With the fast fashion industry… how it is… finding sustainable ways to make fabric is super important. Fibers from synthetic fabrics make up 35% of the microplastics that make their way to the ocean. Natural fibers sourced from plants or animals are much more environmentally sound options, including silk.
Currently, the only way to get natural silk on a large scale is to harvest it from silkworms. You’ve probably heard about the strength and durability of spider silk (it is 6x stronger than Kevlar!) but as of yet there hasn’t been a good way of getting it. Raising spiders the way people do silkworms isn’t really an option. Spiders need a lot of room to build their webs compared to silkworms, and individual spiders don’t produce that much silk. Plus, when you put a whole bunch of spiders in captivity together, they tend to start eating each other.
Attempts to artificially recreate spider silk have also been less than successful. Spider silk has a surface layer of glycoproteins and lipids on it that works as a sort of anti-aging “skin”- allowing the silk to withstand conditions such as sunlight and humidity. But this layer has been very tricky to reproduce.
However, as scientists in China realized, silkworms produce that same kind of layer on their silk. So what if we just genetically modified silkworms to produce spider silk?
That is exactly what the researchers at Donghua University in Shanghai did. A team of researchers introduced spider silk protein genes to silkworms using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and microinjections in silkworm eggs. In addition to this, they altered the spider silk proteins so that they would interact properly with the other proteins in silkworm glands. And it worked! This is the first study ever to produce full length spider silk proteins from silkworms.
The applications of this are incredibly exciting. In addition to producing comfortable textiles and new, innovative bulletproof vests, silkworm generated spider silk could be used in cutting edge smart materials or even just to create better performing sutures. In the future, this team intends to research how to modify this new spider silk to be even stronger, and they are confident that “large-scale commercialization is on the horizon."

Hair Care ❤︎︎
Wash Routines:
curly textured: wash and condition every 2-3 weeks, deep condition every 1-2 weeks
straight: wash and condition every 2-3 days, deep condition every 2-3 weeks
Styling ︎❤︎︎
Hair should have a style everyday! At home hairstyling is limitless and really depends on your taste and lifestyle. The everyday woman does her own her once every 1-4 weeks using natural hair products, heat, or other tools.
Professional Stylists:
hair is styled every 1-3 months: uses heat to straighten or curl, extensions to lengthen and add volume, shears to maintain/attain a shape and length
trim ends: every 6-8 weeks
hair color: touched up roughly every 6-8 weeks (depending on how fast your hair is growing and how fast your color will fade)
Silk Press:
after a clarifying wash and deep conditioning, natural hair is straightened using flat iron and/or pressing comb, then usually curled in feathers or pin curls to preserve the style
lasts 3-4 weeks depending on maintenance
preserved by wrapping hair at night, keep hands out of hair, and using a wide toothed comb only
can be further styled with different kind of rollers, or with pin curls
Braids:
afrocentric hairstyles typically done to protect hair while maintaining beauty
lasts 3-8 weeks
styles include knotless braids, faux locs, stitch braids, french braids, etc
Extensions:
hair added to natural hair to enhance length or volume
can be done at home with patience and proper materials
sew-in extensions: (my personal fav) 1-2 months
your natural hair gets braided down flush to your scalp and the bundles are sewn on by the wefts in a flat pattern typically with a section of hair left out to cover the wefts $100-600
microlinks: up to 4 months
i-tip extension is added to hair using micropliers, clippers and loop tool. takes far longer than most extension methods but looks the absolute most natural $500-1000
tape-in extensions: up to a year, touch ups every 4-6 weeks
medical grade tape is used to attach extensions to small sections of hair $200-400
clip-in extensions: 3-6 months
extensions are clipped on by the wefts. the hair itself can last up to six months, but it’s not recommended to sleep, shower, or swim with the extensions in $50-100
Natural Styles:
all last roughly 1-2 weeks at most. allowing hair to completely DRY is crucial for these styles. your natural hair can be further changed in styles like buns, puffs, etc once dry
natural hair essentials: scalp oil, leave in conditioner, detangling brush, wide tooth comb, curling cream, styling gel, edge control and edge brush
wash n’ go
wash and detangle, then use leave in conditioner to keep hair moist. oil on the scalp and ends is recommended for growth and healthy ends
bantu knots
a traditionally african style where the hair is cleanly sectioned (usually parted in a cute pattern) and twisted into knots. style can be worn just like this or taken down for curls
braid/twist out
a specific pattern of curls is achieved after hair is twisted or braided with curl preserving products. end result depends on how big your twists or braids are
roller set
hair is sprayed with water and curl cream applied before roller of your choice is added. hair is left to dry usually overnight for springy well formed curls
Brows and Lashes:

