Giraffe's Eye View: Christmas Specials Special (2023) | Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
Chestnuts are roasting on an open fire. Jack Frost is nipping at your nose. Mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again. All the dogs in the neighborhood somehow learned to bark Jingle Bells in sync. Yet retail workers are still more annoyed with Mariah Carey. Snow is getting shoveled, tossed, and formed into sentient beings leading parades without permits. It makes for an excellent distraction as the Krampus abducts children for bad behavior. Fruitcake is exchanged only to find its permanent home in the garbage. Terrorists have hijacked the Holiday office party right before your boss can give you a Jelly of the Month Club membership as your bonus. And of course, the Turducken has returned to wreak its fiery vengeance upon an unsuspecting world! If all this doesn’t put you in the Christmas spirit, perhaps these following Holiday specials will!
Greetings people of today and robots of tomorrow! It is I, Santa Clark, your geeky giraffe friend with a deep love of Christmas! My obsession for the yuletide is rivaled only by Maleficent’s hatred for it, which is saying a lot considering she once teamed up with Mad Madam Mim to kidnap the literal Spirit of Christmas. Yes, that really happened. I know this due to my annual pilgrimage to the Island of Misfit Specials, home to obscure or nerdy festive media ranging from movies, TV episodes, and comics. It’s no easy journey. Constantly I find myself confronted by sinister snowmen, genocidal gingerbread men, and worst of all, crappy commercials. Getting stabbed in the foot by a candy-cane wielding cookie is one thing, but I swear I’ve seen that ad for Wilbur’s White Elephant Gift Emporium more times than I’ve seen Miracle on 34th Street! Sometimes at night I catch myself reciting that jingle. Wilbur’s White Elephant Gift Emporium: Where Christmas meets Convenience! Huh, maybe Maleficent had a point.
Nah, my deep-rooted appreciation for this time of year can weather even the most moronic marketing! It helps that most of the merry media I’ve seen have put me in the perfect Holiday mood! Examples include the time a Ninja Turtle found himself trapped in a truck full of stollen toys, a drunk department store Santa stumbling onto a wish-granting magic bag, Big Bird nearly becoming a popsicle, Gwenpool waking up in a world where Galactus took the place of jolly ol’ Saint Nicholas, a terrifying tree stump trying to slaughter some saps over a stupid ship war, and the year when Death gave the Little Match Girl the greatest gift of all. Needless to say, I thought I had seen it all. That is, until I took my friends on a trip to the Island, tasking them to find me new, strange, seasonal specials to review! Some of them were fair, finding me festive favorites as comforting as coco in front of the fireplace. Others were fiendish, wanting to feed off my misery like Gremlins after midnight. Regardless of how naughty or nice my companions were, I’ve compiled all of their suggestions into a makeshift advent calendar! So stay tuned everyday until Christmas to see how badly my buddies can shred what little sanity I have left.
On the fourteenth day of Christmas, my buddies gave to me...
Tumblr media
One of my oldest memories is watching Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas with my family every year when I was younger. Little Clark always got excited when his mom popped that tape into the VCR. There was always something so magical about this movie that drew me in each December. If nothing else it was one of the few highlights in Disney’s direct-to-video catalog. Much as I could complain about the follow ups to The Little Mermaid, Mulan, or Brother Bear, I’d gladly take any of these turds over the live-action remakes any day. Especially when said sequels exceeded expectations every so often. This festive anthology is such an example. Honestly, it's a wonder why I haven’t talked about it until now. Thank goodness the totally tubular Tiger (AnimatedTigerGirl) gave me an excuse to do so. Without any further ado, let’s see what awaits us under the tree.
Nestled neatly beneath an immaculate evergreen are three special presents; a boat, a teddy bear, and a miniature sleigh. Each represents an original short, the first being Donald Duck: Stuck on Christmas. Actually, putting the foul-tempered foul’s name in the title is a bit misleading since the story actually focuses on Huey, Dewey, and Louie (Russi Taylor). Like most kids on Christmas, they wake up early to eagerly tear into the presents, ignore their relatives in favor of playing with their new toys, then end the day by pigging out on a traditional turkey dinner. Wait, turkey?! Good lord, they’re cannibals! Between this and Woodstock from A Charlie Brown Christmas, my current theory is that all animated avifauna are anthropologists! Seriously, why is this a recurring trend in media? Another common cliche utilized is wishing upon a star, the boys begging for Christmas everyday. You fools! This is a Disney movie, doing that’s actually effective here! And unlike Timmy Turner or Elmo, these birdbrains end up with the same exact Christmas. It’s like Groundhog Day, minus the suicide montage. Instead we get Uncle Donald (Tony Anselmo) butchering breakfast, sloppy kisses from Aunt Gertie (Tress MacNeille), and Scrooge (Alan Young) singing hoaky carols on the piano. Give the geezer a break boys, these three ghosts gave him a hard time about being a humbug. No carols equals chains for the rest of his afterlife. Whether that’d be worse than experiencing the same day on loop is up for debate. Either way the boys quickly become bored getting stuck in a constant rerun. Not even adding their typical brand of mischief helps, so eventually they elect to plan a perfect Christmas for everybody. They even sacrifice the sleds gifted from Donald to craft him a crude one-man boat. A boat that falls apart almost immediately. Like the song says, he gets stuck with all the bad luck. Overall, Stuck on Christmas is fine, if not a tad repetitive. You’ve seen this type of tale told a million times before and know exactly what to expect. It’s not bad by any means, a lot of the jokes landing perfectly. Still, out of the three plots presented, this is the weakest one.
Fortunately A Very Goofy Christmas makes up for that! Max (Shaun Fleming) is confronted by a conflict of faith when his neighbor Pete (Jim Cummings) declares that Santa isn’t real. Pete, this is exactly why Peg packed up and left with the kids! How can you shatter a child’s dreams like that? Oh right, cuz like Yamai Ren and Lord Zedd, you have a permanent place on the Naughty List. Serves you right for kidnapping Minnie for all those years. Still, his words sting Max, much to the dismay of his father Goofy (Bill Farmer). Like always he’s the best cartoon dad, comforting his son as best he can while also providing a hot meal for his struggling neighbors. Y’know, whenever he’s not wrecking a mall or burning his butt. The absurdity of Goofy escaping a giant ornament Indiana Jones style balances out nicely with the drama centered around his son’s dilemma. It all comes to a boil when Max catches his pop pretending to be Santa, prompting the dippy dog to prove that the festive fatman isn’t a fake. All of his attempts fail, even sending him flailing off the roof. By then Max doesn’t care, just wanting his old man to smile again. Thus he turns the tables and dresses up like Kris Kringle to fool his father, nearly falling off the roof himself. In the end they embrace, happy that they have each other regardless of whether Santa exists or not. Given this is a cartoon produced by Disney though, Saint Nick naturally shows up to give Max a snowboard before burying Pete’s house in snow. A perfect ending to my favorite segment. Granted, Goofy is one of my all time favorite characters, so I might be biased here. Still, having been harassed over my own belief in Santa makes this story very relatable to me. The fact that Goofy nearly catches pneumonia trying to convince his son that there’s still magic in the world hits me right in the feels. Out of these three plotlines, this one’s easily the best.
