Inside Jokes and References in the Full Bios
Tumblr media
Mainly for @spacelizardtrashboys and @kuruumiya
Also: Any time strikethrough text is used it's because it's meant to be secret information, for example on the small bios any time 'Lucifarian' truly isn't their last name their is strikethrough test after saying that it's not their real name. This is to say that no matter what is written or if it's strikethrough text or not, it is there for a reason.
Damien - Bio In-Jokes and References:
The Quote for him refers back to his 'King of Hell' gimmick, as does his middle name, Rex means king.
He's protective, like a dad, but also way too overprotective over the gimmicks for the girls. He's an old, old school guy so he enjoys card games with the boys.
He's supposed to sound like a young Hugh Laurie, mainly because if I heard a young Hugh Laurie say Damien's bio quote I wouldn't be able to take him seriously.
His main finisher (Seventh Circle) refers back to (a) him being the king of hell and (b) the seventh circle is for violence, and well, he's a wrestler, that's a pretty violent job.
He calls fans both 'peasants' and his 'loyal subjects' because he's like an asshole-ish king who'd quickly be dethroned if they rebelled.
Vickie - Bio In-Jokes and References:
The Quote for her refers back to her gimmick along with the old saying 'pride comes before the fall'.
She's called 'Victoria' because of both (a) it meaning victory and (b) the fact that Queen Victoria ruled back when Britain had an empire, then the empire fell (as in pride [Vickie] before a fall)
Both Her and Damien are born in August and are the only two to share a birth month as they are Father and Daughter (non-kayfabe, as in they share DNA)
She's raised Christian as back when she was growing up England was a lot more Christian than when she became an adult so she got lax in her beliefs
Her personality is supposed to make her come across as a vain, rich, arse of a person, yet deep down she's still redeemable, she's got a long way to go before she actually redeems herself though
She's the type of person who makes sure EVERY little detail of her matches and promos are PERFECT to the point that she will control what other people do or say, down to the moment it's said/done and the way it's said/done
She only likes the other D.O.D (Daughters of Darkness) members because she has only made enemies in the short while they've been in the company, she especially dislikes George 'The Animal' Steele because of his very messy style going against her 'everything should be perfect' views
She's the leader, the brain and the mouth because of her control over the group, if she let them have more control, there might be less arguments about her amount of control
Her named moves are also references to both her gimmick and other things. Beheader is named because of the Tudor monarchs of England having kind of a thing for killing people in this way (ex. Henry VIII).
Lineage Ender is named that because if she ever botches that one specific move (it'll make sense in context/ she does it during a training scene) it could end either her own Lineage or the person she's doing it to.
Lion's den is called that because she traps them in a near-inescapable crucifix pin, and normally if someone goes into a den of Lions, they aren't escaping in one piece.
Family Pride is named that because not only is her gimmick the sin of pride, but she's got pride in her family and she's her dad's 'pride and joy' because she's his only child.
Wish for this (her main finishing move) is called that because it's an inside joke of "you're gonna 'wish for this' to be over soon"
As she's Damien's blood daughter, a 'prodigal son' joke seemed somewhat appropriate.
Billie - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a reference to the Guerreros and the whole 'Latin lover' trope
She was born in February because of Valentine's day, hence why her birthday is two days before the 14th
She's 1/2 Cuban (just in general - both Mexican and Cuban culture is interesting to me) But she's 1/2 Cuban in case I ever need to write for Razor Ramon, I can get away with making the joke of 'my Cuban accent's better than yours'.
Her casual style is 'Suggestive' because how else is Lust supposed to dress.
She dislikes Hulk Hogan because she finds him incredibly annoying and she dislikes Jesse Ventura because she dislikes his fashion choices.
I imagine her uncle Hugo looks like Luis Guzman and her dad's like Raul Julia. Try to imagine those two wrestling as a luchador tag team.
Her mother was basically a valet to her dad, which was usually Billie's role before she was part of the D.O.D.
Her move name references are all song references: Love me Tender - Elvis' song of the same name, Personal Aphrodite - a reference to / joke on 'Personal Jesus', Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye's song of the same name.
Also, I hope to eventually use the joke 'The Babe, the babe with the power,' 'What power?' 'Power of voodoo' 'Who do?' 'You do' 'Do what?' 'Remind me of the babe' because of one of her commentary nicknames being 'The Babe'
P.G - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is in reference to her being greed and (right at the start of the story) her thoughts on money actually being able to buy her happiness
her surname 'Voronin' means crow, and well, crows like shiny things, like money
she wears 'fancy but simple' clothing because if she bought designer clothes she'd be in debt, but she still wants to look like she has more money than everyone else
she's cowardly in a Jimmy Hart way, she'll piss someone off during a promo and run away once she feels like she's in danger
she's a showman because she's more show than work, meaning she works exceptionally quick matches.
Her moves are basically jokes on the fact that she is greed, such as Gold-digger and Diamond Ring. However, Money Maker is also a joke on the fact that it's a facebuster and usually an actor's face is called their 'money maker'
She hates Hulk Hogan and Sgt slaughter because of how patriotic they are
Kirby - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a reference to (a) the fact that she's Gluttony, (b) her being the only one who wears a mask constantly and (c) her basically being the group's scare tactic against people who think they can push them around.
I am planning on eventually making her a part of the machines, maybe as a valet, maybe as a wrestler, not 100% sure as of right now
Her mother is the Norwegian-Scottish one and her father is the Irish-Welsh one
She is the tallest (not the heaviest, that's Damien) but she's still 9 inches shorter than André.