Brow Shaping ❤︎︎
in salon or at home
Waxing - every 3 weeks
Threading- every 2-3 weeks
Razor Shaping - weekly
Brow Enhancement ❤︎︎
Tinting - monthly
can be done at home or by pro in the salon
Microblading - every 1-3 years + annual touch ups, exclusively professional work
cosmetic tattooing using a manual tool with nearly invisible hair-like needles to inject pigment in brows to create your desired brow look
Lash Enhancements ❤︎︎
*done exclusively by professionals
Lifts - every 6 weeks
basically a perm for your lashes to curl them semi-permanently for lashes to appear longer
Lash Extensions - new set every 6-8 weeks, fill ins every 2-3 weeks depending on quality and style
false individual strands of lashes glued to natural lashes to create semi-permanent length and/or volume
lash baths: wet lashes and apply a small amount of gentle cleanser or a “lash bath” to lashes. cleanse lashes and eyelids for about 10 seconds. hold a towel under your eye and use a nozzle bottle to flush soap and bacteria from lashes then dry with a disposable lint free towel. finish by brushing your lashes with a spoolie. daily.
Lash Styles:
Classic: one lash on each fan, thin lashes
Volume: fluffier lashes with more lashes on each fan
Hybrid: uses classic and volume lashes to make an alternated look
Russian: volume lashes made with very thin individuals, 5-6 extensions per natural lash, fanned out look
DIY Lash Extensions - lasts about a week (sometimes longer)
lash fragments or individual wisps are glued either under the lashes or on the lash line. KISS Falscara is a product that makes this concept simple and easy

all these services can be done at home with the proper materials and KNOWLEDGE
Classic Manicure ❤︎︎
every 1-2 weeks
nail service that consists of soaking hands in warm soapy water then drying them. nails are trimmed, filed, and buffed. cuticles are pushed back before applying nail polish (base coat, color, top coat), then finally cuticle oil is applied.
nails can be enhanced with rhinestones, glitter, or charms and attached with uv gel or nail glue
my fav styles are pink, cream, white, black and any french tip using those colors
Pedicure ❤︎︎
every 2-4 weeks
sister to the classic manicure, but can be upgraded depending on materials. steps are similar to manicure, except feet are scrubbed and exfoliated before feet are washed and dried to apply nail color
regular polish, acrylic, or gel can be used on toenails
Gel or Shellac Mani ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks
same process as the classic manicure, but traditional nail polish is replaced with uv base coat, gel or CND Shellac polish, then uv top coat that’s cured in a UV or LED lamp
longer lasting and more strong/3d than classic mani and is typically removed by soaking in acetone
Apres Gel-X Nails ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks
my personal fav at home nails using the artme yoko matsuda nails. after doing a classic mani sans polish, you apply a dehydrator and primer to prep nail for gel. then you apply builder gel to your natural nail and cure. then you apply that same builder to the nail extension after etching it using an electric drill or acetone. marry the gel to your nail and cure. then just shape to your liking and top with uv top coat. tutorial here
Acrylic Nails ❤︎︎
every 2-3 weeks, nails are fully grown out after 6 weeks
manicure done with liquid monomer and acrylic powder to build and extend natural nail, then polished with color or just a top coat if desired
Russian Mani ❤︎︎
every 4-5 weeks
essentially a gel manicure, but more invasive. the eponychium is snipped away so polish can be applied more closely and flush to the cuticle. this aids in visuals and longevity
service is seen as risky because the skin is more susceptible to fungal or bacterial infection. this is actually how i do my nails at home.

Bathing ❤︎︎
2x daily
self explanatory, we all know how to bathe. i have other posts that talk about my shower and bath routines.
use a gentle cleanser then a scented body wash to complement perfume and smell fresh all day.
if needed, you can use body soaps with actives like aha, bha or retinol to exfoliate or treat skin at night
exfoliation - 2-3x/week. using scrubs, loofahs, bath brushes, etc.
Hair Removal ❤︎︎
shaving - 2-3x/week
waxing - every 3-5 weeks
sugaring - monthly
ipl device - a device that uses light therapy to slowly destroy hair follicles and unwanted pigment in skin. i use mine after every 5-6 shaves but i could really use it more often.
Vajacial ❤︎︎
1-2x/month
a “facial” for your lady area
the esthetician will first wax, then cleanse and apply an enzyme exfoliant. then they extract any blackheads or ingrown hairs from the area before applying a soothing mask usually in the jelly form.
Moisture and Hydration ❤︎︎
body cream or lotion - daily right after bathing to hydrate skin
body oil - daily to seal in moisture and protect skin from debris and dryness
masks - weekly to address particular skin concerns
ex. when i was having eczema flare ups on my back, i used a dead sea mud mask every 1-2 weeks to help treat it
done at home or at spa
glycolic, clay, mud, salicylic, etc.