In a close second is our last segment, Mickey and Minnie's Gift of the Magi. Both Mickey (Wayne Allwine) and Minnie (Taylor) are dreaming of giving each other the perfect present. Problem is neither of them have any money. A relatable conundrum if ever there was one. Each of them try to earn more at their crappy jobs, Mickey working for Pete as his tree lot while Minnie wraps packages at a department store. Sadly the former gets fired for helping a family find a cheaper tree as opposed to his boss’s ridiculously overpriced ten-footers. Again Pete, you should know better. What family actually wants a tree that tall? Asides from the Griswolds, I mean. Imagine the hassle trying to decorate the darn thing. I say as if he cares. Pete’s so furious he steals Mickey’s tips, which I’m pretty sure is illegal. Though the blow heart's gonna need that money after he sets his forest on fire. Maybe now that family can afford those ten footers! Things aren’t much better for Minnie, her boss Mortimer (Jeff Bennett) giving her a fruitcake as a bonus. Minnie proceeds to loudly declare him to be a heartless, brainless, dickless, fatass piece of monkey shit. Hallelujah! She then walks home with a fruitcake, no job, and in need of Tylenol. Left with no other options, both give up what they value most in order to give the other a gift, a scene that’s as sweet as it sounds. Adding to the cuteness is Wayne and Russi’s performance as the duo, the two having actually been married in real life. It’s killing me with cuteness! The only reason I don’t consider this the best of the lot is because of the admittedly simplistic story. Goofy trying to catch Claus was just more compelling to me. Regardless, Gift of the Magi is the perfect conclusion to this trilogy of shorts. That is if all the characters didn’t come together to sing a medley of merry tunes.
Here’s how you can tell someone watched something way too often: when they can sing along to the SheDAISY rendition of “Deck the Halls" that plays over the credits. Like I said, this was a seasonal staple in my house when I was younger and still is to this day. The same sadly can’t be said for Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, but that’s a story for another day. For now, I hope I’ve expressed just how much this movie fills me with joy! It’s made so many wonderful memories for my family and I over the years. Just like I hope it will with my children, and their children, and their children after that. Regardless of what you watch this year, go make some memories with the people you love.
But seriously though, NO MORE NUTCRACKERS!

MICKEY’S ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS TIME PARADE 2019 PREDICTIONS
unit by unit, in order. exactly what i did for boo to you.
INTRO
i doubt anything will change here, it’s all pretty classic 50s/60s characters i don’t think they’d add anyone
FROZEN
now with the new movie coming out at the end of the month, i could see them putting the characters in those costumes... it would be nice to see them in their christmas costumes too. it seems they already have the costumes for frozen 2 appearing at disneyland paris
Tumblr media
SWEETS
i don’t see anything changing...
PRINCESSES AND PRINCES
no i don’t think they’ll add or get rid of anyone here either...
TOY STORY
WELL WELL WELL we will definitely have changes here...
first of all, they’re most definitely getting rid of THIS HORRIFYING CREATURE
Tumblr media
i mean i don’t see why they wouldn’t, but i’m just wondering if she’ll be wearing her blue clothes from the redesign or if she’ll have a new outfit with the original dress or maybe the blue with the skirt i don’t know but she’s definitely not gonna look like this anymore i don’t know what’s going on with that one it doesn’t even look like how she looked in the first 2
Tumblr media
i’d say option 2 is the most probable but 3 or 4 could be a possibility as well...
now something else weird here that i think they’ll change is that the float itself doesn’t even have buzz on it? i swear he was in this parade is this a mandela effect i have no idea BUT since they added them to boo to you this year it would make sense to add him to ouact as well... even more sense actually since woody jessie bo peep and bullseye are all in it. maybe take the army man off the float and replace him with buzz and have the army man walking in front with bo and the elves?
FINALE
they definitely won’t change anything here this part is so iconic... the soldiers, the reindeer, santa... they’re not changing anything here
SO that’s my predictions for this year’s parade, not as much to go off of as bty since a lot of things for bty were announced before the parties started. also i realized this parade has less units than bty but more floats? interesting...

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
Anyone up for some CS Christmas fluff? Well, here you go!!!
Tumblr media
Make Me Look Good
A CS Christmas fic
AN: This fic is inspired by the Disney Christmas Movie, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas: Christmas Maximus. The song at the beginning is sung to Goofy by his son Max and it occured to me that the entire scenario in the movie could also be applied to Liam, Killian, and Emma. Thus, this fic was born. All the love to @winterbaby89 and @profdanglaisstuff for beta services and to @imagnifika for the use of her gif in my artwork.

Under the cut, unless Tumblr ate it.
I gotta boatload of butterflies in my belly
I’m short of breath with legs of jelly
Feel like I’m floating about five feet off the ground
So I’ve got to ask for just one big favor
That my dad be on his best behavior
When he sees the two of us around
I’m gonna try to face the holidays fearlessly
And I hope he’ll do his best not to embarrass me.
Make me look good
Make me shine
If you make me look good
I just might get to make her mine
Make me look good
You have a tendency to frustrate me
Seems that you humiliate me
Every single time you get the chance.
Is it any wonder that I’m so frantic
What with all your crazy antics
Ruining all my chances for romance?
I don’t expect you to become suddenly dignified
Could you just try to prove that you are on my side
Make me look good
Make me shine
If you make me look good
I just might get to make her mine
Make me look good.
I only wanted to make a good impression
Now I must make a confession
Wish I hadn’t acted selfishly
I guess I should apologize to you
After all you filled my life with laughter
No doubt about it you’ve been so good to me.
I don’t know why I was so worried
‘Cause strange but true
You’re my one and only dad
And I’m so proud of you
You made me look good
You made me shine
You made me look so good
It looks like I’m gonna make her mine
You made me look good
Everything’s fine
You made me look so good
It looks like I’m gonna make her mine
You made me look good.

Liam Jones was taking one last circuit through the house, mentally checking off the list he had made when his little brother Killian had called home from college the week before.
“Liam?”
“Hey, Killy!”
“Killian! Call me Killian, Liam. Please!”
“Killian,” he acquiesced. “It’s good to hear from you, little brother.”
“Younger brother,” Killian mumbled.
“Yes, younger brother,” he agreed, “Sorry, Killian. When are you coming home for Christmas?”
“Ah,” he could almost see Killian scratching behind his ear sheepishly, “that’s what I was calling about. See, ah, I was hoping to bring someone with me.”
“Oh really,” Liam exclaimed, breaking into a wide grin of delight that he was sure his brother could hear over the miles.
Killian chuckled, “Aye, brother. Her name is Emma and she’s in my Economics class. We’ve been study partners this semester. She doesn’t have any family to go home to for the holiday. She’d be spending it here in the dorm, so I invited her to join us. I hope that’s not a problem.”
“No, of course not, Killian,” Liam laughed, “She can stay in the guest bedroom.”
He could hear Killian’s sigh of relief. “Good! Yes! Thank you!” His relief was palpable through the line. “Uhh,” he stuttered, “there’s something else, Liam. I really like her, okay? I want her to have a good time, but I also want to ask her out. And having my brother call me ‘Killy’ or ‘little brother’ isn’t exactly conducive to...”
“Say no more, brother,” he assured, “I will be on my best behavior and will do my best to make you look good in the eyes of your lady love.”
“Thank you, Liam,” Killian replied, sincerely.
After chatting for a little while longer and ascertaining the day, time, and location of their arrival, the brothers hung up.
After making sure that everything was in order for their arrival, Liam left to pick Killian and Emma up at the airport.