She's willing to bleed hardway, but hates blading
She hates Big John Studd because of his disrespect, she hates Hulk Hogan because she thinks he's obnoxiously 'American', she dislikes Lord Alfred Hayes and Dynamite Kid because they are so insistent on calling her '1/4 Icelandic' whenever she talks about being 1/4 Norwegian. She hates Brutus Beefcake because he's just 'so, so much' energy-wise.
She's always been tall, always shorter than André though, she was 5'6" when she was 12, which is still taller than Sam, P.G and Eli.
Kirby's the best at using folk tales and mythology references in her promos and still keeping them dark and scary.
Her speaking voice is Jessica Hynes, but I imagine her singing voice (which will be important later) to be that of Deee-lite's Lady Miss Kier. On that note, I will be putting up a post on this part of the fic's canon.
Feeding Frenzy is meant to look similar to Roddy's wild punches, hence the 'frenzy' part of the name.
Organ grinder is named because it's meant to look really hard (like she's putting all her force and weight into it) as if she's grinding her opponents organs
Hungry for Blood is an in-joke of during her toughest matches she seems hungry to give the fans the sight of blood
Consummation is a joke of 'the match will soon be over, the match will soon be concluded, or consummated' not the sex-based meaning of that word.
Number of the beast, which is 666, is a reference to the 619, and is a modified 619 basically.
Vampire's Bite is a reference to her sitout jawbreaker looking like she could possibly bite someone's neck, like a vampire, as she performs the move
I didn't want to call her chops, chops, so I made a joke of 'oh it's chopping, like a butcher's knife'
Overfeeding is another basic gluttony reference. Cheshire Grin is a facelock-based joke. Let Them Eat Cake is a butt=cake joke
The ogress is a thinly-veiled way of the commentary team calling her ugly, because why else would she be the only one in a mask
Holly - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is written that way because I always wanted her to sound like she comes from New Jersey
She's very cuddly towards the rest of the D.O.D and thus gets called a teddy bear by the others
She's Pansexual because she doesn't care what your gender is, she loves people just being themselves
She's the only ginger because I've never seen a ginger wrestler from New Jersey
She was raised Catholic but lost her faith upon realising how bad gay people are treated by the church (Holly literally just goes "Y'all it is 1984, how are y'all gonna reject people based on who they love?")
Holly's very much the person who'll ask permission to cut a promo on someone but won't tell them how harsh she's going to be
She's the group's mom friend (mum friend?)
Before she started travelling with another member of the group (Holly travels with Sam a lot) she would accidentally no-show events
She does accidentally give incredibly stiff shots
Holly likes Gorilla Monsoon because their friendship is very much a weird pseudo-dad-daughter friendship, so basically, she's using him as her new dad
Her voice is Angie Harmon because I think Harmon sounds like a badass from New Jersey
Naptime, Dirt Nap and Lullaby are jokes of 'I'm gonna knock you out'
Eli - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a joke of 'this is why she doesn't do a lot of promos'
She's the most likely to be on one of those 'too hot for TV' blooper reels from her promos
Both she and Sam hate people taller than them
Sam - Bio In-Jokes and References:
Her quote is a reference to the fact that her tattoos are her 'masterpiece'
she dresses athletically because she's always ready for a fight, especially because she's usually the one picking fights
She likes Lou because he's like a crazy uncle to her and she likes George Steele because, unlike Vickie, she likes the wild man side of his gimmick
She's voiced by Melissa Etheridge because she's still feminine but is the most masculine sounding

A Primer for the Non-Subscriber: The Conical Hat
"You can choose a ready guide, in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears, and kindness that can kill.
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose free will."
~Neil Peart
Let us delve into WHY “Black Hat Society” was chosen.
Come, take a walk with me through the words of history. Our first stop will be short, here is the “why” for color.
By definition, “black” is the absorption of ALL colors in the visible spectrum. The CONES in our eyes perceive this as “nothing” being reflected or refracted from something. All light is absorbed by that thing (Newton’s). This is perceived as a ONENESS to me. ALL things are absorbed because all things are as one. Furthermore, I do not subscribe to any preconceived notions or prejudices forced upon society over time. With that, I am neither a Theist nor Atheist. I believe there is a little #TRUTH in ALL THINGS. Even something that only exists in thought, “is”. That which is not perceived, or does not exist in thought, “is” too.
I digress. Let us talk more about the history of this millinery success. This hat has traveled through human existence for thousands of years. The conical black hat has carried with it meanings of power, both positive and negative. Most recently, a hat of this style (conical black felt) was discovered on mummies from around 4,000 years ago with the “Subeshi Witches”, found on the northern Silk Road trade route.  (Although, we now understand that those around the World who were known as “witches” often did not even cover their heads or wore simple scarves instead.)
Before 1000 BC, also known as the Bronze Age, priests (because this title has ALWAYS referred to “elder” , “one with knowledge” or “wise one”) would wear golden conical hats that stood almost 3 feet tall. These hats were decorated with sun and moon symbols, indicating that their wearers were star-trackers who were able to analyze the sky to study celestial bodies and predict the weather. This is not such a mystery today. Seeing the power these people commanded from others around them by simply paying attention to their environment, dogma was taking notice.
Did the “Three Wise Men” derive from here? Was a conical hat worn to the birth of this particular messiah? They did follow a star after all.
None the less, their meteorological ability, misunderstood by many, caused the priests to be referred to as “king-priests” and were thought to have magical powers. It was also believed that they had access to a divine knowledge that enabled them to look into the future. Much of this was simply the ability to follow “cause and effect”. It is from this early use of conical hats that led to the traditional star-spangled wizard’s hat that we recognize in clothing today.
