Anyway, spotify wrapped was fun and all, but let's start messing up your next year's playlist!
I get the panther thing, but what does the Yen have to do with this? (3.3%) -- "That Night In Hawaii When I Turned Into A Panther And Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn't Control … Sh¥t Was Wild," André 3000
This is genuinely more shoegaze than anything, but it flows really well (3.3%) -- "Headache," Grouper
Leave it to Carlos to make a simple background bassline compelling. (3.7%) -- "Golden Dawn," Carlos Dengler
I'd prefer ten minutes of these vocals, but I do respect the brevity. (5.7%) -- "Follow," Emily Kokal
You had me at "skeletal piano lines with lots of space to breathe" (7.3%) -- "Water Tail," Midori Hirano
The video YouTube recommends when you're in violent need of catharsis (8.4%) -- "ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL," BLACKSHAPE
Realistically I'll drop everything for Estonian Folk Music. (9%) -- "Kuud kuulama," Maarja Nuut & Ruum
Just can't get enough of these ethereal synth melodies (9.3%) -- "Cathedral," Vince Clarke
This is genuinely more industrial than anything, but I like to fuck shit up (9.5%) -- "Howler," Martin Gore
Nine minutes of Moog, five minutes of making tea, one cat's opinion. (10.4%) -- "…And So I Closed My Eyes," Roger O'Donnell (note: there is an extended silent period. Keep listening. The cat will come.)
Hell yes, noir-esque muted trumpets. (12.6%) -- "Into Silence," Mixophrygian
Once described this as "almost cartoonishly Halloweeny" and that's the best part (17.6%) -- "Why Should I," Leila ft. Terry Hall and Martina Topley-Bird
Tagging: @beepboopimtiredofliving, @whitefoxes, @possumboi2002, @hazel-moonwitch, @missroserose, and @somnwritessometimes
I have to say, there's something kind of delightful in how the Vince Clarke works with the Martin Gore. That was not intentional, but it worked out well. Also, my apologies to the person who thought there'd be Wendy Carlos Williams on this. There should have been! There probably should have been. But no, it was Carlos the former bassist of Interpol. Sorry about that.
Anyway, listen and enjoy. I have a concept for the next one, but I'm still working it out. It'll probably be up later today depending on how my last-minute zine crunch works out.
Pick a (probably not actually) Ambient Song From a Bad Description
To be honest, this isn't even really André 3000's fault; I've been trying to build a playlist around one of these songs for a long time, and this just gave me the impetus.
Pick a song, any song! But you only have my bad descriptions to go off. If you're genuinely curious about a song, please shoot me an ask and I will answer you. If you have guesses, I always enjoy those. (If you actually recognize the violent YouTube catharsis song, please let me know -- judging by the video comments it's a surprisingly common experience?)
Poll runs for a week. At the end of the poll, I will make a playlist out of all songs, in order from least votes to most votes. If you would like to hear that playlist, leave a comment or put it in the tags, and I will tag you when the playlist goes up.
And in the meantime, I will be streaming as much ambient as possible to infuse my Black Friday with some kind of sense of calm. And maybe just a little industrial. For the catharsis.
#polls#music#playlists#just seeing the André 3000 title written out cracks me up#although to be fair if the BLACKSHAPE weren't an acronym it would not be any better#such a banger of a song though#god that song is good#Spotify

[Album] Teodor Wolgers veröffentlicht zweites Album "Dialogues"!
Tracklist "Dialogues": 01. Reconnaissance Without End ft. Niklas Paschburg 02. The Pleasure Principal ft. Midori Hirano 03. The Art of Conversation ft. Tom Ashbrook 04. Nocturne ft. Felix Rösch 05. Song of the Storm ft. Bear Garden 06. The Dominion of Light ft. Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres 07. The Human Condition ft. Fejká 08. The Flavour of Tears ft. Timo Krantz 09. A Taste for the Invisible ft. Sara Parkman 10. The Healer ft. Violeta Vicci 11. Angelus ft. Luchs 12. The Misanthropes ft. Abul Mogard
