East End- Central Park, Magnolia. I was born and Raised in the corner of Ave I. and Maltby st. Whether it was walking up and down Macario Garcia con mi Abuelita, driving down wayside with my mom to get to the Harrisburg plaza, my dad teaching me how to ride a bike at Hidalgo park, going to TacoNazo on the weekends, visiting the Yerberias on Canal st, getting woken up by the drunk neighbors blasting the corridos from across the street, or even just walking to La Conasupo to buy some candy from Elsa, My favorite memories come from a place that I love so much, Mi Barrio Hermoso, Magnolia. There is so much Love, So much Culture, So much Blood, Sweat, and Tears that run up and down these streets. If you ask anyone of us where it is that we come from, With so much Love and Pride we say Magnolia. Growing up Mexican American, Growing up as a Chicana I was so blessed to have been brought up in one of Houstons first Hispanic Neighborhoods, surrounding myself con pura Amor y Cultura.