There was some thought of the Babylonian Jews at this time wearing conical hats themselves by choice. Possibly a conquered people from Iran? Scythian? Their warriors were described as wearing “conical hats” from cuneiform inscriptions found from that time. Regardless, they were forced to then wear them as a form of discrimination from the Islamic groups of Iraq. This “public identification” carried on for thousands of years for anyone connected to this hat.
Jump forward in time to the “Christ Era”.
In the 6th to 10th century, also referred to as The Dark Ages (the first half of the Middle Ages from 500 to 1000 AD) not a lot of history was able to be kept. This was a very volatile time during human existence. The Roman Empire fell and a lot of writings and knowledge were lost to the ages. The collapse of the Roman Empire lead to a lack of a kingdom or any political structure. This caused the churches of the time to take control and they became the most powerful institutions in Europe. It was during this time the Church began taking elements of “heathen” culture and Old Religion to appropriate for their agenda of conquer and expand.
Turning to the 11th century, the conical hat seemed to have been morphed into use as the Mitre, an accessory vestment, by the Church. There is quite a debate about this. You can observe from various timeless Brotherhoods of Xtianity, that the conical hat remained in use. The Spaniards are the main ones that held fast to this piece of attire. Intolerance and its representation of “wrongness” continued for the hat. It began being used for those serving “penance” with the Church.
The Practitioners who walked this Path were called Penitents. Traditionally in Spain, those wearing the conical hat were known as capirotes. It was used during the times of the Spanish Inquisition as a punishment. Bastardized as many things were from the histories of previous peoples, the condemned by that Tribunal were obliged to wear a yellow robe – saco bendito, also known as a blessed robe that covered their chest and back. along with the hat. The hat was a paper-made cone on their heads with different signs on it, alluding to the type of crime they had committed. For instance, those to be executed wore red. The were also green, white and black colors worn.
The Church’s power began to waiver again and they had to do “something” to bring it back to their grasp. One of their thinkers, whom I believe was connected to the Inquisition, began looking around for ways to do this. In 1214, The Dominican Order was established in the Catholic church. The first group on their radar was the Manicheans. For more than a thousand years, since the Roman Empire was in power, war with the Persian Empire (Middle East) which included the Manichaeans, carried on. The Manichaens were seen as representatives of a foreign power and as dangerous aliens, even though they were but a small section of Persia.  Sound familiar?
The Mani had not been supporters of the Persian Empire's wars with other lands, including Rome, but that was overlooked. The Romans persecuted the Manichaeans, while Jews were also being persecuted.  And without the backing of the brute power of a major state in the Middle East/Persia, Manichaeism would all but disappear in the future. They were considered “outcasts” in their own society. I wonder if they wore “conical hats”? Do you know who the Yazidi are? You should.
While this was happening, we move further into the 12th century with our hat. The Mongol Queens from the Mongol Empire founded by Genghis Khan in 1206, were wearing these conical hats too. Originating from the Mongol heartland in the Steppe of central Asia. By the late 13th century it spanned from the Pacific Ocean in the east to the Danube River and the shores of the Persian Gulf in the west. Khan’s was a competing empire for world dominance. None the less, there were no real differences in men and women’s clothing for the time but the Mongols needed to be seen from great distances, hence, the tall conical hat. This empire would not last against another… and the hat traveled.
As the story goes, Marco Polo brought back a sample of this hat to Europe in the 14th Century. The voracity of land grabs had already begun in the World. Mother Nature was being raped and disregarded and “fashion” became more important than meaning or purpose. The women of the time began wearing a conical hat called a hennin, not as Practitioners, but as fashionistas of their time. Very much unlike the willow-withe and felt Boqta (Ku-Ku) of Mongolian Queens. This appropriation became known as “the princess hat” and was worn tilted back on the head and veiled with brightly colored fabrics.
The “witch”, a word now derived from the Old English nouns wicca with an Old English pronunciation: [ˈwɪttʃɑ], meaning 'sorcerer, male witch, warlock' and wicce, the Old English pronunciation: [ˈwɪttʃe] for 'sorceress, female witch', actually becomes murky in meaning and language after this. The “witch” hunts were now well under way.
Since the beginning of its blighted past, the conical hat has stood to represent those outcast by their society. This seemed more prevalent in the later half its history. Why? The perpetuation of it being “negative” began with the Church.
It is of my opinion, the wearers of this hat were hold outs of Old Religion, Earth-Minded Folk and others at the turn of “the Christ event”. Because they did not or would not subscribe to what they were being sold, they became outcast from the forward momentum of society at that time. “Those in power”, i.e. Rome and later Europe and North America would not stand for anyone that did not conform to their forward march of greed and exploitation of Earth and “lesser humans”.
As we slipped into the 15th century, thousands were dying at the hands of those in power. The danger of witches became a widespread public concern. Urbanization and increased trade with foreign lands, along with epidemics of plague and cholera resulting from that trade, the onset of the Little Ice Age, upset feudal and religious hierarchies, ALL gave way to a convoluted mindset. “Something” had to be the cause. The was NO personal accountability. There was a widespread sense that the uncontrollable forces of change were destroying all order and moral tradition and the Church’s control. Persecuting witches redefined society’s moral boundaries and secured who was in control. This shift lent a leg up to allowing, and almost requiring, the demoralization of self if one did not conform or think or act like the majority in society. Differences in people, like those who were LGBTQ, although a part of us for thousands of years, were persecuted by the Church.