the goal is to look younger and balance facial features. all these services are exclusively done by professionals usually in a medspa and are widely considered luxury.
Botox ❤︎︎
every 6-8 months; between brows, smile lines, outer corners of eyes, etc
discourages muscle movement to reduce wrinkles
Lifts ❤︎︎
lasts about 10 years; face, neck, brow, eyelids
skin is lifted to desired look, then excess skin is removed
Fillers ︎❤︎︎
every 6-12 months; under-eye, lips, jawline, wrinkle sites, cheekbones
injects acids (usually naturally occurring) like Hyaluronic Acid and Calcium Hydroxylapatite to add volume to your face
Body Contouring ❤︎︎
every 2-4 months until desired results are achieved
non invasive liposuction to achieve desired physique
CoolSculpting - cryolipolysis freezes fat cells for the body to the metabolize and and remove them
SculpSure - essentially the same as CoolSculpting, but uses heat and laser technology to destroy fat cells
Laser Hair Removal ❤︎︎
every 5-6 weeks; bikini, underarms, legs, arms
touch ups done every 1-2 years
hair growth is inhibited by exposing follicles to light at frequencies that kill them
Building the Regimen 🗒️💕:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ef881192eed8a030c50c22f2f6810d8e/48b4672ecef532f6-93/s540x810/1adf8f0ef999d5e37934b77932661e465ab8fe15.jpg)

when making appointments with your “glam squad” you can stagger your services by week depending on what’s being done. for example you can get your mani and pedi done one week. then your facials, brows and lashes another week.
Things to Keep in Mind 💭💞:
these frequencies won’t be the same for everyone depending on personal wants, budgets, etc. but will most likely land somewhere in the ranges i gave. if you need touch ups or redos any sooner than i mapped out, then the service most likely was of poor quality.
anything done at home may or may not be up to the level of detail and longevity as salon or spa work. if you see yourself doing the majority of your beauty maintenance at home, this can save money but may end up taking more time than professional services. so it’s a give and take.

