I just finished Star Vs The Forces of Evil

Previously, I had watched only to the middle of season 3 but then I saw some really cute svtfoe fan art that was absolutely amazing and so I went to Hulu to watch it from season 1 and I forgot how much I missed Starco it’s probably my favorite ship. Tbh i’m going to list stuff i liked about the series below the cut so i don’t overwhelm your dash! 

okay like i said above, i love Starco it is tied for my favorite ship in the show (First being Eclipsa and Globgor, second is Ton and Janna, third is Moon and River) Like i am just a fan of friend to romance because I am a big believer in that particular way to get to romance. I just love friends who grow to love and appreciate your quirks and weird habits as a friend. I feel in tv and movies when they portray “love at first sight” or typical dates, they always give me the message that I should hide my flaws and quirks and then reveal them all at a really pivotal moment. But with friends, you don’t have that big wall blocking you from who you really are. and yeah so i love Starco, Marco is just such a lovable character. I loved watching his development as a character from “safe-wannabe-bad boy” to “amazing-knight-who-loves-his-sparkly-girlfriend”. I also love that he never gets like “oh she’s my girlfriend, i gotta protect her even though when we were just friends, i never acted like she needed my protection because she doesn't. she turns into a supercool magic butterfly and she can shoot spells out of her six arms; she’s got this” and I really appreciate seeing that. I also like how they didn’t shirk away the words like “dating”, “boyfriend/girlfriend”, “love” etc. My 13 year old sister has been in tons of relationships and she’s never skirted around these words before because she was always confidant in her feelings and she was never taught to be shameful for dating and being in love. and that's how kids are these days and i think it’s a good thing we aren't making kids and teens shameful or feel awkward around these terms, especially when they hear older siblings and parents use it daily. maybe that's all gibberish. I also liked that the segregation and bigotry is so obvious. The allusion is so clear, i felt pained watching it. I mean, the show even uses the word bigotry. I dont think they were hiding it. And Mina Loveberry’s character was so horrifying to me, not only because she was a spooky, scary, ravenous beast and terrifying person, but because some of the phrases she used, I have seen online and heard in real life. She really scared me, a young and perky, fun hair colored, previous idol was a bigot. I think its super cool how they designed her to not fit the normal evil and bigoted villain. I love Tom. I think he is just such a fun character, plus I think he and Janna would make a super cute couple or at least BFF pairing!! I loved his rocky relationship with Star. I thought it was super interesting they showed they twists and turns the romance made and that, again, its okay to not always get love right on the first try. Also, I loved Meterora’s story line. I thought that was so interesting, and I really think the lesson learned from her story (Yes, i always think there's a lesson to be learned, especially in cartoons) is that second chances are worth it. Meterora may have been evil her first time around, sucking the youth from princesses and oppressing their individuality. But, she was a product of baby switching, and being raised by a creepy robot to always hide what makes her unique. It’s classic nature versus nurture, and in this case, nurture won. But with her as a baby, and her memory of that life gone (except for her hatred of marco/turdina) she get’s a second chance, a chance to live the life she should have; with her parents. Also i love Eclipsa and Globgor, they were such a cute relationship! So kind, and respectful. not the typical rhetoric where the monster kidnaps the queen and forces them to marry them. she fell in love with him! they dated! ugh, i love it. I love Star’s character so much. a disney (yes in my head she is a disney princess, sue me) who is sloppy, messy, obnoxious, reckless, colorful, badass, a girl who is always ready for a fight! such a fun-filled character whoo has depth!!! I love depth! Also Star is bisexual, my mind is made up. Also Jackie is a lesbian, i’m sure of it. Also i love the fact that despite Marco and Tom both liking Star, they didn’t let it affect their own friendship! They were such good buddies and, i think, truly cared about each other to the very end. Beautiful! Stunning! 10/10! I loved Buff frog and all of his buff children. I love him being a good single parent, doing what needs to be done and loving his family. 

In conclusion, this show is amazing, the ending was heart wrenching and heart warming and got me totally psyched for a new season but as I understand it its not coming. :( I love everything about this show, so i 100% recommend it if you haven't watched it before.