While we are passing through the 15th century, let us also consider the possibility that the witch’s hat is an exaggeration of the tall, conical “dunce’s hat” that was popular in the royal courts of the time as well. Or, let us consider the tall but blunt-topped hats worn by Puritans and the Welsh, who also had separate ideas than the majority. No matter what the fashion, pointed hats were frowned upon by the Church, which now associated points with the horns of the devil to maintain its power and fear-mongered agendas.
Let us also consider, somewhere along the way, an artist took creative license and added a brim to the timeless conical hat. Why would they do this?
Brimless, conical hats had long been associated with male wizards, magicians, Jews, Mani and many other societal outcasts. And, it was a male dominated society as the shift was happening. Goya even painted witches with such hats. It is possible that an artist added a brim to make the hats more appropriate for women (according to the fashion “rules” at the time) and to better fit this agenda of forward motion and subservience of others. One theory holds that the stereotypical witch’s hat came into being in Victorian times or around the turn of the century, in illustrations of childrens’ fairy tales. The tall, black, conical hat and the ugly crone became readily identifiable symbols of wickedness, to be feared by children. Hence, more fear-mongering was created in the name of control by the Church.
I do not feel I need to retell the rest of the history of the conical, now brimmed, black hat of the last 500 years. You should all be aware of the many “witch” trials by now. You have walked through history with me. You see where it comes from. You see why Georgia Black Hat Society has the Mission Statement it does. You see, my fellow Practitioner, why I take the stances that I do and want to hold to a belief of ONENESS of all things, just as my kindred folk of the previous thousands of years have done. Not war. Not greed. Not conquering my neighbors’ houses while wearing the now hijacked “black hat” of the social elite.
Harmony. Love. Unity.
THAT is what this all means to me.
 More to come.
 Blessings.

So, this was an interesting spread. It’s a bit difficult to make out what all went on in it, but I’ll try my best to go over things as best I can.
I had the feeling the other night to do a spread using my three decks. I thought I’d ask them to tell me three things about myself each that I should hear.
I also wanted to make sure that I focused the energies right, so I pulled out what felt like an appropriate signifier card for each of the decks. Up at the top (the purple one way up there) is The Star from Shadowscapes. I love the art, I love the colors, it just... really resonates with me. And the Star is one of those concepts and cards that speaks to me a lot, so I wanted to include it anyways.
Down at the bottom left (I kind of wish I had flipped the Faerie Enchantment cards over, they look nicer that way, but the information is on the back) is Brighid. “Visualize Inspirational Dreams” is the phrase for her, and she has some fitting correspondences in the deck, purple, amethyst, star. Plus her symbol is a K, which is my middle name. :P So I picked her for the Faerie Enchantment representation.
The bottom right is Phanuel, the Angel of Truth from the Angelarium Oracle. Truth... that’s definitely something I’m looking for. The truth about myself, the truth about others, the universe, the gods, spirits, magic. What does the truth mean in each of those. Is the truth as really fixed as some seem to think it is? Is it all subjective? Many things on this matter I ponder. It also here I feel has an added feeling of making sure the truth about me comes out from the cards. Brighid kind of contrasts in making sure that the ideals come out, but Phanuel balances it so it isn’t more than what is actually so.
Alright, let’s get into it. I started with the middle, Shadowscapes. I wanted to start with the shadow, the blending of light (Angelarium) and dark (Faerie Enchantments). Note that both decks have both, more the vibes I associate with both. Anyways, for Shadowscapes, I got The World, The Emperor, and The Hierophant. Unfortunately don’t have the deck on hand, but there was something in the booklet that really spoke to me about it. It was something like... blending the different songs of the world into a harmony. There are meanings here, in this reading. It talks a lot about potential I feel, balance, love, a lot of things that really resonate with me.
I’ll actually try focusing on The World part of it first. So The World is a truth about me, something I need to know. Like other readings ( @thestarseedoracle knows the ones I mean. :P ), I have a lot of potential I guess. More potential than I am willing to accept sometimes, but that I need to. Possibility, miracles, magic, a blending of different strands myself. A song that shines, a light that sings. Just... I have the World in me. I can do what I need to, I can do what I want to. I have to focus on that potential, and stop being restricted by what sounds “reasonable”. And I’m close to achieving this.
Emperor, another favorite. Command, power, structure, order. A strong masculine energy. I have that in me, something that I kind of struggle with at times. I tend to see myself more like the Empress than the Emperor. But I have the Emperor in me, presumably along with the Empress because, you know, World. But I need to be willing to accept this part of me. And the potential it has. Be willing to use the powers of the Emperor where appropriate, be willing to know when it isn’t serving its purpose.
Hierophant kind of surprised me, though I wasn’t sure who I expected to show up. Perhaps that’s part of why he showed up. I know that the cards are meant to show things I don’t see as much in myself. And this is definitely a card I may have difficulty with. Kind of a similar vibe to the Emperor too. Bridging worlds (another theme I feel came about a bit), spiritual practice, but more of an orthodox kind of thing. But I know that’s something I want to do. Be able to bridge the divine, and help bring it down here. A foot in both worlds.
Faerie Enchantments were a bit more focused. Branwen (Imbue Compassionate Feelings), Aibell (Balance Karmic Harmony), and Penarddun (Attract Empathic Love) were the three that came out. Like Shadowscapes, there are some consistent trends that Faerie Enchantments wanted to talk about. But some overarching trends too.