~*~*~
“There it is,” Emma called, just before he saw her bright yellow duffle bag come around the corner of the luggage carousel. Killian lunged for it and slung it over his shoulder before Emma had a chance to grab it herself. “So now you’re gonna be a gentleman,” she groused good naturedly, with no real heat behind her feigned annoyance.
“I’m always a gentleman, Swan,” he replied, waggling his eyebrows at her. He reached behind himself and grabbed his rolling suitcase before holding his other elbow out for her to take. She shot him a smirk and looped her arm through his.
“Killian,” a voice boomed ahead of them. “Welcome home, li- uh, brother,” he quickly corrected himself.
A parade of emotions made their way across Killian’s face. Surprise, embarrassment, and finally awkward bashfulness mixed with gratefulness settled in his visage as his cheeks and the top of his ears flamed red. “And that,” he began, “is my brother, Liam.” Emma squeezed his arm while they continued walking toward the overjoyed man.
Killian had told her all about the older brother who had raised him once his mother passed away when he was 13. Liam had just turned 22 and graduated college, so he was able to take custody of his “little” brother. She remembered the way he had rolled his eyes when he had told her. He had gone on to tell her how Liam was always there for him and made sure that he had everything he needed as he grew up, but still taught him the values of hard work, and love for family. Things that their father had taught him before he passed away when Killian was only a toddler.
Standing before Killian’s hero now, she watched as the brothers embraced warmly before two pairs of blue eyes turned to her. “Liam, I’d like you to meet,” Killian began.
“And you must be Emma,” Liam interrupted, greeting her, while grasping her hand in both of his. “It’s wonderful to finally meet the woman who helped this guy pass economics.”
Emma blushed, cutting her eyes toward Killian, who was furiously scratching behind his ear. “Oh, more like it was the other way around,” she laughed. “I couldn’t make heads or tails of supply and demand or macro versus micro economics until Killian started studying with me.”
“Don’t sell yourself short, Swan,” he replied. “You helped me just as much as I helped you. If not more.”  She could get lost in his cerulean gaze if she let herself, so she bashfully ducked her head, breaking the spell.
“Well, we are very glad you were able to join us for Christmas, Emma,” Liam acknowledged, grabbing Killian’s suitcase and leading them toward the parking lot. “I’ve gathered all of Killian’s favorites,” he continued, “and he’s informed me of your penchant for hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and cinnamon.” Liam looked over at her with a grin and a wink. “So I made sure I have all the necessary ingredients.” Emma couldn’t help the wide smile that broke over her face at his revelation. She turned back to Killian, her countenance morphing into a shy smile and knocked her shoulder into his.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she protested weakly, nearly in a whisper.
“Of course I did, Swan,” he maintained, knocking his own shoulder into hers. “We wanted to make sure you felt perfectly comfortable in our home.”
“I’m sure I will. Thank you, Killian.”
Arriving at the car, Killian opened the door for Emma before depositing himself in the back for the ride home.
~*~*~
Christmas Eve had arrived.
Liam had kept his word and had done nothing to embarrass Killian in the nearly two weeks since he and Emma had arrived home for Christmas. As far as he could tell, Emma had had a good time. They had done all the touristy things that Killian hadn’t done since he’d gone on junior high field trips and Emma had never done, having never visited Boston before. Liam had saved the decorating of the tree and the exterior of the house until they arrived. The lack of snow so far this season had put a bit of a damper on the decorating, but Liam simply shrugged his shoulders and cranked up the Christmas music until Emma and Killian joined him in the very loud renditions of classic Christmas songs and carols as they worked. The evenings were filled with Christmas movies, hot chocolate and popcorn, and lots of laughter. Emma was fitting right in with him and Liam, and Killian couldn’t be happier.
Killian climbed the steps to the front porch of the house after doing some last minute Christmas shopping. Peering through the picture window into the den and the kitchen beyond he saw Emma sitting on the counter swinging her legs, while Liam stood at the stove working on their dinner. Emma was laughing at something he said and Killian smiled at the scene.
He could see the sparkle in her eyes from where he stood and his heart swelled with affection for the beautiful girl that held his heart in her hands. He was so happy to see her so happy. It had taken most of the semester to get to where their friendship stood today. She was slow to trust. Slow to let someone behind the emotional walls she had built around her heart. Being abandoned as a baby and bouncing around the foster system during your formative years would do that to you. Now that he had been privileged to see the real Emma Swan behind the strong, prickly exterior she showed most of the world, he would happily remain hers for the rest of his days. He just hoped that bringing her home, introducing her to Liam, and showing her a good time around Boston would further soften her heart toward him so that when he finally worked up the courage to ask her out, she’d agree.
The shy glances and her close proximity when they watched movies in the evening suggested that she might be interested in taking their friendship to the next level, but the thought of her possible rejection was enough to get the butterflies swirling in his belly and cause him to chicken out on more than one occasion. But on the Freedom Trail last week, Killian had seen something in a display window that he was sure would help him overcome his nerves and actually ask Emma out on a real date. The thought of her reaction had a smile lifting his lips as he opened the door to the house.
Laughter and the smell of apples and cinnamon tickled his senses as he made his way into the house. Removing his coat, scarf, and hat, he hung them on the coat tree in the foyer and made his way into the kitchen. “Did you find what you were looking for, brother?” Liam asked, turning away from where the hot wassail punch was simmering.
“Yes, I did,” he began, turning his eyes on Emma and waggling his brows at her. A grin split her face as she hopped down off the island and made a beeline for where he stood.
“Did you get something for me,” she exclaimed, reaching for his arms as he spun out of her grasp.
“Maybe,” he replied, laughing at her playful reaches and grabs for him as he stayed just out of her reach. He led her on a merry chase around the kitchen and the sofa in the den before he nearly collided with Liam, slowing him down enough that Emma was able to tackle him, landing on top of him as he hit the floor with an “oof.” The twinkling lights from the decorated tree projected a warm halo on her porcelain skin as he stared into her eyes. Her lips parted into a soft O as she stared right back at him. Killian was spellbound as laughter was replaced by awareness in their emerald depths. Without even realizing it, his hand tangled in her golden locks as her head lowered towards his and eyelids fluttered closed in anticipation when a sharp clearing of a throat broke the spell they were under.
They both startled and turned toward Liam who was settling himself down in his favorite chair. “Maybe if we turn on White Christmas, it’ll snow,” he groused, glancing speculatively in their direction.
Emma scrambled off him and dusted herself off avoiding his eyes as he turned toward Liam who just shrugged his shoulders and grinned, not looking sorry in the least. Killian’s cheeks and ears flamed at the thought of what might have happened if Liam hadn’t interrupted. The look in her eyes, the openness, the vulnerability, took his breath away. All he had wanted to do this semester was to be her friend, get behind her walls and get her to open up to him. And now, the trust and affection he saw in her eyes made it all worthwhile.
Emma had settled on one side of the sofa and given the nerves that he could feel rolling off her, he took the opposite end. She turned apologetic eyes toward him as he got himself settled and Liam pulled up the movie. Killian shot her a reassuring smirk before deciding that White Christmas needed wassail punch and popcorn.
