoenix.

Question for you: When you're not writing fics, do you prefer calling him Edgeworth or Miles?

aa brushes around trauma a lot but doesnt exactly follow through (especially in the main games but dgs does not go anywhere near as hard with kazuma's death as it should) and that's kinda lame! phoenix especially doesnt get a lot of closure so i wanted to throw in an "of course he empathizes, and that's what makes it so significant that edgeworth is letting phoenix support him in this way" sort of thing

the way people react to grief and trauma is never linear and it's important to recognize that even though it hurts and even though it feels like you're regressing, sometimes its just your brain going "jesus christ, remember that thing that was horrible? i sure do. don't forget that it happened; don't let your guard down" and it doesn't mean you're any weaker for it, AND it doesn't mean that you should feel bad about that reminder affecting you!

also as for whether i refer to him as edgeworth or miles outside of fic:

i like to imagine miles can get a bit annoyed talking to dick over text because kay or maya are always teaching him little abbreviations and emoticons that miles just doesn't understand

or on the off chance dick does try to construct a proper sentence it goes something like this (≧▽≦)