Branwen, part of the deck talks about how she bridged a divide between two different groups of deities. Light, and dark is how the creator interpreted the two groups, though I haven’t looked into Welsh deities enough to see how accurate that interpretation is. I feel like that was another recurring theme. One of being able to bridge worlds, no matter how different they seem. I can exist in both, I can live in both, or as many as I need. Acting with love is important for that.
Aibell talked about balance and harmony, concepts that kind of relate to that similar theme of disparate things. I know that I have that possibility in me, but it’s hard to really tell how strong it is. Of course the cards would talk about this. Karmic here talked about “dispensing justice” which I think is an important vibe too. To be willing to take action, and make my own calls, even if they seem... well, different I’ll say.
Penarddun is talking about love. My ability to attract love, and why that is. Because I give out what I receive. I share love, as best I can, with anyone I meet. Yet at the same time pull off the Aibell karmic thing, I guess. I don’t know, mystery in the process of unfolding after all. There were some things on the cards correspondences I liked too, evening, butterfly, rose quartz. But I’m being reminded of that love that I have, because I sometimes doubt it.
This leaves the last three. Angelarium. Azrael, Angel of Death. Gabriel, Angel of Heralds. Israfel, Angel of Song. The theme here I feel, is change. It’s rather clear here. The possibility to change things, to make things better, worse.
Death isn’t something I’ve always been comfortable with. I’m still not, though more so than I used to be. But if I’m The World, then Death is there too. I’m being reminded that change is... change. It is loss, it is death. But that it is only through that things can change. Gain and loss occur, and I need to be comfortable with both. And to be comfortable with death more too, if I’m going to be doing all the things I want.
Gabriel is talking about Heralds. Bringing (wait for it) change. Possibility, growth, loss. I feel like here the theme is more about me being an active agent of it, again the push to be out there and doing things. It’s... I need to be more involved, in the World, so to say. But comfortable to be me too, which will not always be out there like that. It’s a process. To be willing to, comfortable with, inspiring others. The next one talks about this some too. There are very strong themes of acceptance throughout the cards.
Israfel is the last card. I considered doing something looking at ways the cards line up, but this is kind of long as it is. Songs. I love music. I listen to it all the time. Apollon is a big (very big) deity for me, and I’m listening to music even as I write this. Hymmnos, a language I love, was created for music, and the songs it has are very moving to me. I love hearing the ways others express themselves. The way they share who they are. The words they use, the words they don’t use. I remember for a while I purposely avoided using the word “home” to avoid talking about where I live, because it wasn’t my home. For all of this love of language and songs, I don’t sing my own song. I don’t shine with my own light. But... I know I have to be willing to. I have to be willing to be me, and express myself. Take action, keep trying, keep being... me. Because I am a good person, even if I don’t think so.
I doubt anyone is too interested in this, mostly for me. Did tag the person I thought might like seeing this. Though I’m happy to hear any other comments.

fellowship of the bloggening, part 9 AND two blogs, part 1
“what’s up gamers I didn’t update last night because I was lowkey suicidal”
THE BREAKING OF THE FELLOWSHIP
how appropriate on this, a day when I am very sad*
I have a question about the landscapes in Lord of the Rings. There’s a lot of lawns. Do lawns like, occur naturally in the British Isles? Is that why? I have never met a naturally occurring lawn. Fields, yes, but not lawns. I love the island in the middle of the river, though, being kind of incongruously 50 feet tall with sheer cliffs and wheeling birds and all. Take me to the Anduin.
Aragorn doesn’t sleep well. When our heroes get up he calls them together and says it’s time to choose. Especially for Frodo. Frodo asks for another hour and goes off somewhere; everyone studiously avoids looking at him except Boromir, who Stares. Frodo climbs up on Amon Hen and stares down at the river while he thinks. Ah, I love him.
Suddenly he awoke from his thoughts: a strange feeling came to him that something was behind him, that unfriendly eyes were upon him. He sprang up and turned; but all that he saw to his surprise was Boromir, and his face was smiling and kind.
!!! Danger warning !!! Boromir is acting super super friendly and reasonable. He thinks two people can reach a decision more easily than nine! Sitting with Frodo will be a comfort to him! Frodo is kind of obliviously discourteous; like he doesn’t explicitly distrust Boromir, but it’s clear what he’s saying is making Boromir >:(
'I think I know already what counsel you would give, Boromir,' said Frodo. 'And it would seem like wisdom but for the warning of my heart.'
'Warning? Warning against what? ' said Boromir sharply.
He’s awful defensive, isn’t he. Frodo is just being super sincere and Boromir is so disingenuous. But Boromir is looking rather acquisitive, and I am sad that Tolkien didn’t include Frodo’s growing unease in the text. Like I guess it’s elegant to leave it subtextual but come on I want this to be an emotionally intense scene. All the intensity here is on Boromir’s part; he’s being contrasted with Frodo, who doesn’t emote, and who speaks in short simple sentences. Boromir starts talking grandiose talk about what Gondor could do if they had the Ring.
‘I am glad to have heard you speak so fully,’ said Frodo. ‘My mind is clearer now.'
`Then you will come to Minas Tirith? ' cried Boromir. His eyes were shining and his face eager.
`You misunderstand me,' said Frodo.
Oh I take it back I fuckin love this. So Boromir goes on the attack and Frodo sees no choice but to put the Ring on and disappear. As soon as he’s outside Ring-influence radius Boromir realizes how he was acting and starts to cry. Meanwhile Frodo makes it to the seat upon the summit of Amon Hen; it’s the seat of vision, I guess, and it’s maybe magically enchanted to he can see everything that’s going on in Middle Earth? He catches Sauron’s eye and throws himself to the ground, desperate to take off the ring before Sauron can pinpoint where he is. We get a fun description of the physical pressure of Sauron’s attention “like a finger pressing down.” And Frodo decides that he must not let the Ring near the rest of the company, to allow their minds to continue free.