When he arrived back with their snacks, he sat more toward the middle of the sofa instead of the end. Settling back into the cushions, he placed his arm across the back of the sofa and could just touch her shoulder with her hair cascading over his arm. As the movie progressed, Emma inched closer to him, until by the time the General was entering the dining room for his Christmas surprise, she was fully snuggled into his side, with his arm around her shoulders. The peace and contentment of Christmas washed over him as he held the girl he loved in his arms and gazed out the picture window the tree was partially obscuring. Fat, soft flakes were drifting down from the sky. It was already accumulating on the ground. A grin broke out on his face as he squeezed Emma’s shoulders and brought her attention to the falling snow.
“It’s finally snowing!” Liam exclaimed, jumping to his feet and heading for the front door. “Looks like my plan worked!” He turned toward the couple on the sofa. “Coming?” he asked.
Killian looked down at Emma. Her face was radiant as she shook her head. “We’ll be out once the movie’s over.” The opening strands of “White Christmas” with the entire cast was just beginning. Liam bundled up and headed out into the winter wonderland.
Bob Wallace was opening his knight on a white charger from Betty when Killian reached in his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. Emma’s eyes widened in surprise as he whispered “Merry Christmas, Swan.”
“But I didn’t get you anything,” she protested.
“I’m not worried about that, Swan. Your friendship and having you here for Christmas is enough of a present. Open it,” he urged, nodding at the box.
Emma opened the box and gasped. Inside lay a silver teardrop pendant shaped like a swan, and embellished with small crystals and one flawless freshwater pearl.
“It’s beautiful,” she breathed, ”Help me put it on.” She turned away from him and pulled her hair over her shoulder. He pulled the pendant out of the box and situated it before engaging the clasp at the nape of her neck. She turned her face toward the necklace and held it up to get a better look at it. “You shouldn’t have, you know,” she murmured.
“I know, Swan,” he replied. “Don’t worry. I got a good deal on it. When I saw it, it made me think of you and I wanted you to have it.” He stared into her eyes as she looked at him, willing her to see everything in his heart he was trying to convey to her.
She tilted her head up and drew him down to her as her lips just barely brushed his. “Thank you, Killian. I’ll treasure it always.” Her forehead rested against his as he drew her closer and captured her mouth in a much more passionate slide of lips then the earlier kiss had been. His tongue delved and tangled with hers as she gave as good as she got. When they finally broke for air, they both fought to catch their breath.
“That was…” Killian murmured.
“Definitely not a one time thing,” she quipped. “Merry Christmas, Killian,” she sighed, her face breaking into a radiant smile that literally took what little breath he had away.
“Merry Christmas, Swan,” he agreed, before taking her lips again.
Fin
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoyed the fluff!

Here I am again: Santa. I am eager to know more about your work at Disney; I am glad that you still have a job even if it isn't the one you were in initially. I hope though you'll be back to performing soon! What places would you perform? I myself have visited Florida's resort a couple of times (and Paris once) and have always long admired the hard work of all the castmates! Also what is/are your favourite thing(s) about Disney and the parks too?!
I love making magic for the kiddos. Getting to play a character or hero for people is really humbling. Because they believe in Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Stitch, and Miss Minnie, going down mainstreet and seeing the castle for the first time on a float - my first parade training was during Christmas so the twinkle lights were on the castle. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry the whole rehearsal. I cried my last day too. But Mickey and all his Pals will be waiting for me to return. - I’ve performed in all the WDW Florida parks. I spent most of my time in the Magic Kingdom - Helping Mickey Talk and use his magic before he had Ursula steal his voice and I moved to parade team. I got to be part of the opening cast of the newest Move it Shake it Street Party. And I could be caught with my mice in the hot air balloon and bubbles float with Donald in the Festival of Fantasy Parade aka the 3 oclock parade. Meet and Greets were special too. I keep a book with memories made with wish kids, and just cutie pies that fell asleep on me, and the great grandmothers first visit on her and mickeys 90th birthday. Yes to the day. Mickey shed a tear with me. Like I said. So much magic.
I don’t know if I mentioned it in my last reply but I also teach Musical Theatre and Jazz! We have a livestream set up on our YouTube channel (Perform Orlando) we perform on 12/6 at 2pm. - yours truly is singing the title song from Love Never Dies. - taking voice lessons with Rachel Anne Moore has been a blessing on working the piece considering she sang it in both German and English 😂 I’ll also be in the Once Upon a Dec. pointe piece. And my choreography too. Beetlejuice and Into the Unknown are the Pieces I choreographed this year in case you watch. :)
I hope to get back into writing my Phantom PhanPhiction. But inspiration has been lacking.

At last I see the (sun) light
Good – morning this time!
Yeah, as predicted, yesterday ran very late, so I decided to leave writing my report for the next day and just go to bed already, haha. I’m starting my report in the morning while I’m trying to think of plans for today, so I might just drop the report and finish it later, but here we go – Tokyo Disneyland!
Pictures will be up later today!
It’s definitely not my first time to Tokyo Disneyland, although usually I take the subway to get there. Since I have my JR pass still active and I haven’t been using it much in Tokyo, I refused to take a mode of transportation I had to pay for, so I first went to Tokyo station with the Yamanote line. From there, it’s 15 minutes with the Keiyo line, but that’s all the way at the other end at the station, so you can seriously add another 15 minutes to the travel time. I wasn’t exaggerating when I called Tokyo station a separate city!
The Yamanote line came to an abrupt halt halfway through as the emergency brake had been activated, but it must be a false alarm or otherwise easily solved issue, as we continued a couple of minutes later. It was indeed quite the walk to the Keiyo line, but they put up signs every five steps, so at least it was a very easy road to follow.
And then Maihama station! The weather had turned out to be incredibly nice today, with blue skies so bright I could easily see the Skytree and – was that the snowy top of Mount Fuji? It sure was! That’s how clear the skies were, haha.
Anyway, the walk from the station was a bit different. I know they’re working on a new area inside the park, but apparently they’re also doing extensive redevelopments, because the main entrance was under covers and there were cranes surrounding the castle. After the entrance, the first Halloween decorations came in sight, and part of the fun: watching everyone’s costumes! It’s only during Halloween season that you’re allowed to dress up in Tokyo Disneyland as an adult, and lots of people make use of that opportunity. Some costumes are so good I had to blink and stare to realize they were not the official cast members (which is, incidentally, why it’s not allowed to dress up the rest of the year – you might confuse the kids). Also, it makes for fun situations, like Alice standing in line for lunch with the Queen of Hearts or Belle posing with the park version of Gaston while 5 other princesses watch with interest, haha.
I was inside a little after opening, so I lingered around to wait for the first parade: the Spooky Boo Halloween parade! It’s held twice over the day and thus a short one, but I love Halloween, so I was curious to see what they’d pulled. The parade mostly features the best known characters: Mickey and his friends. They taught us a dance and halfway through, the parade came to a halt for a dance performance. The dancing cast members had gorgeous costumes! They were really into it too, so that was a joy to watch, and I’m kinda sad I couldn’t get a good full view of them on my camera from where I was standing to show you guys, only glimpses in between people’s heads.
I was in for something sweet now, so I wandered into Fantasyland for what I thought was a churro, but ended up being a tipo torta, which – I’m not entirely sure what it is, but it was delicious! I got it in purple sweet potato flavor, because I felt obliged after Okinawa haha, and purple is a Halloween color here, so the sweet potato from Okinawa gets used liberally this time of the year.