[ UV Albert Wesker Uroboros & PG67 HCs ]
These take after the knowledge that PG67 contains hastily-added leech genes. This is full of medical jargon related to virology and genetics. It's hard sci-fi styled!
tags: medical:genetic;neurology (hardly);virology;needles (PG67-A/W), cannibalism mention, childhood trauma, body horror, mental decay
Such a far cry from his beginnings... he's truly taken after the man he hates the most.
Unfortunately for Wesker, adding Uroboros in intensely massive quantities to an existing Progenitor-67 infection is a poor choice that makes him spend much of his fight with Chris alternating between pouncing him like a rabid animal and curling like the death throes of a dying spider.
And unfortunately for Chris, Wesker doesn't die when he's left at the volcano to stew in a puddle of himself. Even with the awakened lack of thermophilic qualities as a result of the genetic influence of G, there is enough local flora and fauna to keep him alive... albeit in a subdued state.
Physiological:
Uroboros, combined on the initial foundation of Progenitor 67, takes after Progenitor 67's metabolic inefficiency and drives that far higher than it was ever meant to go in an attempt to sow compatibility.
Due to this, Wesker needs a truly ridiculous amount of calories (~6,000 - ~9,000 kcal/d) to remain fully intelligent.
A lesser amount will generally retain him, though he will experience a plethora of negative symptoms related to starvation (~3,500 - ~5,500 kcal/d).
The very brink of his sanity and humanity will find him lacking if he consumes the average human male's daily caloric intake (~1,800 - ~3,000 kcal/d).
Wesker cannot digest iron bound to salt or any organic chelates except heme (or hemeprotein) as a result of initial Progenitor 67 infection.
Progenitor 67 epigenetically alters his enterocytes. The genes involved with this are the upregulation of HCP1 and the downregulation of DMT1 and, less intensely, Dcytb, and is a result of both Progenitors' own natural leaning and, primarily, the hasty introduction of leech genes when microinjection became available.
This ultimately means that, as time drags on, he begins to find his palate shifts from a lot of power smoothies to meat.
But there is something crucial here: 67% or more of heme iron is lost when you cook meat. That means...
↑ He slowly slips into preferring his meat blue or raw, otherwise he won't be able to properly supplement his need for heme iron.
↑ With the addition of Uroboros, which dethrones and replaces Progenitor, this change persists and couples roughly with his modified caloric needs.
Usually present in brown adipocytes, UCP1 and UCP2 are both overactive as a result of the improper inclusion of Uroboros' gene signalling.
As a result of this, Wesker's natural temperature is hotter than a normal human being's.
He's probably uncomfortably warm to others - almost naturally feverish.
UCP1 and UCP2 cause proton leakage across the mitochondrial membrane - UCP1 being the primary uncoupler regarded in thermogenesis.
↑ As a result of this leak, ATP use is less efficient. This exacerbates his metabolic disorder.
↑ The inclusion of UCP2 upregulation alongside UCP1 was done out of an abundance of caution.
The gluconeogenesis enzyme PEPCK-C, involved in the burning of fat to produce glucose, is overexpressed in dual infection.
While this gives Wesker higher stamina and physical endurance, it comes at the expense of contributing to insulin resistance and is a key player in his bodies' teetering metabolic imbalance.
↑ This is because Uroboros doesn't upregulate and express PEPCK-C in just skeletal muscular cells - it does so where it is already present, too; this is a personal oversight.
↑ PEPCK-M was personally avoided in its' development because it is a popular oncogene.
Uroboros; a monster that eats itself continually without end. It physically presents a sign of Wesker's malingering, endless need to consume across his skin.
Patches of necrotizing, hardening skin and flesh form across his arms and legs in uneven patterns.
Scaly, itchy lesions creep along his cheekbones and the sides of his neck like a corrupted skin flush.
These are a weaker, useless vestigial presentation of the hardening of skin he undergoes when he's being flash-fried by high temperatures.
They're positive for many of the proto-oncogenes related to melanomas and are undoubtedly at least oncogenetic, but aren't strictly cancerous; instead, they're a misguided attempt at defense that vacillates 'on' without facing heat danger.
One of the scars of Wesker's infection and subsequent mutative transformation are hypermelanotic deposits that coat previously-mutated skin in a dark fade.
They start strongest at his fingertips and weaken at the base of his shoulders.
They are also strongest in the center of his chest where his macronuclei is present and taper off approaching his shoulders and abdomen.
His face has some of the same tinting in uneven splotches descending strongest from where he was burned.
Uroboros enhances the strength of many of his bones - more potent the closer to the surface of his body - by fortifying them with calcium and double-thickening them.
As a feature of the beginning stages of Uroboros' starvation, it will begin to leach calcium out of bones and the deposits it creates.
↑ These deposits are not found in the brain or the skull.
When resources are threateningly low, the bones will be stripped for the calcium they uniformly contain, causing him to experience an effect similar to calcium gout / pseudoarthritis, malaise, and brittling.
This leaching undoes itself and becomes re-fortifying under the duress of stress hormones like cholecystokinin and epinephrine. Less specific but still counted in re-fortification is cortisol and norepinephrine.
↑ Re-fortifying can be triggered accidentally through rigorous & sustained physical exercise or copulation.
Epigenetic changes brought on by Progenitor physiologically are stacked upon inappropriately and pseudorandomly by Uroboros like re-patchwork, which leads to a general instability and accidental incorporation of Progenitor's physical defense mechanisms.
This is what ultimately enables him to survive the events of RE5.
Neurological:
Progenitor infection spiraling into his temporal lobes, brain stem, and, minorly, his frontal lobes as years progress are the cause of his irritation and aggression in RE5.
It does this because it has no antimutagenic properties unlike the more developed t-Virus, slowly mutating out of control into a dysfunctional beast as Wesker experiences more and more stress and trauma.
A bit like G in this regard...
His SERT is disrupted by its' presence in the midbrain raphe nuclei along the brain stem.
This causes elevated extracellular serotonin levels initially, followed by receptor downregulation and eventual serotonin deficiency.
The lack of available serotonin leads him to experience, at first, heightened periods of aggression. Later, this becomes mania and even delirium if he forfeits sleep or a PG/67 shot, because...
As time ticks on, his dopamine begins to become dysregulated as well.
This imbalance contributes to mood swings, aggression, and impaired decision-making.
It also leads to a loss of the ability to feel pleasure or joy in things, making him manic and paranoid, taking risks uncharacteristically to feel something, anything.
As Progenitor 67 degrades brain function, particularly areas involved in impulse control and aggression, Wesker experiences the uncontrollable urge to consume.
This leads him to cannibalize interns and people he calculates won't be missed, as well as people who piss him off enough. During this time it does change - and become true - that a misplaced boop! or headpat! might get you killed.
His ego begins to vacillate and strengthen itself in an effort to maintain itself despite his decline. If he can just finish Uroboros, everything will be okay again, he can fix himself...
His brain practically relies on his PG67-A/W dose before he gains Uroboros.
A rapid decline in cognitive and emotional stability when he’s off the dose is present.
It's not unlike sundowning...
You would not want to see his MRIs during this time. They look awful - his brain has lesions and there are parts that are grossly overgrown; there are tiny black specks where Progenitor has gnawed holes in the fabric of him. If he hadn't roped it in, he would probably end up eventually going completely feral from his brain swelling up against the sides of his skull; he'd just become another victim of Cannibal Disease and turn, simply painfully slowly.
Uroboros is not supposed to crawl into the brain. It's supposed to leave it unaffected - but Progenitor having already curdled and spread unchecked into it gives it an opening for opportunistic infection.
It attempts to knit the holes and tamp down overgrown regions, but in doing this, it feeds from a sort of 'genetic template' that restores Wesker's ability to feel and feel greatly. This includes the reactivation (and reanimation) of the greatly disordered regions of his brain responsible for empathy, sleep regulation, attachment, and guilt.
It also cannot perfectly recreate lost tissue or resurrect memories from dead, liquefied tissue, so he retains some of his symptoms, like mood swings.
Rage becomes consuming, hunger becomes voracious, and guilt becomes haunting; he is plagued with an unfortunate (to him) tendency to consider others.
He finds it a prying weakness, but he can no longer tamp it down into nonexistence as he did; he is, essentially, thermally reduced to his Arklay days in behavior. He’s still intelligent and cunning, but he must now wrestle with intense emotional responses that don’t align with his goals at all...
Guilt and empathy are so foreign to him they are nearly out-of-body; he views them clinically and tries to rationalize them away, but his inability becomes the stake that impales him and imparts a malingering sense of conflict.
...and he must take a good, hard, long look at his goals and how far they've diverted from their initial precedence.
... what is he now? What use does he serve in this world - to what master does he heel, clearly dethroned from his position? These questions and more are things he asks himself now.
Is he doomed to roam aimlessly without purpose until he perishes?