Everyone else is sitting in a circle psychoanalyzing Frod; Aragorn decides that it would be best to split the party and have himself, Sam, and Gimli go with Frodo to Mordor. Let’s all take a moment to imagine that AU, which surely would have been awesome. Because spotlight Gimli!! Anyway. Boromir comes back to tell them that he vanished, and they all start looking. Sam is the only one who’s actually competent to psychoanalyze Frodo, and realizes he must have gone for the boats to go away by himself. Sam throws himself at the boat and misses by an entire yard. Frodo paddles back to shore so he can get in properly. And they’re off. time for
THE TWO TOWERS (BOOK 3)
THE DEPARTURE OF BOROMIR
We join Aragorn as he runs up Amon Hen and completely fails to use the hill’s magical sight powers to find Frodo. He DOES use his sharp ears to locate Boromir in trouble, though! Come on lad what is this Amon Lhaw? Please. Also how is “lhaw” pronounced? Like Welsh LL? That’s my vote. Haha also Aragorn realizes Sam’s not with him, but still hasn’t cottoned on to the fact that hobbits have much shorter legs than him. Dude. Your nickname in Arnor was “Legs” you KNOW this. Well, he finds Boromir impaled into a tree trunk; Boromir says that the hobbits were taken, and he has paid with his life for trying to steal the Ring. Aragorn kisses his forehead and tells him “no sweet prince you have done nothing wrong ever in your life and I love you”
And then seeing that Boromir has died he says to himself “I’ve mucked up everything, I can’t believe every single thing that has ever gone wrong was my personal fault. How can I, Aragorn, save the quest???”
Legolas and Gimli show up and they all survey the battle site, looking for clues about whodunnit. The answer: Saruman! I like Legolas announcing out loud that he is going to collect arrows, because he’s all out. He’s so extra. It’s a cultural difference, I think; Mirkwood is just culturally extra. Oh we also learn that Sauron does not speak his name, or allow it to be spoken. What?? That’s so interesting I wonder why! Finally the remains of the company puts Boromir’s funeral boat out on the river and Aragorn and Legolas improvise a really impressive duet to eulogize him. And then they go after the orcs, hoping to free Merry and Pippin from Torment. And soon to meet
THE RIDERS OF ROHAN
Our three trackers run over the edge of the Emyn Muil and down onto the plains of Rohan, following the trampley trail of the orcs. I like the bit where they pass a stream with water plants and come down into the grass and Legolas drinks it in:
'Ah! the green smell!' he said. 'It is better than much sleep. Let us run!'
This is very AS. AH THE GREEN SMELL.
They argue a while over whether they should, uh, ever sleep. When they decide that they won’t be able to track at night anyway, Aragorn literally just falls over and passes out. I love him. The trackers have zero chance of catching the orcs, who definitely aren’t sleeping ever, but they persist anyway. Aragorn is unexpectedly weary (after running for three straight days) and apparently it’s because Saruman is glaring really hard at them. Night after night Legolas keeps watch, pacing and singing to himself, because he can sleep while he runs.
On the fourth day they come upon a group of Rohirrim riding down the same trail they’re following, and hunker down to wait for them. The riders pass them right by (elven cloaks!) until Aragorn calls out to them. They are extremely suspicious, especially when they find out our trackers have been through Lothlorien. Gimli, of course, is furious that anyone would suggest Galadriel is anything other than a perfect cinnamon lembas, and yells at Eomer. Aragorn hushes him and then introduces himself in the most dramatic manner possible, trying to look extra kingly so Eomer will want to help him.
Éomer stepped back and a look of awe was in his face. He cast down his proud eyes. 'These are indeed strange days,' he muttered. 'Dreams and legends spring to life out of the grass.
I like Eomer. He says stuff like “we don’t lie and thus cannot be easily deceived” and “That was a worthy man!” (I can practically hear it in Anglo Saxon). My regret about him in the movies is that he had the cutest little snub nose and wasn’t intimidating at all. He looked like a baby.
Um anyway Eomer wants our trackers to come to Meduseld (the hall at Edoras) and identify themselves to Theoden, since they’re still rather suspect strangers. Aragorn is very insistent, obviously, on going to the battlesite and looking for Merry and Pippin. Eomer eventually gives in and says he’ll let them borrow horses to check it out, as long as they PROMISE to come back to Meduseld afterward. He is putting his life on the line for you guys! Don’t let him down!
They ride to the battle site. I want to QUIBBLE again with Tolkien’s word usage; the trackers find “freshly cut turves,” which is surely a VERY WEIRD WORD TO USE. NOBODY PLURALIZES TURF ANY MORE JOHNALD. But he still pluralizes “hoof” as “hoofs.” SMH. In any case we camp under the eaves of Fangorn (“Cut no living wood!”) and during Gimli’s watch an old man, hatted and cloaked, shows up. Or maybe just a spectre of one, because he doesn’t talk, and vanishes without moving. Spooooky. No really, come Gandalf, stop playing games.

There was a little girl...
“There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl.
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad, she was horrid.”
I can still hear my Welsh Granddad’s lilting-lifting voice when I recite that to myself, I’m not that little girl any more, and the curl in the middle of my forehead came much later, when I managed to split my scalp open on a low ceiling. (Yes, I banged my head on a ceiling, I’m an improbable creature.)
