psuevent1 f2f starter for @milahummel
A few drinks into the evening, and Puck was really starting to get the hang of all this rich people shit. Can't say he liked it exactly, but the liquor and tiny food sample things were on another level. Speaking of, he was looking for more of that tint salmon when he noticed the person next to him had a cochlear implant and thought he could get some practice in. Tapping the stranger on the shoulder, he started signing. Hey, sorry to interrupt, I saw your implant.

Puck was glad she wasn't put off, and even more glad his signing wasn't so horrible she couldn't understand him. Following her lead, he also spoke and signed his response. "I'm hearing, but I'm taking an advanced ASL class this semester, and I could use all the practice I can get." He admitted with a laugh. It had been a while since he had to be fluent in sign, but he didn't try to keep up with it at home, making his daughter sign along with him. It did come in handy, though, when they needed to signal each other secretly. "Are you a student, professor or- shit I don't know the sign for a-l-u-m-n-i." He signed each letter of the last word. To be fair he had just learned the word in general like a week ago.

Sometimes, big crowds, and along with them loud noises, could get just a little too much for Mila, perhaps a bit of sensory overload for her good ear. A momentary step back from the buzz of conversation was often necessary, so she hovered by the food table, simply observing, until a tap on her shoulder caught her attention. Turning to see an unfamiliar guy signing to her, she instinctively looked to his ears. Hey. She signed back. She both spoke and signed, "Are you hearing, or..?" She didn't see an implant, but that didn't mean anything.