hello weskie, you are so cool! here is something i can't stop thinking about! i hope you enjoy!
stars wesker saves someone and they look at him with big round innocent eyes and thank him profusely and he has no idea how to respond because it's giving him a crisis. he backs off really really awkwardly and nods them off and feels... bad for it. bad. he feels... bad.
what? is he going soft? no, of course not, so he shoves it down and continues like he's supposed to. easy. it's nearly automatic, anyways. slap on a smile.
but what was that, anyway?
he goes back to his office later, when the adrenaline has run off, and he is left with a strange empty feeling when he thinks about returning to the lab again under Umbrella and Spencer and Markus' direction. instead of the consuming pleasant numbness, there is a... some deep lack he hasn't felt in so long, since who knows when.
thinking about the last time he felt it makes his brain feel like it's buzzing, so he doesn't scoop it out from the repressed cage it's in.
not yet, anyway. not that there is ever a good time.
the more he thinks about the nice things civilians say to him, the way they look at him, the way they thank him... the feeling of pride he gets when he completes a mission and no life is lost. being thanked and praised and being someone's savior... it makes him feel warm. it makes him feel like he'd got an A on a test, when he'd microinject a cell and the new gene would be accepted...
it's warm, and it glows tiny and steady, and he feels like he's felt this before but he can't place it and he can't trust anyone with it and he must foster it lest it die and leave him feeling that strange emptiness again.
he is being weak, and yet in this weakness he feels like he finally gels and flows like salmon up a river with team alpha, even mingling properly with team bravo. it's beneficial, right?
but he submits some paperwork for umbrella and the crushing weight around him is suffocating, exhausting the flame. unity is strength. never question your authority. compassion is weakness...
compassion is weakness, right?
and then he saves a child.
and the child looks up at him in a defining moment that will never be erased from their psyche as long as they live, the image of the man who saved them a hero they will think of ten years later and wonder how he's doing.
and wesker is struck again with this feeling, but this time it's not just adrenaline pulling his strings loose.
he embraces it. the kid gives him a hug for saving them.
he returns to his office later and sits in his chair and takes his badge out. he stares at it, the expression behind his shades perplexed and confused... and let down... and ashamed, and immiserated by a sudden and intense feeling of emptiness and lack, like a teddy bear missing an eye; incomplete, the tiniest match of the flame of empathy flickering steadily in him because it crossed paths with the desire to succeed and a savior complex.
artificial.
it cannot last, it won't last. wesker has more important things to do; he is temporary. he should get up and cease this pointless–
but wesker sits there and he looks at the cold reflection in that badge. he looks at the lie of a man whose sole seed of truth is planted in the lifesaving actions he takes for others that umbrella would have no qualms killing for their goals.
umbrella would have no qualms killing him for their goals, either.
chris is thrumming on his guitar; wesker can hear the gentle pluck of chords, clumsy and fumbling, self-taught and learning on their own accord, not forced or coerced.
and for what feels like the very first time the thought has a genuine and concerning amount of feeling to it, wesker wonders what it would be like if he could run away from umbrella... if he could leave... what it would be like to learn what you want when you want to, eat what you want when you want to eat it, dream and fulfill yourself.
have a sense of self instead of a sense of cohesion within a hive that will die to serve.
ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
This is so tender and devastating all at once. The idea of Wesker slowly but surely falling into the realization that his life could be more, that there is more than what he was raised into at all of those boarding schools, that his immense talent can be used for good… but knowing defecting could and likely would cost him his livelihood if not his life altogether. I wonder if he ever thought about it. I imagine he would’ve at some point. Defection was already an idea in his head, clearly, when Umbrella operations started going tits up. But to do so to pursue a life in which he is a hero– a real hero, not just for subterfuge– is just *chef’s kiss*. I LOVE the idea of an AU where s.t.a.r.s. wesker was truly good, which might be heavy influence from that good wesker au fic i shared a while back, but i do think it would be so interesting to see. especially considering how it would change his relationships with the series' protagonists
#ask#nshtn#your brain is incredible for this#albert wesker#resident evil#i can almost guarantee this will be giving me brainworms somehow

"To address this issue, we applied both ex vivo and in vivo approaches to rats in which fear memory had been consolidated. A unique form of depotentiation reversed conditioning-induced potentiation at thalamic input synapses onto the LA (T-LA synapses) ex vivo. Extinction returned the enhanced T-LA synaptic efficacy observed in conditioned rats to baseline and occluded the depotentiation. Consistently, extinction reversed conditioning-induced enhancement of surface expression of AMPAR subunits in LA synaptosomal preparations. A GluR2-derived peptide that blocks regulated AMPAR endocytosis inhibited depotentiation, and microinjection of a cell-permeable form of the peptide into the LA attenuated extinction."
Me: ...yeah I'm too stupid for this one.

