Luh tyler being popular is so funny because it means the guys 6 years ago on soundcloud were right when they said "this is ahead of its time" on songs made by kids on their phones with dreamthug exclusive mexikodro xangang type beats

Track Spotlight: Broke Boi - Playboi Carti prod. MexikoDro (2015)
“Broke Boi” by Playboi Carti is one of the most iconic Plugg tracks to grace the scene. It is a typical, powerful Dro beat that utilizes resonant, high-pitched keys with “sparkly” counter melodies and accents to create an ambient atmosphere, supported by minimal hi hats, snares, and snaps, and driven by punchy, elongated 808s. Carti flows effortlessly over the beat, asking the listener why he should ‘keep juggin’ on these broke bois.” The song sounds like an elegant flex, the richness of the beat seeming to provide a perfect parallel for Carti’s braggadocious derision of “broke bois,” whom he himself cannot be associated with. The rapper seems to celebrate his success and express a willingness to defend it, with lyrics like “keep the choppa on me my grandma watching me/fuck my Jesus piece/I might squeeze the piece.”
Producer MexikoDro builds up to the climax of the song, culminating in an epic beat drop at about 1:36, as Carti comes back in with the lines: “Audi, Beamer, Benz with the roof up!” The track is a certified ear worm that I believe even the “Broke Bois” themselves would find hard to resist. The sound is playful and magnetic, as Carti floats on Dro’s beat to affirm his success and diss his haters.