I had chosen the Haunted Mansion as my appropriate first ride of today, because duh, Halloween. The wait was 40 minutes when I joined, which was okay if it weren’t for the hot sun, so I was glad to make it inside for the Nightmare before Christmas version of this ride. I really love it a lot – I think it was summer 2017 that I last saw the ride in its original form, oops.
After that, I went back inside again for another favorite ride: Mickey’s Philharmagic Orchestra. There was a small wait here, and a ton of kids who got really into the screening (it’s 4D, so the 3D effects are heavy and you get sprayed with water and scented air in between), so that was kinda cute, haha. They were all making grabby hands at the apple pie and Ariel’s gems.
Once outside, I stumbled upon some character meet and greets in Fantasyland, and then right into the Dreaming Up parade. It’s a lovely one, but I’ve seen it twice now fairly recently, so I wasn’t going to wait on the floor for it. Didn’t have to! I got an okay spot for the visually most impressive floats, so that was a nice little coincidence, haha.
Next up was Pirates of the Caribbean, which I love, but the drop is the scariest thing I do in Disneyland, so I wasn’t super pleased about being put in the front row, haha. I lived, but it took a while for my pulse to calm down. (I’m big on the thrill rides, you can tell.) It’s still super fun, and outside was a band of pirates playing! I think they were kind of trying to spread the crowds today, as it was probably a bit busier than initially expected due to the weather and a couple of rides that tend to draw crowds were closed for today.
After some lunch, wandering around for the views and some window shopping, I settled down next to Snow White’s wishing well to wait for round two of the Spooky Boo parade. About ten Snow Whites and other princesses showed up to take pictures by the well, haha. Sadly, the parade only made a quick round here without dancing in between, but I did get much better shots of the floats now!
And it wasn’t that bad, because I had wisely gotten a fast pass for Haunted Mansion at the same time as the parade, so now I didn’t have to rush as the parade was over quite quickly. I didn’t see the Haunted Mansion wait go down to under my 40 minutes anymore, so that fast pass had been a good call. (I think they’re connected to your ticket now, because I had to scan my entrance ticket and not the fast pass receipt to get in line.)
After that, the iconic ride: It’s a Small World! It’s still fun, and I think I’m mostly past my trauma over the song now, haha. I couldn’t help wanting to take pictures here and there, even though I have a ton already. Spotting the recently added Disney characters is quite fun.
It was getting dark quickly now, and I noticed I was getting a bit bumped out. I kept getting lost in the dark and with the covered parts of the park, so I eventually told myself to just get something sweet and then decide whether I was going to call it an uncharacteristically early day.
As it turned out I just needed food, haha. A hot dog for lunch wasn’t sufficient to get me through the complete afternoon, who knew! I got some ice coffee for the caffeine rush (bad, I know, but hey), bought a little gift for a friend, and was just in time to see the electrical parade Dreamlights. This one changed a little a couple of years ago, but overall it’s still the same one as the one I saw in 2010. It’s still fun, even though the song is even catchier than It’s a small world, haha. They added a tiny something that I spotted right away: Alice was riding a giant teacup on top of the Cheshire cat, rather than the cat’s back proper. I was a bit further away this time, so I got some nice shots of the full floats. I eh, have plenty of close-ups from earlier years, haha.
I then finally made the decision to just get the new Tangled popcorn bucket, which is shaped like the floating lantern from the movie with a little Pascal the chameleon to sit on your shoulder on the strap. There’s a light inside, so that makes for lovely sights in the evening, although the amount of popcorn (caramel flavor at this stand) that came with it was – worrying, haha. I did manage to finish it all though, despite not being the biggest popcorn eater, but whoa. (You can get the bucket separately from the popcorn so you won’t have to clean it, but the popcorn separately means you get two cartons of them, since that’s how much can fit into the bucket.)
Newly invigorated, I decided to get back to attractions. I went into the Enchanted Tiki room first as it was nearby and I love the songs and Stitch. It’s very much a kids attraction and I very much don’t care, haha. If anything, the line is non-existent here and you just have to wait for the next performance to begin.
I then found the ball game stand, which I suck at, but that’s okay, because you get to pick a really nice exclusive pin if you lose, so I got the Minnie one, haha. Making my way back to Fantasyland from there, I hopped into Philharmagic again, the line gone and just having to wait for the next performance to start. There’s a merit in staying late, haha. I rushed to Peter Pan next, where the wait was down to 15 minutes. It’s a fun ride, but it’s over so fast that I can’t justify standing in line for 50 minutes for it.
Finally, with ten minutes until park closure to go, I went to Pooh’s Hunny Hunt – and they closed the line after me, oops. Two more ladies came rushing in via the fastpass entrance, but that was it. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt is a fun and unique ride, but since I’m not a big fan of Pooh bear, I refuse to wait for him for 70+ minutes, haha. This worked, even though it was still about 10 minutes. Around park closure! Wow.
There were still surprisingly many people in the park as I made my way to the exit, some even still on the way into the park. I wonder at what time they can actually close the gates… Hopefully the park members work in shifts, yikes.
After a quick last look in the Bon Voyage store just outside the park I made my way to the station, where I had to wait for the next Keiyo line train as this one was… very full. At 10:30 PM. Ah, the Disney magic, haha. (The people from Disneysea also gather at this station.) Thankfully that got me a front row place in line for the next train, so I could sit (!) until the terminal station of Tokyo, where it was another brisk walk to the Yamanote line and finally, back to my hotel.
So here I am now. I took a shower last night and fell asleep almost right away. Didn’t sleep through my alarm at least, but I did put it on snooze and only got up as late as possible to still eat breakfast at the hotel here, haha.
Today should be a little calmer. I might do some karaoke and find a café I read about opening some months ago, but other than that, I don’t really have plans. Sadly, the weather is getting bad again starting tonight, thanks to yet another typhoon making rounds. It should be gone by the time my return flight is scheduled, though.
Yikes, time flies. It’s Thursday and I’m flying back on Monday! Ack. Sadly I don’t think many of my Tokyo side tips can go through, if any. A bit of a waste of my JR pass, but it’s long since paid itself back and hey, I will still use it for the Narita Express to the airport if nothing else. I don’t want to over-exert myself or put myself into dangerous situations, so I might just stick to Tokyo until the last day (although Saturday should be alright weather wise, at least less rainy, but again, dangerous situations). And hey, I haven’t gone back to just Tokyo on 2 separate trips because I hate it here, haha. Although with all the things I’ve seen around here, I might have to cash in on that extra luggage… After that huge book I found the other day, I’m already nearing my limit, and the cost of overweight luggage is as much as an extra bag at Don Quijote would cost, so uh. I can still think about it until 24 hours before the flight, so that’s what I will do, haha.
Time to head out. Photos coming up soon, see you later!

21 Answers Tag
Tagged by @anonymousthewriterswriting! Thank you so much for including me in this game :)
Rules: Answer 21 Questions and Tag 21 People. Oddly enough, there are only sixteen questions here? I feel like that happens with this sort of tag game more than it ought to. What are the other questions, you say? The world may never know.
ZODIAC - I’m a Scorpio! I don’t particularly believe in horoscopes, but I do think it’s funny how much I oftentimes relate to the Scorpio portions of “The Signs As” posts...even if we Scorpios don’t exactly have the best reputation
HEIGHT - I was 5′ 8″ the last time I measured, but I’ve been growing again recently (somehow), so I believe I’m about 5′ 10″ now! Which is exciting, because I’ve always been rather short for a boy.