At work we make our own microinjection needles out of glass capillary tubes. You wake up this beautiful clunky machine which costs around $10,500 for some reason.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/328e64cd16c259ceddd9e3c1ee5e8357/e56d4d12a541adba-bd/s540x810/d0b1756ee76a4b40dce61d0686c2200097d04464.jpg)
Then you carefully and awkwardly line up a tube into the two clamps on opposite sides, while holding the sliders together with your pinkies. Secure the tube into the clamps and, oh oops it wasn't secure. Ok line it up and tighten it again. Ok. Lower the screen so you don't damage your eyes from the white hot metal and press Pull.
The machine heats the glass and pulls the two sides apart until the tube splits in two, creating two needles sharp enough to pierce a cell membrane without damaging it. You can use these to inject 0.000,000,5ml or 0.000,001ml of liquid into an embryo. You cannot see the tip with the naked eye. The tip is so thin it bends a bit if you press on it. It will break if you look at it wrong. Now very very carefully loosen the clamps and remove your needle without damaging the ultra-sharp incredibly fragile tip. And place it into your very scientific holder: a petri dish with modeling clay in it.
Having the needles be the same size is not necessary, but I like when I line it up just right so they're exactly even. It's harder than it looks! I think I did my best job yet today.

What Is IVF? IVF Treatment In India
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a procedure that involves fertilizing an egg with sperm in a laboratory dish and then returning the developed embryo to the woman's uterus.
IVF is a type of assisted reproductive technology (ART). It can be used with a couple's own eggs and sperm, or with eggs and sperm from donors. It is a common treatment for infertility due to a variety of causes, including endometriosis, male factor, and unexplained infertility.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c3a7154f93692c23dfd2bb4829116dec/31b2e7cf7411a767-d2/s540x810/ea695450084a9eda125992651688e91fb9f374c6.jpg)
How this procedure works?
IVF is a complicated process with many steps. On average, you can expect the process to last four to six weeks. This includes the time before egg retrieval, when a person takes fertility medication until they’re tested for pregnancy.
Ovarian stimulation: The first step in IVF is taking fertility medications to help your ovaries produce several eggs that are mature and ready for fertilization. This is called ovulation induction. You may get regular ultrasounds or blood tests to measure your hormone levels and keep track of your egg production.
Egg retrieval: Once your ovaries have produced enough mature eggs, your doctor removes the eggs from your body. Egg retrieval is a minor surgical procedure that’s done at your doctor’s office or at a fertility clinic.
You’ll get medicine to help you feel relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. Using an ultrasound to see inside your body, the doctor puts a thin, hollow tube through your vagina and into the ovary and follicles that hold your eggs. The needle is connected to a suction device that gently pulls the eggs out of each follicle.
Embryo culture: In a lab, your eggs are mixed with sperm cells from your partner or a donor this is called insemination. The eggs and sperm are stored together in a special container, and fertilization happens. For sperm that have lower motility, they may be injected directly into the eggs to promote fertilization. As the cells in the fertilized eggs divide and become embryos, people who work at the lab monitor the progress.
Embryo transfer: About 3-5 days after the egg retrieval, 1 or more embryos are put into your uterus. The following embryo transfers are most commonly performed.
Fresh embryo transfer: This procedure is the most common when an IVF cycle is performed for the first time. This transfer is done shortly after fertilization is completed. On egg retrieval day, microinjection is done and doctor will inform you about the number of fertilized embryos on day 1 after the egg retrieval. For example, if 12 mature eggs are retrieved, doctors microinject the sperm on 12 mature eggs, this is day zero. One day after the egg retrieval day is day 1 of embryos. On this day doctors will inform you about the number of embryos that reached day 1. Doctor transfers embryo/s three or five days after the egg retrieval. During these days, they expect the embryos to be compact, developed to 8th cell and blastocyst stage.
After the most quality and success- promising embryo is chosen, the embryo is placed into a woman’s uterus with a catheter. The fertility doctor uses ultrasound to guide the procedure. This procedure is very similar to a pap smear simple and non-invasive. There is no need to use sedation or anaesthesia during embryo transfer, but doctors can perform it per patient’s request.
Frozen embryo transfer: This type of embryo transfer is specific for an IVF cycle that is not performed for the first time. Usually, after the first IVF cycle, if there are several embryos that can successfully develop into a healthy pregnancy, some of them can be frozen and available for future use. The procedure of the transfer itself does not differ much from the previous one. For frozen embryo transfer, the woman does not need to use hormonal injections.
Transfer of embryo in the blastocyst stage: In certain cases, the transfer of an embryo in the blastocyst stage is more recommended. Those cases are usually couples who have experienced implantation failures. Transfer of embryo in the blastocyst stage can increase the chances of a successful pregnancy because it shows us that the embryos are visual quality and can develop well until day five (blastocyst stage).
Embryo transfer with performed Assisted Hatching (AH): This is also a type of embryo transfer that is recommended for cases with implantation failure. For this transfer, the embryo has to undergo a procedure of weakening the outer layer, which will help with its conceiving and implantation. This procedure is usually recommended as an addition when the transfer of a frozen embryo is about to be performed.
Pregnancy: It happens if any of the embryos attach to the lining of your uterus. Embryo transfer is done at your doctor’s office or at a fertility clinic, and it’s usually not painful.
You may have to take pills or get daily shots of a hormone called progesterone for the first 8-10 weeks after the embryo transfer. The hormones make it easier for the embryo to survive in your uterus.
What you can expect after IVF treatment
After embryo transfer you may feel some symptoms.
Mild Cramping or Bloating
Breast Tenderness
Fatigue