This morning, at about 3am, I made one of my infrequent ‘cries for help’, rationalising that, if I could eloquent-articulately raise my concerns about the PIP-system on a health forum, somebody might be able to re-direct ‘me’ to appropriate support. The ‘very, very good’ little Catholic girl also thought that my dogged determination to get through this damned process might strengthen resolve in others, to keep fighting. I only went to Brownies twice, but ‘help other people’ is stitched through the core of me, like the badges I never earned, because I wouldn’t have wanted to wear the brown dress, even if my mother could have afforded to buy it.
‘Nice’, if slightly barbed post, about how I’m doing my best to work my way through a system that doesn’t work. I spent another couple of pre-dawn hours starting the task I’d rolled-over from yesterday, and then my email pinged with a response from the health forum, which flipped me out of ‘nice’, and into ‘horrid’. I haven’t responded, because my initial response was SO horrid, I need to leave it be for a while, and then come back with a polite “Thank you.”, and nothing more. I ‘can’ apply societal conditioning rules to myself, just not always straight away, there’s a whole lot of time-out on the naughty step with my particular brain injuries.
I was like that ‘before’, except I’d deliberately look for things to be annoyed at, now, I don’t have to look, I’m hovering in horrid pretty much all of the time.
“I am so sorry that this has happened to you... I will pray for you... I hope that God will provide you what you need.”
Not as sorry as I am... Cheers, I’ll read your tarot some time... It’s not ‘God’ I’m up against, it’s DWP, I know about a lot of Gods and Goddesses, but I haven’t found one yet sacred to the concept of starving, freezing, or intimidating disabled people to death. See? Horrid.
The second impulse, once I’d stopped swearing at the screen, wasn’t much better, hoping she found some solace and comfort in her prayers. It’s not her, it’s me, the fact that I don’t ‘pray’ to the same ‘God’ as she does didn’t make me as angry as her well-meaning, but incredibly offensive-to-me idea that her doing a bit of mumbling to a sky-fairy would somehow improve my situation. (I’ll take that back if I’m one of the ‘Golden Ticket Winners’ where DWP actually engages their thought-processes, and offers an ‘award’ of PIP before the court-stage. How much time and money would be saved if they just processed the things properly in the first place?)
I do ‘try’ to be a ‘good’ human, most of the time, I know I have some morally questionable character-traits, but I don’t lie, cheat, or steal, and I only think about physical violence to other people, I don’t act on it. That takes effort, the not-punching-people, I’m constantly irritable, and incredibly antagonistic, I have to step-back and think-first on virtually everything, re-framing, and re-phrasing my initial response, so I don’t just go around screaming “Fuck off, you idiot!” at people. I hope I sleep properly tonight, because I need to contact the Advocate, and my MP’s secretary, and the hospital tomorrow. I’m horrid when I’m tired, and I’m tired more often than I’m not, my sleep pattern is absolutely wrecked, between the additional anxiety about the PIP-process, and the brain injuries themselves.
Right, I’m not a ‘little girl’, I’m a grown adult, I do have a curl right in the middle of the hairline above my forehead, there’s another corkscrew-curl slightly further back, where the surgeons sawed open my skull to drain the pressure from the haemorrhage. When I’m good, I’m REALLY very, very good, that’s just not all of the time. I could go for the cliche of “when I’m bad, I’m better.”, but I’m not. When I’m bad, I have to rein myself in, sometimes I put myself on lock-down when I recognise that I’m being antagonistic, more often than not, I have a big argument with myself, which is draining and frustrating, compounding the cognitive fatigue and sleep-issues. I had to talk myself out of kicking a hedgehog yesterday morning, because it was making a noise eating. A hedgehog, it’s not even confined to people any more. I talked myself out of kicking the hedgehog, because that would hurt the hedgehog, and I was wearing slippers, so it would hurt me too. “Right, OK, I won’t kick the hedgehog, I’ll go out, and pick it up, and move it under that bush, so I won’t be able to hear it.” (NO! Still wearing slippers, don’t piss about with the hedgehog, leave it alone!)
A bit later in the day, I had a massive panic attack, because I thought that a gif of an elephant someone had posted on Twitter was dancing to the ‘music’ I had playing on YouTube. My brain no longer functions as it once did, I was singing to a peanut on the kitchen floor (must pick up peanut) at one point.
I don’t know what to do. The Advocate is going to end up getting the sharp side of me again, but I sort-of need him for the PIP tribunal, because I know I’ll default to good-girl mode, and the panel will see a bedraggled 40-year-old woman who can use polysyllabic medical terminology, and write up coherent cross-referenced reports. Functional? VERY, very functional, but only for part of the day, that’s what the powers-that-be aren’t seeing. They’re not seeing me having massive arguments with myself about pretty much everything, they’re not seeing me mooching aimlessly around the house at 3am, and singing to bastard peanuts. Do I give them the horrid-side? Of course I don’t, because if I start actually saying, or shouting what’s going through my mind, they’ll call security to remove me.

Story Spin.
