Franklin (2024 -)

Explores the story of one of the greatest gambles of Franklin's career. At age 70, Franklin outmaneuvered British spies and French informers while engineering the Franco-American alliance of 1778.

A really interesting series and a side of history I was not too familiar with. It has definitely made me want to read more about the American War of Independence and America's Founding Fathers. I really enjoyed the diplomacy, the agreements, and the espionage aspects of the series, but I found the side stories involving Temple Franklin's friend and their parties very boring. I would have preferred the series to be shorter, with more time spent on politics. I am also now quite keen to read up on Marquis de Lafayette. It was interesting to see the seeds for the French Revolution being sown. Overall, it is a very good series and worth checking out. It is not a fast-paced story, but it is still very enjoyable.