Frequent Urination
Mood Swings
Severe Cramping or Heavy Bleeding
Fever and Vomiting
Shortness of Breath
What is the success rate of IVF in India?
India has become a renowned destination for fertility treatments, including IVF, due to its combination of advanced medical facilities, experienced doctors, and relatively lower costs compared to many other countries.
Success rate in the good IVF centres in India are as follows:
70-80% for women under 35
30-35% for women aged 35-37
20-25% for women aged 38-40
10-15% for women over 40
For women who have not able to give her own eggs, then using donor eggs can significantly increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. Donor egg IVF success rates are generally higher than those using a woman’s own eggs, especially for older women.
Donor egg IVF success rates typically range from 50-75% per cycle, regardless of the recipient’s age. This is because the eggs come from young, healthy donors, usually between the ages of 21 and 34.
Factors contributing to IVF’s success
Age and IVF success: The probability of a successful IVF pregnancy generally decreases with age. Younger women typically have higher success rates compared to those over 40. However, factors like overall well-being and medical history are also crucial.
Quality of eggs and embryos: The quality of eggs and embryos is a critical determinant of IVF success. Factors such as age, egg count, medications, and sperm quality play a significant role. Higher-quality eggs and embryos boost the successful outcome.
Lifestyle factors: Lifestyle habits, including smoking, alcohol consumption, and maintaining a healthy weight, can impact IVF success. Adopting healthier lifestyle choices can enhance the chances of achieving a successful pregnancy.
Infertility causes: The specific causes of infertility, such as ovarian dysfunction, secondary infertility, abdominal issues, or fibroids, can greatly influence IVF outcomes. The duration and success of treatment vary based on these underlying conditions.
Donor eggs option: In cases where a woman’s eggs are not viable, the use of donor eggs can substantially increase the chances of success. Although it involves additional costs, this option provides a valuable alternative for achieving pregnancy.
Role of sperm quality: Sperm quality is also a key factor in IVF success. Men facing fertility issues should consult a specialist to explore ways to improve sperm health, which can positively impact the IVF process.
Impact of past miscarriages or failed IVF: Previous miscarriages or failed IVF attempts may negatively influence future results. However, moving forward with a positive outlook and confidence in the process can help.
Sticking to medication plan: Stick to your prescribed medication plan to produce healthy eggs. Consistent medication use is essential for hormone regulation and egg development. Customized treatment plans from skilled doctors can greatly boost your chances of IVF success, as they are tailored to your unique needs and conditions. Regular monitoring and adjustments by your medical team ensure that your treatment is on the right track.
How much this treatment cost in India?
The cost of IVF treatment in India can range from ₹90,000 to ₹5,00,000 or more, depending on several factors:
Clinic location: The cost of IVF varies depending on the location of the clinic.
Pre-Treatment Tests: The cost of diagnostic tests and screenings conducted before IVF treatment can contribute to the overall expense.
Inclusions in the Package: The comprehensiveness of the Best IVF In Delhi NCR package, including services like Egg Retrieval, Embryo Transfer, Ultrasound Scans, and professional charges, can vary among different clinics.
Additional procedures: The cost of IVF can increase if additional procedures are required, such as ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), pre-implantation genetic testing, or embryo freezing and storage.
Number of cycles: Many patients require more than one cycle to achieve pregnancy, which can increase the total cost.
Type of IVF: The cost of IVF can vary depending on whether it's performed with self-eggs or sperm, donor eggs or sperm, or embryo donation.
Medications: Medications are typically not included in the base cost of IVF treatment and can add an additional cost
FAQs related to IVF treatment in India
When is IVF needed?
IVF is done when there are issues related to conceiving a child due to blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis or any other unknown reason for infertility in both the mother and the father. The procedure depends on the overall review and history of the couple.
How is IVF done?
IVF procedure involves collecting mature eggs from the ovaries and then fertilizing them by sperm in a specialized lab. After doing so, the fertilized egg (embryo) is transplanted to a uterus. One complete cycle of IVF takes around three weeks. Depending on the specific case, these steps are sometimes splitted into several parts and the process can take longer.
Are IVF babies healthy?
IVF is a very safe and effective procedure. The babies conceived via IVF become healthy adults both mentally and physically.
Is IVF process painful?
Overall, the IVF procedure causes no pain instead mild discomforts are felt. Some steps in the IVF process such as ovulation induction and fertilization are completely painless. However, during egg retrieval stage, you will be sedated not to feel the pain. After the egg retrieval procedure, you may have some menstrual cramps. During embryo transfer, the syringe deposits the embryo into your uterus via a vaginal catheter, hence mild discomfort could be felt but there will be no pain.
How much time does the entire IVF procedure require?
It requires approximately 3-6 weeks depending upon the review of the couple and the type of therapy they are having. It starts with the administration of fertility drugs for a couple of days to induce ovulation along with continuous monitoring by ultrasound or hormonal profiling.
What is the cost of IVF treatment?
Costs of IVF depend on several factors. The age of the woman, medical condition, the area you are getting treated from and the level of expertise of your doctor. Generally speaking, IVF treatments range from INR 90,000 to INR 5,00,000 for one complete cycle and these prices include follow-ups, additional tests and medication.
Does insurance cover the cost of IVF?
Unfortunately, insurance policies usually do not cover the expenses of infertility treatments, including IVF. These treatments are typically considered elective and not categorized as medically necessary, resulting in limited or no insurance coverage for IVF costs. However, check with your insurance provider for details and confirmation.