A rational, fulfilling finishing is constantly required in a short story, however exactly how do you guarantee that yours is actually brand new and new? Here's more info on yellow pages online (additional resources) take a look at the web page. Created due to the same author as successful The Accidental Billionaires (you'll know that as THE SOCIAL NETWORK by text The lord Aaron Sorkin), Straight Level is truth tale of a team of university students that switched a weekly online poker video game in the cellar from a local bar into one of the biggest on-line poker providers on the planet. He is actually The Embellisher since the plot spin in Life from Private eye rests on these embellishments. Therefore, rather than diving upright right into your receipt, definitely think of your story at groundwork degree - and also inspect out the tales that feel like all yours, considering that I can easily assure certainly there will certainly be some. Nevertheless, mastery the strategy friended to the appropriate theme for your story provides you a real remote possibility of magazine. These aren't spins due to the fact that they nearly never grow the story but commonly carry out the incredibly contrary, revealing to readers that factors weren't really that negative it goes without saying (de-escalation). The visitor will certainly feel the finishing is a cop-out if you don't leave any kind of hints to the fact. Certain, they are actually insulting one another immediately, however in a half hour, they'll be actually consuming alcohol together as well as refer to what does it cost? they either adore or even dislike one another. __ 1. The tale is actually created off a solitary perspective as well as a little one is the standpoint personality. This is the tale from Carrie and her younger bro, Nick that were actually vacated to a Welsh exploration community in the course of War of the nations 2. The experience is actually a some of combined emotions for the two young children. Our childbirth father brown perished when our company were incredibly youthful, and our household became your traditional stepfather misuse account, along with an even more ominous variation in regards to our sis. This is actually the opening night of Seymour Glass in the Salinger canon, and this is actually secure to state you will not absolutely know completion up until you go through intermittent Glass account. When it's opportunity to edit, keep in mind that every word must relocate the story ahead. Nippy - A second taste from sweet taste, related to a nipping experience by the end from the tongue. And also within this case, Affection Aaj Kal falls protected as well as will verify its own really worth on package office. Authentic Spin Banner stands: These are the heart from the body and also provide lots of assortment of arrangement. Creatures and also views dive away from the pages as well as Kaka's affection of crazy life brings a far-off and exotic planet to lifestyle in a magical style. This notification exists in Landing, however this is actually hidden under more comprehensive story motions, major drama, and also a lot more visible Hollywood levels. Very short stories are actually a little bit like laughs: they build up to a punchline or even a twist. Most of us knew the watercraft will kitchen sink, our experts will all observed it numerous opportunities previously, but our company still crowded to the movie house, spellbinded by Cameron's extremely credible characters, Flower and Jack, and their relocating but quick resided romance. Whatever emotional flaw you offer her, are sure she overlooks something that you may reveal in the spin. Lot of times social stories are actually composed with the youngsters' name as the name of the individual in the account. Feel in one's bones that as you use this method when composing a story, you are going to create a modern story from terrific psychological vibration, and in therefore performing, you will definitely be subconsciously educating your own self to experience this trip in your personal lifestyle. If a character is actually murdered in a tale with 5 massacres, the sense of shock is actually gone, and predictability embed in. Currently brainstorm activities as well as scenarios regarding the characters as well as just how they collide right into the story. Certain, I might fix this complication by stretching the narrative in to a novella or even novel. Amongst various other works he is actually commemorated additionally for four from his other major payments to literature: The Pickwick Documents, The Life as well as Adventures from Nicolas Nickleby, The Old Interest Outlet and Oliver Twist. This could be accomplished by incorporating a video clip display screen right into one's ensign screen style with Media Twist. The Hallucinator still works for plot spins due to the fact that you cannot believe just what she says. He experiences he loves her, yet he is additionally nervous to determine what she appears like. This is actually the account from an underdog and just how she attempted to eliminate all the tests in her lifestyle. The spin ending may be result in the Zeigarnik result being implemented as individuals are actually left open and also liking to know what happens next. Viewers are actually already thinking regarding the film's plot, and whether that indicates that people which learn the heptapod language could modify their own futures. I am actually simply proposing that the a lot more in contact you are with your intuition, the very likely you are to be capable to compare the Harry Potter" ideas and also the lifeless equines" that Bryce Courtney describes having experienced, when he just knew that a suggestion had burnt out for him. I will really encourage the blog post The Difference In between a Great Spin and a Mediocre Twist" (go here ). The account was actually located in pair of major European hubs from the moment which still bring in considerable attention today; Greater london as well as Paris. Due to the time he's able to manage the Creature, Kevin has essentially end up being the type of monster that a conventional comic book hero will take on, which appears to be Shyamalan's actual target; as with Solid (which possessed the twist that Samuel L. Jackson was the crook), he's exploring the psychology from exactly what would certainly create an individual end up being a maniac bad guy. Child's story from a youthful orphan child that stays in the middle from dreadful poverty contributed in teaching his middle-class readers regarding the ailments that Greater london's poorest homeowners were residing in. It also offered the world a number of the brightest and also very most remarkable personalities to ever poise a fictional page. Though the story on its own need to be simply created that is actually not to say that should not be actually properly created. Exactly what that suggests for the future of Unbreakable is actually unclear - the variation has actually been actually limited under wraps, thus there is actually no main word coming from Shyamalan or Willis. After years pass, the delectable taste and also give off the main role in The Story ends up being moldy and also sour. You need to possibly supply additional components that are not directly pertaining to your considered physical exercises, just in case your students are going to produce fresh concepts as well as need components to recognize them. Write 10 manner ins which character could hold off essential details in your following plot. Little ones adore it given that that feels like they are actually mistaking, and you may adore it because that mess" dries quickly. British actor Anthony Newley played the character in a 1948 film adjustment from the account. Use a wink of an eye and also a variation from a head - and also bunches of various other nonverbal looks as well as actions - to allow people recognize just what you're like, how you really feel, and who you are, so they could kick back. Fragile - A subsequent palate sensation took note for its weakened sweet-subtle feeling just past the pointer of the tongue.