LAST MOVIE I SAW- Wreck-it Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet with both of my parents! They forgot I work on Mondays (for them, might I add) and ended up accidentally buying me tickets in the middle of my shift. But since they’re my bosses, well, they just rearranged my schedule for the day. It was surprisingly wonderful, and the Disney Princess bit changed my life.
FAVOURITE MUSICIANS- Too many to name. Secular artists? James Arthur and Sia are my favorite male and female musicians, with my favorite band being either Fall Out Boy or Panic! at the Disco. As for worship music? Elevation, Belonging Co., and Ascend the Hill would have to be my favorites.
LAST THING I GOOGLED - What’s funny is that I was clearly googling three different things and going between them for all completely different reasons. One, I was trying to figure out if the word was “squallor” or “squalor” (spoiler: it’s the latter). Then, I was looking up if certain types of mail need stamps for my job (surprise, they do). And I also looked up lists of common scents for one of yesterdays’ OC asks. Quite the odd assortment.
SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD- I’ve been going between Once Upon a December from Anatasia, Issues by Julia Michaels, and Winter Wonderland all morning.
OTHER BLOGS- I have a personal blog, @midknightmasquerade, which I rarely post on, but like things quite often from (mainly for personal interests, not for writing). I had a Dragon Age blog for a time called @thedosianmythalogy, and a handful of other sub-blogs I almost never used (beyond one ask-centric blog for a Legend of Zelda RP group I was in back in the day: shoutout to my FoH babes, I love y’all!)
FOLLOWING- I apparently follow 157 people on this blog! I didn’t even realize there were that many, wow. Is that a lot? It’s a lot for me.
DO I GET ASKS- I do! Not too many to handle, but a decent amount. I primarily answer them every Thursday. Feel free to send any and all asks you have my way! My ask box is always open.
WHAT IM WEARING- Since I’m snowed in, I’m bumming it a bit today. A “Lost Boy” t-shirt about two times too big for me, a hoodie I got from the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade (can you tell I’ve been playing Kingdom Hearts III yet?), some weather-inappropriate pajama shorts and long socks.
AMOUNT OF SLEEP- I...have not been sleeping much. At all. Like, three to four hours of sleep per night. Not because of work, for once, but because I’ve been obsessively gaming. But I was responsible last night and went to bed semi-early to get six hours of sleep.
FAVOURITE FOOD- Ugh, this is so hard to narrow down. There are so many types of food I like. But being raised Italian, I’d have to say that nothing beats homemade rigatoni with vodka sauce and a side of fresh bread and butter. Aaaaand now I’m hungry.
DREAM TRIP- I’ve dreamt of going to Japan’s countryside since I was a little kid. Almost went once, too, before I chickened out (long story). But recently, I’ve been begging my dad to go to Ireland with me. Why? I have no idea! It just seems like it would be so much fun, and he’s the best person to travel with.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS AESTHETIC THINGS- Autumn twilight, the crackle of ice as it shatters beneath your touch, the welcoming smell of a homecooked meal, a shoulder stained by a friend’s tears, comforting words from a sharpened tongue, crucifixes clutched tightly in quivering fingers, prayers whispered in the dead of night, a minor melody to soothe the soul, words with hidden meanings, eyes that have seen too much, a smile that seems a touch sad, a single candle to guide you through the darkest woods
RANDOM FACT- I’m always That Kid who has no idea what to say about themselves when there’s no set criteria for fact-giving. Hmm, let’s see...well, since this is a writeblr, I guess I ought to admit that, if I were given the chance to, I would rather write a video game than a book. Not gonna lie, that’s my dream.
LANGUAGES- I speak English, primarily, but I consider myself semi-fluent in Spanish, as well! I studied high-level Spanish courses all throughout my education, and I have a passion for learning about hispanic culture. I am, admittedly, a bit out of practice, though.
TAGGING: Whoever wants to play! I’m not going to swamp twenty-one people’s inboxes with this. But I will invite my fellow snowed-in friend @ratracechronicler to join in, since we’ve both been subjected to the weather.

While I know that Thanksgiving is nearly a week and a half away, my local radio stations have decided to take the opportunity to play Christmas songs, with the big offender being FM 93.9 WLIT.
But rather than rant about how they are jumping the gun, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about two Disney holiday classics released on VHS and DVD on the this very day, five years apart from each other (eventually appearing on a 2-movie Blu-Ray), Mickey’s Once and Twice Upon a Christmas.
Please note that Mickey does not have such a candle in the film
Each of these films are a collection of stories starring Mickey and the gang, each dealing with the holiday hustle and bustle as well as the good warm feelings that make us feel merry.  The first one contains three stories while the second has five.
Tumblr media
The first segment in Once Upon a Christmas is Donald Duck – Stuck on Christmas.  Despite his name being in the title, the story actually focusses on Huey, Dewey, and Louie.  As they spend Christmas Day, they are shocked to see it go by so quickly and wish upon the Evening Star for it to be Christmas every day.
I should bring up that the original “Christmas Every Day” story from 1892 was more of a what if scenario as if the year continued as normal, but every day was Christmas.  On paper this sounded like a good idea, to have it celebrated every day turns out to be a terrible idea as it ends up drying up the proper resources for Christmas.  By July in the story, people are more focussed on Christmas than they are the 4th of July.  And by autumn, people giving presents go from “Here you go, pal” to “Take this and f**k off!”  As it turned out, the endless Christmas celebration was nothing more than a dream.
Tumblr media
Instead, the story borrows more from Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray.  In the film, Bill is stuck in a time loop that haunts him for what seems like centuries, waking up every morning on 2/2/1993.  Only until he undergoes some serious character development does he escape the loop.  In the Nephews’ case, this decades long loop serves as a punishment for them as they do not know the true meaning of Christmas.
It gets to a point where the boys have everything down and in what order, as follows:
Wake up
Open presents
Donald freaks out, drops breakfast on himself
Daisy, Scrooge, and “Aunt Gertie” (her only appearance) arrive
Go sledding
Eat dinner
Sing carols
Go to bed at 10:00 PM
Repeat the next day
Towards the end of the loops, the boys decide to spice things up, similar to Bill’s suicidal loops in the film.  First they ice bomb Chip’n’Dale as their Christmas morning reminder of them playing train was getting annoying.  Then they sent their RC car and plane after Donald before he sets foot in the living room.  When Gerty arrives for kisses, the boys arrive in scuba gear.  By dinner, the roasted turkey has been replaced with a live one, ticking Donald off, and wrecking the piano, cancelling carols.  After the turkey chase, the turkey ends up going up the chimney and in Santa’s outfit. It’s not so much the appearance of the turkey that’s hilarious, it’s the implication that Santa knew that the day was on repeat.  In an attempt to save face, the boys attempt to leave with their sleds, but then read the card that was attatched to one of them, a poem written by Scrooge about the true meaning of Christmas.  The next loop can be seen as something similar to Bill’s philanthropist loops in the film.
In this loop, the nephews use the Junior Woodchucks Guidebook to convert the sleds into a gift for Donald.  When morning comes, they give a bag of nuts to Chip’n’Dale.  They then make Donald breakfast and tell him that they need to wait until the family arrives.  By dinnertime, they eat ham instead of turkey, with the turkey eating with them.  The nephews then reveal their gift to Donald: a snowboat.  The loop ends with Donald and Daisy kissing under the mistletoe.
