Raven did such an amazing job with these two and captured their vibes spot-on—I’m so delighted with the final product!!! Who is the OC whose dietary preferences are most interesting to you in this moment and why?

I think Virgil is the one I mull over the most, currently. He appears human but is actually a huge centipede monster with a human-mimicking form. He is carnivorous, and an obligate "cannibal" as he can only eat humans. His body can't process meat from other sources.

I mostly did this because hehe hard vore, but it's led to some interesting scenarios. Virgil doesn't feel bad about killing people because he has no other choice, so if he wants to continue to live, he's forced to treat humans like livestock. He uses his biology as an excuse not to feel guilt. But when it really comes down to it, he is reluctant to murder humans that he's grown more attached to. He can also subsist on bodies that have died of natural causes, so he doesn't have to kill at all. But he still does because something about it is "fresher" and something in his body drives him to kill, not just eat.

So just because he can find meals while causing less suffering, does that mean he has to or should do it that way all the time?

I've made killing people necessary for him, but secretly also unnecessary, so actually he has no real excuse and is still a psychopath and a jerk.

Central Park Runaway — 🌠&🔪

RP-inspired doodle, ft. @mihlen’s Demari!  Prose excerpt below 🤼

It’s the middle of January now, and it’s snowing.  Fat clusters of fluff descend from a sky so thick with clouds it reflects the cityscape below, white crystals clinging together with a will-they-won’t-they looseness that fails to blanket the ground properly.  Instead, there’s a dusting of wet powder over everything, enough to insulate sound but too scant to build on itself.  It melts into the stonework of one of Central Park’s walkways.  With luck it’ll harden into ice that gives someone a hole in the head tomorrow morning.

Another white New Year following a white Christmas.  In New York City, they’ll probably get a white Valentines Day, too.  He wonders if that will ever change.

The end of a cigarette glows soft in the dark, in the shadows between two streetlights who’ve both seen brighter nights.  Nicotine does nothing for him, and tar doesn’t build in his lungs, but Tarou thinks it’s nice to be able to see his breath in the air like other people, as childish as it is.  It’s a habit he’s finally free to indulge in, now that he’s alone, even though the same part of him that would love to diagnose himself with an oral fixation from child neglect thinks he’s kind of an idiot for it. ㅤ He should probably leave, he thinks also.  The northeast is La Cosa Nostra territory, and it’s only by sheer luck and living in an approximation of squalor that he hasn’t been found and ratted out by one of his Family’s friends of a friend.  He just doesn’t really know where else to go that wouldn’t suck shit.  Maybe if he snuck onto a freighter to Japan and became an urban legend in some nowhere countryside.  Lol.  He’d certainly look the part.

A sigh.  Smoke curls into the air in ribbons, catching the glow of the lamp he’s stopped his gait to lean against.  This part of the park is deserted at this hour of night, at this time of the year, but there’s been someone ambling towards him for a while now.  Light-bodied, cold, young.  They’re not coming down the walkway, instead wetting their shoes in the icy mud beneath the trees.  They don’t seem to be in good health.  Tarou would assume they’re another transient in need of a dumpster fire if they didn’t smell so clean.

The thing is, they’ve stopped walking a few minutes ago.  Tense and wound taut, he wonders if they can feel their limbs at this point, if they have enough energy to shiver for heat.  Doesn’t seem like it.  Tarou puts his cigarette out on the metal behind him and tosses the butt into the middle of the path.  He pulls another from the pack, paper rustling against the inner pocket of his jacket.

“If you’re doing this for attention,” he calls out to the stranger—the other kid—voice rising above the hush of snow, “you could’ve picked a better month, you know.”

The original is from December 2023 (and will be backuploaded as such), but I edited it in May 2024 and then again now in September 2024 to add tendrils and some type…  mihlen helped me add some info on them in Korean so I could share the reference with a KR artist, and I thought it looked nice with the blurb so uploading as-is :D
