I know this probably isn't true but yknow how baby birds are always so ugly and have parches of downy feathers? I imagine mc x C future where there's 2 gorgeous parents and a hord of lil fugly splotchy tiny squeaky phoenixes tucked into their shirt pocket. Just imagine C commanding the throne room and their baby's bald head peeking through the pocket. Mc preening their baby feathers or C sitting on eggs to hatch them🤣
Baby Phoenixes aren’t exactly that small to fit into a pocket — especially since the MC wouldn’t really be dealing with them after they hatch from their eggs (as that’s typically for two phoenix parents) so you’d more than likely be dealing with the “bigger” forms anyway (meaning the children would probably start truly shifting a few months into life)… In my head baby phoenixes, when shifted obviously, look like this:
Just absolutely adorable little birdies.

If MC doesn’t age because they’re already dead, and C doesn’t age due to the mate immortality lore, would C ever step down from the throne someday? Why are their parents planning to step down?- I don’t remember the lifespan of Phoenixes. That aside, I don’t really get the need to transfer power if they’re not aging or losing the physical ability to handle responsibilities.
Phoenixes are technically immortal already — not going into what the technically entails due to spoilers — so that has nothing to do with the MC or the mate bond lore.
There’s a reason the Midnight Sun elicits the reaction the way that it does — as the Midnight Sun is the event wherein a new ruler takes over the Eclipse Throne… Meaning that the Eclipse Throne decides when a reign begins and when it ends. I don’t want to get too heavy on the specifications of how that necessarily works (again for spoilers) but it ties in with later events that’ll be revealed over the course of the story.
Your last point is pretty much the exact reason Alaric hasn’t stepped down from his own throne and position… He’ll either do so when he’s dead or he gets bored of being king.

I apologize cause this is a dumb ask, but I'm kinda confused about how the supernaturals work in this story. It might be nsfw, but how do the animal based supernatural species have children? Are werewolves born as actual wolves that later shift into human form? And Phoenixes born as literal eggs that are incubated/hatch into birds, and then babies?
Wolf shifters don’t have their young as actual wolves because wolf shifters grow into their wolf — it’s something that matures with them; meaning that they can’t shift automatically from birth. Whereas phoenixes can; a Phoenix is born being able to shift — hence them being able to be born either way. Are phoenixes always born through hatching? No, but they are typically born somewhere warmer in climate so they can be comfortable and have the ability to shift (as young phoenixes tend to do that as they’re getting used to everything… fortunately they can’t fly yet).
Typically the bird within the Phoenix will let them know what to do — it is instinctive within them. (And the egg thing is truly only with two phoenix parents — so you won’t have to really worry about it.)