The next morning turns out to be Boxing Day as Donald wants to give his gift a try, only for it to fall apart as he goes down the hill.
Tumblr media
The next segment is A Very Goofy Christmas, which is an original story with some elements of Miracle of 33rd Street and “Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus”.  Goofy and Max (in his very last appearance as a child) are writing letters to Santa and shoveling snow from their driveway and sidewalk.  Pete arrives and insists that “an old guy in a red suit cruising the whole world in one night using reindeer that fly” is practically impossible.  Despite this, Goofy wants to help his son beleive in Christmas magic and the spirit of Old St. Nick, as they have a Christmas Eve dinner with a neighboring poor family.  Dinner goes without a hitch, but then when Goofy tries to act as a department store Santa, things go haywire as Max feels betrayed.
Goofy decides that in order to cheer his son up, not just with Old Stuffed Bear, he’ll prove that Santa exists that night even if he has to stand out in the cold.  After two false alarms (a pug in jingle bells and Big Time Beagle attempting to rob from Pete), Goofy is the one that begins to doubt Santa’s existence and Max is the one that is willing to cheer him up, dressing as Santa like earlier that evening.  As Goofy follows his son up the chimney, they see Santa flying by and dropping Max’s gift into their hands.  Plus some well deserved Karma for Pete.  Max then decides to share his gift with one of the poor kids.
Tumblr media
The final segment is a retelling of O. Henry’s classic tale of The Gift of the Magi.  In this version, Mickey has a harmonica without a case and Minnie has a pocket watch.  Both of them have the intention of getting a gift to compliment their treasure, a chain for the watch and a case for the harmonica.  Mickey’s job at Crazy Pete’s at first seems to be enough to get him the chain, but then when he helps a poor family with a smaller tree rather than a 10-ft Nova Scotia pine that Pete was trying to force upon them, Mickey’s paycheck is confiscated, but needless to say, karma bites Pete again as he accidentally sets his ten-footers ablaze.
On Minnie’s end, her job at Mortimer’s only ended with her getting a fruitcake from her tightwad of a boss (and this was the same Mortimer that has attempted being a casanova time and again, even if it means humiliating Mickey).  Back to Mickey, he participates in a toy drive held in the park to tide over until the Firehouse Five return from putting out the blaze at Crazy Pete’s.  The firecheif compliments Mickey’s harmonica skills and that its worth its weight in gold.  This gives Mickey the idea to trade his harmonica to get the chain.  With the chain in hand, Mickey and Minnie decide to open gifts, only to learn that they traded their treasures to get the other’s gift.
In my head canon, they receive a surprise visitor, the shopkeeper who gives them their original treasures back, claiming them to be new presents altogether.  This is partially based on versions of the story where the shopkeeper is the main character and oversees the exchanges between treasures and gifts, as seen on an episode of Sesame Street with Gordon playing this to Ernie and Bert.
The movie ends with Mickey and the gang singing a medley of carols (Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, We Wish You a Merry Christmas).
Tumblr media
The first segment on the second movie, now done in CG, is “Belles on Ice”.  This segment was partially inspired by Michelle Kwan’s performance at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and her performance as Mulan in “Reflections on Ice”.  The plot involves Minnie and Daisy having a figure skating duel that escalates out of control, with the two of them realizing that their egos got the best of them.  Original concepts for the segment included a parade float contest, a store window display competition and a cooking show bake-off.
Tumblr media
The next segment is “Christmas: Impossible”  The segment begins with Scrooge having Donald, Daisy, and the Nephews over at his mansion (with its own zip-code) to celebrate the holidays.  On Christmas Eve, the nephews cause a ruckus, which leads to Scrooge talking to them about cleaning up their act if they ever want to get on Santa’s Nice List, of which he is not.
I should bring up that there was one thing he always wnated from Santa but never got: a set of bagpipes.
A little problem with that Mr. McDee, you made yourself a set before you emigrated from Scotland to America and even used it against Ma Beagle.  And of course these pipes predate the Number One Dime.
Anyways, with this plothole out of the way.
The nephews decide that the best way to get on the nice list is to head to Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole and write their names on it.  After finding the list room locked and getting the key from Santa’s office (the original script called for an ice cave with a hungry polar bear swimming about), they are about to head in there and set things right for themselves when they lose the key in a pile of fake keys belonging to a key themed toy
Tumblr media
In when brainstorming ideas about the toy in question, the animators pitched at least ten ideas, nine of which are seen above.  My personal favorites being Key-to-My-Heart Kate, Dog Pound Pals, and Who-Dini the Owl.  The winner of the contest was Jailbreak Bob only because of Jeff Bennet’s demo reel as him (“Lemme out, see?”) proved to be the coolest.
One thing leads to another as the boys accidentally gum up the progress made by the elves, almost ruining Christmas, with the elves comparing this to the “Sleigh Crash of ’64”.  The nephews decide to help fix this mess and escape back to the list room, keyless (Santa took it back having assumed to have lost it), but end up sneaking into the list room behind the janitor.
Pulling up Duckburg on the monitors, they find that they are indeed not on the list, but instead write Scrooge’s name on there.  The next morning, they find tons of presents for them, including a Jailbreak Bob (“Be good this year, see?  And have a Merry Christmas!”), the Idiot’s Guide to Manners, and a new set of bagpipes for Scrooge, ending the segment with Santa sending a letter saying that “there’s always room on the Nice List for those who think of other first,” and Scrooge playing Deck the Halls on his new pipes, very badly.
Tumblr media
The third segment is more or less a montage called “Christmas Maximus”.  This more or less follows Max (now in his 20’s) and his new girlfriend Mona, spending the holidays at Goofy’s after leaving from college, with Goofy trying hard not to embarass Max, and eventually strengthening the bond between the two of them.  In a rather interesting move, Mona is voiced by Kellie Martin, who voiced Roxanne in the original Goofy Movie.
Next is Donald’s Gift, and I can tell you one thing from listening to “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” over and over again.
Tumblr media
Donald is not amused.  All he wants is some peace and quiet and a piping cup of hot chocolate.  Daisy and the nephes arrive to take them shopping at Mousy’s, but Donald doesn’t want any of it.  But he is forced to regardless.
Donald finds a cocoa stand and gets a big cup of it.  This is where things get wierd as every noise he hears throughout the department store is in sync to “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”, culminating in him ending up in the black-lit display window playing the same song.  In his rage, he destroys it but is shamed upon by his family and thrown out by security (“Fer cryin’ out loud, where’s yer Christmas spirit!”)
Trudging home, Donald comes across an uncoordinated group of carollers trying to sing the song.  Donald takes over conducting and together, they produce a beautiful harmony that draws in all the townsfolk.  Soon the crowd draws in Daisy and the boys, who see Donald finally showing some Christmas spirit. Donald apologizes and joins in on the singing, making sure to sing from his heart.
Tumblr media
The final segment is Mickey’s Doggone Christmas.  In this story, Mickey is trying to set up a party with Pluto, but Pluto accidentally causes a powersurge which not only ruins the set up that Mickey had, but gets him sent to the dog house.  Mickey then heads out on his own to fix the damage in time for the party, all while dealing with a crazy snowplow truck.  Pluto decides that enough is enough and runs away, taking the next train behind his backyard.
