Decathlon and Sid Lee Paris Launch Decathlon Outdoor, with over 5,000 ideas from users on ways to get outside

As more and more countries around the world start ease out of lockdowns, France is no exception. Many travel restrictions have been lifted and, as summer approaches, people are itching to get outdoors. French brand Decathlon, a leader in sports and outdoor gear for 4 decades, wanted to find a new way to connect with consumers and bring them fresh ideas to get active. They turned to Sid Lee Paris to design the look of their new app Decathlon Outdoor, to encourage users, from families to young urbanites, to find new ways to get outside, because every minute outside counts.

During the lockdown, polls showed nearly 70% of French people said they were looking forward to getting outside again, something many didn’t even realize they missed.[1] Studies from before indicate many only spend about 10% of their time outdoors.[2] While 20-30 minutes is all it takes to destress, even a “micro break” can make a world of difference.[3]

Decathlon Outdoor was born from a platform the retailer created in 2018 with travel app developer Mhikes. Quechua Hike Finder was a first, regional test to gage consumer interest in local activities and recommendations. Following its successful launch, Decathlon acquired Mhikes and created Decathlon Outdoor – a digital pocket guide with over 5,000 experiences, with real stories and pictures sent in from outdoor enthusiasts. Whether mountain biking in the world of Cezanne in Aix-en-Provence, strolling through Paris’s Luxembourg gardens, or playing pétanque in a park, every 60 seconds is another minute and that’s another minute to clear your mind.

The re-branded app and site support the brand’s positioning as the reference for all things outdoor and mark a turning point in the brand’s communication towards a more conversational tone, giving more depth to their content. The brand will also transition to a new visual identity over the next year, with softer colors and a more intimate approach to bring consumers closer.

Nakatayo lang ako, nakasandal sa pader ng emergency room, at parang mata ko lang ang may pakiramdam.

Hindi ko maramdaman ang pader na sinasandalan ko, maging ang sahig na inaapakan ko. Kahit ang tainga ko, walang marinig. Mata ko lang ang nakakasense ng mga nangyayari sa aking harapan.

Bawat bagsak ng parang plantsang hawak ng doktor ..

bawat igkas ng katawan ng pasyente ..

bawat sulyap ng nurse sa lifepack ..

bawat dampi ng mga palad na nagpapump sa dibdib ng pasyente..

nakikita ko kahit wala akong naririnig o nararamdaman man lang.

Nakita ko rin ng dumating si Mhike.. noon bigla kong naramdaman na tumitibok ang puso ko. Nabuhayan ako ng loob dahil naramdaman kong may kasama na ako.

Maya maya ay dumating ang kanyang ina. Sa nakikita ng aking mga mata, alam kong napakalakas ng kanyang pag iyak.

Ngunit wala pa rin akong naririnig.

Alam mo yung nakita mong hinawakan mo ang ballpen na iniabot ng nurse syo .. pero hindi ka makapag fill out ng form na hawak nya dahil hindi mo maramdaman sa kamay mo ang ballpen na hawak hawak mo... Pero malinaw na nabasa ko... Dead on arrival daw yung pasyente.

Sinulyapan ko ang pasyente habang inaalis ng nurse ang mga kableng nakakabit sa kanyang katawan.

.... Naisip ko lang.. tinamaan ng kidlat yung pasyente.. pagkatapos nabasa ko dead on arrival. Pero kanina lang halos mata ko na lang ang may buhay habang pinapanood sila sa ginagawa nilang pag revive...

Nakasulat don ..electrocuted..

Di ba electricity yun?.. tapos ginamitan Nila ulit ng kuryente para irevive ? ..

Naisip ko na lang... Mahirap magsalba ng buhay. Dapat wala kang awa para maisakatuparan mo ang mga procedures nito.

Mahirap.

Kasinghirap ng pagtanggap na wala na sya.

Katulad ng nakikita kong hirap na nararamdaman ni Mhike habang tinatapik ang balikat ng kanyang ina na walang patid sa pag iyak sa pasyenteng ngayon ay nakahanda nang isilid sa body bag.

LTO Ronda opens to serve Southwest Cebu residents

CEBU CITY, Nov. 20 (PIA) -- In the short period of 20 days, the Land Transportation Office (LTO-7) Ronda District Office has officially opened its doors to the residents of Cebu Southwest in Cebu Province.

The Ronda District Office is the 15th district office of LTO-7 with the existing two extension offices, four licensing centers, three driver's license renewal office (DLRO), one e-patrol, and one Malasakit Lounge.

It can temporarily accommodate 80-100 persons with the health protocols implementation, according to its Officer-In-Charge Chief Mhike Jelord Rollo.

LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec thanked Cebu Province 7th district representative Cong. Peter John Calderon for authoring the Republic Act 11437, an act which establishes the district office of the municipality in Ronda.

Caindec also thanked Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia for the continued support of the Cebu Province to the agency.

Caindec bared that when the approval of the establishment of the Ronda District Office was approved by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante, he then challenged Ronda Mayor Terrence Blanco to build the structure for the said district office.

Blanco said that establishing the Ronda District Office is a dream come true for his municipality for the Ronda District Office is the only LTO office in Southwest Cebu next to Carcar City.

The mayor added that the current Ronda District Office which is located at Poblacion, Ronda is a temporary office, an official office will be built soon.

Blanco thanked Garcia for being present during the inauguration of the LTO Ronda District Office.

Garcia described Caindec as the "man with the positive change in LTO-7."

The governor added that the LTO building, which was built in 20 days, proved that no pandemic can stop the developments in Cebu province.

"Busa sa paghimo niining LTO sulod sa 20 ka adlaw, salamat kay wala gyud ninyo gigamit nga rason 'di mi uy kay Covid baya' (We thank LTO that they finished the building in 20 days and did not let the pandemic become a reason to stop the construction)," said Garcia.

COVID-19 Lockdown: Stop Harassing Journalists, Zimbabwe Court Orders Police

A Zimbabwean high court on Monday ordered police to desist from arresting, detaining or interfering with the work of journalists providing coverage during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) and journalist Panashe Makufa had petitioned the court to issue the order following a string of incidents in which police and other law enforcement agencies harassed or arrested journalists while carrying out their duties.

“The High Court has directed that… arrests or detention or other forms of harassment must stop,” a lawyer for the applicants, Chris Mhike, told AFP after the ruling.

“The police and all others who are working with the police in enforcing the rules of the lockdown have been interdicted from carrying out those actions that amount to harassment of journalists,” Mhike said.

Announcing the ruling in court, Judge Jacob Manzunzu gave the police hierarchy 12 hours to inform its members and other law enforcement agencies involved in enforcing the lockdown that the 2019 press card is valid.

Some police officers have raised concerns over the expiry dates of official press cards, demanding that journalists produce letters of exemption in addition to the cards.

The government had categorised journalism as an essential service during the lockdown.

But the police argued that “journalists are not exempted from the lockdown,” claiming that only journalists “from broadcasting and internet” were exempt.

The debate was laid to rest this weekend when the government exempted “the activities of persons as journalists, newspaper vendors or employees of such services” in its announcement extending the 21-day lockdown by 14 days to May 3.

MISA Zimbabwe’s executive director Tabani Moyo praised the court’s ruling, adding: “We hope the police will ensure that no journalist will be harmed going forward. We don’t want to keep on recording cases of law enforcement agencies targeting the journalists of this country.”
