P.S.A. or Not

Greetings my dear friends, and fret not. Nothing urgent here! I just wanted to make sure my recent changes didn't confuse anyone. As some of you already know, I have two blogs, and several years ago on my original blog "mikefrawley" I started reblogging a few friends each morning. It turned out that a very small number of my friends were unhappy with having to see the reblogs as well. So for that reason, and for the confusion it was causing me, I created a second blog "dontcryitsonlymike". I was shocked when so many of my dearest friends followed me on the new blog and still remained on the old one. Anyway, I'll try not to make this another one of my famously, or infamously long prose attempts, and finish briefly. Long story short, for the time being at least, I've started reblogging again, and I enjoy sharing our friends work as do many others here on Tumblr, but if you prefer to only see my posts, please feel free to follow me on dontcryitsonlymike instead, though I hope you'll stay right here and enjoy our friends with me. I certainly do enjoy them! Well that's probably more than enough, but please remember that I love you, and above all else, NEVER forget to love yourself! Love, Mike 💕

Growing Pains

Christmas is an odd time of year for me.  It seems as if smiles and teardrops are walking hand in hand.  It’s a strange feeling, and yet feeling itself has always been strange.  Looking back at the many good times weighed nearly evenly against the enormity of the not, wearing a misty eyed smile has become my facade, and I don’t even know the cause.  Is it age, a weary heart, or perhaps only the baby steps and growing pains of wisdom.  I’ll probably never comprehend the meaning, and yet almost instinctively I understand that it has much to do with that most frighteningly fearless of emotions, love.  Ironic isn’t it, I don’t much care for love.  It hurts!  It hurts when loved ones suffer, when they leave, when they die.  I’ve tried, damn I’ve tried to be unloving, uncaring and unfeeling.  Of course it never really worked, but I’ve felt too much, and often desired not to feel anything.  Yes love hurts, and yet without it, what would be the point of this insanity we dance within?  We live, we love, we laugh, we cry, and yes you, and I, and everyone and everything will die.  Without love a thousand times, yet with it we die but once.  I love you.

In 2014 I was here hearting all my friends. I think I hearted @mikefrawley most of all. He used to privately jab at me when I failed to note him or his work. This grew into a hearting competition. I was always behind.

Over the years, we spoke less and less. But whenever I returned, he was always here. EVERYDAY for years. I've never seen any other writer so prolific. I don't know where he has gone, but...In case no one has told you today, you are loved.

Holy Holidays 2024

Greetings again my friends. We know that we have no right to ask or beg for a favour because being in front of you is a crime punishable by death. Time, like two moments fall for each other, we've been trying to flow your rocky river without cracking our love boat but you wickedly turned the cards to change this sail into two lost moments trapped inside a jungle where there's no way to breathe.

I just really wanted to say Thank You, to all who has sent a kind message checking up on me or helping me through this. It means so much to me. To have people I can trust to share this with, seek advice from or just be in the company of whilst being so conflicted and confused or hurt and angry from the pain of what happened. 

In all honesty, I always grew up thinking I’d always be alone to face what I had to with no help or support. Tumblr has allowed me to meet a few of the most incredible friends and people I could’ve never thought to meet. I’ve learned so much about respecting myself, internalizing their kind voices instead of the abusive ones I grew up with and being vulnerable and trusting because there are the very few people who more than deserve that. People I respect with my entire heart inside out. 

Despite what life throws at me, knowing I’ve had your company or presence in my life makes me feel ever grateful and blessed. I hope I can give something back to your lives too. 

No matter how much darkness or bad there might be in the world, knowing there are lights like you whom exist with your kindness and wisdom inspires me to continue fighting. 

I hope I can be such a light in another’s life in the future as you have been to mine.