The train ends up taking Pluto to the North Pole, where he sees Santa’s reindeer training for the big night.  The main two deer of the special are Dunder and Blitzen (voiced by Jeff Bennet and Jim Cummings respectively).  As Pluto is not wearing his collar, Dunder decides to adopt him as “Murray,” as in “Murry Christmas” *faceplam*
Mickey returns home to find that Pluto ran off and calls his friends to rally a search party.  “Murray” meanwhile is hacing fun with the team, but soon feels homesick.  Mickey meanwhile has been handing out fliers of his missing bloodhound, and soon takes his request up with a mall Santa, revealed to be the real deal and from “Christmas:  Impossible”.  Santa tells Dunder and Blitzen that Pluto is homesick, and is prepared to take him back to Mickey.
Tumblr media
The movie ends with Mickey and Pluto reunited as the gang arrives in the snowplow truck.  As it happened, when Minnie heard Mickey’s call, she made calls to the rest of the gang, with Scrooge buying a snowplow company to aid in the search, Goofy happened to be the running gage snowplow.  All together, they sing the medley from the previous film as the film comes to a close.  This ending seems to imply that this was going to be the last part of an ongoing story where Mickey and Pluto were setting up for the party and each decoration brought up a different memory, leading into the stories.  This would also help explain why the “Angry Man” appears in each segment, as well as the elves and Dunder mentioning the Sleigh Crash of ’64.
All in all, despite what Rotten Tomatoes may think, these two movies are the perfect holiday experience for fans old and new as well as friends and family alike.
Mickey’s Nth Upon a Christmas While I know that Thanksgiving is nearly a week and a half away, my local radio stations have decided to take the opportunity to play Christmas songs, with the big offender being FM 93.9 WLIT.

WORLD FESTIVAL
This expenses individual over the expense of your gathering ticket, and incorporates exquisite starters and pastries, in addition to correlative brew, wine and non-mixed refreshments. It additionally stretches out past the ordinary end-time of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Gathering Exclusive Special Food and "Free" Refreshments – Magic Kingdom has a huge lineup of Christmas bites and sweets, which are accessible for buy during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Moreover, a few things are accessibly just during the occasion. These incorporate the Yule Log, Red Velvet Zero Waffles, and Holiday Burger (presented previously).
Next, the huge one: the "free" treats, hot cocoa, and other occasion refreshments. There Merry Christmas Images are stations to get these everywhere throughout the recreation center, and various treats are served at every one of them. Albeit sensible personalities can contrast on this, I think these free refreshments are delectable.Simply considering them I compose this makes me hungry, and transports me back to recollections of numerous a cool evening tasting on sweltering cocoa to keep warm (it doesn't work, yet hello, why not try?!). Lines for refreshments can get terrible close to the front of the recreation center close to the motorcade time and during the main half-hour of the occasion.
The best spot to go for the free refreshments is Pinocchio Village Haus, which serves hot cocoa, Fanta, and an assortment of occasion treats. Different areas commonly just serve one treat each. My most loved of the treats is the Peppermint Crunch–any individual who doesn't care for that treat is out and out wrong.Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade – Given the magnificent lighting, vibe, gracious, and SNOW on Main Street, USA, it's perhaps the best spot from which to see the motorcade.
Tumblr media
We regularly get a spot toward the finish of Main Street so the Castle is straightforwardly before us as we watch the procession. A large portion of the photographs on this page were taken from that area, or close to that area. You truly should see this motorcade from Main Street. No place else even starts to look at.Note: this area is currently the held survey region for the Tony's Most Merriest Town Square Party during the 11 p.m. march. Every so often, it is likewise saved for different purposes during the previous motorcade, also.
Extremely, any area on Main Street will do as far as getting this occasion card-ideal perspective on the motorcade. An incredible option is, amusingly enough, legitimately before Tony's Town Square Restaurant. (See above.)This spot will give you a perspective on the buoys as they round the corner descending Main Street with the Christmas tree out of sight, it has great lighting, despite everything you'll be in the region of snowfall. It's additionally the last piece of Main Street that tops off with individuals, making it simpler to get a decent view here.

Visiting the Magic Kingdom During Different Holidays
Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 16): The park is rather empty since everyone has already come for the Christmas-New Year’s time period. Even though it’s Florida it’s still cold, but you bet that you’re still going to see little princesses running around in short sleeves and all. If you’re visiting for this holiday it’s suggested that you bring layers and jackets.
Tumblr media
Valentine’s Day (February 14): If you’re not a big fan of being that odd third wheel for couples you don’t really know, or if seeing proposals before Cinderella’s castle than this is definitely not a good day for you to visit. However, the weather is usually beautiful: not too hot or too cold with nice breezes throughout the day to chase away the heat.
Tumblr media
Easter/Spring Break (Late March/April): The heat is starting to creep back into Florida as summer teases everyone. The crowds are heavy during this time because between high school and local colleges teenagers flood into the parks with their families. In addition, people celebrate Easter at the park with a special Easter parade and meet and greet with the Easter Bunny. Large crowds can add to wait times and can cause those who like to live spontaneously have issues with finding dinning options and other accommodations.
Tumblr media
Memorial Day (May 29): Summer has officially started and those that didn’t visit for Easter are celebrating int he park. Most of these people are trying to enjoy the last bit of that “spring time weather” in Florida before the summer “rainy period begins”
Tumblr media
Independence Day (July 4): With a special fireworks show in Magic Kingdom large crowds gather on this holiday. This holiday takes place in the middle of Florida’s “rainy season” so if you’re traveling here be sure to bring an umbrella and drink lots of water.
Tumblr media
Labor Day (September 4): Usually around this time is when the best deals are presented at Disney parks since a lot of kids got back to school and peak season is over. With the growing popularity of “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party” during this time guest will start gathering to celebrate Halloween early with Mickey Mouse and his friends. The weather is starting to cool down from the summer and the chances of rain decrease.
Tumblr media
Halloween (October 31): The temperature will be dropping at night and you might need a light jacket to accompany your Halloween costume. There will be a large amount of guest int he parks at this time due to the fact that people want to catch the last Halloween party and the first “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party” starting early November. These guests want to maximize their holiday experience and gather the limited edition items.
Tumblr media
Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November): For thanksgiving it is very important to plan ahead for dinner because reservations will become almost impossible to get. The crowds are less then the other holidays that surround it (Halloween, Christmas, and New Years). Almost everyone (including cast members) will be wearing their winter apparels to counter the chilly winds. Plan ahead to prevent spending your whole budget on hoodies upon arriving. Yes, it is Florida, but it will still be cold.
Tumblr media
Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (December 24-25): If you do not get up early and get into the parks then you risk the chance of not being able to get in at all. That’s right once the parks reach capacity they will close the front gates and not let anyone else in and this usually happens on Christmas. Be prepared for impossible wait times, crazy crowds, and a once in a life time experience that only Disney could provide. It’ll be cold so plan accordingly!
Tumblr media
New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day (December 31-January 1): Have you ever wanted to go to club with people that all love Disney? Well look no further. The front of Cinderella’s castle turns into a mosh pit complete with a DJ in front of the castle that keeps the party popping until it’s the next year. This is another day that the park will easily reach capacity. In addition, for the night time festivities the cast members will block off main street USA once it reaches capacity. It’s cold during this time, but layers is honestly the best suggesting for this time of year so that if you get hot partying you can take some layers off.