Current Timeline Of Events For Monster Martyr AU:

Pre Arc: Arc Zero 

– Marco is crystallized and taken by Rhombulus to which Star reacts negatively. Rhombulus crystallizes Lekmet on accident. He tells Star about the magical fritz. Star promises to tell no one about the incident if he allows her to talk to Queen Eclipsa which she believes can help solve the magic issue. And she wanted to free anyway. The two make a deal.  – Toffee possesses Ludo after he destroys the Book Of Spells killing Glossaryk and Lekmet. He doesn’t goad Moon into going after his finger due to this his spirit/self leaves Ludo’s body and he regenerates from his finger left in Star’s closet. – While Henious visits the Diaz’s and Star seeing Rasticore growing back from his arm she realizes Toffee could be growing back from his finger to which she meets a partially grown back Toffee with a piece of wand in his hand.  They eventually reach a compromise after Toffee crushes the wand shard, no longer needing it. (Although some magic is left behind)  Eclipsa Arc: ♠️

– A memorial for Lekmet is held 

– Both Eclipsa and Toffee appear the MHC thinks they’re working together Eclipsa is locked up in her tower they try the same for Toffee but he’s too slippery. They both state they don’t have any malicious motives or intentions on hurting anyone unless it’s self defense. 

– Star goes on a quest to revive Glossaryk after having nightmares about it. 

– Meanwhile Moon and Eclipsa go on a quest to find out what happened to Eclipsa’s daughter  – Toffee and Eclipsa hold some animosity towards each other but they bond over their mutual hate for the MHC. And also heavy metal lots of heavy metal 

–  Star proposes the idea of a fair trial Toffee also backs this idea and offers to be Eclipsa’s defense 

– The Butterfly Trap is sprung. Trial By Box still happens, Meterora is still shown to be given away. Moon confronts Toffee on her mother’s murder to which he replies “I didn’t kill her.”

THE LAKE WHERE GLOSSARYCK PULLED THE MILL HORSE OUT IS ALSO THE SIGHT OF THE STUMP AND WHERE THE BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY IS. THE WHOLE LAKE IS FILLED WITH MAGIC AND METERORA’S TOY IS THE ACTUAL WAND AND THE FIRST BUTTERFLY WAS ALSO PRESENT WHEN THE FIRST MEWMANS ARRIVED

TOFFEE HAS APPARENTLY ALWAYS BEEN A JERK IN SOME WAYS

i’m sorry i’m yelling but this just blows my mind so much because i’ve waited for this type of lore and i expected something like this to be revealed in this set of episodes but i am still shook and excited about it

Thoughts On Star Vs Finale (major spoilers ahead)

So I watched the finale last night and went to bed to sleep on it watched it again and it just doesn't feel right, and not because it's this show that I've been watching since my early teens it's just meh in my opinion?

//////////////////// 

  I will not be posting any screenshots in this post because frankly I'm too tired to take them and I couldn't find any good ones. So besides the series finale being obviously short (only 22 minutes of run time) I personally blame Disney for this decision I'm sure Nefcy among the other crew members would've loved to give us another season and possibly another made for tv movie but Disney sucks man. 

What personally grinds my gears is that the episode focusing so much on Star and Marco, yes they're the main characters but it's not even the issue of St@rco anymore (which yes I'm not a fan of) it's the disregard of other characters such as Tom, Globgor and even Ludo and Mina. 

I know it's hard to wrap up all of the plot threads and character arcs in one 22 minute episode but this really felt like shipping fodder sorry to say... I can see this episode as a pre-mid season finale if it weren't for the whole destroying magic thing it just seemed too rushed. 

I'll make a separate post for a certain character that really got the butt end of the stick (Tom) 

I can go on all day about what I didn't like about the episode but here are somethings I genuinely loved about the episode; 

- Marco flipping a horse 

- Star and Tom collectively then going: MARCO YOU FLIPPED A HORSE

- Seeing everyone in their mewberty/butterfly forms was super neat! 

- Comet smiling at Moon and Star 

- Solaria smiling at Eclipsa and cupping Meterora's cheek 

- "that earthquake opened up a weird gas leak" "iTS A PORTAL!" 

- Seeing Jackie and Chloe again even if it was for a few seconds 

- the ending sequence with Mearth/New Mewni was really cool and reminded me of Hilda 

- Moon going "wait you've used the wand before?" to Marco 

- Star forgiving Moon 

- I actually liked the scene where Ponyhead cheered up Star it felt natural I didn't find myself hating her. 

TLDR: there was a lot of things I didn't like about the finale and I definitely wished there was a fifth season and maybe even a second movie but there were some things in the finale I did like although it could DEFINITELY COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER.

Made a mini reference list for me and anyone else who’d like it for the kids in the au. I was going to make a full list but it was getting a bit lengthy so Im dividing the list by family.