Face Mesotherapy: Benefits and Side Effects
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0d3ae15ff037f3fc650882adea44af7f/56668727547bc460-46/s540x810/41e3382afa79be0f0400c882115f3f9cca809742.jpg)
In the ever-evolving world of skincare, Face Mesotherapy has emerged as a revolutionary treatment for achieving radiant, youthful skin. This non-invasive cosmetic procedure has gained popularity for addressing a wide range of skin concerns, from pigmentation to fine lines. If you're curious about this trending treatment, let’s explore its benefits, potential side effects, and essential details, including mesotherapy for face cost in India.
What is Face Mesotherapy?
Face Mesotherapy, often referred to as Meso treatment for the face, involves the injection of vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and plant extracts into the middle layer of the skin (mesoderm). These microinjections are tailored to address specific skin concerns such as hydration, pigmentation, and signs of ageing. Unlike invasive procedures, Mesotherapy offers a natural boost, rejuvenating the skin from within.
Benefits of Face Mesotherapy
Here are some potential benefits of Face Mesotherapy:
1. Improves Skin Hydration
The microinjections deliver hyaluronic acid and vitamins directly into the skin layers, providing intense hydration. This makes the skin appear plumper and more radiant.

Hair Mesotherapy in India: A Breakthrough for Hair Loss Treatment
Hair loss can be a significant concern, affecting self-confidence and leading people to search for effective solutions. One such advanced treatment is Hair Mesotherapy. In recent years, this procedure has gained considerable popularity in India due to its promising results and non-surgical approach. For individuals looking to restore their hair growth with minimal downtime, Hair Mesotherapy offers a unique option that's both effective and accessible.
In this blog, we will dive into what Hair Mesotherapy is, how it works, and why seeking out the best cosmetologists and top dermatologists in India can help you achieve the best results.
What is Hair Mesotherapy?
Hair Mesotherapy is a non-invasive, therapeutic procedure designed to deliver active ingredients directly to the scalp. It involves a series of microinjections containing nutrients, vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes tailored to promote hair regrowth and restore scalp health. Unlike oral supplements or topical treatments that may not fully penetrate the scalp, Mesotherapy deposits these nutrients directly where they’re most needed.

How Does Hair Mesotherapy Work?
1. Assessment by the Specialist: Initially, the dermatologist or cosmetologist assesses your hair type, scalp condition, and hair loss pattern. This helps in customizing the Mesotherapy blend for your specific needs.
2. Application of Injections: During the procedure, tiny injections are administered to the scalp. The goal is to stimulate blood flow, increase collagen production, and encourage the hair follicles to grow stronger and healthier.
3. Boosted Nutrient Absorption: The nutrients delivered directly to the hair roots help in reversing miniaturization of the hair follicle, thus improving hair thickness and density.
4. Minimally Invasive with Minimal Downtime: Mesotherapy is usually quick and causes minimal discomfort, with most patients returning to normal activities immediately after the treatment.

Benefits of Hair Mesotherapy in India
1. Non-Surgical and Minimal Downtime: This treatment doesn’t involve surgery, so there’s no need for extended downtime or recovery.
2. Tailored for Indian Hair and Scalp Needs: Many top dermatologists in India specialize in creating Mesotherapy blends suited to Indian hair textures and environmental factors, making the treatment more effective.
3. Increases Blood Circulation to Hair Follicles: Improved circulation means better nutrient absorption, resulting in a noticeable improvement in hair health over time.
4. Safe and Effective: When performed by qualified dermatologists or cosmetologists, Hair Mesotherapy is generally safe with few side effects.
5. Boosts Hair Density and Thickness: After several sessions, many patients experience an increase in hair density and improved thickness, which are key indicators of healthy hair growth.
