On March 6th 1974 Sentenced guitarist Miika Tenkula’s was born, let me again pass the voice to Timo Isoaho, who is an expert in the matters of the Finnish metal scene. Here is his Instagram post from Dec 24th, 2019:

The master at the office… Sentenced’s lead guitarist Miika Tenkula was one of the most talented Finnish song writers ever. Sadly, he passed away in 2009 because of a sudden heart attack, caused by some genetic reasons.

I met him many, many times over the years, but I never knew him that well. But I miss him for sure – as very special person and as very special song writer… #sentenced #finnishmetal #metalguitarists #miikatenkula

Today is the anniversary of Sentenced guitarist Miika Tenkula’s death, on this occasion let me quote Timo Isoaho, a freelance journalist, photographer and a person who probably knows all about Finnish metal music scene. Here is his Instagram post from Feb 18th, 2019:

This is the obituary of Miika Tenkula – easily one of the most innovative Finnish guitar players ever.

Sentenced’s composer and lead guitarist Miika died after a sudden heart attack exactly ten years ago (Feb 18, 2009) in his home at Muhos, Finland. He was only 34 years old.

I got to know the guys of Sentenced around 1991-1992, when they were playing these relatively small concerts all around Finland, with groups such as @amorphisband, @impalednazareneband and many other upcoming underground death/black metal bands.

Sentenced were from the Northern Finland (and I wasn’t), but I always got along with them from the day one. So, witnessing the last ever Sentenced-concert in Oulu’s @clubteatria in October 2005 was a memorable moment – and there was some tears as well.

Miika’s death was a huge shock, although he drank quite heavily now and then. But he was still young, and he was planning a new band as well.

Well, now it’s time to listen to End Of The Road, Mourn and few other tunes… #miikatenkula #sentenced