-  Butterfly Thomas Family -

Name: River Lynn Butterfly 

Goes by: River 

Gender: Male

Parents: Star and Jackie

Relationships: Crush on Pumpkin

Dating Preference: Pumpkin

 He’s the eldest son of the Butterfly-Thomas family. He seems to have a bit of a phobia of using most magic or magic even being used around him due to an incident where he blinded his childhood friend in one eye when they were children. He had been trying a spell as a child when it had gone wrong shocking Pumpkin. She lost her sight in that eye and he felt such an extreme guilt he immediately passed the wand on to the first elligible girl in the butterfly family he could, Corvida. Seeing how Corvida was treated after getting the wand made the guilt worse. He still carries it heavily in his heart and worries a lot about his younger sister, Marina inheriting the wand. The only magic he seems to be alright with is demon or hekapoo’s kind of magic since Pumpkin has that sort of magic. As soon as he was able he left Mewni for earth. He only leaves earth when pumpkin wants to take him on adventures. He loves his childhood friend, Pumpkin and its often assumed they are dating but he hasn’t mustered up the courage to ask her yet. 

Name: Marina Butterfly

Parents: Star and Jackie

Relationships: None

Dating Preference: Girls

  Marina is the eldest daughter of Queen Star and Jackie. As soon as she was old enough she was given the wand and title of next in line after both Corvida and River had given up the position and wand. She tries hard to focus on her studies but she tends to be a day dreamer always thinking of a thousand weird situations and possibilities. When shes not in lessons she’ll go to the pool and have a nice swim. 

Name: Coral Thomas Butterfly

Gender: Female

Parents: Star and Jackie

   Coral is the youngest child. After Star left to find a way to stabilize the wand, Coral ended up being watched by Meteora’s daughter Gemini whenever Jackie was busy. Shes an extremely kind child with a bit of an adventurous streak always running off to meet interdimensional sisters or half siblings because she frequently feels lonely or wants to cheer others up. Her back pack has tons of sweets and stickers she gives to people she likes best. She has a really hard time hiding her mermaid features at times.

Name: Gemini Butterfly

Gender: Female

Parents: Meteora and ???

Relationships: None

Dating Preference: Guys or Girls

  Gemini is the only daughter of Meteora. Her mother pampered her and always encouraged her telling her that she should pursue whatever she liked. Whenever she had trouble Gemini would rely on her mother and sometimes they’d put on a movie and relax until she felt better. Gemini began to love all things anime as she grew up even modeling her clothes after the magical girl genre. As soon as she heard Star was going on a journey she volunteered to watch Coral. Coral is always escaping her watchful eye and running off on adventures. 

- Butterfly Family -

Name: Corvida Butterfly

Gender: Female

Parents: ??? Butterfly

Relationships: Dating Pierrot. 

Dating preference: Guys and Girls but is happy in her current relationship and wouldn’t cheat

   Corvida is from another branch of the butterfly family. She was always either ignored or under high expectations from her mother. The relationship with her mother was barely functional before she was given the wand after River gave up his position. Suddenly with the wand her mother’s entire demeanor became worse. Her mother became extremely jealous and controlling, insulting Corvida the moment she made any tiny mistake or just for anything. Then it came out that Corvida was part monster. Her mother plucked her wings from her back so that they wouldn’t be publicly disgraced. Corvida feeling trapped tried to run away. She met Pierrot then. He tried to make her laugh and smile. He loved her. He’d do all he could to make her feel better and she’d tell him her stories. Eventually she was taken back to the castle and forced into a terrible reform school. However Pierrot told the queens what happened and Star went to get Corvida from the school. Corvida gave up the position and the wand now that she was free and immediately ran off with Pierrot to go on adventures far from her past.  She’s changed her look after she ran away and is usually following Pierrot. When his head falls off she carries it about and makes a few jokes of her own.

since most of the monsters left for anolther dimension and meterora wants to rule mewni but can’t becuase 1) star’s family is ruling and 2) she’s unfit to rule? let her becone queen of the monsters if the mewman monster feud is never fixed and leave her be 

btw, its really bad timing that meteora decides to come back right after the monster exodus because they’re the only ones who are able to reason with her. she already had her run in with the butterfly family so she won’t trust them at all.

Ten bucks says her obsession to stamp out all traces of individuality stems from the horrible way she was forced to stamp out everything about her own individuality (a.k.a. her monster heritage) and completely reform herself as some one so far removed from her true identity just to survive. Mina's comments about her being the most dangerous threat aren't just crazy talk, in her time she really would be viewed as such, she is a monster with LEGITIMATE claim to the Mewman throne. That's why her childhood home is veiwed as forbidden, why no one can even talk about what it was, because to the Butterfly family, Meterora was an existance that they simply could NOT allow. And we have already seen first hand how Butterflies handle scandals, lie bury the truth and destroy the evidence. You KNOW she was hunted down like a dog just for being born and I'd bet money Eclipsa wants to watch the whole kingdom burn just for that alone, for destroying her families lives.

As for Meteora? Well who knows how all this will manifest now that her old memories are bursting to the surface but given her propensity for vengefulness, I'b be willing to bet it won't be pretty.

And so concludes season 3A of svtfoe with the introduction of Meteora
