ok everyone i feel a personal responsibility to educate on this bc i have used methylene blue in the lab so say it with me!!

methylthionium chloride/methylene blue is a non-biodegradable carcinogen.

it causes cancer, along with anemia, dizziness, discolored urine, a risk of serotonin syndrome, and a plethora of other unpleasant effects.

it is not something to consume unless prescribed by a licensed physician (NOT your holistic “wellness coach”) for the treatment of SEVERE methemoglobinemia (too much methemoglobin in the blood=blood can’t carry as much oxygen). even then, it’s usually in injection form.

the only reason it’s prescribed for that is because it will kill you slower than not being able to transport oxygen will.

on that note, normal blood cells do not need to be able to carry more oxygen. it will not help you in any way if you do not have methemoglobinemia.

consuming it without medical need can and will harm you.

any alleged health benefits are outweighed by that harm.

anyone, including a government “official”, who encourages its consumption is WRONG.
